- Amnesiac Fiancé Married Another, So I Married His Brother
- Chapter 42 - The Wedding of Li Ye Couple
Although Huo Zhenzhou hadn’t fully regained his memories, he had recalled many moments with his family and some work-related matters.
In his memory, his brotherly bond with Huo Xuanye was quite good.
Zhuo Yang had also mentioned that the brothers shared a close relationship.
Given their strong bond, how could he, as the elder brother, not attend Huo Xuanye’s wedding?
When he had gotten married, Li Su hadn’t avoided it either.
“You don’t want me to go?” Huo Zhenzhou tossed the question back to Huo Xuanye.
“Bro, you’re my own brother, of course I want you at my wedding. But then again…” Huo Xuanye shed his usual lazy, roguish demeanor. “I’m worried you might get triggered and suddenly regain your memories, then try to steal my wife.”
Huo Zhenzhou replied calmly, “I’m already married.”
“Being married doesn’t guarantee anything. Bro, swear it to me.”
Huo Zhenzhou looked puzzled.
Huo Xuanye pulled out his phone. “Bro, this is the wedding gift I want most from you. Swear that even if you regain your memories in the future, you won’t steal my wife.”
The bachelor party was lively, with plenty of people around.
But everyone was busy having fun, and no one paid them any attention.
Huo Zhenzhou stared at Huo Xuanye’s phone, his expression serious. “I swear that after regaining my memories, I won’t steal Huo Xuanye’s wife.”
This was so bizarre!
Why did everyone assume he’d deeply regret it once his memories returned?
He was already gradually recovering his memories, yet he still hadn’t recalled anything about Li Su.
Didn’t that mean their past love hadn’t been all that unforgettable?
Huo Xuanye saved the video on his phone. “Bro, I believe you’re a man of your word. You’ll keep your promise.”
Huo Xuanye felt like he could sleep soundly tonight.
Tomorrow, he’d go pick up Li Su early.
Speaking of Li Su, he missed her a little.
Huo Xuanye set down his glass, grabbed his phone, and stepped out onto the balcony to video call her.
The screen connected, showing Li Su lounging lazily against the headboard. “Wife, what are you up to?”
Li Su replied, “Getting ready to sleep.”
“So early?”
“Need to wake up early tomorrow, so I’m turning in early today.”
Huo Xuanye wished he could crawl through the screen and lie beside her. “Aren’t you going to keep me in check?”
Huo Xuanye wasn’t a child anymore, why did he love being managed so much?
Li Su smiled. “Go ahead and have fun if you want. But if you’re late picking me up tomorrow, you can explain it to my brother.”
Huo Xuanye: “…”
Li Chen would definitely beat him up.
“I’m heading home right now.”
As soon as he said this, the balcony door opened, and a few friends carrying drinks stepped out.
“Good evening, sister-in-law!”
“Sister-in-law checking in?”
“Don’t worry, it’s just a bunch of guys here.”
“Wild Bro, you’re the main character, how can you hide out here flirting with sister-in-law on video? Come drink with us!”
They all waved at Li Su through the screen.
“Go ahead, have fun. My wife just called and told me to hurry home and sleep,” Huo Xuanye shamelessly shifted the blame onto Li Su right in front of her.
With a smug, cocky grin, he added, “You unmarried folks without wives to keep you in line just wouldn’t understand!”
Li Su on the other end of the call: “…”
Oh, really?
No wonder her neck had been hurting lately, she’d been carrying the weight of his blame.
After Huo Xuanye sent the others away, he glanced at his phone, the call had ended.
Had she gone to sleep?
Well, he’d head home and sleep too.
The next day.
Huo Xuanye woke up bright and early.
Today, he even had a makeup artist.
They were getting ready to head to the Li family home to pick up Li Su.
Huo Zhenzhou stepped out and said, “A’Ye, you all go ahead first. Your sister-in-law isn’t feeling well, so we might be late.”
Huo Xuanye, brimming with joy, waved at him. “Brother, sister-in-law’s health comes first.”
Upstairs, Zhou Motang quietly stood by the window, watching the convoy leave before lying back down on the bed.
Not long after, Huo Zhenzhou returned to the room carrying a bowl of light vegetable porridge.
Zhou Motang looked weak as she said, “I’m sorry. Today is your brother and sister-in-law’s wedding, but I’m not feeling well. It’s my fault you can’t attend the wedding. You won’t blame me, will you?”
She didn’t want Huo Zhenzhou to go.
She didn’t dare take the risk.
Last night, she had a nightmare where Huo Zhenzhou suddenly regained his memory at the wedding, rushed onto the stage to stop the ceremony, and Li Su ran off with him.
Leaving her awkwardly in the audience and Huo Xuanye devastated on stage.
To prevent her nightmare from becoming reality, Zhou Motang had to keep Huo Zhenzhou by her side today and ensure he didn’t attend the wedding.
“Your health is the most important thing. The doctor will be here soon.”
The Huo residence had a family doctor, but some things couldn’t be detected by a doctor.
She just claimed she was unwell, needed rest, and wanted Huo Zhenzhou to stay with her. He probably wouldn’t refuse.
Meanwhile, Huo Xuanye arrived at the Li household.
Li Su and Chi Qingche were happily taking photos.
The groom’s party was civilized, they opened the door generously, Huo Xuanye handed out an enormous red envelope, and after finding the wedding shoes, he knelt on one knee before Li Su, pressing a kiss to her fair foot.
The room erupted in cheers.
Li Su’s ears tinged slightly red. Though this was part of the standard wedding customs, Huo Xuanye was like this even when they weren’t in a formal setting, kissing her everywhere.
When they slept together, it was as if he had a skin-hunger disorder, whining if they weren’t touching for even a moment.
Huo Xuanye slipped the high heels onto Li Su’s feet.
The atmosphere in the room heated up again.
They paid respects to their parents, then boarded the car to the hotel.
On the way, Huo Xuanye held Li Su’s hand. “I barely slept last night. What about you?”
Li Su smiled gently. “Then tonight, on our wedding night, won’t you just pass out as soon as you hit the bed?”
Huo Xuanye lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it. “No way! I’ll take a nap this afternoon.”
Tonight, he would spend a long and romantic wedding night with Li Su.
The car fell silent as they simply gazed at each other.
Li Su looked so beautiful today.
He was so lucky to be marrying her.
Huo Xuanye’s heart pounded wildly.
Li Su, looking at Huo Xuanye’s handsome face, felt a faint, peculiar emotion stir within her.
Huo Xuanye suddenly leaned in. “You’ve been staring at my face. You’re not imagining you’re marrying my brother instead of me, are you?”
The black mole on Huo Xuanye’s nose was particularly striking. Li Su lightly tapped it with her finger. “There’s a mole here. It’s Huo Xuanye.”
“So you tell us apart by this mole?”
“Do you really have to bring him up on our wedding day?” Li Su didn’t look angry, just amused by Huo Xuanye’s childishness. “Speaking of which, I don’t think I saw him today.”
Huo Xuanye replied, “Sister-in-law wasn’t feeling well, so Brother stayed home to take care of her.”
Whether Zhou Motang was genuinely unwell or not, only she knew.
They arrived at the wedding venue hotel, took outdoor photos first, and then Li Su went to change into her wedding gown.
The wedding began with a dance performance by members of Li Su’s dance studio.
Then, dressed in a pristine white wedding gown, Li Su made her entrance, escorted by her father, Li Ruifeng.
Li Ruifeng placed Li Su’s hand into Huo Xuanye’s palm. “From today onward, you are my son-in-law. You must respect and love each other, stay together for life, and not let us down.”
Huo Xuanye solemnly clasped Li Su’s hand. “Dad, don’t worry.”
Amidst the music, Huo Xuanye and Li Su walked side by side down the flower-strewn path, with two adorable children wobbling ahead, scattering petals in a heartwarming display.
On the stage, guided by the host, the two began reciting their wedding vows.
