After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 64
The morning competitions had all concluded, with Class 2 currently leading by a significant margin. Their homeroom teacher Zhang Wen looked at the registration form with delight and said, “Turns out our class excels not just academically but also in sports. You guys are absolutely amazing.”
“Teacher, did you know the class representative also joined the competition?” Rong Rong remarked while checking messages in the CP group chat.
Zhang Wen asked, “Cheng Jianli?”
Rong Rong replied, “Yeah, the class rep and her deskmate signed up for the fun events. If they win, it’ll earn our class extra points though we’re already way ahead, so it doesn’t really matter, hahaha.”
“Cheng Jianli and Jiang Muyan went to compete together…” Zhang Wen mused. She never expected that Jiang Muyan, after becoming Cheng Jianli’s deskmate, could actually convince the usually inactive Cheng Jianli to participate in competitions. It was truly unbelievable.
In the past, Cheng Jianli had always focused solely on her studies, ranking first in the entire grade, which was why Zhang Wen had chosen her as the academic monitor.
Now that Cheng Jianli was willingly taking part in group events, it could be considered progress in her social interactions.
Zhang Wen thought of Jiang Muyan’s beautiful, kind face and felt a sense of relief. Anyone who saw such an innocent expression probably wouldn’t have the heart to refuse her.
Cheng Jianli was no exception.
At the center of the sports field, the first fun event the three-legged race was underway, with Tang Yu as the organizer.
Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli stood at the far left, their appearances completely different, representing two distinct types. Jiang Muyan’s features carried no trace of sharpness; her fair skin and clear, bright eyes seemed to always radiate a simple, cheerful smile.
Cheng Jianli, on the other hand, had a more subdued demeanor, though her long, thick eyelashes cast a soft glow under the sunlight. The snow-white collarbone peeking from her collar was particularly striking, her slender and delicate figure evoking a strong desire to protect her.
Tang Yu marked the starting and finishing lines, then announced in a clear voice, “We’ve divided into five groups for this event. The time limit is 15 minutes. The first team to reach the finish line earns 5 points for their class, with the rest receiving 4, 3, 2, and 1 points accordingly. Only the class with 5 points can advance to the next round, the ‘Crab Carry Watermelon’ race. Understood?”
The crowd responded, “Understood!”
“Everyone knows the rules of the three-legged race, right?” Tang Yu held a stopwatch. “Be careful not to twist your ankles during the race. Also, if the rope comes undone, it counts as a foul, and your points will be disqualified.”
The participants nodded, looking confident.
While the rules were being explained with great enthusiasm, the “Yan-Li” CP group was already gearing up.
Rong Rong and Zhang Ying had prepared everything in advance. The moment Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli stepped onto the field, they would give them the biggest surprise.
The CP group chat was buzzing with excitement.
[Is everyone ready with their parts?]
[Ready!]
[Ready +1]
[Ready +2]
[Ready +3]
[…]
Rong Rong covered her mouth to stifle a giggle. She had reviewed the content last night, it was brilliantly written.
She typed a message: [Once the fun event starts, everyone can recite their parts. Our encouragement will definitely help them secure a top-three finish! Let’s go! Yan-Li shippers never back down!]
…
Time passed slowly. Four groups had already completed the three-legged race, with Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli in the fifth group.
Jiang Muyan bent down to check the ropes tied around her and Cheng Jianli’s ankles, making sure they were tight and wouldn’t come loose.
Cheng Jianli reminded her, “Slow down when we run later. I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep up.”
Jiang Muyan said, “I’ll definitely match your pace.”
Cheng Jianli gave a soft “Mm,” and when Jiang Muyan wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling them close together, she only stiffened for a moment before relaxing.
Running in a three-legged race was bound to be exhausting, and this was the most efficient way though for some reason, lately, Cheng Jianli’s heart would race every time Jiang Muyan touched her.
Was it just her imagination?
She wondered.
Soon, it was the fifth group’s turn.
Tang Yu, wearing a baseball cap and holding a stopwatch, shouted in a booming voice, “Ready go!”
The fifth group surged forward, everyone scrambling to take the lead. Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli, coordinating smoothly, actually managed to secure third place among the crowd.
Cheers and shouts from the sidelines filled the air.
They just needed to hold onto their three points after all, Class 2 was already far ahead in the overall score.
Then, from the spectator stands, Class 2 suddenly erupted in cheers. Amid the uproar, some genius started passionately reciting:
“Jiang Muyan, you’re brave, you strive!”
Another student immediately picked up, as if rehearsed: “Cheng Jianli, you work hard, you succeed!”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Jiang Muyan’s eyes widened. What the hell?!
From left to right, voices carried on:
“Your swift strides race across the field, your seamless teamwork shines in this three-legged race!”
“You are her light, she is your beacon together, you illuminate the sports ground!”
Jiang Muyan: “???”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
Jiang Muyan froze, nearly tripping over the deafening cheers.
Who the hell is shouting this?!
Her mind immediately went to that shipping group.
Don’t tell me Rong Rong and the others are behind this…
The thought sent a tiny thrill through her, but cold sweat still dripped down her forehead at the worst possible moment.
What if Cheng Jianli gets mad?!
She could only grip Cheng Jianli’s waist tighter and push forward, teeth clenched.
Cheng Jianli heard it too but, in perfect sync, she said nothing, only quickened her pace.
The three-legged race continued, and so did the passionate cheering from the stands.
Even someone from Class 1 joined in Luo Jiajia, purely there for the chaos.
She yelled wildly, “The moment Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli were tied together, it was proof they’d walk side by side on this journey!”
Xu Yinghe frowned beside her. “Why are you stirring things up?”
Luo Jiajia cackled. “I’m here to make the young mistress die of embarrassment.”
The voices circled back to Class 2:
“The three-legged race may just be a small competition, but it reflects their unspoken bond and the most sincere, most special feelings between them!”
Then, for the grand finale, Rong Rong decisively stepped up.
Cupping her hands around her mouth, she shouted:
“Because the path you’re running isn’t just the track,” She burst into laughter mid-sentence. “It’s the road to each other’s hearts!”
Jiang Muyan: “!!!”
Cheng Jianli’s face instantly paled. Her legs gave out, her movements falling out of sync with Jiang Muyan’s and she was yanked straight to the ground.
Cheng Jianli stumbled and fell, her snow-white tracksuit now smeared with dust. Jiang Muyan cried out in alarm, “Teacher Cheng!”
She immediately stopped and supported Cheng Jianli by the shoulders. “Teacher Cheng, are you hurt?”
“I’m fine,” Cheng Jianli replied, quickly getting up despite the fall. “Hurry, we’re falling behind.”
There were ten participants in total, paired into teams of two. Currently, Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli were in third place.
“Let’s win first,” Cheng Jianli said, tightening her grip on Jiang Muyan. She pushed aside thoughts about those strange voices earlier, focusing only on securing three points for Class 2.
Yet the more she tried not to think about it, the more the phrase “the path to each other’s hearts” lingered in her mind.
Cheng Jianli’s earlobes turned red.
This was just too much.
…
The three-legged race ended amidst cheers. Though Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli didn’t advance to the next round, they managed to earn three more points for Class 2.
Jiang Muyan quickly knelt to untie the rope binding their ankles. Noticing how red Cheng Jianli’s fair skin had become from the friction, she said with concern, “Teacher Cheng, I shouldn’t have dragged you into this race.”
Cheng Jianli crouched beside her. “At least we scored some points. It would’ve been embarrassing otherwise.”
Jiang Muyan reassured her, “It’s fine. This was just a bonus event anyway our class was already ahead.” She gently massaged Cheng Jianli’s ankle. “Does it hurt?”
Witnessing this scene, Rong Rong and Zhang Ying from Class 2 nearly combusted on the spot.
“Ahhhhhhh, so doting!!!”
“I’m dead, someone get me oxygen!!!”
Cheng Jianli felt somewhat embarrassed. With so many people around, Jiang Muyan was openly massaging her ankle. She withdrew her foot and calmly said, “I’m fine.”
“By the way, what were those voices earlier?” Cheng Jianli changed the subject, standing up. “Were they from our class?”
Jiang Muyan played dumb. “I don’t know.”
Cheng Jianli frowned. “Even if they were cheering, the content was too strange.”
Jiang Muyan scratched her head. “They were just encouraging us in the race. It’s normal for it to be a bit odd.”
“Aren’t you angry?” Cheng Jianli asked.
“Why would I be?” Jiang Muyan replied. “Encouragement is what matters during a competition.”
Cheng Jianli walked ahead in silence.
Jiang Muyan caught up, puzzled. “Are you angry?”
After a pause, Cheng Jianli answered, “Not angry, exactly. I just thought the content was too weird, and with so many people shouting, I couldn’t tell who it was.”
Jiang Muyan thought to herself, Thank goodness Cheng Jianli didn’t figure it out, or the CP fan group would be exposed.
Aloud, she said, “Come on, Teacher Cheng, don’t overthink it. I have the relay race this afternoon aren’t you supposed to wait for me at the finish line?”
Cheng Jianli had wanted to investigate further, but Jiang Muyan mentioned the relay race again, so she replied, “Right, I’ll wait for you at the finish line this afternoon.”
Jiang Muyan beamed. “Seeing you there will make me run even faster!”
“Oh, and…” Jiang Muyan leaned closer. “You promised earlier, you’re wearing a dress for me tonight.”
Why did such a simple statement sound so suggestive coming from Jiang Muyan?
Cheng Jianli mumbled an affirmative, then suddenly remembered something. “But aren’t we going to your dinner gathering tonight?”
Jiang Muyan suddenly realized: “Oh right, I promised Luo Jiajia and the others we’d go to the night market!”
Cheng Jianli asked, “So will you still wear it? I believe I said it was just for you to see.”
Jiang Muyan replied sheepishly, “Since the dress was bought for you, it’s your decision. Wear it if you want, I respect your choice.”
After some thought, Cheng Jianli said, “Then let’s change at your place after dinner.”
Jiang Muyan nodded, “Okay.”
At lunch, Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli went together. Neither wanted to eat much, so they just had a light snack.
The class sports committee member came over to thank them, saying they’d only signed them up for the fun events without expecting any points, yet they’d managed to earn 3 points for Class 2 which was really great.
Jiang Muyan blinked and said sincerely, “Thank Teacher Cheng instead. She kept running even after falling down.”
