After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 74
Hearing herself being called a “pervert,” Jiang Muyan was utterly baffled. “???”
“Why are you scolding me?” Jiang Muyan said pitifully. “Teacher Cheng, you’re sick and still finding time to berate me.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“Sorry, my bad,” Cheng Jianli turned over, her face slightly flushed. “But I don’t want you wiping me down with alcohol.”
Jiang Muyan asked in confusion, “Don’t you believe in this method?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “…It has nothing to do with belief.”
“Then why?” Jiang Muyan pressed.
Cheng Jianli blurted out, “Because I’m sleepy. Very sleepy.”
Hearing her wife was tired, Jiang Muyan quickly stood up. “Then you should rest.”
“Okay,” Cheng Jianli said.
Jiang Muyan tiptoed away from the bed, carrying Cheng Jianli’s clothes downstairs.
Cheng Jianli’s clothes carried a faint mango scent, sweet and fragrant. Jiang Muyan couldn’t help but think how adorable Cheng Jianli had looked curled up in her blanket, only her delicate, coolly beautiful face peeking out.
Some might see Cheng Jianli as aloof, but Jiang Muyan knew her wife was actually quite endearing in her own way.
Still, Jiang Muyan couldn’t quite grasp why Cheng Jianli refused the alcohol treatment when she was clearly unwell…
A thought suddenly struck her.
Was Cheng Jianli… embarrassed? But that didn’t make sense, she hadn’t been shy when Jiang Muyan helped her put on underwear before.
Baffled, Jiang Muyan climbed to the third floor, so lost in thought that she accidentally dropped two of Cheng Jianli’s intimate garments on the stairs.
The thin fabric lay sprawled on the steps. Jiang Muyan froze, then suddenly realized.
Wait, what had she been thinking? Cheng Jianli wasn’t wearing anything, and she’d been planning to wipe her down with alcohol?
Damn, that’s perverted!
Jiang Muyan covered her burning face in shame.
Once again, she’d unwittingly proven just how much of a creep she could be.
No wonder Cheng Jianli had called her out.
Not daring to dwell on it, Jiang Muyan hastily picked up the clothes and took them to the third floor.
The third floor had a dedicated laundry room where undergarments and outerwear were washed separately to ensure thorough cleaning.
Maintaining pure thoughts, Jiang Muyan sorted Cheng Jianli’s clothes and instructed the maid not to touch them, she’d handle it herself later.
Returning to the living room, she ran into Uncle Liu, who had just come back from outside. Noticing Jiang Muyan’s distracted expression, he asked with a smile, “What’s wrong, Young Miss?”
Jiang Muyan snapped back to reality. “N-nothing…”
“Weren’t you doing homework with Teacher Cheng?” Uncle Liu asked. “Finished already?”
“Not yet,” Jiang Muyan shook her head. “Teacher Cheng might have a slight fever, so I told her to rest first.”
“A fever?” Uncle Liu asked worriedly. “Was it because of the rain earlier? Should I call the family doctor?”
“No need,” Jiang Muyan said. “She said she was exhausted. We’ll see how she feels after waking up.”
Uncle Liu nodded.
“Also, make sure dinner is light,” Jiang Muyan added.
“Understood, Young Miss,” Uncle Liu replied. “The kitchen has prepared ginseng chicken soup and lobster-beef pancakes. Would you like some now?”
Not particularly hungry, Jiang Muyan decided to just have a bowl of soup before heading back.
The kitchen’s chicken broth was simmered to perfection, its rich aroma infused with ginseng, ginger slices, and red dates.
The milky white soup bubbled, its surface dotted with golden oil droplets. Jiang Muyan initially wanted to bring a bowl to Cheng Jianli, but after recalling what had just happened, she didn’t dare go upstairs.
Why did she suddenly feel too embarrassed to face Cheng Jianli now?
Jiang Muyan thought for a moment, then picked up her phone and opened her chat with Tang Yu.
Jiang Muyan: Tang Yu, are you there? I have something to ask you.
Tang Yu replied quickly: Yeah, what’s up, young miss?
Jiang Muyan: Are you busy right now?
Tang Yu: Nah, I’m free. Got basketball in an hour. What’s going on?
Jiang Muyan knew Tang Yu’s grades were decent nothing outstanding, but he must have taken physiology classes. So she typed: Since I’ve presented as an alpha now, should I keep some distance from omegas?
Tang Yu: Of course! Isn’t that obvious?!
Jiang Muyan’s eyes darted around mischievously: But what if the omega doesn’t mind alphas?
Tang Yu: Doesn’t mind? Hmm… I’m not sure. Do you know any omegas? Aside from you and that girl from Class 5, I don’t think anyone else in our school has presented yet.
Jiang Muyan: Hahaha, just asking randomly!
Tang Yu seemed serious on the other end: Even if they don’t mind, you can’t just casually mark an omega. If you do, you have to take responsibility.
Jiang Muyan: I know.
As if she’d ever mark just any omega. She liked Cheng Jianli, if she were to mark anyone, it would only be her.
Tang Yu: Good. But you can still be friends with omegas normally. Just don’t let your pheromones affect each other. Yours is so unique, if an omega smells it, they could easily go into heat.
Jiang Muyan replied with an Okay, then set her phone down and left the kitchen.
On the living room table was the first aid kit that Uncle Liu had brought out for her, containing several bottles of 50% alcohol.
Jiang Muyan sat there quietly, lost in thought. The most important thing right now was to help Cheng Jianli get into C University together. Even though her feelings for her “wife” were completely pure, Tang Yu had a point their pheromone compatibility was so high. What if her scent affected Cheng Jianli?
She picked up one of the alcohol bottles from the kit.
Maybe she should let Cheng Jianli apply it herself? Better not do it for her?
Just as she was thinking this, Uncle Liu emerged from the tool room next door, holding a black umbrella. “Young miss, the housekeeper’s about to start deep cleaning. Would you like to come to the supermarket with me?”
Jiang Muyan blinked. “The supermarket?”
“Yeah, it’s still raining outside, and it’s probably going to get heavier soon,” Uncle Liu said. “We can grab some snacks. Didn’t you say you wanted cheddar cheese? I’ll buy some for you.”
It was true, she’d been craving it for days.
So she stood up. “Then I’ll come too. Wait for me, Uncle Liu.”
Uncle Liu nodded. “Sure, no rush.”
Outside, the autumn wind howled as the downpour continued.
In the garden, withered leaves were tossed wildly by the raindrops, and the carefully pruned plants had their petals stripped away by the storm.
The damp air, mingled with rain, enveloped the entire villa in a misty haze. The floor-to-ceiling windows on the second floor rattled softly as pea-sized droplets slid down the glass, soaking the carpet inside.
Cheng Jianli was sound asleep, her cheeks flushed pink, the snowy curves of her shoulders soft and delicate.
After what felt like an eternity, she opened her eyes, feeling an uncomfortable heat burning on her forehead.
How strange.
Still groggy, Cheng Jianli instinctively touched her forehead.
The skin beneath her fingers was scorching was she really running a fever?
She picked up her phone to check the time and realized she had slept for over an hour. Outside, the downpour had grown even heavier.
The rain poured relentlessly, its sound almost rivaling the sharp crackle of hail.
Cheng Jianli threw off the covers, only to shiver violently the moment the cool air hit her skin.
She had almost forgotten she was sleeping naked…
Her cheeks flushed slightly as she quickly wrapped the blanket back around herself. The room was empty she had no idea where Jiang Muyan had gone.
Another glance at her phone confirmed Jiang Muyan hadn’t sent any messages.
Better find something to wear first.
With that thought, Cheng Jianli rolled out of bed. The floor-to-ceiling window reflected her slender, porcelain back and delicate ankles. She had originally intended to drape the blanket over herself, but Jiang Muyan’s comforter was far too thick she couldn’t even drag it properly.
Sighing, she opened Jiang Muyan’s massive wardrobe, only to find it nearly empty. The house was undergoing a deep clean today, and the maids had taken all the clothes to be washed.
All that seemed to remain were bedsheets and pillowcases.
Just as Cheng Jianli resigned herself to crawling back into bed, a knock suddenly sounded at the door,
“Miss, we’re coming in to clean.”
Someone was entering?!
Her pupils dilated in alarm, but there was no time to scramble back under the covers. In a panic, she ducked into the wardrobe instead!
The moment the wardrobe door clicked shut, several maids pushed into the room.
The cramped, stuffy darkness inside made Cheng Jianli’s heart pound wildly.
Why were the maids coming in now? How was she supposed to leave like this?
Hastily grabbing a bedsheet to cover herself, she strained to listen to the voices outside.
“Huh? The young miss isn’t here?”
“Didn’t I tell you? She went to the supermarket with Uncle Liu, she won’t be back for a while.”
“But Teacher Cheng isn’t here either. Did she go home?”
“Seems like it… Wasn’t she supposed to be resting? Maybe she went back to her own room?”
“……”
Cheng Jianli pressed her pale thighs together, her face burning as she eavesdropped.
The wardrobe was enormous easily big enough to fit three adults. She hunched her shoulders, regretting her impulsive decision to hide. She hadn’t done anything wrong, yet here she was, acting like she had something to hide.
But in that split second, she hadn’t had time to get back into bed. The wardrobe had been her only option.
Time crawled by agonizingly slowly. Cheng Jianli rested her head against the corner of the wardrobe, listening to the maids bustle around the room.
They dusted the tables, the vases, the floor-to-ceiling windows every piece of furniture in sight.
After about twenty minutes, Cheng Jianli considered just stepping out. She was covered by the sheet, after all it wasn’t like anyone would see anything.
Just as she steeled herself, the door swung open again, and an exuberant voice rang in her ears,
“Teacher Cheng, I’m back!”
It was Jiang Muyan.
Jiang Muyan entered with a damp chill clinging to her, carrying a large bag of snacks in her hand. She glanced around but only saw the housekeeper, prompting her to ask, “Where’s Teacher Cheng?”
The housekeeper replied, “Teacher Cheng might have gone back to her room. We didn’t see her when we came in.”
Hearing this, Jiang Muyan sighed, “What a shame. I bought so many snacks for her, but she’s not here…”
However, the moment she set the snacks down on the table, realization struck her.
Wait a minute!
Cheng Jianli wasn’t wearing any clothes, how could she have left the room?!
Jiang Muyan froze, then asked hesitantly, “Are you sure you didn’t see Teacher Cheng when you came in?”
The housekeepers exchanged puzzled glances. “No, we didn’t.”
Oh no!
Was Cheng Jianli still in the room? Was she hiding under the bed or in the closet?
Jiang Muyan quickly said, “You can leave for now. Come back later to clean up.”
Though confused by the sudden request, the housekeepers nodded and left as instructed.
Once they were gone, Jiang Muyan immediately dropped to the floor to check under the bed.
No one there.
Damn, was she in the closet? Jiang Muyan hurried over to the wardrobe. The moment her fingers touched the handle, the door suddenly swung open on its own.
Inside, Cheng Jianli sat curled in the corner, her earlobes faintly flushed. Her slender fingers clutched the bedsheet, and after biting her lip for a moment, she finally spoke. “Where did you go?”
Jiang Muyan let out a startled “Ah!” before stammering, “I, I went to the supermarket. Teacher Cheng, why are you in the closet?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “I got up to look for clothes, but there weren’t any inside…”
“Come out quickly,” Jiang Muyan urged.
Shit, this was so awkward it felt like they were sneaking around!!!
The thought lasted only a second before Jiang Muyan forcefully shook it away. She reached out to pull Cheng Jianli out.
But she tugged too hard, and Cheng Jianli, stiff from crouching in the closet for so long, stumbled forward straight into Jiang Muyan’s arms.
A sudden gust of air swirled around them.
“Ah!”
Jiang Muyan yelped in shock, gripping Cheng Jianli’s arms tightly.
She felt something incredibly soft press against her waist even through the thin bedsheet, the sensation was unmistakable.
Cheng Jianli’s figure… was really too good.
Jiang Muyan’s face burned as her heart raced.
