After Transmigrating Into The Book, The Villain Only Wanted To Destroy The World - Chapter 10
“Master,” Mo Rubai said, looking up at Yuan Jiangning with a furrowed brow. He had never understood the truth about his master, nor did he know why he had chosen to take him as a disciple in the first place.
The Lingxiao Sect had many disciples, and becoming an inner sect disciple was not a simple matter. It required immense effort, though Mo Rubai was an exception because he had been personally selected by Yuan Jiangning. Every elder in the Lingxiao Sect had the authority to personally appoint a disciple, but none ever did so. The reason was simple: it placed the chosen disciple in the spotlight, making them a target. Since those who had the strength to become inner sect disciples could earn their place through competition, why accept a special appointment? Besides, the monthly rations for inner sect disciples were dozens of times higher than those of ordinary disciples. Consequently, to prove he was worthy of the title, Mo Rubai had signed up for the perilous Trial Assembly.
“Are you all right?” Yuan Jiangning sighed and gently patted Mo Rubai on the shoulder. Instantly, a gentle stream of spiritual energy was injected into Mo Rubai’s consciousness.
Mo Rubai could not help but let out a soft sigh of relief before whispering, “Thank you, Master.”
Yuan Jiangning cleared his meridians, and Mo Rubai immediately felt his body become much lighter.
“Rubai, Zhiwei is your Junior Uncle. He would not harm you,” Yuan Jiangning said, looking around before continuing. “Treat these few days as a period of cultivation. This place has the richest spiritual energy in the entire Lingxiao Sect.”
“Master,” Mo Rubai asked, looking up, “do you truly trust Junior Uncle?”
“Rubai,” Yuan Jiangning’s voice suddenly turned cold, “he is your Junior Uncle. You must not discuss him behind his back.”
Yuan Jiangning seemed about to say more, but upon meeting Mo Rubai’s surprised eyes, he stopped. He turned and swept away without another word.
This visit from his master felt as if he had come specifically to make excuses for Immortal Lingzhi. What exactly were they plotting? Why go to such lengths just to force him to kneel here? Mo Rubai found the whole situation absurd.
Meanwhile, ten meters beneath where Mo Rubai knelt, a gate made of white jade was slowly pushed open. Inside, a white jade staircase wound downward. Shen Zhiwei walked down step by step; at the end of the path was the person he had been longing to see, his beloved younger brother, Shen Ming.
The original host had hidden Shen Ming in a place like this. It did not suggest he had treated his brother well. After all, there were countless ways to protect someone, and the Lingxiao Sect was vast; there was no need to keep him trapped underground. Shen Zhiwei did not dwell on it, however. The original host was a villain, and he had no desire to empathize with his thought process. The only thing they shared was a sense of self-interest.
“You have only arrived now? Are you trying to drive me mad?”
Before Shen Zhiwei even reached the end, he heard a shrill voice.
“Stop shouting.” Shen Zhiwei pushed open the small wooden door in front of him and froze when he saw the scene before him.
Was this Shen Ming? His hair was long and white, draped over his shoulders; his pupils were a blood-red color, and his skin was a deathly, unnatural pale. He appeared to be on the verge of suffering from demonic obsession. His hands and feet were bound by four long, thick chains, and every time Shen Ming struggled, a faint red light flickered along the links.
“Brother, I cannot take it anymore,” Shen Ming looked up at Shen Zhiwei and licked his lips with a desperate look. “I am so thirsty, so thirsty.”
“Endure it.” Shen Zhiwei looked at the face that was nearly identical to his own in his previous life and felt a surge of surprise. His appearance in his past life had been somewhat similar to the original host, but Shen Ming looked eighty or ninety percent like him.
Shen Zhiwei suppressed the strange thoughts in his heart and drew a circle on the ground, creating a blood-colored seal that enclosed both him and Shen Ming.
On the surface, Mo Rubai suddenly felt a wave of heart palpitations, as if something was being drawn out of his very body.
