- Chapter 13 - Lips as Sweet as Nectar!
Mi Yue looked up to see a towering male figure striding toward her with purpose.
The man had a healthy wheat-colored complexion, sharp brows, and piercing green eyes that gleamed with an intimidating intensity. His entire demeanor radiated an air of someone not to be trifled with.
Gai Ya, the tribe chief’s son, spoke up, “Xiu Ka, the migration was proposed by Shaman Yue. Now that we have no food, it’s only natural that he takes responsibility.”
As the heir to the tribe chief’s position, Gai Ya needed to win over the people, so he stood up in accordance with public opinion.
“He made the tribe move to save our lives!”
“Then should he also be responsible for when you piss and shit? Would you hold it in without his permission?”
Xiu Ka’s expression was icy, his tone unyielding.
Gai Ya was left speechless, but he refused to let Xiu Ka dominate the exchange.
Gritting his teeth, he sneered, “Xiu Ka, then tell me, why is Shaman Yue so concerned about you? Sending you gifts, protecting you… Could it be there’s some secret between you two?”
Gai Ya’s lewd expression made his insinuation all too clear.
Xiu Ka’s face darkened, veins bulging on his forehead. Instinctively, he glanced at Mi Yue.
Mi Yue was so infuriated by Gai Ya’s shameless demand that she nearly laughed. (This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone beg so righteously.)
(Looks like I can’t stay in the Tiger Tribe any longer.)
“System, do I have to stay in the Tiger Tribe to farm Xiu Ka’s gratitude points? Or does Xiu Ka have to remain here?”
[Not necessarily. Before long, Xiu Ka will leave to find his birth parents and part ways with the Tiger Tribe.]
[Host, just endure a little longer. You can also take this chance to squeeze out some more virtue points, even a tiny bit counts!]
Thinking about how she was only 45 points away from exchanging for another year of life, Mi Yue had no choice but to bear it.
Hearing that Mi Yue didn’t want to stay in the Tiger Tribe, a thunderbolt seemed to explode in Xiu Ka’s mind.
Was Shaman Yue angry because of Gai Ya’s words?
Was she going to abandon him?
Mi Yue gestured eating motions and held up a single finger. (I’ll help you this one time. If you dare cause trouble again, I’ll let you experience the taste of electrocution.)
She flicked the switch on her stun gun, and it crackled menacingly.
Xiu Ka snapped out of his thoughts and translated for Mi Yue.
Hearing that they would actually receive food, the tribesmen burst into joyous laughter and sincerely kowtowed to her several more times.
Seeing his goal achieved, Gai Ya called for the tribesmen to leave and prepare for the journey.
Mi Yue didn’t take the torn tent, only retrieving her sleeping bag, nightlight, and other belongings.
Once she had packed her suitcase, she followed the main group on their journey.
This time, Xiu Ka didn’t walk beside her. He remained silent the entire way, refusing to answer even when Wu Er asked what was wrong.
Gradually, Mi Yue fell behind the group and quietly returned to the modern world.
She immediately contacted the supermarket manager she had dealt with before, asking him to deliver a thousand pounds of sweet potatoes to her home.
Then, she reached out to the property management to rent five storage units, immediately.
The property management had the resources ready, and within half an hour, the deal was done. Mi Yue transferred 100,000 yuan on the spot for the rent.
By the time Mi Yue had everything settled, the first batch of sweet potatoes from the supermarket had arrived.
A hundred pounds of sweet potatoes were unloaded into the underground garage storage unit, filling the 10-square-meter space to the brim.
After the driver left, she used the system to store all the items in the system space.
This process repeated until nearly dusk, when all 1,000 catties of sweet potatoes were finally collected.
Overusing her spatial abilities drained Mi Yue’s energy, but pressed for time, she could only chew two pieces of chocolate before returning to the Beast World.
By then, night had already fallen in the Beast World, and Gai Ya had led the tribesmen in a frantic search for Mi Yue.
When they saw her emerge from behind a tree, they quickly surrounded her.
“Shaman Yue, where have you been? Were you trying to run away?”
“Yeah, where’s the food you promised?”
“It couldn’t have just fallen from the sky, could it?”
Mi Yue’s lips were pale, and her legs were weak. She could barely lift a finger to point at the patch of yellow earth behind her, lacking even the strength to gesture.
“Food in the ground? Are you joking?”
Gai Ya reached out to grab her, but a large hand intercepted him.
“Xiu Ka, what do you think you’re doing?”
“Can’t you see she’s unwell?” Xiu Ka’s face was dark with anger.
Only then did the others notice Mi Yue’s frail frame trembling, her complexion deathly pale.
Xiu Ka helped her sit beneath a tree, softening his voice. “Rest for a bit. I’ll take you away soon.”
Dizzy and disoriented, Mi Yue nodded weakly.
Xiu Ka stood and walked to the empty patch of land behind them. His hands transformed into tiger claws as he dug into the soil, unearthing two palm-sized sweet potatoes.
He turned and tossed them into Gai Ya’s arms, his voice icy. “Here’s what you wanted.”
Then, pushing past the crowd, he scooped Mi Yue into his arms and carried her back to his tent.
The tribesmen stared at Gai Ya. “Can this thing be eaten? Is it poisonous?”
Driven by hunger, one of the males took a bite. “It’s sweet. Probably not poisonous.”
“Let’s search and see if there’s more.”
Following Xiu Ka’s example, the tribesmen began frantically digging. Before long, they had unearthed a considerable amount of sweet potatoes.
Seeing this, the Tiger Tribe’s chief summoned all the males to join in the excavation.
When Xiu Ka returned with Mi Yue, Wu Er approached with concern. “What happened to Shaman Yue?”
Xiu Ka pressed his lips together. “I don’t know.”
“She looks exhausted. Let her sleep for now.”
“Mm.”
After instructing Xiu Ka to watch over Mi Yue, Wu Er went to prepare roasted meat.
[Received 5 gratitude points from Tiger Tribe folks. Current gratitude points: 5.]
[Received 20 virtue points from Tiger Tribe folks. Current virtue points: 75.]
Due to Mi Yue’s severe energy depletion, the system automatically used the gratitude points to aid her recovery.
Xiu Ka sat quietly by the tent, the orange firelight casting sharp shadows across his chiseled features like a divine carving.
He remained still, gazing at Mi Yue as she lay unconscious. His deep eyes traced the delicate contours of her oval face, her long lashes fluttering faintly with each breath.
The pallor of her lips gradually faded, replaced by a soft, rosy hue.
Unconsciously, Xiu Ka reached out, his rough fingertips brushing against her tender lips in a gentle caress.
Mi Yue’s brows furrowed slightly, and she let out a faint whimper.
He hastily withdrew his hand, raking his fingers through his hair in shame over his own dark thoughts.
Yet he couldn’t resist pressing the same fingertips that had touched her lips to his own, his tongue darting out for the briefest taste.
Sweet, like flower nectar.
Hearing footsteps approach, he quickly hid his hands behind his back.
“How is Shaman Yue?”
“Your complexion looks much better now, so you should be fine. The meat’s ready, let’s eat first.”
Xiu Ka’s throat bobbed as he replied, “Alright.”
After sleeping for about an hour, Mi Yue was roused by the vibration of her phone.
Buzz, buzz, buzz…
[Host, your friend Li Xiangyang is requesting a call with you…]
Squinting, Mi Yue picked up her phone and saw the messages Li Xiangyang had sent.
Li Xiangyang: Young Mistress, I’ll be at Jade Dragon Bay in ten minutes. Anything you’d like to eat?
Li Xiangyang: How about a Sunshine Rose Mousse Cake?
Li Xiangyang: I’m downstairs now.
