- Chapter 55 - Little Cat Decides to Be Honest: "I have something to tell you."
It was the seventh day in Qingcheng.
In the preceding days, Ying Miaomiao had a great time and learned some substantial skills.
But the things that left the deepest impression on her were sand painting and pottery.
Ying Miaomiao’s hands weren’t clumsy; the ceramic piece she molded was actually decent. The only regret was that ceramics required time to be fired, and she would have to wait a while before she could get it.
She was thrilled.
Tomorrow was the day to return to Nancheng.
During her free time over the past few days, Ying Miaomiao would occasionally wander around, coming back full of local specialties.
She mainly bought cultural and creative products and local snacks that could be kept for a long time, also bringing souvenirs for Shi Xinyu and her other friends.
…
Liuguang (Flowing Light) did not organize any formal closing or opening ceremonies; instead, on the seventh day, they added a final presentation session.
In these seven days, everyone used different painting forms to showcase the gardener, giving Ying Miaomiao a unique sense of accomplishment.
It turned out that, without realizing it, the gardener image she had conceived had become much more three-dimensional and less hollow than before.
After the presentation session concluded, Sang Xu was also deeply moved. She had never experienced this kind of training before and found it very novel.
The lectures or training sessions she had participated in previously mostly talked about theoretical knowledge. Although there were opportunities for practical hands-on experience, they were relatively standardized and mechanical.
As the session was about to end, Luo Yu quietly sat down next to Ying Miaomiao.
She gently tapped the table and asked in a low voice, “Why did you choose not to publicly present?”
Ying Miaomiao turned her head, shifting her gaze from the currently displayed works. Although she was a bit puzzled as to why Luo Yu asked this question, she still replied, “Personal habit.”
Luo Yu smiled, “I’ve seen your paintings. They are very spiritual and full of emotion.”
“The time is too rushed now. I wonder if you have time to have dinner together tonight. I want to chat with you.”
Luo Yu added, “Just consider it a way to get to know each other and make friends.”
Ying Miaomiao’s impression of Luo Yu wasn’t bad. She achieved fame early and produced many works. Plus, when Ying Miaomiao was still a cat last time, Luo Yu treated everyone with the same attitude.
She only hesitated for a moment before agreeing to the invitation.
What Luo Yu meant by “chat” seemed to be just a normal conversation. She chose a Qingcheng specialty restaurant that Ying Miaomiao had frequently seen mentioned in travel guides.
In such a popular, internet-famous store, there seemed no need to deliberate over what to order. Since there were only two of them, they simply ordered a few signature dishes.
However, halfway through the meal, Luo Yu suddenly looked up and asked, “Ying Miaomiao, do you have any plans to change jobs?”
“You must have seen the environment at Liuguang. The workload and salary level may not be the industry’s top, but they are among the best. If you are willing to join, the benefits will definitely be better than what you currently have.”
“I really admire you.”
As Luo Yu said, Liuguang’s standard was among the best in the industry. Even when Ying Miaomiao was about to graduate, she had considered applying to Liuguang.
Although she ended up at her current company by a twist of fate, she still felt it was good.
Luo Yu’s proposal was indeed very tempting.
But…
Ying Miaomiao thought for a moment and decided to refuse.
“Thank you for your kindness, but I choose to stay.”
After she voiced her refusal, Luo Yu didn’t get upset. Instead, as if she had expected it, she let out a light laugh. “Although I guessed you would refuse, I still wanted to try.”
“I toast you.”
Saying this, Luo Yu raised the glass of juice in her hand and drank it all in one gulp, the gesture as bold as if she were drinking alcohol.
“Don’t feel burdened.”
Perhaps noticing Ying Miaomiao’s slight nervousness, Luo Yu rolled up her sleeves, tucked the hair by her temples behind her ear, and continued, “I simply admire your work and wanted to poach you.”
Fortunately, this topic was quickly glossed over. After finishing their meal, the two exchanged contact information and went their separate ways.
The internet-famous restaurant wasn’t far from the hotel; a taxi ride took no more than half an hour.
After taking a shower, Ying Miaomiao, still carrying an excited mood, packed her suitcase. The originally empty suitcase was almost completely filled with various local specialties.
But her excitement faded, replaced by some worry.
Ying Miaomiao had been repeatedly thinking about her relationship with Shi Xinyu these past few days. She was very greedy for Shi Xinyu’s kindness towards her, but she absolutely could not tolerate becoming someone else’s substitute.
Perhaps it was a feeling of nervousness about returning home, but she wasn’t that eager to go back to Nancheng.
However, the train ticket had already been bought. The next day, carrying her heavy suitcase, Ying Miaomiao still went to the station.
Sang Xu was in a similar situation; her suitcase was noticeably heavier than when she arrived, filled mostly with local specialties besides some clothes.
The three-hour return journey felt extraordinarily difficult for Ying Miaomiao. She watched the colored blurs flashing past the window, her expression rarely containing worry.
In all fairness, as a girlfriend, Shi Xinyu was perfectly qualified. She was very thoughtful and proactive.
When Shi Xinyu learned that Ying Miaomiao was returning to Nancheng, she also offered to pick her up.
Ying Miaomiao absentmindedly fidgeted with the drawstring of the paper bag in her hand.
How should she bring up this issue with Shi Xinyu?
But some things cannot be escaped. The three-hour train ride flew by, and Sang Xu and Ying Miaomiao said their goodbyes after getting off the train.
As she exited the station, carrying her suitcase, Ying Miaomiao immediately spotted Shi Xinyu waiting in the crowd.
She seemed to have dressed up intentionally today; every curl of her hair was just right, her expression aloof, and her red lips lightly pressed together.
Shi Xinyu was looking down, wearing a loose-fitting hoodie paired with long pants—a set Ying Miaomiao had bought. This made Shi Xinyu look several years younger, but she was still hard to approach.
She lowered her head, took out her phone, and sent a message: “I’m waiting for you at the exit.”
Ying Miaomiao’s heart softened.
The hesitation from moments ago seemed to vanish the instant she saw Shi Xinyu.
She didn’t reply to the message, but headed straight for her.
When she was two or three meters away, Shi Xinyu noticed the figure rushing toward her, opened her arms in surprise, and caught Ying Miaomiao.
The suitcase was abandoned to the side. Buried in Shi Xinyu’s embrace, Ying Miaomiao’s voice was slightly muffled, “I’m back.”
Shi Xinyu lowered her eyes, the coldness in her expression diluted. Her amber eyes were intently focused on the black swirl of hair on top of Ying Miaomiao’s head.
“I missed you a lot.”
But it was, after all, in public. Ying Miaomiao didn’t feel comfortable lingering in Shi Xinyu’s arms. She only hugged her for a moment before wriggling out and retrieving her suitcase.
“Let’s go.”
Shi Xinyu, however, took the suitcase from her hand and led Ying Miaomiao by the wrist toward the station exit.
Watching Shi Xinyu’s back, Ying Miaomiao suddenly felt a little lost. She pursed her lips, her voice abruptly dry, “Shi Xinyu.”
She called Shi Xinyu’s name, “I have something to tell you.”
