Beauty Snake - Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Little Puppy-Snake Yin-Yin…
Pulled suddenly into a forceful embrace, Ji Yunfei’s brain instantly short-circuited. Her shoulders were firmly restrained; she tried to struggle free, but it was futile.
Suddenly, her shoulder felt a heavy weight as a patch of warmth pressed against her ear. The faint scent of narcissus, mixed with the sharp aroma of alcohol, swirled around her nose. These two completely different, conflicting scents somehow blended harmoniously in this moment, making Ji Yunfei feel a little tipsy herself.
That familiar narcissus scent… it was Xie Yin’s comforting fragrance.
“Mmm…”
The person holding her tight moved her head even closer. Her nose twitched, and like a little puppy, she began to sniff softly at the air around Ji Yunfei.
“A-Fei…”
“You have the scent of someone else on you…”
“You fickle, silly goose…”
Xie Yin’s soft, grumbling voice tickled her ear. The hot breath fanned against her neck, and Ji Yunfei felt the tips of her ears turn scorching hot in an instant.
“Wait—!”
Ji Yunfei suddenly felt a chill on her shoulder. Glancing sideways, she realized the person behind her had used her free hand to tug at her collar.
“Hiss—!”
Before she could protest, her shoulder was bitten. Though drunk, Xie Yin still had enough sense to control her strength. Her teeth ground gently against the skin—a tingly, numbing sensation that traveled up Ji Yunfei’s shoulder and straight to her brain.
“Xie Yin… are you a dog?”
Ji Yunfei gritted her teeth, her voice carrying a hint of a reprimand, but a secret delight was blooming in her heart. She had to admit, she liked this version of Xie Yin—acting like a jealous puppy—much better.
“Hmph… you’re the puppy…”
“I’m a snake…”
Xie Yin huffed twice, her tone full of “grievance,” and then she actually corrected Ji Yunfei with complete seriousness.
“Fine, fine… you’re a snake. You’re a snake.”
“Can you let go of me first, please?”
Hearing the answer, Ji Yunfei couldn’t help but laugh. Suppressing the urge to giggle, she patted the arms wrapped tightly around her and coaxed her gently.
To her surprise, her words didn’t make Xie Yin let go. Instead, she wrapped both arms even tighter around her.
“No…”
“If I let go, you’ll run away again…”
Xie Yin’s voice carried a hint of a sob. She whispered into Ji Yunfei’s ear, and every word pierced straight into Ji Yunfei’s heart.
“I won’t run anymore…”
Ji Yunfei placed her hand over Xie Yin’s, coaxing her while prying her fingers open one by one. The feeling of being restrained vanished as the last finger was freed. Ji Yunfei turned around to face Xie Yin. Her eyes had already adjusted to the darkness, and she could see the vague outline of the woman in front of her. Even though it was just a silhouette, Ji Yunfei’s mind filled in the blanks.
“A-Fei…” Xie Yin saw her turn around, but when she saw Ji Yunfei just standing there without moving, she spoke in a low, aggrieved voice.
“I’m here,” Ji Yunfei whispered back. Her right hand reached out instinctively, cupping Xie Yin’s cheek and stroking it gently.
Receiving a response, Xie Yin’s lips curved slightly. She leaned her cheek into the palm of Ji Yunfei’s hand and covered it with her own left hand.
“That Su-whatever… called you A-Fei…”
“Not allowed…”
At the mention of Su Yao, Xie Yin’s tone became tinged with gritted teeth, but beneath it lay a long-hidden hurt. In the dark, Ji Yunfei couldn’t see her face, but she felt the grip on her hand tighten—a clear sign of the other woman’s emotions.
This Xie Yin… even when she’s drunk, she’s so “spiteful.” But then again… maybe she didn’t drink alcohol, but a whole vat of vinegar?
The thought made Ji Yunfei laugh out loud, but she quickly realized the situation and stifled it. Still, she couldn’t wipe the grin off her face. She was just glad it was pitch black and that Xie Yin was too intoxicated to notice.
“Only you can call me A-Fei? Hmm?” “Aren’t you being a bit too overbearing?” “CEO Xie…?”
Ji Yunfei felt a bit mischievous. She leaned into Xie Yin’s ear, her tone teasing. She wanted to see this dazed, slightly embarrassed version of her.
“Hnng…” Perhaps the move was too sudden. Xie Yin let out a muffled groan, and her grip on Ji Yunfei’s hand tightened again.
“Ouch—that actually hurts a bit…”
“Fine, I won’t pick on a drunk idiot.”
“Stinky A-Fei…”
“You… you still owe me half a debt…”
“Stop calling me ‘CEO’…”
“Call me Yin-Yin~”
The soft warmth on her hand suddenly pulled away, and the next second, Ji Yunfei had her arms full of a lunging woman.
“Whoa—!”
“Xie Yin?”
The person in her arms felt boneless, her head resting heavily on Ji Yunfei’s shoulder, leaning against her neck. Her hands weren’t idle either, wrapping tightly around Ji Yunfei’s waist. It reminded her of the little snake-treasure that used to wrap around her finger…
How can Xie Yin be this clingy when she’s drunk?
Standing there with a “human puppy-snake” attached to her, Ji Yunfei felt like she was losing her stamina. She tried calling out to Xie Yin, but no matter what she said, the person in her arms didn’t respond. Soon, she heard the sound of steady, even breathing.
“She fell asleep…”
Ji Yunfei laughed helplessly. She kept one arm firmly around Xie Yin while shuffling her feet, groping for the light switch on the wall.
Click—
The room flooded with light, making Ji Yunfei wince and shut her eyes. Squinting, she carefully led the sleeping Xie Yin toward the bed. Feeling the movement, the woman in her arms restlessly rubbed her head against Ji Yunfei’s neck. Soft, long hair brushed against her skin, sending a wave of ticklishness straight to her head.
“Hiss—even asleep she won’t stay still…”
“You’re the one sleeping…”
“While I’m the one with the itchy heart…”
Grumbling inwardly, she made it to the bedside. With a tiny bit of lingering annoyance, she “dumped” Xie Yin onto the soft mattress.
Only then did she get a clear look at her.
Xie Yin was lying on her back, her black hair splayed wildly across the sheets. Her professional, almost stiff suit had somehow lost two buttons, revealing a patch of snow-white skin. Ji Yunfei, caught off guard, looked up and saw this sight. Her face instantly felt like it was on fire.
“See no evil, see no evil!!!”
She hurriedly covered her eyes with her right hand, while her left hand grabbed the duvet and wrapped it around the person on the bed. In no time, she had turned Xie Yin into a “Yin-Yin Zongzi” (rice dumpling).
“Hmph…” The “dumpling” frowned and grumbled. Then, with a sudden movement of her arm, she threw the restrictive duvet aside. She then turned over as if nothing had happened, her back to Ji Yunfei.
“Sigh…”
Seeing her lack of cooperation, Ji Yunfei sighed and went to the bathroom to get a warm towel.
“Xie Yin…” “Wipe down before you sleep…”
She pressed the towel against Xie Yin’s flushed cheek and gave her a gentle shake. However, the woman on the bed didn’t respond; instead, she swiped the towel away.
“Hot…”
“Hate it…”
“Be good… just one wipe before bed…”
“Yin-Yin…”
Xie Yin’s stubbornness broke Ji Yunfei’s temper. She softened her voice and, enduring a final wave of embarrassment, used the nickname Xie Yin wanted to hear most. She expected to be ignored again, but the name seemed to have genuinely pleased Xie Yin, even in her stupor. She stopped hiding and sprawled out on the bed in an “X” shape.
She was waiting for Ji Yunfei’s next move.
The sudden cooperation made Ji Yunfei the one who was flustered. Her hand holding the towel hovered in mid-air, unsure where to land.
“I have a legitimate reason…”
“But I still can’t bring myself to do it…”
“Aaaah… Face, please stop being so red…”
Her face was crimson and her ears were burning. She looked away, swallowed hard, and pressed the warm towel to the hollow of Xie Yin’s neck.
“Mmm…” The person on the bed seemed to find the warmth uncomfortable; she knit her brows slightly and let out a hum.
“Be good… it’ll be quick…”
Ji Yunfei lightened her touch and increased her speed, coaxing her softly. Soon, she had wiped down every bit of exposed skin from head to toe. By the time she was done, a light sweat had broken out on her own forehead—though whether it was from the effort or the intense self-restraint, she couldn’t say.
“Phew—” She wiped her brow with the back of her hand and looked at the quietly sleeping Xie Yin. Her eyes softened with tenderness. The flush on Xie Yin’s face had faded significantly. Her eyes were closed, and her eyelashes fluttered occasionally.
As she watched, Ji Yunfei became mesmerized. Her hand, resting on the edge of the bed, reached out involuntarily and touched Xie Yin’s forehead. She carefully brushed the stray hairs away, then gently pinched her cheek…
Mmm… the texture is surprisingly good… I want to pinch her more.
Thought became action. Ji Yunfei gave a secret mischievous smile and shamelessly squeezed both of Xie Yin’s cheeks, rubbing them. During the process, her thumb happened to brush against something soft…
It was Xie Yin’s lips.
Ji Yunfei’s gaze drifted uncontrollably to those rosy, delicate lips. Recalling the accidental touch, she actually felt a spark of desire to steal a kiss.
“Ji Yunfei, you’re shameless!”
“What kind of trash is filling your head?”
“Back off, back off!”
“Taking advantage of someone is a NO!”
Snapping back to reality, she scolded herself for her bold thoughts. She stood up, intending to go to the bathroom to wash off the scent of alcohol from her own body.
“A-Fei…”
Just as she was about to move, Xie Yin’s murmur sounded again from beside her…
