Always Chasing My White Moonlight Omega - Chapter 38.2
Lu Yiye frowned as she watched Ruan Yang’s retreating figure.
She had been noticing it for a while.
Yangyang usually had no interest in flowers and plants.
So where did that potted plant she had been guarding like a treasure lately come from?
Over the next few days, the sun was bright, and the plant thrived, growing noticeably taller.
One day during class, Fang Yao suddenly let out a soft exclamation halfway through the lesson.
Ruan Yang was sitting next to Fang Yao. While taking notes, she overheard Fang Yao muttering in disbelief, “Holy crap, Xu Zhiyi is actually livestreaming this early in the morning?!”
The hand holding the pen suddenly stiffened. Ruan Yang paused her writing and glanced sideways at Fang Yao’s phone.
Sure enough, she immediately spotted Xu Zhiyi’s face on the screen.
Perhaps due to being too busy and tired, Xu Zhiyi’s eyes lacked their usual clarity, but under the scrutiny of the camera, her complexion remained flawless.
Ruan Yang had checked Xu Zhiyi’s schedule for the past few days this livestream wasn’t listed. It must have been added last minute.
Xu Zhiyi wasn’t alone in the livestream; there was also a woman in a suit, who appeared somewhat older.
Curious, Ruan Yang asked Fang Yao, “What is this livestream about?”
“It’s the official Omega Equality Day livestream. This year’s ambassador is the same as last year still my Xu Zhiyi,” Fang Yao replied casually. But when he looked up and realized it was Ruan Yang asking the question, his eyes widened in shock.
“Ruan, Ruan Yang?” His tone was even more astonished than when he’d discovered Xu Zhiyi’s livestream. “What’s going on? You’re actually paying attention to Xu Zhiyi now?”
Lu Yiye, sitting on Ruan Yang’s other side, seemed annoyed by the noise. She clicked her tongue softly and glared at Fang Yao over Ruan Yang’s shoulder. “So noisy. Can you shut up and just watch your livestream quietly?”
“Fine, fine, I’ll be quiet,” Fang Yao grumbled impatiently, then switched to a cheerful expression as he generously sent a bunch of gifts to Xu Zhiyi’s livestream.
As the surroundings grew quieter, Lu Yiye was about to refocus on the lecture and her notes when she suddenly noticed that Ruan Yang beside her had stopped writing.
Ruan Yang stared at her notebook for a long moment, then abruptly set down her pen and pulled out her phone from her pocket, placing it on the desk.
This was the first time Lu Yiye had ever seen Ruan Yang take out her phone during class when the teacher hadn’t instructed them to use electronic devices.
Just as Lu Yiye was about to ask if Ruan Yang needed to take a picture of the notes, she saw Ruan Yang open the same livestreaming app as Fang Yao.
Witnessing this, Lu Yiye put down her pen, suddenly feeling that she couldn’t continue taking notes either.
The screen was filled with gift-sending effects. The user “Little Fang Only Loves Zhiyi” spammed gifts while professing their love: 【Zhiyi sister is so beautiful, I love you!!!】
It was still early morning on a weekday, and the livestream was very sudden, so the number of viewers wasn’t high yet.
The atmosphere was still a bit cold at the start of the stream. On screen, Xu Zhiyi glanced at the comments, seemingly planning to warm up the room by interacting with the audience.
As she leaned closer to the camera, her delicate features became even more distinct. The strands of hair across her forehead couldn’t obscure the intensity in Xu Zhiyi’s eyes.
When she lowered her gaze, the gentle, bright morning light seemed to converge entirely in that one glance.
Xu Zhiyi said softly, “So many gifts thank you, Xiao Fang, but please be mindful with your spending.”
Ruan Yang, wearing headphones, felt as though Xu Zhiyi’s voice was whispering right beside her ear.
She couldn’t help but freeze for a moment.
It felt like it had been a long time since she last heard Xu Zhiyi’s voice.
Beside her, Fang Yao, upon hearing Xu Zhiyi’s words, let out a few dramatic sobs before doubling down on her enthusiastic gifting.
Ruan Yang was pulled from her thoughts and, with a hint of disdain, pursed her lips and turned off the special effects.
Xu Zhiyi’s face became much clearer on the screen.
She was smiling faintly as she chatted with the host. The city she was in boasted a vast rose garden, and the entire city was famous for it.
The host pointed to the expansive garden behind her and addressed the camera, “We are currently at the renowned Qianfang Rose Garden, which is also the venue for this year’s Equality Day event.”
Then she turned to Xu Zhiyi. “As far as I know, your pheromone happens to be the scent of roses, right?”
This wasn’t a secret, and Xu Zhiyi nodded with a smile.
“Then let’s do a little activity today,” the host glanced at the script. “We’ll invite Zhiyi to enter the rose garden first and pick out the rose she finds most beautiful. Let’s see what she brings back, shall we?”
“Of course,” Xu Zhiyi replied, reading comments and interacting with viewers while tying up her loose hair.
Once the atmosphere warmed up, she walked into the rose garden under the camera’s gaze.
As soon as Xu Zhiyi stepped into the garden, the screen switched to the host’s main camera angle.
The host seemed equally excited. “Let’s see what color and type of rose Zhiyi will choose.”
Finding the perfect rose would take some time, so the host spent the next few minutes explaining the origins and significance of Equality Day to the live audience.
By the time she finished, Xu Zhiyi still hadn’t returned. Just as the host was about to repeat the explanation, the main camera suddenly shifted, capturing Xu Zhiyi as she emerged from the garden entrance.
“It looks like Zhiyi is back,” the host’s voice came from off-screen. “Let’s take a look at the rose she picked.”
The camera zoomed in, focusing on Xu Zhiyi’s hands, but after scanning up and down, it became clear she was empty-handed.
She had returned with nothing.
By the time Xu Zhiyi reached the host, the camera had returned to its normal distance and angle.
The host was puzzled. “I don’t see a rose in your hands. Did you not find any you liked in the garden?”
“Of course not,” Xu Zhiyi replied with a laugh. “I searched the entire garden and was surprised to find that the most beautiful rose in the world wasn’t there.”
“Then where is it?” The host was taken aback this wasn’t going according to the script.
Xu Zhiyi’s eyes curved into crescents as she suddenly leaned forward, raising her right hand to cover her mouth, and whispered to the camera as if confiding in a lover.
“It’s right here.”
With her movement, the ponytail she had tied up earlier came loose. A gust of wind blew, and the small black hair tie holding her hair suddenly snapped.
Her thick, silky hair cascaded down unexpectedly. Sunlight filtered through the gaps between the strands, and a few rose petals, which had somehow clung to her hair, revealed their delicate pink veins under the sunlight before slowly drifting down.
In this moment, Xu Zhiyi was breathtakingly beautiful enough to make anyone’s heart flutter.
The live stream was instantly flooded with a kaleidoscope of comments.
“Ahhh!”
It seemed many people in the classroom were secretly watching Xu Zhiyi’s live stream. As this scene unfolded, suppressed screams erupted from all corners of the large lecture hall.
The teacher, startled by the sudden and synchronized outburst, hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to continue the lesson.
Near the back door of the classroom, Ruan Yang’s breath involuntarily hitched for a second.
The host was also captivated by Xu Zhiyi’s appearance, but she quickly regained her composure. Picking up on Xu Zhiyi’s words, she remarked that everyone is the most beautiful rose in their own life.
“Yes,” Xu Zhiyi stood quietly nearby, listening intently. She didn’t tie her hair back again but instead looked directly into the camera and said solemnly, “The essence of Omega equality is to ensure that every rose can equally enjoy the same rain and sunlight.”
The live stream’s viewership surged to its peak. Xu Zhiyi’s fans, having heard the news, rushed to the stream and began frantically copying and pasting this sentence.
Not only Xu Zhiyi’s fans but all the Omegas watching the live stream silently joined in, following the pattern.
Behind the scenes, the director, seeing this, gave the host a relieved thumbs-up.
The host also breathed a sigh of relief. She elaborated on Xu Zhiyi’s words, summarizing the core message of the live stream, which was now coming to an end.
However, since the scheduled duration hadn’t yet been reached, the host glanced at the director’s signal and decided to continue chatting with Xu Zhiyi for a bit longer.
“I noticed you seem to like flowers quite a bit. Do you usually have a habit of growing them?”
“Yes,” a glimmer flashed in Xu Zhiyi’s eyes. “I really enjoy growing flowers, but since I’m often on the move, I don’t have much time to tend to them myself. So, I have to ask someone else to take care of them for me.”
As she said this, Xu Zhiyi looked into the camera as if gazing at someone through the lens. She sighed softly and added, “I just hope the person I entrusted them to is taking good care of them.”
It was only then that Ruan Yang remembered she hadn’t sent a picture of the potted plant to Xu Zhiyi today.
She blinked, intending to exit the live stream and send Xu Zhiyi a message. But as she looked at Xu Zhiyi’s face on her phone screen, she suddenly changed her mind. With a light tap of her finger, she sent a comment.
[User24567068: I’ve been taking good care of it every day.]
However, as soon as she sent it, Ruan Yang watched her comment get lost in the sea of countless others.
After sending it, she felt a bit foolish for doing so.
With so many comments, how could Xu Zhiyi possibly see hers?
But just as Ruan Yang was about to exit the live stream.
“I’m glad it’s being taken care of properly.” Xu Zhiyi’s voice suddenly rang out. She smiled, her tone half-serious, half-playful, “I’ll have to check for myself when I get back.”
Ruan Yang happened to look up at that moment, and her eyes met Xu Zhiyi’s through the screen.
For a moment, Ruan Yang felt as if she and Xu Zhiyi had locked eyes across the distance.
Was it a coincidence, or had they truly seen each other?
After just a second of hesitation, Ruan Yang continued typing.
【User24567068: The roses are about to bloom.】
The host looked puzzledly at Xu Zhiyi, who was intently staring at the bullet comments, unable to understand why she was smiling so brightly.
She asked, “Did Zhiyi see something interesting in the comments? Why not share it with us?”
The rapid scrolling of the comments was straining to the eyes, how had Xu Zhiyi managed to read them clearly?
“It’s not exactly an interesting comment.”
Xu Zhiyi tilted her head slightly, her voice tinged with a hint of mischief. “I have a personal bias. Everyone is the most beautiful rose in their own life, but to me, the most beautiful one is the rose I’ve grown myself.”
Her tone was full of anticipation.
“When I get back, I’ll be able to see the most beautiful, most beautiful rose in my world.”
