Chen Yanzhi soon started school, fitting perfectly with the new semester. Originally, Fu Tingyue wanted to send him personally, but an urgent business trip came up at the office, leaving him unable to pull away. He had no choice but to have Secretary Jiang stand in and take Chen Yanzhi for registration.

Since he was a commuter student, Chen Yanzhi did not have much to bring, just a backpack with his identification documents.

On the way to school, Chen Yanzhi replied to Fu Tingyue’s messages while asking the person in the passenger seat, “Secretary Jiang, did you also graduate from Mingyuan University?”

He had forgotten to ask Fu Tingyue where he attended university.

Secretary Jiang briefly shifted his gaze from the tablet in his hand and glanced at Chen Yanzhi through the rearview mirror. “No, I graduated from Yunfan University. So did President Fu.”

Yunfan University was the top public institution in the country; as long as one’s scores were high enough, even ordinary people could attend. Mingyuan University, on the other hand, was a private university where the students were either wealthy or noble; it was essentially a school for the aristocracy.

Chen Yanzhi nodded and searched for Yunfan University on his phone. A Double First-Class top-tier university; quite impressive.

The school’s notable alumni introduction featured Fu Tingyue. Chen Yanzhi flipped through it for a while, only then realizing how outstanding the original owner of that body was.

However, Fu Tingyue was not bad either. Back when they attended the same high school, Fu Tingyue consistently held the top spot in the grade rankings. Chen Yanzhi was always trailing by a point or two; during the days after the results came out, he usually would not speak to Fu Tingyue. Occasionally, Fu Tingyue would intentionally lose two points to coax him, which only made Chen Yanzhi angrier when he found out.

Thinking back now, it was truly childish, but also very worth reminiscing. He wondered how his friends and family back in their old world were doing.

Chen Yanzhi put down his phone and stared at the scenery receding quickly outside the window, feeling a bit down. However, his moods came and went quickly; by the time they reached the school gate, his sadness had vanished.

There were many people reporting on the first day, but since Chen Yanzhi was coming in through a back door, Secretary Jiang took him directly to the Principal’s office to wait for his enrollment arrangements.

Chen Yanzhi had met the Principal when he came with Fu Tingyue before, so he felt no awkwardness. The Principal, however, was overly respectful, which made Chen Yanzhi feel uneasy.

The Principal poured a cup of coffee for Chen Yanzhi with a sycophantic smile. “Young Master Chen, please rest here for a moment. The enrollment procedures will be finished shortly. There are no classes today, so if you don’t wish to stay at school, you can go straight home. Your class information will be sent directly to your phone later.”

He was merely hired by the Fu family to manage the school. Chen Yanzhi’s relationship with Fu Tingyue was clearly significant; as long as he kept Chen Yanzhi happy, his position as Principal would be secure.

Having grown up in a top-tier wealthy family himself, Chen Yanzhi understood these intricacies perfectly but could not be bothered to care. He smiled, took a sip of the coffee, and looked up at Secretary Jiang. “Let’s go take a look at the classroom. Going home is boring anyway.”

Fu Tingyue was on a business trip and would not be back for two days. Chen Yanzhi did not want to go home to an empty house.

Secretary Jiang replied respectfully, “Everything is as you wish, Young Master Chen.”

Chen Yanzhi rested his hands behind his head and said to the Principal with a grin, “Principal, please go tend to your own business. No need to worry about us.”

The Principal wanted to say that this was his office, but in the end, the words did not come out. He smiled and exited to go squeeze into the Vice Principal’s office instead.

After a short wait, a teacher knocked on the door to say the procedures were complete. Secretary Jiang took the school ID, checked the class information, and skillfully led Chen Yanzhi toward the teaching building.

Chen Yanzhi could not help but be curious. “Secretary Jiang, have you brought others for enrollment before?”

“No, I came ahead of time to familiarize myself with the environment,” Jiang Tang emphasized. “President Fu instructed it.”

Chen Yanzhi breathed a silent sigh of relief. “Okay. I thought Fu Tingyue had you send someone else here before.”

He was referring to the original Fu Tingyue. If Fu Tingyue’s memories were messy and a White Moonlight or something suddenly appeared, he needed to find out ahead of time so he would not be caught off guard.

Jiang Tang suddenly stopped and looked at Chen Yanzhi with a serious expression. “Young Master Chen, President Fu has had no one else by his side all these years.”

Chen Yanzhi froze, realizing Jiang Tang’s implication. He quickly explained, “You misunderstood me. I was just curious.”

Hearing this, Jiang Tang did not drop his concern but became even more earnest. “President Fu has been very lonely all these years. He’s cold to everyone except for you. When President Fu is with you, he is a completely different person.”

Chen Yanzhi was stunned by the speech. Finally, he patted Jiang Tang’s shoulder. “Haha, Secretary Jiang, don’t be so serious. I did not overthink it, really. Just curious.”

Of course he’s a different person; the soul has been swapped.

Once Jiang Tang confirmed Chen Yanzhi was not truly angry, he breathed a private sigh of relief. “I was afraid you’d misunderstand. The only person President Fu could like is you; there can be no one else.”

“Like me?” Chen Yanzhi pointed to himself and suddenly burst into laughter. “Secretary Jiang, that joke isn’t funny at all. How could Fu Tingyue like me? We’re best bros, not that kind of relationship.”

“Best bros,” Jiang Tang pondered the phrase and eventually reached a conclusion: Fu Tingyue was suffering from unrequited love.

No wonder he felt things were strange between them; this was the problem. Chen Yanzhi had not noticed Fu Tingyue’s feelings, and all his physical intimacy was just treated as being between good friends, but Fu Tingyue did not think that way at all.

Chen Yanzhi continued walking ahead, skipping with his hands behind his back. “We really are just good friends. Secretary Jiang, don’t get the wrong idea.”

Jiang Tang did not argue. “Alright, it was my mistake.” Since Fu Tingyue had not confessed, he must have his own plans; it was not the secretary’s place to meddle.

Chen Yanzhi did not take the matter to heart. After touring the building, they had to go to the academic affairs office to confirm personal information. Getting tired of walking, Chen Yanzhi found a pavilion to sit in while he waited for Jiang Tang.

He called Fu Tingyue, who gave him a few reminders to take care of himself before hanging up to get back to work. Chen Yanzhi rested his face in his hands on the stone table, listlessly observing the crowds passing by.

In this school, Alphas and Omegas were taught separately, while Betas mixed with both. Betas were free to attend classes in either area; Chen Yanzhi liked that freedom.

Lin Xubai was also at this school, but he was a sophomore and had started a week early. Classes were not over yet, but Chen Yanzhi had arranged to meet him for lunch.

Fu Baiyu, having suffered a silent loss at Fu Tingyue’s house and unable to find an outlet for his anger, had planned to find some fun at school. He did not expect to see a familiar figure at the corner of a pavilion.

The Alpha beside him asked sycophantically, “Young Master Fu, why did you stop? The Omega I mentioned isn’t in this area; we have to walk further.”

Fu Baiyu ignored him, stepping forward tentatively until the person on the stone table looked up, revealing that exquisitely beautiful face. He muttered a few curses and strode over. His lackeys, sensing his aggression, followed closely to show off.

Chen Yanzhi was bored when a shadow suddenly loomed over him. Thinking it was Lin Xubai or Jiang Tang, he looked up happily, only for the smile to freeze on his face.

Fu Baiyu let out a cold laugh, looking down at him arrogantly. “It really is you.”

The Alphas around him caught sight of Chen Yanzhi’s face and sucked in a breath. Top tier. Absolutely top tier. A pity he was a Beta, otherwise he’d be perfect.

“Oh, I haven’t seen you in a few days and you’ve already found yourself some companions?” Chen Yanzhi crossed his arms and scanned the students beside Fu Baiyu, tsking. “But they look quite weak. Can they even satisfy you?”

The Alphas were confused, but Fu Baiyu’s chest heaved with rage. He ordered coldly, “Take him to my dorm.” He sneered at Chen Yanzhi, “I want to see if you can still laugh in a moment.”

“What, are you going to let me watch them do you?” Chen Yanzhi was not afraid; instead, he provoked him. “Sorry, I’m not interested in such filthy things. I’m afraid I’d get a stye just looking. You go ahead and serve them well.”

The Alphas finally understood the implication and surrounded Chen Yanzhi. “How dare you be so insolent to Young Master Fu. Today, we’ll make sure you’re crying for mercy.”

Fu Baiyu remembered being chased by Chen Yanzhi with a stool, and his anger flared. “Today I’ll show you the consequences of offending me. But if you can be a bit more obedient, I might still give you a chance to stay by my side.”

Fu Tingyue was away; even if he did something to Chen Yanzhi, distant water could not put out a nearby fire. By the time Fu Tingyue returned, the deed would be done. With his parents pressuring him, Fu Tingyue would not dare do anything serious to him.

Despite the humiliation that day, Chen Yanzhi’s face would not leave his mind. Since childhood, anything he wanted was easily obtained. Chen Yanzhi would be no exception.

“I said, with that weak appearance of yours, you’re better off lying down and letting others have their way.”

Chen Yanzhi cracked his neck, preparing to show off his moves. To his surprise, Jiang Tang returned at that exact moment. Several bodyguards in black suits appeared out of nowhere, tossing the surrounding Alphas aside like they were picking up chicks.

Fu Baiyu roared, “Jiang Tang, you dare stop me!”

Jiang Tang shielded Chen Yanzhi behind him, his face cold. “Second Young Master, if President Fu knew of your actions today, not even the Old Master could protect you.”

Jiang Tang had seen clearly how much Fu Tingyue cared for Chen Yanzhi. If Fu Tingyue found out, no one could save this spoiled brat.

“Does Fu Tingyue dare?” Fu Baiyu sneered. “Since we were kids, what hasn’t he yielded to me? He’s just a Beta from the East District. Even if I played him to death, what could Fu Tingyue do? He’s a coward,”

Before the word was finished, Chen Yanzhi lunged out and kicked him squarely in the stomach.

Fu Baiyu was caught off guard and fell to the ground. Chen Yanzhi did not give him a chance to react; he straddled him and delivered several solid punches, turning Fu Baiyu’s pale face black and blue.

If Jiang Tang had not pulled Chen Yanzhi away, he would have beaten Fu Baiyu into a pulp. Chen Yanzhi’s chest heaved, his eyes cold and devoid of warmth as he looked at the man.

Daring to call Fu Tingyue a coward? This piece of shit Alpha really is asking for it.
