After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 79
Jiang Muyan was taken aback. “Should I add another condition?”
“Right,” Cheng Jianli picked up a ballpoint pen and added a few neat, elegant lines to the back of the “contract.” “Is there anything you need me to do?”
Jiang Muyan scratched the back of her head. “You’re asking me to come up with something on the spot, I can’t think of anything right now.”
Cheng Jianli said, “Take your time. You have a day to think about it. You can tell me tonight if you want.”
Jiang Muyan gave an “Oh” and watched as Cheng Jianli tucked the paper into her schoolbag.
Cheng Jianli smiled faintly. “Then I’ll sign it after you’ve made up your mind.”
Jiang Muyan gazed at Cheng Jianli’s sparkling eyes and bright smile, unable to suppress a silly grin. “Okay.”
No sooner had she spoken than someone called from outside the door, “Young Mistress, come out for a second!”
Jiang Muyan turned and saw Luo Jiajia standing at the entrance of Class 2, waving at her.
“Teacher Cheng, someone’s looking for me outside,” Jiang Muyan said.
Cheng Jianli glanced at the clock on the wall. “Class is about to start. Come back quickly.”
Jiang Muyan nodded and hurried out of her seat to the door. “What’s up, Jiajia?”
Luo Jiajia craned her neck and whispered, “Has Xu Yinghe contacted you these past few days?”
Jiang Muyan looked puzzled. “No, why? What happened?”
Luo Jiajia sighed. “I heard Xu Yinghe had a huge fight with her dad. She skipped school for days didn’t come to school, didn’t go home. No one knows where she is now.”
“What?” A pang of worry shot through Jiang Muyan. “Did you call her?”
Luo Jiajia said, “I tried calling, but she won’t pick up. Her dad’s going crazy with worry.”
Jiang Muyan asked, “Why not call the police?”
Luo Jiajia shook her head. “It’s no use. Xu Yinghe has fought with her dad and run away multiple times before. The police can’t do anything.”
Jiang Muyan immediately said, “I’ll ask Uncle Liu to help. Don’t worry.”
She took out her phone and walked to the end of the hallway. After explaining the situation to Uncle Liu, he assured her he would send people to look for Xu Yinghe right away.
Hanging up, Jiang Muyan asked, “Did her dad send anyone to search?”
“He did, but they couldn’t find her,” Luo Jiajia said. “Even Uncle Liu might not be able to track her down. Last time, Xu Yinghe disappeared for a whole week before coming back. We thought things would settle down after that, but she just had another fight with her dad recently.”
Jiang Muyan frowned. “What was it about?”
Luo Jiajia shrugged. “She never told me.”
Xu Yinghe was her friend, and Jiang Muyan was growing anxious. “I’ll try calling her a few more times. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.”
Luo Jiajia nodded. “Okay. If you get any news, come to Class 1.”
After the conversation ended, Jiang Muyan returned to her seat with a troubled expression. Cheng Jianli noticed and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Muyan summarized briefly, “Xu Yinghe hasn’t been to school for days. Her dad doesn’t know where she is, and everyone’s worried.”
Cheng Jianli frowned. “Did she answer your call?”
Jiang Muyan said, “I was just about to try.”
Cheng Jianli urged, “Call her now. A missing person isn’t a small matter.”
Jiang Muyan dialed the number. The call went through, but no one answered.
“Let’s wait a bit,” Jiang Muyan said. “I already told Uncle Liu, and he’s helping search. I just hope nothing bad happened.”
Cheng Jianli nodded. “Mm.”
Jiang Muyan had been calling Xu Yinghe during four consecutive breaks, but Xu Yinghe simply wouldn’t pick up. The last time, she even hung up directly.
Jiang Muyan understood.
Xu Yinghe wasn’t missing the calls, she just didn’t want to answer.
She probably assumed Jiang Muyan was calling on behalf of her father.
Having spent enough time with Xu Yinghe, Jiang Muyan knew her temper was a bit stubborn and aloof. Most people would find it hard to get along with her.
The day passed quickly, and before long, it was time to leave school.
As Jiang Muyan packed her bag, she sent a message to Luo Jiajia.
Jiang Muyan: She hung up on me this afternoon. She probably doesn’t want to talk to me.
Luo Jiajia: I figured as much. She hung up on me too.
Jiang Muyan: I wonder if Uncle Liu can find her by tomorrow morning.
Just as she sent that message, her phone suddenly rang. Jiang Muyan looked closely, it was Xu Yinghe calling her back.
She answered immediately, “Hello, Xu Yinghe.”
Xu Yinghe’s voice was soft, “What’s up?”
Jiang Muyan said urgently, “Why did you hang up on me? You haven’t come to school for days. I didn’t even know since I’m in Class 2, Jiajia told me.”
The clinking of glasses could be heard from Xu Yinghe’s side. “I don’t feel like going. Did my dad ask you to call me?”
Jiang Muyan replied, “No, he hasn’t contacted me.”
“Oh, good,” Xu Yinghe’s tone remained flat, “I’m fine.”
Jiang Muyan frowned, “How can you say that so casually? Everyone’s worried about you. I was really concerned when I found out this morning.”
“Sorry, but if I tell you where I am, my dad will come looking for me,” Xu Yinghe took a sip of her drink, “I don’t want him to find me.”
Jiang Muyan didn’t understand what had happened between Xu Yinghe and her father, Xu Wen, so she asked carefully, “What’s going on?”
Xu Yinghe avoided the question, “Nothing.”
Jiang Muyan thought for a moment before asking, “Since you’re running away from home, do you need money?”
Xu Yinghe chuckled, “What, are you offering to send me some?”
Jiang Muyan said, “If you’re broke, running away just to suffer isn’t worth it.”
“No need, Miss,” Xu Yinghe called her that for the first time, “I have money. I’ll be back tomorrow.”
Jiang Muyan brightened, “Really? You’ll come to school tomorrow?”
Xu Yinghe hummed in agreement, “Thanks to you and Jiajia for caring, but don’t tell my dad. I’ll go back on my own.”
Jiang Muyan sighed in relief, “Alright, but you have to come to school tomorrow.”
Xu Yinghe said, “Got it. I’ll call Jiajia now.”
After hanging up, Jiang Muyan exhaled deeply. Cheng Jianli asked, “She called you back?”
Jiang Muyan nodded, “Yeah, she’s fine.”
Cheng Jianli slung her bag over her shoulder, “Good. Let’s go home.”
Jiang Muyan teased, “Teacher Cheng, you were worried about her too?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Running away from home is serious. What if she got kidnapped? Her dad not reporting it to the police is reckless.”
Jiang Muyan said, “Since Xu Yinghe has had similar situations many times before, Uncle Xu probably didn’t want to trouble the police. Well, it’s between her and her father. We shouldn’t interfere.” Once the person was found, Jiang Muyan cheered up again. “Teacher Cheng, let’s go home! The kitchen made osmanthus cakes and egg yolk pastries for dessert tonight!”
Cheng Jianli looked at Jiang Muyan’s bright eyes and replied softly, “Alright.”
“You should eat a few more tonight,” Jiang Muyan pinched Cheng Jianli’s waist. “I’ll check if you’ve gained any weight when we get back.”
Cheng Jianli calmly said, “You should think about what conditions you want to add to our ‘contract’ first.”
Right! She almost forgot about that!
Jiang Muyan snapped back to reality.
But she didn’t know what she needed Cheng Jianli to do, Cheng Jianli was already ranked first in their grade.
When they got home, Cheng Jianli said she would take a shower first, leaving Jiang Muyan to study chemistry alone.
The sound of running water came from the bathroom. Jiang Muyan turned on the orange desk lamp and opened her textbook to study.
She had developed good habits by now. Even without Cheng Jianli supervising her, she could focus intently on her reading.
After about half an hour, her phone suddenly rang, it was Luo Jiajia messaging her.
Luo Jiajia: [Xu Yinghe called me back! She’s fine, don’t worry! (Puppy massage.jpg)]
Jiang Muyan smiled and replied: [She said she’ll come to school tomorrow.]
Luo Jiajia seemed to be in a good mood and sent another message: [By the way, check this out.]
She shared a video that needed to buffer. Frowning, Jiang Muyan clicked on it and immediately saw blurred, shaky movements and pale, slender bodies.
It was two girls, both very pretty, with long hair and fair skin kissing intimately.
Jiang Muyan froze, her face instantly burning red. She messaged Luo Jiajia: [What’s wrong with you?]
Luo Jiajia: [Just helping you out since you might not know what to do.]
Jiang Muyan angrily replied: [Of course I know!]
Luo Jiajia: [Don’t think I haven’t noticed how you feel about Cheng Jianli~ I’m your biggest shipper~]
Jiang Muyan: [What do you want?]
Luo Jiajia: [I think it’s only a matter of time before you pounce on Cheng Jianli, so I sent you a tutorial. Aren’t you grateful?]
As if! It was Cheng Jianli who drained her pheromones!
Jiang Muyan felt wronged, but she couldn’t tell anyone, she had to keep Cheng Jianli’s secret.
So she stubbornly replied: [Your stuff is so outdated.]
Luo Jiajia: [Outdated? It’s beautiful! And both girls are so pretty.]
Hearing the water stop in the bathroom, Jiang Muyan quickly replied: [I’m done talking. I need to do my homework.]
She tossed her phone onto the sofa and tried to focus on her chemistry textbook, but no matter how hard she tried, the shaky scene from the video lingered in her mind.
She didn’t even notice when Cheng Jianli appeared behind her.
Cheng Jianli, wearing pajamas with her hair still damp, spoke in a voice as clear as melting snowflakes in winter: “Which page are you on?”
Jiang Muyan turned abruptly and saw Cheng Jianli drying her hair, water droplets sliding from her rosy cheeks down her slender neck, her whole body exuding a faint, fresh fragrance.
“Why are you looking at me?” Cheng Jianli showed a slightly puzzled expression. “Which page of your chemistry homework are you on?”
Jiang Muyan replied, “Page 48.”
Cheng Jianli sat down beside her. “You’re making good progress. How’s your accuracy rate?”
Jiang Muyan blinked, thinking how particularly beautiful Cheng Jianli looked after her shower. “I haven’t checked the answers yet.”
Cheng Jianli extended her hand, palm up. Though her palm lines weren’t very distinct, her skin was pale. “Give it to me, I’ll check for you.”
Jiang Muyan quickly handed it over.
Cheng Jianli propped her chin with one hand as she checked the answers, her long eyelashes fluttering rhythmically like a fan. The warm orange light cast on her porcelain face, her lips red and slightly damp from the shower, the graceful curves visible below her shoulders.
Jiang Muyan suddenly remembered the sensation from last night and felt her face grow hot.
“Teacher Cheng,” she called out.
Cheng Jianli didn’t look up. “Hmm?”
Jiang Muyan swallowed hard. “If we’re going to sign that contract, I’d like to add one more clause.”
Cheng Jianli asked, “What clause?”
Jiang Muyan said, “I want you to see this.”
With that, she quickly ran to the sofa to fetch her phone.
Cheng Jianli: “?”
Jiang Muyan opened the video player and handed it to Cheng Jianli, saying shyly, “After you watch this, I want you to write me a 500-word reflection.”
