- Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother
- Chapter 46 - Who’s the Better Kisser
After spending seven days traveling together, Huo Xuanye and Li Su returned to the capital.
Once back, Li Su headed straight to the dance studio.
The Qixi Festival was just over ten days away.
A production team had invited Li Su to perform a dance as a guest on the night of Qixi.
She hadn’t worked in a while due to wedding preparations, so she immediately accepted and flew back to the country.
The entire way, Huo Xuanye’s resentful gaze practically burned into her.
Back when she was dating Huo Zhenzhou, it was always him who coaxed her.
But now that she was married to Huo Xuanye, was she supposed to be the one comforting him?
Li Su didn’t bother. Instead, she asked him first, “We’ve been together the whole time, whether abroad or back home. What exactly are you upset about?”
In the speeding car, Huo Xuanye wrapped an arm around her waist. “It’s different. Once we’re back, we’ll both be busy with work, and there’ll be more people at home. Nothing will be as convenient.”
During their vacation abroad, the Huo family’s property had only been serviced by staff who came to clean and cook, otherwise, the villa was just the two of them.
It really had been convenient.
So convenient that Huo Xuanye had gone through who-knows-how-many condoms!
Thankfully, she had trained in dance since childhood and had good flexibility, otherwise, she would’ve been wrecked by him long ago.
“It’s not so bad. The bedroom is big enough, and I won’t be staying in the capital all the time anyway. I’ll be traveling for performances. If you’re free, you can come with me, we can have dates outside.” She patted his hand lightly. “How’s that?”
“So I get the same treatment as my brother now.”
Huo Xuanye murmured, “Su Su, everything he did with you, I’ll do it all with you too, okay?”
“We’ve already done plenty of things he and I never did.”
“Like getting married!”
That was something he could be smug about.
Suddenly, Huo Xuanye turned Li Su’s face toward him. “Wife, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask, between me and my brother, who’s the better kisser now?”
Forget the past.
He hadn’t kissed her back then.
He wanted to compare now.
And they still had a driver in the front seat.
Huo Xuanye really had no sense of timing.
“If you don’t answer, are you savoring the memory?” His thumb brushed lightly over her soft, plump lips. “Hmm?”
If Li Su dared to say his brother, he would kiss her right then and there.
And make her teach him.
Where exactly was he falling short compared to his brother?
If she couldn’t give a proper answer, he’d kiss her until she cried today.
Li Su replied softly, “No, it’s been too long… I don’t even remember anymore…”
Huo Xuanye’s jealousy flared. “If you did remember, would you be savoring it?”
“Huo Xuanye, can you stop being unreasonable? Why ask such meaningless questions just to torture yourself with jealousy and anger?” She swatted his hand away. “Do we really have to compare?”
Huo Xuanye stared at her.
She hadn’t answered directly.
Did that mean his kissing skills really weren’t as good as his brother’s?
Well, it made sense.
His brother had been with her for nearly two years, while they had only been married for just over a month.
Not even two months yet.
If his kissing wasn’t as good as his brother’s, it was her fault.
They hadn’t kissed enough.
Li Su waved a hand in front of his face. “Are you even listening to me?”
Huo Xuanye’s gaze had clearly drifted, who knew what he was thinking about.
“I heard you.”
It wasn’t like he was deliberately seeking out frustration. It was just male pride.
He wanted to compare. He wanted to compete.
Most importantly, he wanted to win.
As for questions like who Li Su preferred, the kind that were practically self-inflicted humiliation, Huo Xuanye wouldn’t ask those now.
But in the future…
He’d definitely ask!!!
“Don’t go looking for trouble in the future. Why bring him up when everything was fine?” Li Su’s eyes flashed with displeasure. “I’m happy to be back in the country today, don’t make me slap you.”
Huo Xuanye gave a slight nod. “Baby, I was wrong.”
There wasn’t a trace of genuine apology in his tone.
Li Su had a feeling Huo Xuanye would bring it up again.
The car pulled up outside the dance studio, and Li Su stepped out. “Bye.”
“I’ll pick you up tonight.”
“No need. We’ll probably be rehearsing late.”
Huo Xuanye remained in the car, watching Li Su’s figure disappear before driving off.
The car moved slowly through the traffic.
The Huo residence wasn’t in the suburbs but in the bustling city center, a quiet retreat amidst the urban clamor, surrounded by all the necessary amenities.
As the car neared the Huo estate, Huo Xuanye spotted a hurried figure darting into a nearby café.
As far as he knew, Zhou Motang had no friends in the capital.
His brother was at the company at this hour.
Her rushed movements and furtive glances were suspicious.
“Stop the car.”
The driver pulled over.
Huo Xuanye got out. “Go ahead without me.”
The driver drove off.
Putting on sunglasses, Huo Xuanye entered the café and spotted Zhou Motang sitting in a corner. He chose a blind spot, ordered a coffee, and sat down.
In the tranquil café, Zhou Motang stared at Zhou Zhanpeng, who sat across from her wearing a cap, utterly exasperated.
“What do you mean, give you money? Didn’t I already give you ten million? You’ve burned through it already?”
“I told you to leave, to stop gambling. Did you listen to me?”
“Why won’t you listen?”
Zhou Motang was so angry her head throbbed.
Zhou Zhanpeng lowered his voice. “I owed some money before. After paying it off, I thought my daughter married into a wealthy family, maybe my luck’s turned. If I could win, I could even give you some money.”
“I don’t need your money! I just need you to stay out of my life!”
“Do you think it’s easy living in a wealthy family?”
“His younger brother is married too, to a rich heiress. Their wedding, their dresses, everything was better than ours. The Li family gave a dowry, but I had nothing. The dowry and betrothal gifts were all paid by Huo Zhenzhou. All I have is the allowance they give me. The jewelry and gifts from the elders, I can’t sell them, I can only wear them…”
“Dad, I’m struggling here. I’m begging you, can’t you let your daughter have some peace?”
Zhou Motang wanted to cry.
Why was life so hard for her, while Li Su had it so easy?
“I already gave you the money. If you lost it, that’s your problem. Don’t come to me, I don’t have any more.”
Zhou Motang stood up to leave.
Zhou Zhanpeng grabbed her wrist and pulled her back down. “Sweetheart, I’m sorry. I swear, this is the last time! The very last! Save me, and I’ll listen to you from now on. I won’t show my face, and I won’t go to Huo Zhenzhou.”
Reluctantly, Zhou Motang sat back down. “How much do you owe?”
Zhou Zhanpeng held up five fingers.
“Five million.”
Zhou Motang hadn’t even spent ten million on herself.
Zhou Zhanpeng nodded guiltily.
Her father used to act high and mighty around her. Now that she’d married into wealth, had money, could give him a good life, could save him, his attitude had changed.
Humble, pleading, desperate for cash.
Zhou Motang didn’t want to give it to him, but she feared Zhou Zhanpeng might storm off to Huo Zhenzhou in a fit of anger.
That would ruin everything.
“I can’t come up with the money right now, I need time to gather it,” Zhou Motang said quietly. “You should leave first. Whatever you do, don’t let the Huo family find you.”
“Alright, daughter. But besides the debt, you’ll give me some settling money too, won’t you? I can’t leave the capital empty-handed…”
Zhou Zhanpeng pulled his hat lower over his face. “Daughter, you’re helping your father pay off his debts, and in return, I’ll do things for you.”
Zhou Motang was too furious to respond. She refused to look at him. “I just want you gone. Never appear in my life again. We’re cutting ties, father and daughter no more.”
“Fine, fine.”
Zhou Zhanpeng left the café, got into a taxi, and pulled out his phone to search for Li Su’s name. He zoomed in on the profile photo, his eyes darkening with malice as he studied the face.
Back inside the café, Zhou Motang sat alone, sipping her coffee. Unbeknownst to her, Huo Xuanye, who had secretly followed her, had already slipped away.
