Always Chasing My White Moonlight Omega - Chapter 68.2
She suddenly looked out the window, as if lost in thought. After a long pause, she finally turned back, reached out, and gently plucked the camellia flower from behind Xu Zhiyi’s ear.
“I’ve forgotten,” she said, not mentioning that it was the afternoon she first moved into the Xu family. Instead, she lifted the camellia to her lips. “I don’t really remember when it started. I only know that by the time I realized it, it seemed like my eyes could only see roses.”
As she spoke, her gaze softened as it fell upon the petals.
Xu Zhiyi’s heart stirred, her breath quickening slightly. She asked, word by word, “No other flower can compare, is that it?”
“Yes,” Ruan Yang looked at Xu Zhiyi, her eyes carrying a tenderness even deeper than when she had gazed at the camellia. “No other flower can compare.”
At these words, Xu Zhiyi smiled.
Her red lips curved as she gently moved Ruan Yang’s hand holding the camellia aside and pressed another kiss to the corner of Ruan Yang’s mouth.
Unlike the calm, gentle kiss from before, this one carried a hint of possessiveness. Xu Zhiyi kissed with more urgency, as if wanting to leave her mark on this person.
Ruan Yang responded in kind, lowering her head slightly as her entire body surged with heat.
The innate Alpha instinct within her blood urged her to pin Xu Zhiyi down and dominate every change in her body and spirit.
But this was Xu Zhiyi. The longing Ruan Yang had carried for so long, now finally within reach, paradoxically calmed her. She merely parted her lips slightly, inviting Xu Zhiyi to deepen the kiss.
She had built a prison for herself, allowing only Xu Zhiyi to step inside while forbidding herself from stepping out.
The snow outside was falling heavier and heavier.
In the boundless expanse of white, ice and snow descended to the ground.
Love and roses were locked in a passionate kiss.
That evening, the assistant director called Ruan Yang, saying there was an urgent matter that required her personal presence.
Ruan Yang told Xu Zhiyi about it, and after thinking for a moment, Xu Zhiyi said she wanted to go with her.
Staying alone in the hotel was simply too boring; going to the set would at least allow her to watch the other actors film and pass the time.
Ruan Yang thought that made sense, so she brought Xu Zhiyi along to the set. Once they arrived, she first escorted Xu Zhiyi to her own dressing room. “Wait here for a while, and once I’m done, I’ll come back to take you home.”
Xu Zhiyi turned on the air conditioner in the dressing room and nodded. “Alright, go ahead and take care of your business.”
Although it wasn’t cold inside, Ruan Yang still turned the temperature up two degrees before turning to leave.
But as soon as she lifted her foot, a hand reached out from behind and grabbed her wrist.
Ruan Yang froze in her tracks. She turned around to see Xu Zhiyi sitting in her chair, looking up at her with pleading eyes.
She blinked a couple of times, her expression clearly tinged with grievance.
“When will you come back for me?” she asked reluctantly.
It was strange. Even though she had spent plenty of time alone in her dressing room before, Xu Zhiyi felt particularly unwilling to be alone there today.
Or perhaps it was simply that she couldn’t bear to part with Ruan Yang.
Ruan Yang gently stroked Xu Zhiyi’s hair, speaking to her as if soothing a child. “Be good, Zhiyi. I’ll be back soon.”
How soon is soon?
The moment this thought crossed her mind, Xu Zhiyi realized she might be acting a bit clingy.
She pouted and said, somewhat unwillingly, “Fine, go ahead.”
Then, she quickly added, “But make sure you come back for me as soon as possible.”
“Mm,” Ruan Yang replied, a smile in her eyes. She leaned down and kissed Xu Zhiyi’s forehead before turning to leave again.
This time, Xu Zhiyi didn’t stop her. But as Ruan Yang turned, her eyes met those of someone who had just entered the doorway.
Shi Fangxuan, recalling what she had just witnessed, felt her eyes nearly pop out of her head.
Her mouth hung open in shock, she never expected to stumble upon such a scene.
Yet Ruan Yang, on the other hand, acted as if nothing had happened. She walked past calmly, nodding at Shi Fangxuan as she passed, before opening the door and stepping out.
It made Shi Fangxuan’s reaction seem overly dramatic.
Was she really overreacting? Shi Fangxuan wondered.
But weren’t Ruan Yang and Xu Zhiyi sisters?
Even if not by blood.
Her mind was filled with questions, but fortunately, Shi Fangxuan remembered why she had come today.
It had taken her several days to muster the courage to seek out Xu Zhiyi, and now was not the time to dwell on this.
Xu Zhiyi, not far away, was watching her. Shi Fangxuan walked over and sat down opposite her.
Xu Zhiyi, lost in thoughts of when Ruan Yang would return, remained silent.
Seeing her like this, Shi Fangxuan assumed she was still upset about her previous involvement with Xu Zhiyi’s father and sighed.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “I didn’t know Xu Rongjiang was your father before. If I had known, I wouldn’t have had any interaction with him at all.”
To be fair, Shi Fangxuan genuinely liked Xu Zhiyi. The two of them got along very well, and over the years, few people in the entertainment industry had managed to earn her affection so effortlessly.
It was precisely because she truly wanted to remain friends with Xu Zhiyi and because they still had a long period of filming ahead together that Shi Fangxuan had taken the initiative to apologize.
But if Xu Zhiyi couldn’t move past that incident and was unwilling to interact with her outside of work, Shi Fangxuan would have no choice but to respect her decision.
She sat across from Xu Zhiyi, patiently waiting for several minutes. Yet Xu Zhiyi remained lost in thought, staring at the door with no intention of speaking to her.
Shi Fangxuan sighed and stood up, ready to leave.
Just as she was about to rise, having already given up hope, Xu Zhiyi suddenly spoke.
As if snapping back to reality, she called out to Shi Fangxuan.
“Fangxuan Jie.”
Shi Fangxuan’s hand, resting on the arm of the chair, froze mid-motion. Her body stiffened, but she didn’t look at Xu Zhiyi, silently waiting for what she would say next.
“I asked my assistant to buy two servings of sweet soup,” Xu Zhiyi said, her gaze lingering on Shi Fangxuan’s face, which bore a faint resemblance to Ruan Yang’s. Her tone softened gradually. “I can’t finish it alone. Stay and share it with me.”
Shi Fangxuan’s eyes suddenly lit up. She shifted her movement to stand up and sat back down instead. Looking at Xu Zhiyi, the joy in her eyes was unmistakable as she nodded. “Okay!”
She agreed happily, knowing that Xu Zhiyi’s invitation to share the sweet soup meant there was still a chance for them to continue their friendship.
After sitting in silence for a while longer, Shi Fangxuan asked, “Are you still angry with me?”
Xu Zhiyi turned to look at her and shook her head. “There’s nothing for me to be angry about. This matter never really concerned you in the first place.”
It was her father who had been relentlessly pursuing Shi Fangxuan. If anything, she should be the one apologizing, how could she possibly hold a grudge against Shi Fangxuan?
“Besides, you helped Ruan Yang,” Xu Zhiyi added. “What you did for her meant a great deal to her.”
To both of them, in fact.
“We should be thanking you, not blaming you,” she said with a light laugh. “Don’t worry, Fangxuan Jie, I’m not that petty. But what about my father? Has he stopped bothering you?”
“That’s good.” Shi Fangxuan visibly relaxed, as if a weight had been lifted. For some reason, she felt that Xu Zhiyi seemed particularly gentle today. “I’m glad I could help you both.”
Thinking of Xu Rongjiang again, she shook her head. “As for your father. I’ve made things clear to him. Perhaps, given some time, he’ll come to accept it.”
Shi Fangxuan understood better than anyone that Xu Rongjiang’s obsession with her stemmed from the fact that she had been the one to leave him all those years ago, he simply couldn’t let it go.
How much of it was love and how much was pride? Perhaps only Xu Rongjiang himself knew.
The image of the kiss she had accidentally witnessed earlier resurfaced in her mind. Shi Fangxuan held back for a moment but couldn’t resist her curiosity any longer. She couldn’t help but ask.
“Let’s not talk about your father. Tell me, what’s really going on between you and the director?”
