- Chapter 7 - Announces Marriage on Weibo
Huo Xuanye sprawled onto the bed.
Li Su scooted aside. “Didn’t we just agree you’d sleep on the sofa?”
Huo Xuanye tugged a thin blanket over himself, draping it casually over his waist, and said with a lazy smirk, “I never agreed to that.”
Li Su frowned. “What exactly do you want?”
Huo Xuanye chuckled. “Li Su, I’m a pampered young master too. I can’t sleep on a sofa. If you like it so much, you go sleep there.”
Li Su was utterly exasperated. “Huo Xuanye, you…”
“Wife, because you’re next to me, I didn’t even take my clothes off tonight. Normally, I sleep naked when I’m alone.”
Li Su: “????”
“Last night, we already shared a bed. What are you afraid of?” Huo Xuanye pulled the blanket up to his neck. “If anything, I should be the one worried. You’re the one who has designs on my face.”
Huo Xuanye actually made a fair point.
But,
Last night, she had been drunk and unaware when she ended up sleeping beside him.
Tonight, staying sober and sleeping next to Huo Xuanye was a bit too much.
Li Su got out of bed.
Fine, she’d sleep on the sofa!
Huo Xuanye scoffed. “Miss, my bed is plenty big.”
Li Su didn’t even look back. “Then you can sleep sideways~”
Sleep sideways?
What did that even mean?
Had he married a wife just to be denied even sharing a bed?
It wasn’t like he said he’d do anything.
Then again, he hadn’t said he wouldn’t.
Li Su lay on the sofa. Instead of sleeping in her own soft, comfortable bed, she was here on the sofa, all because of her own choices. She had no one to blame but herself.
Her thoughts wandered, and soon she drifted into a hazy sleep.
The next morning.
A car pulled into the Huo residence.
A young, handsome man stormed out, his eyes blazing with fury.
Striding purposefully, he marched into the hall and headed straight for the man who had just come downstairs.
“Huo Zhenzhou, you bastard!”
Bam!
His fist landed squarely on Huo Zhenzhou’s face.
Huo Zhenzhou touched his cheek. “Who are you? Why did you hit me? A gentleman uses words, not fists.”
“A gentleman? You don’t deserve that title! You were engaged to my sister for a year. Three months ago, you disappeared. She worried day and night, cried herself sick, almost wasted away, and you, this bastard, were living it up on some island with someone else, even getting married!”
“How could you do this to her?”
Li Chen’s rage flared, and he swung at Huo Zhenzhou again.
“Stop it!”
Zhou Motang shouted, rushing forward to shield Huo Zhenzhou. “How dare you hit him?”
Li Chen was livid, glaring at Huo Zhenzhou. “My sister couldn’t eat or sleep because of you, and you betrayed her by marrying someone else!”
Huo Zhenzhou panted, pulling Zhou Motang to his side. “I lost my memory. I don’t even remember having a fiancée! Calm down.”
Li Chen’s face flushed red with fury, veins bulging in his neck, looking ready to beat Huo Zhenzhou to death.
“Brother!”
Hearing the commotion, Li Su rushed over and grabbed Li Chen’s arm. “Brother, stop hitting him~”
Li Chen wished he could skewer Huo Zhenzhou with his glare. “After what he did to you, you still care about him?”
“Brother, I don’t care about him. I care about your hand hurting and your heart getting worked up.” Li Su patted Li Chen’s chest, soothing him.
Her brother had trained in boxing since childhood, his body built with solid muscle. The punches he’d just thrown at Huo Zhenzhou were brutal, each one landing with full force.
Now, Huo Zhenzhou sat on the sofa, supported by Zhou Motang, his face covered in dark bruises and swollen marks.
He looked particularly pitiful, utterly wretched.
“Honey, does it hurt?” Zhou Motang’s eyes reddened, tears instantly spilling from the corners. “How could he hit you so hard? Losing your memory wasn’t your fault…”
Huo Zhenzhou shook his head slightly.
“Miss Li, isn’t your brother going too far? How could he hit A-Zhou like that?”
“He deserved it.” Li Chen gritted his teeth. “We don’t care for the Huo family’s prestige.”
With that, Li Chen grabbed Li Su and walked away.
“Brother-in-law, brother-in-law, where are you taking my wife?”
Earlier, Li Su had rushed downstairs in a hurry, but Huo Xuanye hadn’t.
He had changed into a white shirt and dress pants, making sure his attire was impeccable before descending.
Li Chen, still fuming, roared, “What brother-in-law? Don’t call me that! I’ll never acknowledge you!”
“Brother-in-law, that’s not fair. My brother is my brother, and I am me. Susu is my wife now.” Huo Xuanye smiled faintly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Wife, if you leave, what about me?”
Li Chen sneered, “Who cares about you!”
Before Li Su could say a word, her brother shoved her into the car.
Huo Xuanye watched the car speed away, his displeasure reaching its peak.
His wife had been taken back to her family by her brother!
His wife was gone!!!
Huo Xuanye turned around, his expression darkening.
In the hall, Huo Bowen and Xiao Qiyu were gathered around Huo Zhenzhou, fussing over him.
His brother had just returned, a miraculous recovery, the center of the family’s attention.
No one cared that his wife had gone back to her parents’ home.
The black car raced down the road, the atmosphere inside heavy.
Li Chen clenched his fists. He had flown back from abroad and gone straight to the Huo family.
Even though he had beaten Huo Zhenzhou, the anger in his heart remained unresolved.
Li Su asked softly, “Brother, does your hand hurt?”
Li Chen’s veins bulged on his forehead. “I’m not in pain. My heart aches for you. Back when he went missing, you went to the seaside every day, praying day and night, collapsing from grief multiple times. Now he’s back safe and sound, but with a wife in tow. What does that make your feelings for him?”
Li Su replied quietly, “Just memories, I guess.”
It was cruel that she was the only one who remembered.
“And what’s going on with you and Huo Xuanye? Mom and Dad said you two had a whirlwind marriage. He’s Huo Zhenzhou’s own brother! After how Huo Zhenzhou treated you, why would you wade into the Huo family’s mess?”
“Tell me, what were you thinking?”
Li Chen had always been gentle with his sister, so this harsh, interrogative tone was a first for Li Su.
“We just… impulsively got married,” Li Su answered indifferently.
Li Chen’s expression turned grave. “Mom and Dad said you’re using him as a substitute. Li Su, are all the men in the world dead? Do you love Huo Zhenzhou so much that now that he’s married, you’d marry his brother? I don’t approve of this marriage. Divorce him!”
As soon as he finished speaking, his phone rang.
It was a message from his assistant, a screenshot of Weibo, showing Huo Xuanye’s post with their marriage certificate.
Huo Xuanye had publicly announced their marriage on Weibo.
Li Chen’s hands trembled with rage as he opened the app. The news of Huo Xuanye and Li Su’s marriage was already trending, followed by a blazing red “Explosive” tag.
[You two got married???]
[No way! I thought someone was just messing with the Wiki page yesterday!]
[Is the eldest Huo brother dead or something?]
[After my brother drowned at sea, I married my ex-sister-in-law!]
[Real-life version: “Sis-in-law, open the door, it’s me, your brother!”]
[What if, just what if big brother comes back? Two brothers and only one female lead, how are they gonna split her? Hehe~]
[There were rumors online that Li Su was so heartbroken over her missing fiancé she couldn’t even attend the show’s recording. And now she’s married to his younger brother? What’s with the devoted lover act? Disgusting!]
Li Chen frowned as he read, then Huo Xuanye posted another Weibo update.
