Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother - Chapter 52
While playing with her phone and eating snacks to distract herself from the unbearable pain in her leg, Li Su heard footsteps outside and instinctively looked up.
The person who entered wasn’t Huo Zhenzhou at all, it was still Huo Xuanye!
Oh.
But something was different.
Whose foundation did he borrow?!
He had actually covered up the mole on the tip of his nose.
His face looked so strange.
Huo Xuanye began his act: “Hello, sister-in-law. I came to see you.”
With a solemn expression, he walked in, doing his best to imitate Huo Zhenzhou’s demeanor.
Li Su pressed her lips together to stifle a laugh.
At first glance, Huo Xuanye and Huo Zhenzhou looked quite similar.
But when he deliberately pretended, it felt just a little off.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Aren’t you happy to see your ex-fiancé visiting you?”
Huo Xuanye sat properly by the hospital bed. “Sister-in-law.”
Li Su shuddered in disgust. “Huo Xuanye, come here.”
“I’m not Huo Xuanye. I’m Huo Zhenzhou,” he insisted, still playing his role.
“Come here,” Li Su commanded.
“I’m my brother!”
“One, two-”
Before she even reached three, Huo Xuanye leaned his head forward. “Are you going to kiss me?”
Li Su vigorously rubbed the foundation off the tip of his nose, revealing his natural mole.
“I’m not my brother anymore…” Huo Xuanye muttered under his breath.
“I only kiss my husband. Is Huo Zhenzhou my husband? Let me kiss him.” She wiped her hands on him. “Stop messing around.”
Not letting him pretend to be his brother meant that, in Li Su’s eyes, he was more important than his brother right now.
She wanted him by her side, not his brother.
“I’m your husband. You can kiss me…”
Li Su rolled her eyes. “Weren’t you enjoying the act?”
“No, no! The only one I love is my wife, Li Su.”
When Li Su didn’t kiss him, Huo Xuanye leaned in and kissed her instead.
Mwah, mwah… two pecks on the left cheek, two kisses on the right.
“Wife, please get better soon.”
Li Su gently touched his face. “I want to recover quickly too, but I can’t even get out of bed right now.”
“No matter how long it takes for you to heal, I’ll be here with you.”
For now, it had only been a few days since her injury, and Huo Xuanye still had patience.
Whether he would remain patient in the future, only time would tell.
Half a month after the incident, Li Su was finally able to use a wheelchair.
Huo Xuanye carried her into the wheelchair and took her downstairs for some fresh air.
After being cooped up in the hospital room for two weeks, she was practically growing mold.
The sunlight was lovely today.
But even in early September, the weather was still scorching.
Huo Xuanye parked the wheelchair in the shade under a large tree.
“I want ice cream.”
“Husband, could you buy me some ice cream?”
For the past two weeks, Li Su had been eating nothing but nutritional meals. She was desperate for something different.
“Let me ask the doctor if you can have some.” Huo Xuanye immediately pulled out his phone to send a message.
“The doctor hasn’t replied.” He frowned. “Probably busy.”
“I can have it.” Li Su smiled sweetly. “Husband, I’ll just take a bite. You can finish the rest.”
Huo Xuanye couldn’t resist her coquettish tone and immediately went to buy it.
The moment he left, Zhou Motang, who had been hiding nearby, rushed out.
Li Su had been looking down at her phone when a sharp gust of wind swept past her. She looked up to see Zhou Motang’s furious face.
“Can I help you?”
Li Su remained completely calm.
This was a hospital. No matter how angry Zhou Motang was, she probably wouldn’t do anything reckless here, right?
“Has Huo Zhenzhou visited you recently?” Zhou Motang cut straight to the point.
“No.”
“You’re lying! He hasn’t returned to the Huo residence for half a month. If he didn’t come to see you, where did he go?” Zhou Motang demanded.
“You’re so strange. He’s your husband, yet you’re asking me, his ex-fiancée, where he is. All I know is that my husband is with me at the hospital every day. As for your husband, go find him yourself,” Li Suo replied, utterly exasperated.
Just the sight of Zhou Motang made her angry.
If it weren’t for her, Li Su wouldn’t be injured in the first place.
She should have been on stage right now, performing under the lights, enjoying the spotlight and the audience’s applause.
Instead, she was stuck in a wheelchair, waiting for her body to recover, facing a long and grueling rehabilitation process.
If Huo Xuanye hadn’t been by her side every day, making her laugh, she would have fallen into depression by now.
Zhou Motang suppressed her anger. “I am looking for him. You know him so well, you must have some idea where he is, right?”
“Miss Zhou, I don’t know where your husband is,” Li Su said politely but coldly.
“You know he wants a divorce, don’t you? I think he might have regained his memory, remembering that he loved you, and that’s why he wants to leave me. Li Su, you’re already married to Huo Xuanye now. I’m begging you, if he comes to you, don’t give him hope. We fought so hard to be together. I don’t want to lose him.”
In Li Su’s memory, Huo Zhenzhou had only appeared outside the operating room on the day of her accident.
For the past half month, he hadn’t visited her hospital room even once.
As for whether Huo Zhenzhou had fully recovered his memories, she had no idea.
Even Huo Xuanye might not know.
“Whether you divorce or not is your business. It has nothing to do with me. Don’t try to guilt-trip me,” Li Su said icily, unwilling to engage further with Zhou Motang.
She turned her wheelchair, but Zhou Motang stubbornly stepped in front of her again.
Li Su’s expression darkened with impatience.
Zhou Motang lowered her posture, seemingly pleading, but her voice was loud and commanding. “Li Su, I know you hate me. I stole your fiancé. But what’s done is done, there’s no going back. The arrow has left the bow. You and him are impossible now. Huo Xuanye treats you so well, you shouldn’t betray him. I’m begging you, let A-Zhou go!”
“Give him back to me, okay?”
“Just tell me where he is!”
A deep, sharp voice cut in. “I’ll tell you where he is.”
Huo Xuanye strode over, handing Li Su an ice cream cone.
She had been craving it earlier, but Zhou Motang’s sudden appearance had killed her appetite.
Zhou Motang looked up urgently. “Where is he?”
“Room 8809, the hotel where you held your wedding.”
Zhou Motang took a hurried step forward, then paused. “You’re not lying to me, are you?”
“I hope the two of you can settle this. If living apart isn’t working, then talk it out properly.” Huo Xuanye pushed Li Su’s wheelchair forward. “Miss Zhou, I’d prefer if you didn’t show up in front of my wife again. Neither of us welcomes you.”
Zhou Motang shot Li Su a resentful glare before storming off.
Huo Xuanye looked down. “Why aren’t you eating?”
“Lost my appetite.”
Li Su handed the cone back to him.
“My fault. I should’ve run faster to get back sooner and spared you from her,” Huo Xuanye said guiltily.
He didn’t have an appetite either.
And besides…
He never had much of a sweet tooth.
Huo Xuanye gave the ice cream cone to a child and then continued pushing Li Su along for their walk.
This time, he wouldn’t leave Li Su’s side for even a moment.
