Becoming the Yandere Omega's Fluffy Pet - Chapter 44
Chapter 44
“Turn around,” Ming Siyu said.
Liu Ran didn’t want to turn. She found an excuse: “Isn’t it more convenient for you to touch the tail this way?”
“It’s not convenient. The bed is too small. If you turn around and face me, I can rest my arm on your hip and reach the tail just right.”
Liu Ran hesitated and refused to move. She couldn’t imagine how awkward it would be to sleep face-to-face with Ming Siyu. On such a small bed, what was the difference between sleeping face-to-face and sleeping with necks intertwined?
Ming Siyu deliberately blew air onto her neck. “I haven’t tried touching you until you go into heat on a hospital bed yet…”
Liu Ran’s breathing became difficult in an instant. “Don’t mess around, we’re in a hospital.”
There were other patients and medical staff outside; she truly didn’t want to be toyed with by Ming Siyu in front of so many people.
“We can lock the door from the inside,” Ming Siyu continued.
Liu Ran was truly afraid of her. She sat up abruptly. “How can your thoughts be so impure? Is making an Alpha go into heat a hobby of yours?”
By the dim light of the hospital bedside lamp, Liu Ran saw a flash of pain on Ming Siyu’s face. Immediately after, the hand Ming Siyu used to pull her arm tightened. “You bumped my foot.”
Liu Ran hurriedly moved her legs aside. “Are you okay? Does it still hurt?”
Ming Siyu originally wanted to say it hurt, hurt like hell, to blackmail Liu Ran into lying down obediently. But meeting the concern in Liu Ran’s eyes, the words reached her lips and were swallowed back down.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m tired, can you let me get some sleep?”
After speaking, she added another sentence: “I woke up in the early hours of the morning and haven’t slept since.”
Her exhausted voice carried a hint of pitiableness. Liu Ran believed this sentence of Ming Siyu’s was true; after all, Ming Siyu couldn’t fall asleep without holding her tail. The tail worked better than prescription sleeping pills.
“But it’s really awkward like that…”
Ming Siyu moved her lips and lowered her eyes. “Fine, then keep your back to me.”
Liu Ran was somewhat surprised. Ming Siyu had become so easy to talk to? She thought Ming Siyu would find all sorts of reasons and excuses to make her lie down face-to-face.
She clearly felt once again that Ming Siyu’s attitude toward her had changed; it had become much softer. It seemed her act of saving her had indeed touched Ming Siyu.
After lying back down, Ming Siyu groped under the quilt and grasped the fluffy tip of the tail. She didn’t maliciously blow air at Liu Ran again; facing Liu Ran’s back, she lay still and quiet.
Liu Ran remained motionless as well. She had slept quite a bit during the day and couldn’t conjure up any sleepiness no matter how she closed her eyes and counted sheep. The darkness amplified her hearing several times; Ming Siyu’s rhythmic inhalations and exhalations entered her ears clearly, like someone sweeping fallen leaves in autumn, or like the wind dancing by the window all night during monsoon season.
Liu Ran thought Ming Siyu had fallen asleep, and she pretended to be asleep herself.
After an unknown amount of time maybe half an hour, maybe an hour, perhaps longer, or maybe just ten minutes, Ming Siyu suddenly spoke: “Liu Ran, if I had died in the hospital, would you have been happy?”
Liu Ran knew then that Ming Siyu wasn’t asleep. And Ming Siyu knew she wasn’t asleep either.
Ming Siyu kept talking about life and death today; it was quite heavy. It was likely a post-traumatic side effect of escaping death.
As she pondered the answer, Ming Siyu rested her forehead against Liu Ran’s back and said faintly: “I want to hear the truth. Say whatever you want; I won’t be angry or blame you.”
Liu Ran cleared her throat slightly.
“I wouldn’t be happy. I’m not lying to you.”
Pausing for a moment, she added: “I wouldn’t be happy about anyone dying.”
In her spare time, she had carefully re-evaluated it; saving Ming Siyu wasn’t entirely due to impulse. She truly couldn’t do it watching a person die in front of her.
“I see,” Ming Siyu responded and stopped talking.
Liu Ran waited quietly for more. After waiting a long time with no follow-up, she looked back stealthily and found that Ming Siyu had fallen asleep at some point. Her movement of turning around didn’t wake Ming Siyu; Ming Siyu only furrowed her brows slightly and hugged the tail closer into her arms. Liu Ran lay back down.
When dawn was nearly breaking, Liu Ran was woken by a full bladder. She carefully and light-footedly withdrew her tail from Ming Siyu’s hand. When she returned from the bathroom, Ming Siyu was lying on the pillow with a pair of bright black eyes watching her. Liu Ran was startled and explained involuntarily: “I… I went to the bathroom…”
“Mm.” Ming Siyu was drowsy and hadn’t fully woken up; the movement of her patting the pillow was somewhat urgent. “Hurry. I want you.”
Liu Ran climbed onto the bed slowly, carefully avoiding Ming Siyu’s foot. Ming Siyu habitually slept on her side; she had lifted half her body as Liu Ran got on the bed, and before Liu Ran could fully lie down, she embraced her urgently.
Slender arms wrapped around the waist, her face pressed against the side of Liu Ran’s chest, and one leg was draped over Liu Ran’s leg.
She mumbled with her eyes closed: “Don’t move around… if you move around, I won’t like you anymore…”
Who wants you to like me? Liu Ran grumbled inwardly.
Sigh, but being liked is better than being hated. When Ming Siyu hated her, she made her life worse than death every day; now it was much better than before.
This time Ming Siyu fell asleep very quickly. Once asleep, she remained as motionless as a corpse. Liu Ran had half her body pinned down and couldn’t lie completely flat, so she stared up at the ceiling helplessly. Later she lost consciousness; she felt she didn’t fall asleep, but was pinned into a faint by Ming Siyu.
He Qiange couldn’t find Ming Siyu. She tried to push the door but couldn’t open it. Liu Ran was woken by the rattling of the door lock and got out of bed to open the door. He Qiange gave the door a violent push, and it almost hit Liu Ran in the face.
Outside the door, He Qiange looked Liu Ran up and down: “Where’s Sisi?”
Without waiting for Liu Ran’s answer, she strode in. Ming Siyu was also awake, rubbing her sleepy eyes as she lay on the bed, asking He Qiange what the urgent matter was.
He Qiange’s expression was shocked yet somewhat speechless. “I’m saying, even if you two want to do it, there’s no need to rush to do it in a hospital. Is this bed big enough for maneuvers?”
“We didn’t do it!”
“So what if the bed is small? The point is it’s in a hospital. How exciting it is to do it in a hospital.”
Liu Ran and Ming Siyu spoke at the same time. Liu Ran’s eyes widened—wasn’t this a slander? She and Ming Siyu were clean and innocent!
Well, not entirely innocent, but last night they were definitely as clean as could be.
Receiving her embarrassed gaze, Ming Siyu changed her tune: “I came to sleep. You know I have trouble falling asleep.”
He Qiange, however, used her intact arm to stroke her chin, her gaze exploring the hospital bed: “I was just saying, her hands are all wrapped up, her function is gone. But Sisi, you’re right about one thing; it should be quite exciting in a hospital. I’ll try it if I get the chance.”
No wonder He Qiange and Ming Siyu were best friends; in certain aspects, the two of them were simply of one mind. Liu Ran’s ears burned as she listened; He Qiange’s words involuntarily made her think of many intimate moments with Ming Siyu.
Liu Ran went to the ward’s bathroom to wash up.
He Qiange suddenly turned and said to her: “Liu Ran, go out. I want to say a few words to Sisi alone.”
Liu Ran left and even considerately closed the ward door for them. There weren’t many people in the corridor at this hour. Liu Ran waited for a few minutes before He Qiange finished and called her back in.
It was quite dull in the hospital. While changing her dressing, Liu Ran observed her wolf ears in the mirror; they were bald, with dried blood at the edges mixed with shiny ointment—a bit ugly and a bit pitiable. However, the most uncomfortable part was her hand; it was wrapped in gauze, making everything a bit inconvenient. When playing mini-games on her phone, she could only use the tip of her exposed finger to tap slowly.
Ming Siyu disliked that her hair was messy from sleep and took a comb to comb it for her. Liu Ran hadn’t washed her hair for two or three days and felt it was quite unclean, not wanting anyone to touch it. Ming Siyu pressed her shoulders to keep her from moving and even leaned in to sniff. “It’s not smelly. Just a bit of an alcohol scent.”
The comb passed through the hair strands, scratching the scalp; Liu Ran’s entire back felt tingly and numb. Her hair hadn’t been cut for a while and hung down below her chest. After Ming Siyu finished combing, she braided it into a pigtail.
Only after finishing the braid did she realize the hair tie wasn’t at hand; it was by the bathroom sink. With one person having a bad hand and the other a bad leg, yet Ming Siyu being determined to finish the braid, they finally imitated “disabled people helping each other” from elementary school textbooks. Liu Ran carried Ming Siyu on her back, and Ming Siyu held the braid while being carried to the bathroom to get the hair tie, tying a crooked braid for Liu Ran.
Just as Ming Siyu wouldn’t stay in her own room at the hotel and ran to sleep in Liu Ran’s room, she was now occupying her hospital ward. Being in the same room with her always felt awkward, so Liu Ran asked Ming Siyu when they would return home.
Ming Siyu was leisurely eating fruit. She peeled a grape, put it in her mouth, chewed, and her lips were stained with a layer of pale purple juice.
“No rush, wait until the injuries are better. By the way, do you want to go see that house of yours? We happen to still be in Country B.”
When she said this, Liu Ran felt a bit of anticipation. she wondered what kind of view it would be looking at the sea from the living room, and if it would be the same as what she saw at the hotel.
But besides anticipation, Liu Ran also felt a nagging discomfort in her heart. She felt something was strange but couldn’t put it into words. This house was too precious for her; she found it a bit hard to accept. Yet reason told her: why refuse what Ming Siyu gave? Refusing would only make her seem pretentious. Besides, having tens of millions in assets in her hands—even if she couldn’t sell it, she could rent it or mortgage it gave her confidence and something to rely on.
This led to her being both expectant and resistant.
“Wait until after I’m discharged.”
As soon as she spoke, a peeled grape was placed at her lips. Ming Siyu’s fingertips were covered in translucent juice. She explained: “I’m peeling it for you only because you look pitiable.”
Liu Ran was a bit flattered.
Ming Siyu only waited for one second before popping the grape into her own mouth.
“Dogs can’t eat grapes, can you not eat grapes either? It’s rare that I serve you once and you don’t even want it. I see you don’t have the fate to enjoy such blessings.”
Liu Ran thought to herself: it wasn’t a question of grapes or no grapes. Ming Siyu’s behavior was so abnormal that it was only right for her to be surprised.
After that, Ming Siyu didn’t peel any more grapes for her. The words “serving others” were not in Eldest Miss Ming’s destiny.
He Qiange couldn’t get used to living in the hospital. She ran back to the hotel and hired two medical staff members to stay by her side. Ming Siyu and Liu Ran continued to stay in the hospital obediently. That evening, as they were preparing to continue squeezing onto the small bed to sleep, Ming Siyu received a phone call.
Ming Siyu was brushing her teeth when she answered the call, leaning against the wall on one leg. Liu Ran laboriously held the phone with her fingertips to bring it to her.
Ming Siyu’s hands were covered in water and she was too lazy to wipe them, so she told Liu Ran to answer and turn on the speakerphone.
It was a call from a movie producer. The high-investment movie co-produced with a foreign film company, with Country G as the primary filming location—Ming Siyu had banished Ming Siwei there to follow the entire process for two months, and it should be almost finished filming by now. Some time ago, the conglomerate was still discussing the promotion of this movie.
The producer was in a panic, saying something big had happened. One of the foreign actors playing a lead role had been reported for drug use and the rape of a minor. Although it had only been two hours since the report, foreign media had already begun spreading the news extensively. That actor was an A-lister abroad and had offended some people during awards season before; now he was being watched incredibly closely.
If the subsequent investigation confirmed the lead actor’s crimes, this movie which took nearly two years and cost hundreds of millions could only be quietly aborted. When selecting actors, they had conducted an investigation in advance to ensure that at least the leads had no major issues regarding ethics and law, yet now this had happened.
Ming Siyu’s head throbbed. She immediately thought of Ming Siwei; Ming Siwei really was born to spite her. Previously, she only thought things handled by Ming Siwei would be botched, but now it seemed anything associated with Ming Siwei would rot like this.
But this was all superstition; it wasn’t actually Ming Siwei’s doing. She could only grumble in her heart.
The conglomerate had also received the news simultaneously. As soon as the producer’s call ended, Secretary Wen’s call came in. Ming Siyu leaned against the wall, talking on the phone while rubbing her brow. Ten minutes passed, and she hadn’t even had time to spit out the toothpaste foam. As she kept talking, most of the toothpaste foam in her mouth was swallowed into her stomach.
The call finally came to an end. Ming Siyu rinsed her mouth and said to Liu Ran: “An emergency. There’s no time to go see the house with you. We’re going back home tomorrow morning.”
“Oh, then next time.” Liu Ran wasn’t very disappointed by this result. She had overheard a bit and roughly understood the sequence of events and the urgency.
Ming Siyu reached out for her crutch. She had stood on one leg for too long and it had unknowingly gone numb. As Ming Siyu turned her side, countless dense, tiny stinging pains immediately shot through her leg it felt as if every cell was being zapped by electricity. Her knee went soft, and she was about to fall into a kneel on the spot.
Liu Ran was right beside her, scooping her up by the arms. Ming Siyu grabbed Liu Ran’s clothes with one hand and felt her knee with the other. “My leg went numb from standing.”
“Oh, then wait a second. I’ll help you to the bed.”
It was only a few steps, but helping her was quite troublesome, so Liu Ran carried Ming Siyu back. Ming Siyu was quite light; she seemed to have become even lighter after this incident.
After Ming Siyu was settled on the bed, Liu Ran said she wanted to go back to the hotel once before departure.
“To the hotel to get luggage? If those bags are lost, let them be; they can all be bought again.”
Liu Ran insisted: “There are souvenirs I bought for my colleagues.”
“Where can’t you buy souvenirs—” Halfway through, Ming Siyu changed her tune: “Go get them, and come back quickly. I’ll get the driver to take you, and ask Qiange if she wants to leave together by the way.”
Ming Siyu had the temporary assistant sent by the local project department take Liu Ran back to the hotel. Liu Ran packed the souvenirs in her room, trying to fit them all into one suitcase so she wouldn’t have gift bags hanging all over her arms.
Halfway through packing, He Qiange came to knock on the door, telling Liu Ran to return to the hospital in her car later.
He Qiange leaned against the doorframe, rubbing her temples with one hand, furrowing her brows and grumbling: “I have a feeling I’ll be unlucky today… it’s more reassuring to be with you all.”
Liu Ran finished packing quickly. She struggled a bit when pulling the suitcase zipper; she could only move the first two knuckles of her fingers relatively freely. He Qiange, on the other hand, had one arm completely out of commission and couldn’t help.
It was quite late. The car didn’t enter the underground garage; the assistant was waiting directly at the hotel entrance. After putting the luggage in the trunk and just as they were about to get in, a black business car with local plates suddenly stopped near them. It was one step away from sending Liu Ran flying.
He Qiange narrowed her eyes, flicked her earring, and commented: “Nice driving skills.”
The business car hadn’t even come to a stop before the doors opened. Several people in dark clothes stepped out, all wearing sunglasses in the middle of the night, surrounding the car Liu Ran and the others were about to enter before they could react. Immediately after, a woman in cargo pants and black leather boots stepped out from the door on the side slightly further away. The woman was tall, and her exposed skin was as white as a ghost. She wore a baseball cap, the brim pulled low, only showing the lower half of her face.
This face seemed somewhat familiar. He Qiange’s expression changed drastically in an instant, and she turned to scramble into the car, but her collar was grabbed by the woman in cargo pants. She flipped He Qiange around like a little chick, lifted her long leg, and kicked shut the car door He Qiange had just opened.
In front of strangers, Liu Ran automatically categorized He Qiange and herself into the same group. She hurriedly went up to try and rescue He Qiange: “Hello, is there some misunderstanding—”
He Qiange used her uninjured hand to slap the woman directly across the face. She didn’t hold back at all, and the woman didn’t dodge; the slap landed firmly on the woman’s face.
The woman licked the corner of her mouth. “Qianqian, did you not eat enough in Country B? Such little strength.”
“Xiao Yuenong! You mother-f—ing stalker!” He Qiange jumped in rage.
Hearing this name, Liu Ran realized who it was. No wonder she looked familiar; it was Xiao Yuenong, here for He Qiange. Xiao Yuenong’s mafia boss aura was a complete contrast to her image on TV, playing the violin in a red dress as if entranced; Liu Ran couldn’t link the two together at first.
Xiao Yuenong looked down at He Qiange’s arm in the cast and gave a dissatisfied “tsk.” “How did you get yourself injured? Your sister pampers you too much, making you still unable to take care of yourself at nearly twenty-eight.”
“I said I don’t want to see you. If you have any conscience left, let me go and then get lost. Do you think I don’t dare tell my sister? No matter what, I’m her biological sister; you’re just an outsider!”
Facing He Qiange’s accusations, Xiao Yuenong turned a deaf ear. She didn’t seem to want to make a scene; if they stayed too long, hotel security would come. she signaled her subordinates to take both people away together. Now Liu Ran was panicked; she was supposed to go back to the hospital where Ming Siyu was waiting for her. She was just an innocent bystander!
She broke free from the two people trying to grab her. Those two didn’t expect her to be so strong and pulled out stun batons from their waists.
Liu Ran said urgently: “Miss He, please talk to Miss Xiao—”
He Qiange was struggling desperately to avoid being taken into the car by Xiao Yuenong. Hearing this, she said angrily: “Xiao Yuenong, don’t touch her! She has nothing to do with this! If you want to grab someone, come for me!”
Who knew Xiao Yuenong would misunderstand He Qiange’s meaning? She didn’t know Liu Ran and furrowed her brows: “Qianqian, is this your new woman? You found someone else so quickly after leaving me? In what way is she better than me? Does she love you more than I do, or is doing it with her better than doing it with me? Didn’t you say you liked the thin calluses on my fingers from playing the violin most?”
“Qianqian, you won’t answer my calls, you blacklisted me, all for her? At this hour, where are you going with an Alpha?”
Xiao Yuenong was clearly a bit delirious from jealousy. Liu Ran explained: “I have nothing to do with Miss He, I’m President Ming’s—”
A punch was thrown at her face without explanation. Seeing Liu Ran get hit, He Qiange gave Xiao Yuenong another slap: “Open your dog eyes and look clearly, this is Ming Siyu’s person!”
Liu Ran’s face stung with pain. She jumped up and kicked Xiao Yuenong. Xiao Yuenong turned her head, took the kick, and ignored Liu Ran, dragging He Qiange into the car. Xiao Yuenong came with ill intent, and Liu Ran feared she might cause irreparable harm to He Qiange in a fit of rage, but she couldn’t intervene too much in their personal affairs, and she wasn’t particularly close to He Qiange.
So she chased after them and asked: “Miss He, do you need me to call the police for you?”
The car door shut. Half a minute later, the window rolled down. He Qiange said to Liu Ran with teary eyes: “Secretary Liu, this is a private matter between me and Xiao Yuenong. I’m sorry for involving you. Go find Sisi and tell her I won’t be returning home with her. Also, don’t tell my sister about meeting Xiao Yuenong in Country B for now. Don’t worry, nothing will happen to me. Xiao Yuenong wouldn’t dare. No need to call the police.”
As if fearing she really would call the police, He Qiange emphasized several times not to call them. After she finished, Xiao Yuenong had someone drive the car away.
Liu Ran was cautious and noted down Xiao Yuenong’s license plate number. Returning to the car, the assistant driver had been scared into a quivering mess, repeatedly asking: “Are they gone? Are they really gone?”
Back at the hospital, Liu Ran hurriedly went to find Ming Siyu. Whenever she couldn’t decide on something, the first thing she thought of was to ask Ming Siyu. Ming Siyu wasn’t asleep; she was in a video conference. Seeing Liu Ran enter with half her face swollen, she ended the meeting in a few words and reached out to Liu Ran: “Did you fall or were you hit by someone?”
Liu Ran leaned down and placed her chin in Ming Siyu’s hand. The cool fingertips brushed gently over the stinging area on her cheek; it was cool and soft, very comfortable. Liu Ran recounted the incident of meeting Xiao Yuenong at the hotel entrance to Ming Siyu. At the end, she asked: “Really no need to call the police?”
“No need. Don’t meddle in their business.”
Ming Siyu lowered her brows and cursed in a low voice: “That thing Xiao Yuenong hits so hard.”
Liu Ran blinked; the kick she gave Xiao Yuenong wasn’t light either.
Ming Siyu rang the bell for the duty doctor to help treat the injury on Liu Ran’s face. After the doctor checked, he brought two ice packs. Liu Ran held the ice packs with her hand while watching Ming Siyu work. It wasn’t until nearly one in the morning that Ming Siyu yawned, preparing to sleep.
Liu Ran helped her hang the clothes she would wear tomorrow in the wardrobe. It was miserable; she had been hit on the left side of her face, so she could only sleep flat or on her right side. Sleeping flat would press on her tail; she had long ago developed the habit of sleeping on her side, but this meant she had to face Ming Siyu.
Ming Siyu naturally closed her eyes to sleep. Because of the awkwardness, Liu Ran couldn’t fall asleep for a while, moving around on the bed in small increments. After a while, Ming Siyu sighed: “Are you nervous sleeping with me? What are you nervous about?”
“It’s not nervousness, it’s just not being used to it…”
“You’ll get used to it if you sleep together more. People who want to sleep with me could line up from Country B all the way to my front door. You’d better cherish the opportunity to sleep with me; you’ll have to sleep by yourself when we get back.”
Liu Ran mumbled in a low voice: “Then just go sleep with someone else…”
