Beauty Snake - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Yin Yin the Snake is Satisfied!
Long after the “dental exam” incident, even though Xie Yin constantly looked for opportunities to reclaim her pride, she always ended up failing due to various interludes. Xie Yin had been prepared to throw in the towel, but opportunity always arrives in the most incredible ways.
Life in Jizi Village was fulfilling and beautiful. If possible, Ji Yunfei would have been truly happy to cast everything aside and spend her life peacefully tending to her small plot of land. But while Ji Yunfei was willing, her grandmother was not.
“Grandma, think about it. If I stay, you won’t be lonely anymore. I can help lighten your load. At your age, you really should rest more,” Ji Yunfei said with a grin, massaging her grandmother’s shoulders while whispering sweet nothings into her ear.
“You silly girl, are you already dismissing these old bones as useless? I don’t need your help; I’m happy as a clam on my own,” Grandmother countered with a pout, decisively rejecting the proposal. In her mind, young people belonged in the big cities carving out their own path, not confined to these tiny mountains. Besides, her granddaughter was her greatest pride and shouldn’t be buried in the hills.
“Xiao Fei, I think my leg is just about healed. You’ve looked after me for so long; surely your company is getting anxious? Stay a few more days and then head back. Don’t let me delay your work.”
“Oh, Grandma, you just had to bring that up. Well, the company has been pestering me to return. I was worried about you, but seeing you so lively that you look ready to grab a hoe and dig for two miles, I feel at ease. I’ve already booked my ticket for three days from now, so don’t you worry!”
“Good, good. As long as work isn’t delayed. Also, Xiao Fei, when I first broke my leg, the neighbors helped us a lot. Before you leave, let’s slaughter a pig to share with the villagers. Consider it a way to thank them.”
“Alright, I’ll handle it. You just stay put.”
“Let’s see which little piggy is the lucky winner today…?”
Oink, oink…
“It’s you!”
Xie Yin (in her snake form, watching) saw Ji Yunfei enter the pen and immediately pick out the “lucky pig” that looked to have the most tender meat. Ji Yunfei used every ounce of her strength to tie the pig down, then grabbed its ear and, with a swift motion of the blade, slit its throat. Blood sprayed forth. As time passed, the pig went from violent struggling and squealing to slowly losing its life.
Once the pig had completely moved on to the next world, Ji Yunfei raised her butcher knife and expertly broke it down into sections.
“This is for Auntie Wang… this is for Second Uncle Li…”
“Cough, cough… the smell is killing me…”
By the time all the pork was packed and ready for distribution, it was already evening. Ji Yunfei was covered in bloodstains from the slaughter, and the indescribable stench tortured her nose. She decided to treat herself to a luxurious rose bath—she needed to “marinate” herself until she smelled like flowers again to restore her mood.
“Doo doo doo… I love bathing… makes my skin so good…”
Ji Yunfei looked blissful as she “played” with a cute little rubber duck in a tub filled with rose petals. The steam brought a flush to her cheeks and a misty shimmer to her eyes. Perhaps it was the rising steam, but she felt an unprecedented sense of comfort. Gradually, drowsiness washed over her. She intended to just nap for a second, but before she knew it, she leaned against the tub and fell fast asleep.
“A-Fei, A-Fei?”
Through her grogginess, she heard someone calling her name. The voice was clear and cool, strangely familiar.
“Hmm? Why am I dreaming of you again…?”
Ji Yunfei opened her eyes a crack. Under the harsh bathroom light, a shadow loomed over her—a woman. Looking closer, she met those all-too-familiar green pupils. Perhaps influenced by that previous night, she instinctively reached out to touch the woman’s face.
“I… was worried… so I came… to see you…” Seeing Ji Yunfei being so proactive, a blush crept onto Xie Yin’s face, and her speech became hesitant.
“Whoa, whoa…”
“Hehehe, why is this dream so real? Her skin feels so good…”
In her daze, Ji Yunfei didn’t hear a word Xie Yin said. The moment her hand touched Xie Yin’s face, she began to “knead” it like play-dough, squishing the left cheek and pinching the right.
Slap!
“Ow! Turns out dreams can hurt too.”
Unable to endure it any longer, Xie Yin slapped away the “malicious” hand. Ji Yunfei winced, retracting her hand and blowing on it, wondering why a dream would involve physical pain. But the woman spoke again, interrupting her confusion.
“Is my face fun to pinch?”
“Of course it is.” Ji Yunfei nodded with a grin; it was a self-evident truth.
“But it hurts quite a bit to be pinched… what do you think we should do about that, A-Fei?”
The woman was smiling, but for some reason, Ji Yunfei felt a chill down her spine.
“Um… how about I let you pinch me back?” Her stalled brain could only come up with this solution.
“How would that be enough? As for what to do… of course, it’s the victim’s call.”
“Huh? Mmph—”
Ji Yunfei wanted to argue, but the woman hooked a finger under her chin, gently tilting her head up. She watched as the masked face drew closer. Their breaths intertwined and tangled once more after months apart.
But unlike before, the woman clearly had mischief in mind. She merely brushed a light kiss against the corner of Ji Yunfei’s lips, like a dragonfly skimming water, before immediately pulling back to a safe distance.
It was cold… I want to touch it more.
That was the first thought that popped into Ji Yunfei’s mind. She reached out, wanting to pull the retreating woman back, but she only grasped empty air.
Seeing Ji Yunfei’s look of disappointment, Xie Yin blinked, a smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth.
“No can do. Any more and it would turn into a reward for you.”
With that, Xie Yin tapped Ji Yunfei’s forehead with a satisfied mood, causing her to fall back into a deep sleep. Then, with a flick of her body, she transformed back into a cute snake. Suppressing the heat in her heart, she slithered back to the room, pretending nothing had happened.
“Ugh… ah, I slept for so long… and I dreamed of that person again…”
After a while, Ji Yunfei slowly woke up. As her consciousness cleared, she remembered the events of the “dream.” Her fingers touched the corner of her lips where she had been kissed. That soft, cool sensation felt deeply branded there. She likely didn’t even realize the overflowing smile in her eyes.
But then, thinking of the woman’s mischievous behavior, she felt a bit indignant. She better not show up in my dreams again, or I’ll have to take my ‘fair share’ back sooner or later.
“Snake babies! Come, come, come! It’s fresh pork today!”
Feeling refreshed after her bath and smelling of roses, Ji Yunfei brought some boiled pork tenderloin to feed her snakes. Such fresh meat had to be shared with her darlings.
“Rascal, Rascal, come here! Time for dinner!”
She went to feed Xie Yin first, but Xie Yin was in no mood for pork. The unbearable heat flushing through her body and the lingering scent of roses in the air made her want to devour the person in front of her.
However, reason eventually triumphed over primal instinct. Having barely endured the most difficult phase, Xie Yin huddled listlessly in the rockery. The increasingly frequent cycles of heat made her realize it was time to take action. It was time to appear in Ji Yunfei’s life in a different way.
At that thought, a look of reluctance flickered in Xie Yin’s eyes, but it was quickly suppressed and replaced by firm determination.
“The time is almost right. I’m sorry, A-Fei…”
