Becoming the Yandere Omega's Fluffy Pet - Chapter 45
Chapter 45
The tip of her tail was tugged punitively.
A stifled whimper was blocked in her throat. Ming Siyu leaned up and kissed the spot on Liu Ran’s face where she had been hit, then patted Liu Ran’s bottom through the quilt. “Go to sleep. I don’t have the patience to coax you to sleep.”
In the darkness, Liu Ran was bewildered. Her face felt hot; she didn’t know if it was from being hit or from being kissed. Ming Siyu’s attitude toward her over the past two days had been overly ambiguous combing her hair and kissing her at every turn making it so she couldn’t even bristle if she wanted to.
The next day, while scrolling through videos on the plane, she saw a pet blogger braiding her dog’s hair and trimming its eyelashes. Liu Ran suddenly realized: Ming Siyu still treated her like a little pet, just in a way that was more acceptable to both parties.
Recalling the dream-like life of the past few days, Ming Siyu hadn’t said a single “thank you” to her. “Thank you” and “I’m sorry” seemed to be the two most difficult words in the world for Ming Siyu; she would never say them out loud, only replacing them with other objects and actions.
After returning home, Liu Ran distributed the souvenirs she bought to her colleagues. Ming Siwei also returned to the country. Fearing that Ming Siyu would blame her for the lead actor’s scandal, she didn’t dare go to the conglomerate. She begged Old Madam Ming to act as a shield and called Ming Siyu back to the old family residence. Once it was certain that Ming Siyu wouldn’t vent her anger on Ming Siwei, she asked Ming Siyu to find some work for Ming Siwei within the conglomerate.
Liu Ran wasn’t clear on exactly what was said, but she knew that Ming Siyu’s face was very grim when she came home that day. She called Liu Ran over and stroked her tail for a long time before her temper cooled.
Ming Siyu was also investigating who had anonymously reported the lead actor to the media. It was eventually confirmed to be the actor’s ex-partner, who had extreme views and was taking psychiatric medication. Having proposed reconciliation several times only to be rejected, they reported the actor out of spite.
The lead actor wasn’t a good person either; the contents of the report were true, and the drug addiction was contracted after joining the production.
Given the situation, the movie definitely couldn’t be released, and the investment was almost a total loss. While some compensation was recovered through morality clauses signed in advance, the losses were far greater. This matter caused a stir both domestically and abroad. A very good IP could no longer be used. The conglomerate held a board meeting and sold the IP to a studio at a relatively low price; it would likely be adapted into an animation or an audio drama.
The other lead actor was a signed artist of Ming’s Entertainment. Domestic media turned their lenses on her, with rumors spreading that she had also used drugs while filming abroad. This caused the actress to run to the conglomerate to cry every few days, and her management team was perpetually gloomy. Ming Siyu had no choice but to agree to hold a press conference, where a senior executive from the conglomerate’s talent department personally clarified the situation.
Combined with Ming Siyu’s near-miss with a bullet in Country B, the conglomerate’s stock price inevitably took a hit and continued to fall, only stabilizing and rebounding after the reality show produced in cooperation with the government began airing.
Ming Siyu had been successful for many years, only to suddenly encounter a Waterloo in her career. Furthermore, she had a crippled leg, yet she still moved like the wind through the conglomerate with a crutch. By the end of the day, her armpit was bruised from the pressure, so she called Secretary Wen after returning home to prepare a wheelchair.
Liu Ran was right beside her when she made the call. She leaned over and said tentatively, “I can pick out the wheelchair.”
Everyone in the entertainment conglomerate was busy, but the real estate company side was peaceful and harmonious. With the new project on sale and funds flowing back, the work atmosphere was more relaxed than before.
Secretary Wen was busy beyond measure, so Liu Ran felt that a small matter like buying a wheelchair shouldn’t trouble her.
Moreover, she had quite a bit of research on wheelchairs. When Bai Yu first fell ill and had difficulty moving, she and her mother spent a long time researching wheelchair guides.
Ming Siyu hadn’t hung up the phone yet; she looked up at Liu Ran and said back into the receiver, “No need to buy it.”
Liu Ran took the time before Ming Siyu went to work to pick out a wheelchair. Coincidentally, she ran into Ming Siwei at the wheelchair shop. Ming Siwei smiled slightly: “It’s inconvenient for Sister to use a crutch, so I wanted to buy her a wheelchair so she can be more comfortable these few days. What about you, A-Ran?”
Liu Ran smiled: “I’ve also come to buy a wheelchair for President Ming.”
“Then we’ve thought of the same thing. Let’s look together; that way we won’t buy duplicates.”
Ming Siwei and Liu Ran chatted while looking. Ming Siwei mentioned Ming Siyu’s injury: “I was extremely anxious after I knew Sister was injured, and I wished I could fly over directly to take care of her. But I was afraid she’d be unhappy seeing me, which would affect her recovery, so I didn’t dare go. I really hope that one day Sister can bury the hatchet with me.”
Liu Ran followed the conversation and asked, “You and President Ming had a falling out before?”
“Yes, but that was a long time ago. It’s not worth mentioning, though I don’t understand why even after so many years, Sister still refuses to forgive me.” Ming Siwei looked helpless. “A-Ran, don’t mention me or the past to Sister when you go back, otherwise I’m afraid she’ll get angry again; Sister has a huge temper. You have a good personality, and with you by Sister’s side taking care of her, I’m at ease.”
“I will try my best to take care of President Ming.”
Ming Siwei arched her eyebrows: “Your relationship with my sister has improved? Have you found that Sister is actually super charming… The number of people who like my sister is countless; the love letters she’s received could be a meter high. You have a good opportunity to ‘get the moon first by being close to the water’; don’t let my sister be snatched away by someone else.”
Liu Ran said awkwardly, “President Ming and I have a superior-subordinate relationship, not the kind of ‘like’ for dating.”
She did have a changed view of Ming Siyu, but who could fall in love with someone who once stuffed them under an office desk and stepped on them? She didn’t have any special fetishes.
Furthermore, Ming Siyu could never give her an equal lover relationship in this lifetime; the most Ming Siyu could give her was the affection a master gives to a little pet.
Hearing this, Ming Siwei looked at Liu Ran with a smile in her eyes: “That’s not necessarily true. By the way, A-Ran, did you go to A-City Polytechnic Affiliated Middle School for junior high? I suddenly remembered a junior in school who looks very much like you. If so, we might even be alumni.”
Liu Ran was startled, then slowly shook her head: “No. I was at the Junior High Department of the Thirteenth Affiliated Middle School.”
“Ah, then it should just be that you look similar.”
In the end, Ming Siwei bought a lightweight electric wheelchair based on Liu Ran’s recommendation. After paying, Ming Siwei said she happened to be going to the conglomerate headquarters, so there was no need for Liu Ran to lug the wheelchair home only for Ming Siyu to take it to the conglomerate; she would take it there directly.
Liu Ran readily agreed. Looking at the time, it was almost time to start work at the company, so she sent a message to Ming Siyu: President Ming, I just ran into Miss Siwei at the wheelchair shop. She’ll bring the wheelchair to the conglomerate in a bit, so I’ll go directly to the company from here.
Two minutes later, Ming Siyu replied with a “Good.”
At the company, she found that Jian Huaici was also there. The place where Jian Huaici had sprained her ankle was completely healed. Her school term had started, and taking advantage of having few classes over these two days, she ran to the construction site again. This was the first project she had participated in, and Jian Huaici was very dedicated, running to keep an eye on it personally whenever she had free time.
“It’s just that ever since I accidentally fell into that well last time, my sister says she won’t let me go there alone no matter what. She wants to follow me personally, or at the very least, have an assistant follow me. I’m not a child anymore.”
Jian Huaici grumbled childishly, but it was clear she wasn’t truly angry; on the contrary, she seemed quite happy.
Liu Ran remembered that in Country B, Ming Siyu had mentioned in passing for her to get a driver’s license. Jian Huaici had gotten her license this summer break, so Liu Ran took the opportunity to ask her which driving school she went to and how the instructor was.
Jian Huaici tilted her head. “It’s a one-on-one instructor my sister found for me. The instructor is quite good; shall I give you her contact information?”
One-on-one would definitely be very expensive. Liu Ran touched her wallet; she had spent a lot of money on souvenirs, and she wanted to save the rest.
Thus, she politely declined Jian Huaici’s kindness in offering the instructor’s contact information.
Jian Huaici stayed for a while before returning to school. Liu Ran’s position was Secretary to the Boss, but since Ming Siyu wasn’t there, Secretary Lin took her on a tour of various departments in the company, letting her try a job rotation so she could familiarize herself with the business of every department, making it easier to coordinate between them in the future. Secretary Lin saw she was still carrying Ming Siyu’s work badge and took her to the HR department for a photo, wanting to make a new badge for her.
Before the camera, Liu Ran tugged at her hat and asked if she could wear it for the photo.
The lady in the HR department was very easy to talk to and told her she just needed to show her features and ears, and to come collect it before leaving work in the afternoon.
Having toured every department with Secretary Lin, Liu Ran truly felt that managing a company was much more difficult and complex than imagined. Previously, she had followed Ming Siyu muddledly, doing whatever Ming Siyu told her to do, or helping Secretary Lin with some work mostly minor tasks taken from a certain process, like making coffee, organizing files, or checking data.
Coordinating various departments to ensure orders were passed down and reports sent up, monitoring the company for the boss when they weren’t there, and external reception… these were the things she truly had to learn.
“Our company doesn’t have a General Assistant, so these tasks are handled by the Secretariat. No need to worry, Secretary Liu; it doesn’t matter how well you do it. Our core mission is to save time for President Ming and make her happy. As long as we can achieve these two goals, we are good secretaries.”
Secretary Lin understood things clearly in her heart: she had to give Liu Ran things to do, but she couldn’t actually let her do too much. President Ming had instructed her to train Liu Ran, but to what extent was not said. She couldn’t actually let Liu Ran work like a dog in the company like she did; President Ming would surely be unhappy, and she would be the first one to suffer. Secretary Lin still remembered the last time she let Liu Ran work overtime; Ming Siyu called, and her words were full of accusations about her letting Liu Ran work overtime.
However, President Ming was also quite peculiar. Generally speaking, isn’t the main reason a boss keeps a canary for that kind of pleasure? It was a first seeing someone actually let them work at the company.
After hearing this, Secretary Liu nodded with the same fighting spirit as a straight-A student facing a new semester at the start of school. “Secretary Lin, I will definitely study hard and be an excellent secretary!”
Heh, someone actually rushing to work like a beast of burden.
Secretary Lin recorded everything Liu Ran did in the company today whom she met and what she said and organized it into a document to send to Ming Siyu at the end of the day.
Taking advantage of the lunch break, Liu Ran searched for nearby driving schools. The expensive ones cost over ten thousand, while the cheap ones were four or five thousand. Many had humanely set practice times for morning, evening, and noon, making it convenient for working people to practice driving.
Liu Ran finally settled on one and called to inquire. The other party enthusiastically asked if they could add her on WeChat for detailed discussion.
Liu Ran was about to agree when Ming Siyu’s previous words sternly blaming her for adding others on WeChat without permission—rang in her ears. While thinking about what was wrong with adding a driving school staff member’s contact information, she was also afraid Ming Siyu would use it as a pretext to make a scene. In the end, she lost her nerve and said to the driving school: “I’ll discuss it with… first today, and contact you after it’s determined.”
The other party had clearly seen many students like this and said lightly: “Do you need to discuss it with your mother? That’s perfectly fine. You can call and inform me anytime after discussing it with your mother and getting consent. After the fees are paid, we can arrange practice times according to your needs.”
Mother… Ming Siyu was certainly not her mother.
But she definitely had to tell Ming Siyu first.
Liu Ran found time to tell Ming Siyu about this after returning. Ming Siyu listened while replying to emails, showing no reaction. She gave a few “mhm”s of consent, and Liu Ran made an appointment with the driving school and transferred the tuition fees. The driving school asked for her free time and set the practice time for every noon and after work in the afternoon.
In September, most students had gone to school, and those still practicing driving were basically working professionals like her. That training car had seven or eight students practicing simultaneously. The instructor was a middle-aged woman with wheat-colored skin who had a bit of road rage; she scolded students when they drove poorly, and when students practiced well, she scolded other cars.
The instructor roughly scheduled the students’ times twenty to thirty minutes per person—and told them to come back at their allotted time, saving a group of people from squatting on the grounds like little beggars waiting in line.
However, if one or two people were late, the schedule would be pushed back.
Liu Ran arrived early this day. The person ahead hadn’t finished, so she squatted by the roadside to wait. Waiting with her was a female employee in her twenties, wearing light makeup and black-rimmed glasses, with coffee in her left hand and a bag in her right; the work badge hanging from her chest showed she was an auditor at an accounting firm.
The woman’s practice time was after Liu Ran’s. Liu Ran had seen her several times but hadn’t spoken. The woman was voice-messaging on her phone, complaining about work—saying that after being seconded to the consulting group, overtime hours weren’t being counted, wondering when the wicked capitalists would die, and so on.
As she cursed, she gave Liu Ran an apologetic smile. “Sigh, it’s work. I still have to go back and work overtime after finishing practice. Are you also working? How’s the work intensity?”
Liu Ran returned a polite smile: “It’s quite good, no overtime.”
The woman said enviously: “Heavens, a fairy job. Which company?”
Hearing Liu Ran say the name, the woman gave a “Wow.” “Is your boss’s surname Ming? When I was in the IPO group, I almost took on a project for your company, but later they said they wouldn’t go public. Sigh, I’m just looking forward to turning thirty and finding a better client company to jump to. Is your company hiring? The benefits should be quite good?”
“You’d have to ask HR about that, but for now, it seems none of the departments are lacking people,” Liu Ran said cautiously.
Liu Ran’s phone vibrated. A call from Ming Siyu.
“Hello.”
“Liu Ran, where did you go?” Ming Siyu sounded a bit unhappy.
“I’m at driving practice.”
Ming Siyu blamed her: “Driving practice? Where did you run off to for driving practice without saying a word?”
Liu Ran felt aggrieved: “I told you about it, and you agreed. I’ve been practicing for several days now.”
Ming Siyu wouldn’t have forgotten what she said herself, would she?
There was a two-second pause on the other end, then Ming Siyu softened her voice: “I’ll pick you up in a bit.”
The call hung up. Looking at the call-ended screen, Liu Ran was speechless. It turned out that the several minutes she spent telling Ming Siyu about the driving practice that day had fallen on deaf ears; Ming Siyu had agreed perfectly well at the time, but actually hadn’t cared at all about what she was saying. Those “mhm”s that looked like consent were actually perfunctory.
Liu Ran felt a bit uneasy, feeling inexplicably empty.
Ming Siyu had always been extremely concerned about her every word and action. She herself had forgotten many things, yet Ming Siyu kept a detailed record of old accounts, bringing them out as evidence for an argument whenever a conflict occurred. Ming Siyu had a near-pathological desire for control over her, wishing she could be covered in cameras; she couldn’t add contacts casually, had to report her location everywhere, and Ming Siyu had even checked her chat records before. It was also that time that the fiercest and most painful argument broke out.
But this time she had proactively reported her driving schedule to Ming Siyu; why did Ming Siyu suddenly not care? Ming Siyu had been incredibly busy with the movie lately, but she shouldn’t have suddenly ignored her completely.
This wasn’t her first day of practice; she had been practicing for almost a week. Living under the same roof with Ming Siyu every day, Ming Siyu was actually completely unaware of it?
Qi Zhen even said she was a bit more tanned than before and had a bit more wild beauty now. She thought Ming Siyu had noticed too and was just too lazy to say anything, but now it seemed Ming Siyu had no idea whether she was black or white, fat or thin.
Liu Ran couldn’t help but reflect carefully on recent events. Ming Siyu’s neglect of her was not only shown in her ignorance of the driving practice. Ever since returning home, Ming Siyu’s discipline over her had become “free-range.” She placed her in the company and left her to Secretary Lin, not coming to the company once in over a week. When the two were at home together, she didn’t ask what she had done at the company, nor did she check her phone. Aside from occasionally stroking her tail and asking how the injury on her ear was healing, there was very little communication.
She hadn’t had lunch with Ming Siyu for a while.
Liu Ran thought she should be happy. Isn’t Ming Siyu not controlling her precisely the freedom she had always wanted?
It was just that the sudden transition from strict to loose was a bit hard to adjust to. She couldn’t possibly be so “cheap” that she felt uncomfortable without being controlled.
Checking her phone, it was six-thirty now. Ming Siyu said she would pick her up, but didn’t say what for, nor what time. Liu Ran was afraid Ming Siyu didn’t even know where she was practicing, so she sent her location over.
A hand waved in front of her.
Liu Ran snapped back to her senses. The young woman who had been chatting with her was looking at her with concern: “Hey, Miss, the instructor is calling you. She called several times and you didn’t hear; you don’t feel unwell anywhere, do you?”
“Oh.” Liu Ran shook her head. “No. I’m sorry, I was just thinking about something. Thank you for calling me.”
“You’re welcome. Go quickly, or the instructor will scold you later.”
Liu Ran usually practiced very well, and the instructor said she could find time to book an exam next week. Today, however, for some reason, she was perpetually distracted. The instructor was usually quite gentle with her, but after Liu Ran repeatedly clipped the corner of the parking space, she couldn’t help but start scolding. After being scolded, Liu Ran pulled her spirits together and practiced all the subjects to be tested in one go, finishing the practice early.
Getting out of the car, the young woman working at the firm was waiting near the car, preparing to swap in. She found her shoelace was untied and asked Liu Ran to help hold her bag and coffee while she crouched down to tie it. After tying the lace, the woman gave Liu Ran a smile with crinkled eyes. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Liu Ran also gave a polite smile.
Ming Siyu had just stopped the car and rolled down the window when what entered her view was the scene of Liu Ran handing coffee to a strange woman and giving her a sweet smile.
The fingers gripping the steering wheel used force, clenching until they turned white.
No matter where the little wolf went, she truly couldn’t change her nature of attracting bees and butterflies. She could even hook up with another woman while out at a driving lesson. Being so close and smiling so happily—she started doing as she pleased the moment she wasn’t watching.
She would only cry in front of her; she must have used up all her smiles on others outside.
She saw this scene before she had even parked the car steadily. In places she couldn’t see, how many other people had Liu Ran smiled at like this? How many people had she talked with so intimately? Was the next step to proactively take off her hat and show her ears to others?
Because she was busy, she hadn’t controlled Liu Ran much for a week, and she hadn’t had time to read the “little wolf observation log” Secretary Lin sent her. Today, having finally finished most of the work, she came home early to have a good communication with the little wolf. Coincidentally, Qi Zhen had taken a leave of absence to return to her hometown to visit graves these past two days; she planned to go out and eat something together after communicating with the little wolf.
As a result, when she returned home, it was empty. Liu Ran, who should have finished work, wasn’t home at all. Her first reaction was that Liu Ran had run away. On the spot, her anger flared. She picked up the phone to call her to account, only to be told by Liu Ran that she was at driving practice. Ming Siyu tried hard to recall; there seemed to indeed be such a thing. She changed her itinerary, coming to pick up Liu Ran to go to dinner before going home.
On the passenger seat was the gift she had for Liu Ran. That large, round gold bead He Qiange had brought back from thousands of miles away—she had someone make it into a long necklace. It was finished a few days ago, and Secretary Wen had placed it in her office drawer. She had been too busy to remember it until she opened the drawer today to find a USB drive and suddenly saw a beautifully packaged gift box. It was perfect to give out now.
The thorny issues were basically handled, the gift was ready, her foot was mostly healed so she didn’t need a crutch or a wheelchair, the weather was very good, the natural evening breeze was very comfortable, and even the evening rush hour wasn’t very congested with green lights all the way. Everything seemed to be going very smoothly.
Ming Siyu came to pick up Liu Ran with a relaxed and joyful mood. She hadn’t had such a good mood in a long time, and even felt a bit of anticipation for meeting Liu Ran, wanting to give her a good stroking in the car.
The little wolf would surely be whimpering and saying not to do it in the car, while welcoming her play until her face was flushed and her whole body was trembling. Ming Siyu depicted the vivid scenes in her mind, involuntarily stepping on the gas a few more times.
Who knew that as soon as she arrived, she would see the little wolf so intimate with someone else. The fire in her heart burned without needing to be lit.
A two or three-second action was slowed down countless times in Ming Siyu’s eyes. In her rage, she grabbed the gift from the passenger seat and threw it to the back row. The gift box hit the car window with a dull “thud.”
Ming Siyu slammed on the horn. The piercing horn blared across the empty driving field for several seconds. Liu Ran thought to herself: who is so immoral to blast the horn like that? Looking back, she saw the familiar car.
Oh, it was Ming Siyu. That wasn’t surprising then.
There was no driver; Ming Siyu had actually come to pick her up personally.
Liu Ran spoke to the instructor and ran to Ming Siyu’s car in three steps. “How come you came to pick me up in person?”
Ming Siyu sneered, “If I didn’t come in person, how would I know you were getting along so well with other students?”
Liu Ran heard the wrongness in her tone. She looked back at the instructor and students practicing seriously, and her heart sank. “Can your thoughts not be so filthy? Is it not allowed to say a few normal words and help carry something?”
