After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 56
Several days passed like this and Cheng Jianli had completely moved into Jiang Muyan’s home.
Uncle Liu had arranged a room for her, right across from Jiang Muyan’s. The room was spacious and bright, furnished with a light-blue double bed and a massive wardrobe. However, Cheng Jianli didn’t have many clothes, filling less than a third of the space.
During the day, they went to school together, and in the evenings, Cheng Jianli tutored Jiang Muyan, life was peaceful.
Under her guidance, Jiang Muyan had become remarkably disciplined. She woke up every morning to memorize vocabulary and recited ancient poems before bed, working harder than a study machine.
As for Zhang Qiang and Cheng Tianwei’s case, there was still no final verdict, but Zhang Qiang’s imprisonment was certain, while Cheng Tianwei remained under investigation.
Uncle Liu said he would inform Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli once there was new information.
Zhang Siyuan had taken a long leave to return to his hometown, so he was no longer seen at Hongchuan No. 7 High School.
Senior year should have been the most memorable time, but lately, Jiang Muyan had been wasting her breaks playing soccer with Tang Yu on the back field. Cheng Jianli couldn’t stand it anymore, so during the long break, she went to the field herself to fetch her.
Jiang Muyan, wearing a blue sports jacket with her hair tied in a high ponytail, looked radiant, a few strands of hair clinging to her snow-white cheeks. She juggled the ball while asking Tang Yu, “Isn’t the sports meet coming up?”
Tang Yu crouched on the ground, counting how many times Jiang Muyan kept the ball in the air. “Yeah, sign-ups have been going on these past few days. Your class’s sports rep should’ve announced it by now… Sixteen! You’ve broken your record, Young Miss.”
Jiang Muyan kicked the ball back into Tang Yu’s hands. “Our class rep did announce it, but I didn’t sign up.”
Tang Yu grinned. “Did you forget I signed you up for the 800-meter race without asking?”
Jiang Muyan: “…You seriously want me to run 800 meters?”
Tang Yu looked smug. “Of course! Don’t you remember how you left the second-place runner over 100 meters behind in P.E. class?”
Jiang Muyan said, “But we’re not in the same class. Aren’t you worried Class 1 will lose?”
Tang Yu was completely unfazed. “No big deal. Even if Class 1 loses, Classes 8 and 9 will be at the bottom. There are over 20 classes in total.”
Jiang Muyan asked, “What did you sign up for?”
Tang Yu flashed a bright smile. “The mixed-gender relay, of course. I’m the first runner.”
The mixed relay was always the most thrilling event of the year because you never knew what unexpected mishaps might occur.
Last time, for instance, a boy lost one shoe mid-run, then dropped the other during the baton handoff only for a random passerby to accidentally walk off with it.
In the end, whistles blew all over the field as everyone helped search for the missing shoes.
Jiang Muyan thought for half a second before saying, “The mixed relay… I kind of want to join that too.”
Tang Yu said, “If you do, you’ll have to run with Xu Yinghe.”
Jiang Muyan froze. “Xu Yinghe is in the relay?”
“Yep. Class 1 was short one person, and Luo Jiajia’s been ignoring me lately, so I had to beg her,” Tang Yu explained. “Xu Yinghe’s tall, she should be pretty fast, right? She’ll bring glory to Class 1!”
Jiang Muyan said, “Then I’ll stick with the 800 meters. Xu Yinghe’s probably faster than me anyway.”
Tang Yu said, “The mixed relay isn’t about individual performance. Besides, the relay is in the afternoon while the 800-meter is in the morning, you can do both.”
Jiang Muyan asked curiously, “Then when are the fun events scheduled?”
“At noon! They’ll be held right on this lawn your family built,” Tang Yu replied. “There’s the three-legged race, squat-jump relay, crab walk with watermelons, and stuff like that…”
As Jiang Muyan listened, a familiar calm voice suddenly came from behind: “Aren’t you going back to study?”
Turning around, Jiang Muyan saw Cheng Jianli standing there holding an English textbook. Her tone was indifferent: “It’s been ages since you last memorized vocabulary.”
Spotting Cheng Jianli’s arrival, Tang Yu immediately fled with his soccer ball. Though Cheng Jianli was reasonable, her icy demeanor made him think it best to make himself scarce.
“Teacher Cheng! It’s just that there’s a sports meet coming up, so I was asking Tang Yu about events to sign you up for,” Jiang Muyan quickly moved closer, taking the English book from Cheng Jianli’s hands while desperately changing the subject. “Which one would you like to join?”
“My athletic skills are poor,” Cheng Jianli said.
“No problem! There are fun events!” Jiang Muyan had a sudden inspiration. “Why don’t we team up for one?”
Cheng Jianli frowned slightly. “They’re probably full already.”
“Let’s go check!” Not wanting her wife to catch her slacking off, Jiang Muyan hurriedly steered Cheng Jianli back to the classroom.
Chaos reigned in the classroom as the sports committee member pleaded from the podium: “Doesn’t anyone else want to sign up? Our class can’t even fill the events! We still need two more for fun events, one for the 400-meter, and four for the relay.”
Met with silence, he continued desperately: “Our class can’t just forfeit. At least participate in something.”
Suddenly spotting Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli’s return, his face lit up as if seeing saviors. He rushed over: “Young Miss and Class President, would you like to join an event?”
Before Cheng Jianli could respond, Jiang Muyan leaned in: “What’s available?”
She was actually quite interested in the fun events if there were still spots.
“400-meter, relay, and fun events!” the committee member said eagerly.
“Tang Yu already signed me up for the 800-meter. I can’t do the 400-meter too,” Jiang Muyan said.
“That’s fine! You can just do the fun events!” he quickly offered. “We’re exactly two people short, you and the Class President can fill in.”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
“I’m not athletic,” Cheng Jianli said calmly. “If I participate, we’ll definitely lose.”
The committee member grimaced. “Losing is better than having no participants at all.”
Hearing his lack of faith in Cheng Jianli, Jiang Muyan immediately protested: “Who says we’ll lose? Teacher Cheng and I will definitely take first place!”
Cheng Jianli turned to her, baffled: “Are you feeling alright?”
Indignant, Jiang Muyan insisted: “Teacher Cheng, if we team up for a fun event, we’ll be the most synchronized pair.”
The committee member beamed, pressing his advantage: “Then it’s settled! You’ll both do the three-legged race and crab walk with watermelons.”
Cheng Jianli asked: “Wait, I know the three-legged race, but what’s this crab walk with watermelons?”
The sports committee member said, “It’s when two people hold a balloon between their cheeks and run forward together.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
A faint blush instantly spread across her cheeks. Was she really going to do such an intimate activity with Jiang Muyan?
Jiang Muyan didn’t catch on and simply remarked, “That sounds easy.”
Cheng Jianli frowned. “Isn’t anyone else participating?”
The committee member replied, “No one else is willing. We still need people for the 400-meter and relay races.”
“Teacher Cheng, you should join some events during the sports meet. Sitting in the stands would be so boring,” Jiang Muyan said as she took the sign-up sheet and wrote both their names. “You study all the time without any breaks, this is the perfect chance to relax.”
Her eyes sparkled. “So, what do you say? Join me?”
The form was already filled out was there even a need to ask?
Cheng Jianli could only reply, “Fine.”
The committee member then asked, “Miss Jiang, would you like to join the mixed-gender relay too?”
Seeing that the committee member was still persuading Jiang Muyan to sign up for more events, Cheng Jianli quietly returned to her seat to study.
Jiang Muyan, being easygoing, was talked into joining the mixed relay and had to train every afternoon.
She slumped onto her desk and muttered, “800-meter race, mixed relay, and a fun event. The sports meet is going to be so busy.”
Cheng Jianli said, “You’re too soft-hearted. You sign up for anything they ask.”
Jiang Muyan replied, “But the committee member was struggling, no one else was signing up. Since I could do it, I thought I’d help.”
Cheng Jianli didn’t respond. Just as Jiang Muyan was about to say something else, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She glanced at Cheng Jianli, who was engrossed in her chemistry book, and took out her phone.
It was a message from her and Cheng Jianli’s shipping group.
[OMG, breaking news! Teacher Cheng and Miss Jiang are joining the fun event!]
Replies flooded in immediately.
[No way! Cheng Jianli would actually participate in the sports meet? She’s never done it before!]
[It’s true! I saw the sign-up sheet, they’re both in the fun event, and Miss Jiang even signed up for the mixed relay!]
[Mixed relay!!! I’m so excited!!!]
[You’re missing the point, sis! The fun event is way better, it’s the cheek-to-cheek balloon race! My OTP is gonna be in love!!!]
[Everyone, don’t forget to write subtle cheer notes at noon that day just don’t let them catch on. sneaky laugh.jpg]
[No problem.]
[No problem +1]
[No problem +2]

Jiang Muyan stared at the messages in shock. How had the news spread so fast? They already knew about the fun event?
Suddenly, Cheng Jianli’s calm voice came from beside her. “On your phone again?”
Jiang Muyan immediately straightened up and stuffed her phone back into her pocket.
“Hand it over,” Cheng Jianli said without looking up, extending her hand. “You can have it back after school.”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
Why did Cheng Jianli always catch her using her phone?!
With no choice, she surrendered it. Cheng Jianli turned it off and put it in her bag. “Do some math problems now.”
Jiang Muyan sighed. “Extra homework for tonight?”
“Mm,” Cheng Jianli nodded, then suddenly remembered something and calmly added, “By the way, those days during the sports meet might be my heat cycle. If I seem off, just find a substitute to join you for the fun events.”
Jiang Muyan froze, lowering her voice as she asked, “Heat cycle? Are you sure, Teacher Cheng?”
“Not certain, but it’s likely around that time,” Cheng Jianli replied. “I was thinking of taking leave, but since you’re participating in the mixed-gender relay, I might as well come cheer you on.”
Jiang Muyan said worriedly, “Maybe I should tell the sports committee you’re dropping out. It’s too risky for you like this.”
“It’s fine, I can take omega suppressants,” Cheng Jianli turned her head and smiled faintly. “What’s wrong? Don’t want me cheering for you?”
Jiang Muyan had zero resistance to Cheng Jianli’s smiles her wife looked absolutely breathtaking when she smiled. Mumbling, she said, “I-I do… but I’m more afraid something might happen to you.”
“It won’t,” Cheng Jianli lowered her head nonchalantly. “Even if something does happen, don’t I still have you?”
