- Chapter 18 - Rolls on the Bed in Excitement
Huo Xuanye pressed the end call button.
Li Su was still half-asleep, her mind foggy.
“Sorry for waking you.”
Huo Xuanye held his phone as he returned to Li Su’s side, pulling her into his arms.
Li Su didn’t resist, resting her head on his arm as she lazily asked, “Whose call was it?”
“My dad.”
Li Su lifted her eyelids. “Your dad called, why didn’t you answer?”
“I’ll call him back later.”
Huo Xuanye gently patted her. “Go back to sleep.”
Unfortunately for Li Su, today’s nap had come with a side of dizziness. “If he called you, it must be important. You should call him back first.”
“No need.”
Huo Xuanye glanced at the message his father had sent, just two words: Come home.
He casually tossed his phone onto the bed. “He wants us to go back. Probably because Grandma’s home.”
“We can go back later, right?”
“Yeah. Grandma’s focus is all on my brother right now.” Huo Xuanye stole a glance at her phone. “Wife, I want to ask you for a favor.”
Ask?
Huo Xuanye actually used the word ask.
“What is it?”
“There are still photos of my brother in the room, and I’m guessing you haven’t deleted the ones on your phone either. Seeing them will only make you feel worse, can you delete them?” Huo Xuanye wrapped his fingers around her fair, delicate wrist.
Her wrist was slender, like a porcelain doll that could snap with the slightest pressure.
Dancers had long legs and arms, but they were also thin, her hands were just as delicate.
Without any resistance from her, he guided her hand toward her phone.
Li Su held onto it. “They’re just photos. We live together now, it’s not about missing someone through objects, it’s about seeing them every day.”
“Not every day.”
“Right, I’m often away for performances.” Li Su unlocked her phone absentmindedly.
That wasn’t what Huo Xuanye meant, he was thinking about moving out of the Huo family estate later to live alone with Li Su.
Li Su opened her photo gallery. There were plenty of pictures of her and Huo Zhenzhou.
She stared blankly at the densely packed photos on the screen.
Huo Xuanye watched her closely. Was she still reluctant to let go of his brother?
Did she not want to delete the photos?
Was she going to cry again?
Panicked, Huo Xuanye said, “If you don’t want to delete them, then don’t! Keep them, keep them. Breakups take time to get over!”
He snatched her phone and tossed it aside with his own.
Li Su looked up at him, her eyes glistening.
Huo Xuanye’s heart stirred. Without hesitation, he cupped the back of her head and kissed her.
Some things, once started, were hard to stop.
Like kissing Li Su.
It was addictive.
Did his brother feel the same way about her?
After all, even her name was enough to stir the imagination.
Li Su.
Li Su~
The Su in emotions.
He wanted to occupy Su Su’s heart.
Starting with claiming her lips.
Li Su pushed lightly against him, but her half-hearted resistance had no effect on Huo Xuanye.
She had only taken a nap, how had Huo Xuanye already mastered flipping her over mid-kiss?
Had he been studying online while she slept? His progress was alarmingly fast.
Pinned beneath him, their heavy breaths intertwined, noses brushing, their reflections mirrored in each other’s eyes.
Huo Xuanye’s voice was rough. “Wife, did that deepen my impression in your heart a little?”
“Yes.”
Yes?
Then kissing was clearly effective.
He’d have to do it more often.
Huo Xuanye pressed further. “Can you call me husband?”
“Hm?”
“Grandma’s back, we need to rehearse in advance. You’re not still planning to call me Huo Xuanye in front of her, are you?” Huo Xuanye trailed his fingers down her cheek and buried his face in the crook of her neck.
Li Su smelled so good, so sweet,
Sweet wife.
Mwah~
Huo Xuanye was utterly intoxicated by Li Su’s soft warmth and fragrance. He didn’t want to go home; wherever his wife was, that’s where he wanted to be.
He wanted to be an accessory hanging off his wife.
Ever since his epiphany on the balcony about his long-standing feelings for Li Su, Huo Xuanye only wanted to stay by her side.
The heat of his breath against her neck sent tingles across Li Su’s skin. Huo Xuanye pressed down on her, his body heavy and sticky, clinging to her. Though he didn’t say it outright, Li Su suspected that unless she called him “husband,” he wouldn’t get off her.
She’d have to say it sooner or later. Li Su took a deep breath. “Hus… husband.”
Huo Xuanye lifted his head excitedly, cupping her face. “Mm, I’m here.”
Li Su’s soft, delicate voice was like music to his ears, sending his adrenaline soaring.
Not good!
Not good, not good!!!
Li Su stared at him in shock. “You…”
All she’d done was call him “husband” once, and Huo Xuanye was already…
“I need to calm down.”
Huo Xuanye obediently rolled off her and lay beside her, replaying the sound of Li Su calling him “husband” in his mind.
The more he thought about it, the more excited he got.
“Wife~”
When Huo Xuanye opened his eyes again, Li Su was already out of bed.
She slept in pajamas but changed into fresh clothes after waking. A young lady of her stature didn’t mind the extra effort.
Though Li Su wasn’t beside him, he was still lying in her bed, the sheets and blankets infused with her light, pear-blossom fragrance.
Huo Xuanye lay there, utterly blissful.
Li Su emerged from changing her clothes to find Huo Xuanye rolling around on the bed.
She narrowed her eyes. What was he doing?
Rolling around alone?
Seemed to be enjoying himself.
“Shall we go home?” she asked softly.
Huo Xuanye froze, clutching the blanket, his ears burning red. He glanced up at her guiltily.
Li Su smiled faintly.
There was no trace of disgust or disdain in her eyes.
Huo Xuanye exhaled in relief.
“You still don’t seem calm,” she said gently. “Should I wait for you downstairs?”
“I’m calm, I’m calm.”
An hour later, the two arrived at the Huo residence.
From a distance, they could hear Old Madam Huo’s laughter.
Huo Zhenzhou’s safe return was better than any medicine, the old lady looked radiant, not having lost any weight despite her hundred-day prayer retreat in the mountain temple.
Huo Xuanye led Li Su inside by the hand. “Grandma, you’re back.”
Old Madam Huo had been happily chatting with Huo Zhenzhou, but now her gaze fell on their intertwined hands.
When the old man had called to say Huo Xuanye and Li Su had eloped, she’d thought he was joking.
Turns out it was true.
Her former eldest grandson’s wife was now her youngest grandson’s wife.
And now her eldest grandson had lost his memory and married some orphan girl who’d appeared out of nowhere.
What a mess!
Still, Huo Zhenzhou’s safe return was all that truly mattered.
But now she had a question.
Old Madam Huo spoke up. “Bowen told me the master divined the auspicious dates for your wedding, the 8th and 9th.”
“Those two days are perfect. The first day for the pre-wedding party, the second for the ceremony,” Huo Xuanye had already planned it all out.
The elderly Madam Huo said, “As for how you young people want to hold your wedding, that’s your decision to make. Your eldest brother has just returned, and his memories haven’t fully recovered yet. He’s the firstborn and already has a wife, but they haven’t had their wedding ceremony. Grandma’s suggestion is to let your elder brother and sister-in-law have their wedding first, then you can have yours afterward. How does that sound?”
