- Billionaire’s Journey into the Beast World, Suitors Compete to Be Fed by Her!
- Chapter 15 - Is Xiu Ka Turning Dark???
Mi Yue smiled as she sent text messages, completely unaware that the man with gold-rimmed glasses beside her was silently watching her.
Xiu Ka: Okay, got it.
Xiu Ka: “…”
Mi Yue: Hmm?
Xiu Ka: Nothing. Come back soon, we’re about to start moving.
Mi Yue put away her phone and turned her gaze to the road outside the car window. Having lived in the Beast World, the contrast with the modern era was beyond comparison.
Li Xiangyang swallowed hard before finally speaking up. “Has the young mistress gotten a boyfriend?”
“Which family’s son is it? Do I know him?”
Mi Yue yawned. “Not a boyfriend.”
“But a very important friend.” The kind who could keep her alive if she fed him.
Hearing the word “not,” Li Xiangyang’s tense expression relaxed slightly, but the term “important” made his heart tighten again.
Still, seeing Mi Yue yawning repeatedly, he didn’t press further.
“There’s still some way to go before we reach the hospital. You can rest for a bit, young mistress.”
Mi Yue gave a soft “Mm” and closed her eyes, soon drifting off to sleep.
What she didn’t expect, however, was that upon arriving at the hospital, she would be greeted by the top executives and elders of the Mi Corporation.
The crowd was so large that they filled the hospital corridor. Fortunately, they had gathered in the administrative building’s director’s office, so patient consultations wouldn’t be disrupted, otherwise, the backlash would have been unimaginable.
“What are you all doing here?” Li Xiangyang’s cold gaze swept over the crowd.
From the group emerged a lean young man with an arrogant, triumphant expression.
“President Yang, no need to worry. Everyone’s just concerned about President Mi Yue’s health.”
“We heard you were coming to the hospital for a check-up today, so we all decided to come, first, to show our concern, and second, to see if there’s anything we can do to help.”
After speaking, Mi Ye raised an eyebrow and looked at the delicate young woman behind Li Xiangyang.
“Little sister, why aren’t you saying anything now that we’re here?” Mi Ye’s smile deepened. “Are you mad at your brother, or are you already too weak to speak?”
Mi Yue removed her face mask, her watery eyes filled with anger. Her fair cheeks were tinged with a faint pink, and her full red lips looked irresistibly vibrant, hardly the complexion of someone gravely ill.
“Mi Ye, what are you trying to do? Undermine morale and seize power?”
Mi Ye’s ambitions were laid bare by Mi Yue’s blunt words, and his expression darkened.
Li Xiangyang scoffed. “I wasn’t aware that a mere 10% stake could make someone the head of the Mi Corporation.”
“Mi Yue, you’re going to die anyway. Once you’re gone, your assets and shares will belong to our branch of the family. I’m just enjoying my authority a little early.”
“Oh? Since when does the Civil Code grant uncles and cousins the right to inherit their niece’s or sister’s assets?” Li Xiangyang shielded Mi Yue behind him, his sharp gaze piercing through his glasses to land on Mi Ye.
Mi Yue swept a hand through her thick, raven-black hair and chuckled. “Who said I’m sick? If you’re blind, go to the ophthalmology department.”
“You claim you’re not sick? Then dare to show us your medical report. If it proves you’re ill, you’ll have to resign in disgrace.” Mi Ye was convinced Mi Yue’s healthy appearance was just makeup meant to deceive.
“Fine. If the report shows I’m healthy, then you’ll resign voluntarily and stop stirring up trouble in the Mi Corporation!”
Mi Yue’s confident demeanor reassured the gathered shareholders and executives.
Then, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, she underwent a series of medical examinations. Thanks to the special priority lane and the hospital’s advanced equipment, all the test results were ready by noon.
“The CEO is in good health, just slightly weak, likely due to recent exhaustion. She simply needs more rest,” the hospital director announced publicly, dashing the hopes of some who had been anxiously waiting.
Mi Ye’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How is this possible? She was terminally ill before!”
“Mi Yue, you… you all colluded! This is cheating!”
“Mi Ye, a bet is a bet. Are you just a sore loser?” Mi Yue had no patience to argue with him. “You’re resigning from the company today, or else-”
“Yueyue, your cousin was just worried about you and lost his head. Don’t take it to heart,” a middle-aged man with a receding hairline and a potbelly hurried over from the elevator. Someone must have tipped him off when things took a turn.
“Uncle, you’re a bit late, missed quite the show,” Mi Yue remarked sarcastically.
Mi Chengguang wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled warmly. “I’m just relieved to hear you’re healthy. We haven’t seen each other in so long. I’ve booked a private room at a hotel, let’s have a proper reunion.”
By now, the executives and shareholders understood the situation. Most of them were veterans who had worked under Mi Yue’s father, and their worries eased upon hearing she was fine. One by one, they made excuses and left.
The once-crowded hallway quickly emptied.
Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Mi Yue’s assistant stepped out, dressed in a sharp suit and carrying a black briefcase.
“Boss, here’s what you asked for!”
Li Xiangyang nodded, then turned to the young woman beside him with an apologetic expression. “I thought kicking out the second branch would settle things, but I never expected…”
“So, it was you, Mi Yue! You’re the one behind Vice President Liu’s dismissal, are you targeting me?” Mi Ye’s face flushed with anger as he recalled the recent struggles he’d faced in the company.
“Vice President Liu embezzled company funds and bribed you, totaling 2 billion. The evidence is right here.”
“Impossible! How could you have-”
Mi Chengguang’s expression darkened. “Yueyue, what are you doing? You can’t seriously be planning to send your own brother to prison!”
Mi Yue scoffed. “If you don’t want jail time, resign voluntarily. And that goes for you too, Uncle.”
“Otherwise, this evidence will end up where it belongs.”
Mi Ye clenched his fists, his eyes bloodshot. “Mi Yue, how dare you threaten me!” He looked ready to lunge at her.
Li Xiangyang’s gaze turned icy, his expression frosty.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Though not the sharpest tool in the shed, Mi Chengguang knew when to fold. He quickly grabbed his son’s arm and apologized. “We’ll go. We’ll resign.”
“Yueyue, we were just confused for a moment. Please forgive us this once. Don’t submit that evidence…”
“And what about the missing 2 billion?” Mi Yue’s eyes gleamed with cunning, she wasn’t about to let them off scot-free.
“We’ll pay it back, we will! But we don’t have that much cash on hand right now. Yueyue, can you-”
“No cash? Then use your shares. The debt will be deducted from your dividends!” With that, Mi Yue grabbed Li Xiangyang’s arm and walked away.
She couldn’t stand the sight of them a second longer.
“The nurse who leaked the information has already been dismissed by me.”
President Xiangyang, who usually commanded authority in the business world, now spoke with a hesitant tone, unable to meet the gaze of the young girl beside him.
Mi Yue couldn’t bear to see him looking so dejected. She stood on her tiptoes and gently stroked his chestnut-brown hair.
Li Xiangyang looked up in stunned silence, “…”
Mi Yue froze as well, quickly tucking her small hands behind her back. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
