After Transmigrating into a Scummy Alpha, I Became a Tool Person - Chapter 16
After watching the fireworks, it was already nine in the evening when Xie Yinian and Xia Qiqi hailed a taxi back to the villa.
When they arrived, Xie Yinian paid the fare and got out together with Xia Qiqi.
As they strolled along the quiet path outside the villa, Xie Yinian said cheerfully, “Today was so much fun. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this happy.”
She lowered her head, fiddling with the cartoon plush she had bought at Disneyland, and smiled. “Thank you for coming with me today.”
Xia Qiqi looked up at the soft bunny headband sitting atop Xie Yinian’s head—Lina Bell’s long ears bobbed slightly as she walked, making her look adorably lively.
“No need to thank me,” Xia Qiqi replied softly. She entered the passcode on the villa’s smart lock, and the door chimed twice before opening.
Xie Yinian headed to the bathroom to shower first. When she came out, she told Xia Qiqi in the living room good night, then returned to her room to sleep.
After finishing a few work replies on her phone, Xia Qiqi slipped on her slippers and went to shower as well.
When she came out, towel in hand and ready to dry her hair, a sudden wave of heat surged through her body. Her limbs weakened as her pheromones burst uncontrollably from the gland at the back of her neck. Her cheeks flushed crimson, and her knees gave out—she collapsed against the floor.
The room quickly filled with the dense, intoxicating scent of her pheromones—far stronger than the last time she had gone into heat after catching a whiff of Xie Yinian’s scent.
The skin behind her neck throbbed and burned. She had sensed her next heat cycle approaching in the coming days, but she hadn’t expected it to hit so suddenly, so violently.
Curling her legs close, Xia Qiqi huddled beside the bed, trying to endure the fever that coursed through her.
Her vision blurred as she forced herself upright with trembling hands, staggering to the drawer to retrieve a syringe filled with inhibitor. She pressed the needle into her arm and injected it.
“Mm.” A muffled groan escaped her throat.
When the last drop entered her bloodstream, the syringe slipped from her fingers and rolled into the corner.
Weak and trembling, Xia Qiqi leaned against the side of the bed and slowly closed her eyes.
The Next Morning,
After her morning jog, Xie Yinian came back to find untouched breakfast still on the dining table. Strange—Xia Qiqi hadn’t eaten yet?
It was nearly ten o’clock. Going without food for so long wasn’t good for her stomach.
Frowning, Xie Yinian went upstairs to call her.
“Knock, knock—” She tapped on the door.
No response.
She knocked again, but there was still silence. Was Xia Qiqi not in the room?
Just then, Aunt Jiang walked by, and Xie Yinian asked, “Aunt Jiang, have you seen Xia Qiqi?”
“She went out early this morning,” the older woman replied.
“Do you know where she went?”
Aunt Jiang shook her head. “No idea. But she didn’t look too well when she left.”
Xie Yinian frowned in concern. “Not well? What do you mean?”
“I’m not sure—maybe she had something urgent to take care of.”
At the Hospital,
The doctor frowned at the test results in his hand. “Your condition is quite serious. Long-term use of inhibitors has already caused over sixty percent damage to your system. If it reaches a hundred, your life could be in danger.”
He had never seen someone so determined to rely solely on inhibitors rather than seek an Alpha’s help during heat.
“Miss,” he said kindly, “you should consider finding an Alpha partner. It would be much safer for you.”
Xia Qiqi shook her head lightly. She didn’t want to. She refused to become dependent—someone’s plaything to be controlled.
An Alpha could choose many partners throughout their life. But Omegas were different. Once marked—whether temporarily or for life—their body and mind would instinctively crave that Alpha alone. To separate would require a painful “mark cleansing,” a process so excruciating most never dared to attempt it.
That was what terrified her most. Being marked, even by accident, would mean surrendering herself completely—body and soul—to someone else.
The doctor sighed and handed her a prescription. “These should help suppress your symptoms for now and stabilize your pheromones. But please, take care of your body. Don’t push it too far.”
“Thank you,” Xia Qiqi murmured.
She picked up the medicine from the hospital pharmacy, then took a cab back to the villa.
When the sound of the car reached the driveway, Xie Yinian looked toward the entrance.
Xia Qiqi walked in, pale and weary from a sleepless night.
“You’re back,” Xie Yinian said, hurrying over. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Xia Qiqi replied weakly, shaking her head.
But the next moment, her knees buckled. Fortunately, Xie Yinian caught her just in time.
“You call this fine?” Xie Yinian scolded gently, holding her upright.
She pressed her hand against Xia Qiqi’s forehead—it was burning hot. A fever.
Noticing the medicine bag still clutched in her hand, Xie Yinian pieced it together—she must’ve gone to the hospital.
Without hesitation, she carried Xia Qiqi to her room and laid her on the bed.
Then, remembering she hadn’t eaten anything all morning, Xie Yinian went downstairs to prepare lunch.
She made a bowl of millet porridge and a few light side dishes, then brought them upstairs.
When she entered, Xia Qiqi had woken up, her throat dry and voice hoarse. “Water.”
Setting down the tray, Xie Yinian poured her a glass.
After drinking a sip, Xia Qiqi glanced at the food. “You cooked this?”
Xie Yinian nodded. “Mm-hmm.”
She lifted the bowl of porridge and handed it to her. “Eat a little.”
Xia Qiqi took the bowl and stirred it with her spoon.
She had never met an Alpha like Xie Yinian before—gentle, respectful, without the arrogance or entitlement typical of her kind. Someone who truly cared about how she felt.
After finishing the porridge, warmth spread quietly through her chest. “Thank you,” she said softly.
“Don’t be so polite,” Xie Yinian smiled, taking the empty bowl. “I’ll head out for now. The medicine’s right there—remember to take it.”
Xia Qiqi nodded.
The door clicked shut, leaving the room dim and still.
She slowly opened the packet of pills, placed one on her tongue, and swallowed it with a sip of water.
Sleepiness soon crept in, and she drifted off once more.
When she woke, evening sunlight spilled across the floor. The fever had passed—thankfully, the medicine had worked.
But when she went downstairs, Xie Yinian was nowhere to be found. The housekeeper told her she’d gone on a business trip and wouldn’t return for a few days.
Xia Qiqi sat quietly in the living room, a book open in her hands.
The villa felt unusually empty. Without Xie Yinian around, even the silence seemed lonelier.
