Beauty Snake - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: “My Feelings For You Are Beyond Doubt.”
At the sound of the voice, Ji Yunfei turned her head. She was met with Xie Yin’s smiling eyes; the sunlight spilling across her face made her look breathtakingly beautiful.
“Replying to messages?”
Seeing Ji Yunfei’s dazed, lovestruck expression, Xie Yin’s eyes crinkled as she flashed a harmless, gentle smile.
“Mmm…”
“Work stuff…”
“Qin Qing just sent over the design requirements…”
“And…” Ji Yunfei paused. “I need to find a time to talk things through with Su Yao…”
Mentioning Su Yao brought a wave of guilt. After all, her recent behavior could easily be labeled as that of a “scumbag girl.”
Taking advantage of Ji Yunfei’s distraction, Xie Yin snatched the loosely held phone and tossed it back where it belonged. Then, she spoke with feigned nonchalance:
“Su Yao…”
“Is she the reason you’ve been avoiding me these past few days?”
“Cough, cough, cough—!” Ji Yunfei was startled by the sudden bluntness and accidentally choked on her own saliva.
“That… before we talk about that…”
“CEO Xie, would you mind letting go of me first?”
Her waist was being held tightly. She could convince herself not to care when facing a drunk Xie Yin, but she was facing a very sober Xie Yin now.
“CEO Xie…?”
“Didn’t ‘Yin-Yin’ roll off your tongue quite naturally last night?”
“How is it that after one night, you’re refusing to acknowledge it?”
The arm clamped around her waist didn’t loosen as expected; instead, it tightened. Coupled with Xie Yin’s teasing tone, Ji Yunfei’s face turned an uncharacteristic shade of red once more. She hadn’t expected Xie Yin to have remembered everything—including the fact that she had called her “Yin-Yin” all night.
If she remembers everything… then does that mean…
Alarm bells rang in Ji Yunfei’s head. She tried her best to maintain her composure and asked tentatively: “You… remember everything from last night?”
Hearing this, Xie Yin let out a soft hum and pressed her index finger against the corner of Ji Yunfei’s lips.
“I’m not like a certain dummy… who blacks out whenever they’re drunk… or hugs a lamppost while wailing in grief.”
“I remember… I kissed you here last night.”
“And here… and here…”
As she spoke, Xie Yin moved her finger from the corner of the mouth to the tip of the nose, then to the eyelids, finally letting it rest firmly between Ji Yunfei’s eyebrows.
Thump-thump-thump— Ji Yunfei could clearly hear her own heartbeat, as deafening as thunder.
“You… you…” She couldn’t form a complete sentence. She opened her mouth, but the word “you” went nowhere.
Xie Yin stared straight at her while speaking, attempting to lock eyes, but Ji Yunfei looked at the ceiling, the floor, and the air—anywhere but at her. Xie Yin wouldn’t allow herself to be absent from Ji Yunfei’s gaze, so she firmly cupped the “dummy’s” face and forced her to look directly at her.
Under Xie Yin’s forceful maneuver, Ji Yunfei gave a couple of awkward laughs, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into.
“How can she remember!!”
“Aaaah—”
“You dummy, are you still going to run now?”
“You kiss someone and don’t want to take responsibility?”
“How is that any different from a scumbag?”
Xie Yin pretended to be annoyed, punctuating her words by giving Ji Yunfei’s cheek a sharp, playful pinch.
“I… I didn’t…” Ji Yunfei found she had no retort and could only obediently let Xie Yin “ravage” her face.
“Since that’s the case… I’ll give you one more chance. What should you be calling me?”
“Xie Yin—”
“Ouch—!” Before the words were fully out, the pressure on her cheek intensified. She looked up to see Xie Yin staring at her with a fake, chilling smile.
“Wrong answer… Your very last chance.”
“Ugh… Yin-Yin… gentler, please…”
Only then did Xie Yin let go, her expression shifting to one of satisfaction. Ji Yunfei rubbed her pinched cheek piteously, her inner self weeping.
“Waaa… Xie Yin is a big bully…”
“What if my face gets stuck looking like a pinched puppy…”
“Now… can you tell me… why you were avoiding me?” Xie Yin’s voice rose again, this time with a hint of gentle coaxing.
Talking about this made Ji Yunfei feel incredibly embarrassed. If she admitted she was sulking because she misunderstood the situation between Xie Yin and Rika… that would be too humiliating!
“Hehe… well, about that…” Ji Yunfei tried to act cute to get out of it, but she was pushed back by Xie Yin’s serious gaze. She let out a heavy sigh, closed her eyes in resignation, and dumped out everything that had happened over the past few days.
“The night of the party… in the backyard, you and Rika… I saw everything…”
By the time she finished her summary, Ji Yunfei was red from head to toe, looking like a boiled crab. She covered her face with both hands, unwilling to face Xie Yin’s reaction.
“Pfft…”
“Do you know… you really are a little dummy?”
“But I’m also glad you’re such a dummy… that way, no one else can steal you away.”
Xie Yin chuckled. She gently pulled Ji Yunfei’s hands away from her face and then flipped over to straddle her.
“Xie Yin, do you have to be so good at this…”
“I’m really going to be too embarrassed!!”
“Is this a posture a normal boss and subordinate should have?”
Despite her inner thoughts, Ji Yunfei’s body was very honest. she allowed Xie Yin to move as she pleased, showing no signs of resistance. Her hand was gently taken and led upward until it rested against Xie Yin’s cheek.
“Next time you watch a play, watch the whole thing… little dummy Ji.”
“Rika and I have a purely commercial partnership… nothing beyond that.”
“Business partners need to maintain their relationships, too…”
“I just accidentally made a certain little dummy jealous.”
Having her thoughts exposed, Ji Yunfei felt even more mortified. She opened her mouth but couldn’t squeeze out a single word for the longest time.
“Ji Yunfei.”
“Yes?” Being called by her full name suddenly made Ji Yunfei snap to attention.
“You like me.” It was a statement, not a question.
“Who… who said that…” The temperature of Ji Yunfei’s ears skyrocketed. She didn’t know where to look.
“Then why didn’t you reject my ‘overstepping’ behavior yesterday?”
“I… I…”
“I just didn’t want to pick a fight with a drunkard…”
Perfect. Xie Yin only needed one sentence to defeat the stubborn Ji Yunfei. Sensing Xie Yin’s “puppy-teasing” gaze, Ji Yunfei closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and after much hesitation, finally admitted the feelings hidden in the depths of her heart.
“Yes, I like you, Xie Yin.”
“Even after denying it to myself countless times, I still couldn’t lie to my own heart…”
“I know the gap between us… so…”
Tears fell before her words could finish. Ji Yunfei began to sob, the corners of her eyes turning a soft crimson.
“Do you have any idea how much you unintentionally flirt…?”
“A normal person wouldn’t be able to stop themselves from liking you…”
“Carrying those unrealistic delusions… I’ve been so miserable.”
Getting emotional, Ji Yunfei didn’t even have time to wipe away the tears falling like broken pearls, letting them splash onto the bedding.
“How do you know… it wasn’t intentional?”
That one sentence made Ji Yunfei forget to sob instantly. Her brain kicked into high gear, processing the simple yet information-heavy words. Xie Yin reached out and wiped the remaining tear tracks from her face, her eyes projecting deep tenderness directly into Ji Yunfei’s.
“A-Fei…”
“You should be more confident.”
“You are excellent… you are worthy of being loved.”
“So, my liking you… was never just your delusion.”
“Look into my eyes.”
Xie Yin closed the distance between them, tenderly cupping Ji Yunfei’s face as she spoke solemnly:
“The fact that I like you is beyond doubt.”
“You can confirm it with me, over and over again.”
“I will give you one hundred percent certainty…”
“Do you want to be with me?”
Boom— A dull roar sounded in her head. Ji Yunfei felt like her brain had turned into mush, losing all capacity for thought.
“Xie Yin likes me?”
“She’s saying she likes me while completely sober?!!!”
“And she wants to be with me??”
“Am I sure I haven’t actually gone to heaven…”
“I…” The words were stuck in her throat. Ji Yunfei probably needed a bit of time to sort this out.
“Don’t worry if you can’t process it right now.”
“I’ll give you enough time until you’ve thought it through…”
Xie Yin sighed silently. It was impossible to say she wasn’t a little disappointed, but she also understood that, given Ji Yunfei’s personality, it would be strange if she had agreed immediately. It didn’t matter. She had the confidence and the time to let the little wooden head think it over. She had waited over a thousand years; what was a little more time now?
Just as Xie Yin started to get up, her arm was grabbed by the person beneath her and she was pulled back. She raised an eyebrow, looking curiously at the awkward-looking girl.
“I… let me talk things through with Su Yao before I give you an answer, okay…?”
“Or…” Ji Yunfei paused mid-sentence, a look of determination entering her eyes. “Come with me to see her in a few days…”
“Hehe… nothing would please me more… A-Fei.” After hearing this, Xie Yin could no longer hide her smile. She rubbed the top of the younger girl’s fluffy hair and gave a tender response.
“Then… then that’s that.”
“You—you get off first…”
“I need to change.”
After “chasing” the person off her, Ji Yunfei slid under the covers with a whoosh and gave herself two mental slaps.
“Ji Yunfei, are you crazy?”
“Taking Xie Yin to see Su Yao??”
“Waaa…”
But since the words were already out, there was no taking them back. She could only accept her fate. She quickly changed her clothes and peeked her head out.
“Ahem… Xie…”
“Yin-Yin… could you hand me my phone, please?”
“The little dummy is learning fast… here you go~” Hearing Ji Yunfei take the initiative to change the way she addressed her, fireworks went off in Xie Yin’s heart. On the surface, she merely curled her lips and handed the phone over in high spirits.
Having retrieved her phone, Ji Yunfei quickly opened her chat with Su Yao and sent an invitation.
FFF: “Sister Yao… are you free tomorrow night?”
FFF: “Let’s lay everything out and talk?”
