After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 53
Cheng Jianli quickly adjusted her tank top.
Jiang Muyan had already rushed to open the door. She turned the handle gently, and it swung open to reveal Uncle Liu standing before her.
Holding an umbrella, he carried the fresh, damp scent of earth on his clothes. In his hands were several cardboard boxes wrapped in plastic foam, untouched by the rain.
Jiang Muyan asked in confusion, “Uncle Liu, is it raining outside?”
Uncle Liu stepped inside. “Yes, Miss. It started suddenly this afternoon, and it’s coming down pretty hard.”
Jiang Muyan looked concerned. “You didn’t get wet, did you?”
Uncle Liu smiled. “There was an umbrella in the car. I’m fine.”
He walked further in and said, “I bought five cardboard boxes for Teacher Cheng. That should be enough.”
Jiang Muyan nodded. “Teacher Cheng has a lot of books.”
Uncle Liu took a seat on the sofa and asked, “Miss, have you had lunch yet?”
Jiang Muyan replied, “I ate a few dumplings.”
Uncle Liu immediately offered, “Are you hungry now? Should I go get some food for you?”
Jiang Muyan shook her head. “No need, Uncle Liu. You should rest for a bit.” She helped drag the boxes inside. They hadn’t been sealed with tape yet, so they’d have to do it themselves. Then she added, “I’ll go get Teacher Cheng first.”
Uncle Liu nodded. As he crouched down to remove the plastic foam, Jiang Muyan had already entered Cheng Jianli’s room and closed the door behind her.
Jiang Muyan said cheerfully, “Teacher Cheng, Uncle Liu is back.”
Cheng Jianli pulled the blanket tighter around herself. “What time is it now?”
Jiang Muyan answered, “Almost one in the afternoon.”
She sat on the soft edge of the bed and patted the blanket right where Cheng Jianli’s slender ankle was causing Cheng Jianli to instinctively flinch.
Unaware of the reaction, Jiang Muyan continued excitedly, “Come on, get up. Uncle Liu is waiting for us in the living room. And it’s raining outside! I slept so soundly I didn’t even notice.”
She chuckled sheepishly.
Cheng Jianli turned her head away, silent for a few seconds before murmuring softly, “I can’t go out like this.”
Jiang Muyan blinked. “Why not?”
Cheng Jianli’s gaze was calm. “What do you think?”
Only then did Jiang Muyan realize Cheng Jianli was only wearing a white tank top and gray shorts. Even though Uncle Liu was a beta, he was still an adult man. There was no way Cheng Jianli could step out like this.
So she immediately started searching around the bed. “I almost forgot. Where did you put your T-shirt? I’ll get it for you.”
Cheng Jianli’s voice was steady, but the tips of her ears tinged faintly pink. “Not just the T-shirt. My underwear too,” she said. “It’s in the bathroom. Go get it for me.”
“But there’s some under the blanket, ” Jiang Muyan started to say, then abruptly shut her mouth.
If Cheng Jianli found out she had smashed the bed because of that, she’d probably get scolded.
She didn’t want to be lectured by her wife.
Jiang Muyan glanced at the black hole in the headboard and silently mourned the bed’s fate.
“What’s under the blanket?” Cheng Jianli caught Jiang Muyan’s wording and raised a delicate brow.
Snapping back to reality, Jiang Muyan stammered, “N-Nothing…”
Cheng Jianli could tell Jiang Muyan was hiding something, so she sat up and reached to pull back the blanket on Jiang Muyan’s side. Before Jiang Muyan could stop her, the thin, cherry-patterned garment instantly came into view.
All wrinkled, as if someone had crumpled it.
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
“Ahhh!!!” Jiang Muyan covered her face preemptively, putting on a brave front. “I don’t know how this got here, but I swear I didn’t do anything!”
Cheng Jianli turned her head and said seriously, “So you saw this earlier and deliberately didn’t tell me?”
Damn.
She fell for it again.
Jiang Muyan decided to stay as quiet as a mouse.
Seeing Jiang Muyan cowering in fear, Cheng Jianli found it somewhat amusing. “What are you doing?”
Jiang Muyan wasn’t good at lying to Cheng Jianli. She lowered her head and mumbled, “Fine, I’ll be honest. The reason I wrecked your bed was because I accidentally touched this. I asked Uncle Liu to buy you a new one to make up for it.”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
What did wrecking the bed have to do with underwear?
She truly couldn’t follow Jiang Muyan’s train of thought.
“No need to replace it,” Cheng Jianli said. Though she found Jiang Muyan’s emotional rollercoaster endearingly naive and cute, she kept her expression calm. “I’m not angry.”
Jiang Muyan looked up nervously. “Really?”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
Jiang Muyan let out a relieved sigh and immediately reverted to her carefree self, scratching her head. “That’s good. I thought you’d be mad if you found out the truth, hahaha.”
Cheng Jianli said, “I don’t get angry that easily. And you don’t have to replace the bed the headboard was already a bit broken.” She glanced at the crumpled garment in her hand. “Did you sleep on top of this?”
Jiang Muyan thought back. “Maybe? You forgot it when you went to shower. I was going to put it away for you, but then you came back in.”
Cheng Jianli said, “Then I’ll just wear this for now.”
Jiang Muyan gave an “Oh,” her earlier anxiety completely gone. She leaned in and said, “Then hurry up and change, Teacher Cheng. Uncle Liu is outside packing your things. We’ll head to my place soon.”
Cheng Jianli nodded lightly.
The cherry-patterned garment had indeed been bought for her by Jiang Muyan, it fit well and looked lovely, adorned with white lace and red floral patterns, gently cinched in the middle. Against Cheng Jianli’s fair skin, it took on a soft apricot hue.
While waiting on the bed, Jiang Muyan picked up her phone to play a game. Cheng Jianli noticed and asked, “What are you doing?”
Jiang Muyan said excitedly, “I’m going to play Mole Manor for a bit. I haven’t finished today’s fishing quest yet.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Cheng Jianli said, “Get out.”
Jiang Muyan: “???”
Jiang Muyan didn’t want to leave, Cheng Jianli’s room was cozy and warm, perfect for gaming.
So she put her phone down and pouted. “It’s not study time yet. Can’t I play games, Teacher Cheng?”
“It’s not about the game,” Cheng Jianli said calmly. “Are you planning to stare straight at me while I undress?”
Jiang Muyan seemed to think of something. She quickly stuffed her phone back into her pocket, scratching her head shyly. “Can I?”
Cheng Jianli gently refused. “No.”
Jiang Muyan: “? Then why did you ask!”
She immediately sat back down, pouting as she nervously fiddled with the pink bedsheet.
The room fell into an eerie silence. After a few minutes, Jiang Muyan suddenly spoke softly, her tone carrying a hint of excitement and hesitation, “How about… I help you fasten the back buttons?”
Cheng Jianli’s cheeks instantly flushed a delicate pink as her rosy lips parted slightly, “…That wouldn’t be appropriate.”
Jiang Muyan remained completely unfazed, “I’ve helped you unfasten them before! What’s there to be afraid of?”
After a brief silence, Cheng Jianli said, “You really don’t see yourself as an alpha at all.”
And last time when she’d asked for help with the buttons, it was clearly because they were broken.
Jiang Muyan continued, “I haven’t even presented yet, and it’s inconvenient for you to do it yourself.” Her voice then took on a slightly aggrieved tone, “Sigh, do you not trust me?”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Jiang Muyan sighed dramatically, “Teacher Cheng, have you ever experienced the feeling of not being trusted by others?”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Jiang Muyan pressed on, “When was the last time someone didn’t trust you?”
Cheng Jianli finally couldn’t take it anymore, “Enough, stop talking. Fine, you can help me.”
Jiang Muyan happily responded with an “Okay!” and waited patiently.
Cheng Jianli turned around, her usually snow-white neck now tinged with a faint pink. She emphasized firmly, “Don’t look at me.”
Jiang Muyan sounded puzzled, “Of course I won’t look. I’m just helping with the buttons.”
The straps of Cheng Jianli’s camisole were gently lifted, revealing skin as white as pristine snow on her back. Her soft black hair cascaded freely, creating a striking contrast against her fair complexion.
After adjusting herself under the covers, Cheng Jianli calmly said, “Hurry up and fasten them.”
Jiang Muyan reached over and grasped the soft fabric.
Though her intentions were pure, she couldn’t help but swallow hard from this angle, her wife’s waist looked incredibly slender!
This thought led her mind astray again. Why didn’t Cheng Jianli eat properly?
Jiang Muyan remarked from behind, “Teacher Cheng, I still think you’re too thin.”
Cheng Jianli simply hummed in response, offering no further comment.
Like a concerned mother, Jiang Muyan continued, “Did your father make you work too much when you were little? You’ve had such a hard life. You need to eat more from now on, understand? Otherwise, you won’t stay healthy.”
Cheng Jianli replied softly, “Didn’t you say you’d cook delicious meals for me when I visit your home?”
Jiang Muyan’s face lit up with joy, “Yes, yes! I even asked Uncle Liu to find a nutritionist to create a customized meal plan for you.”
Cheng Jianli said, “I’ll eat properly. There’s no need to go to such lengths.”
Jiang Muyan immediately protested, “That won’t do!”
Even though just a slight turn of her head would reveal the creamy, beautiful view in front of Cheng Jianli, Jiang Muyan remained completely oblivious, instead saying earnestly, “When you come to my home, I’ll take good care of you. You can count on me.”
Hearing this, warmth spread through Cheng Jianli’s heart. She relaxed and replied, “Okay.”
Jiang Muyan fastened the innermost button and asked, “Is it too tight?”
Cheng Jianli frowned slightly, “A little.”
Jiang Muyan adjusted, “Let me try the middle one then. How about this?”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
Jiang Muyan then leaned closer to her ear and whispered, “Is the front too tight?”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Her earlobes turning red, Cheng Jianli answered in a slightly husky voice, “No, it’s fine.”
Jiang Muyan let go and casually smoothed down Cheng Jianli’s hem, giving her waist a pat through the thin fabric before exclaiming loudly, “All done!”
Cheng Jianli turned around. She was wearing a white tank top with gray cotton shorts a casual, homey outfit yet for some inexplicable reason, Jiang Muyan found herself blushing as she looked at her.
Noticing this, Cheng Jianli paused and asked, “What’s wrong with you?”
Jiang Muyan stammered for a while, as if unsure where to look, before finally turning her gaze away toward the large hole in the wall from earlier. Her face still flushed, she mumbled, “I think you look really, really good in this.”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
Now Cheng Jianli was blushing too. She silently picked up a nearby T-shirt and pulled it on, then said, “You’re so perverted.”
Jiang Muyan turned back, the redness fading from her face. “Huh? No way! I was just appreciating you from an aesthetic perspective.”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Sure you were.”
Jiang Muyan immediately grew indignant. “Of course I was! I didn’t do anything when we slept together today, how could you doubt someone as upright as me, Teacher Cheng?!”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
It was true, she hadn’t done anything.
Admittedly, while Jiang Muyan often spouted suggestive remarks, her actions were always pure. This was something Cheng Jianli found strange. Every time, Jiang Muyan would be the one to start things, yet if Cheng Jianli took even a slight initiative, Jiang Muyan would inexplicably become flustered, blushing and hesitating, acting completely innocent.
How odd.
At this thought, a glimmer of starlight seemed to dance in Cheng Jianli’s eyes as she curled her lips into a smile. “I believe you. I just thought you liked seeing me dressed like that turns out I misjudged you.”
Jiang Muyan opened her mouth, immediately falling into hesitation again. “What do you mean?”
Cheng Jianli asked, “If I sat next to you dressed like this, could you still focus on studying tonight?”
Jiang Muyan froze. “Dressed like what?”
Cheng Jianli lifted the edge of her white T-shirt slightly and smiled. “Without this.”
Jiang Muyan’s face instantly turned crimson. “No way! I won’t let you dress like that! I wouldn’t be able to study at all!”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
Jiang Muyan’s throat felt dry as she stammered, “Besides, there are maids and stuff around the house, so… so you can’t dress like that!” She poked at the bedsheet and added in a whisper, “Unless it’s just the two of us.”
Cheng Jianli let the hem drop and said flatly, “Don’t overthink it. I wouldn’t do that.”
Jiang Muyan: “???”
Realization dawned on her, and her face fell. “Teacher Cheng, were you teasing me again?”
Cheng Jianli gave a faint smile. “Just testing how committed you are to studying.”
Jiang Muyan asked, “And the result?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Not committed at all.”
Jiang Muyan: “…”
She flopped onto the bed in defeat.
In the quiet that followed, Cheng Jianli casually asked, “By the way, do you like people with good figures?”
Huh? Why is my wife asking this?
Is this another trap?
Jiang Muyan instinctively touched the top of her head and answered honestly, “Not really. I don’t have any standards for someone I like. As long as it’s her, anything goes.”
Cheng Jianli gave a soft “Mm” and said, “Maybe I should wear a jacket when I go out later.”
Jiang Muyan’s attention instantly scattered, her thoughts immediately following Cheng Jianli: “It’s fine, Uncle Liu isn’t an outsider. You look very homely like this the white T-shirt suits you well.”
Cheng Jianli said, “Didn’t you say it’s raining outside? It must be quite cold.”
Jiang Muyan snapped back to reality: “Oh right! Let me get you a jacket from outside. I just put all your clothes by the sofa earlier.”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Just bring that blue sports jacket.”
Jiang Muyan paused momentarily before exclaiming, “Teacher Cheng, do you want to wear matching outfits with me?”
Cheng Jianli coughed lightly: “I bought them all. Can’t I wear them?”
Jiang Muyan happily said, “Of course you can! Too bad I didn’t bring that jacket today, we’ll wear them together another time.”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
As Jiang Muyan left and the door closed, the room returned to silence.
Cheng Jianli lowered her eyes, secretly touching the fastener on her back where Jiang Muyan’s warm touch seemed to linger.
Was her figure, really that good?
She glanced briefly at the view beneath her collar before quickly looking away.
It’s probably just average, Cheng Jianli thought calmly, though her cheeks burned.
Jiang Muyan soon returned with the sports jacket. “Turns out Uncle Liu was focused on work in the living room, no wonder he didn’t hear us talking.”
Cheng Jianli got out of bed, her white T-shirt briefly lifting to reveal a slender sliver of pale waist as she took the jacket. “Let’s go out now. We shouldn’t keep Uncle Liu waiting.”
Jiang Muyan made an acknowledging sound and followed Cheng Jianli out.
Uncle Liu looked up from the sofa and smiled. “Teacher Cheng is wearing matching jackets with the young miss today.”
Jiang Muyan asked cheerfully, “What do you think, Uncle Liu? Doesn’t Teacher Cheng look beautiful?”
Uncle Liu smiled warmly. “Yes, just as lovely as the young miss.”
Cheng Jianli asked softly, “Would you like some water, Uncle Liu? Let me pour you some.”
“No need, I’m not thirsty,” Uncle Liu replied as he packed the last books into cardboard boxes and sealed them with tape. “It’s raining heavily outside. I’ll get umbrellas from the car, you two stay inside for now.”
Cheng Jianli asked, “Is the rain very heavy?”
Uncle Liu nodded. “Quite heavy practically a downpour. Our city always gets rain in early autumn.”
Walking into the kitchen, Cheng Jianli saw through the window how the raindrops relentlessly battered the glass before streaming down the walls in torrents.
Jiang Muyan followed her in. “Are you cold, Teacher Cheng?”
Though wearing the jacket, Cheng Jianli still had on knee-length gray shorts. She shook her head. “I’m fine, not cold.”
“That’s good,” Jiang Muyan said. “I was worried you might get chilled.”
With Cheng Jianli’s belongings mostly books packed within twenty minutes, Uncle Liu lifted the bags and boxes. “Shall we leave now, young miss?”
Jiang Muyan said, “It’s still raining, Uncle Liu. You shouldn’t go out, what if you get soaked?”
Cheng Jianli agreed, “Let’s wait until the rain stops, Uncle Liu.”
Uncle Liu looked concerned. “But you only had dumplings for lunch, you must be hungry by now. Dinner’s already prepared at the villa.”
Jiang Muyan said worriedly, “But the rain is too heavy to go out…” Suddenly, she had an idea, “How about we order takeout instead? We can take out the trash when we leave.”
Uncle Liu sighed at the downpour, “Alright, I’ll call the villa to let them know.”
Jiang Muyan took out her phone and asked Cheng Jianli, “Teacher Cheng, what would you like to eat?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “Something simple.”
Uncle Liu suggested, “Young Miss, you could order hot pot.”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
So much for something simple.
Hearing Uncle Liu’s suggestion, Jiang Muyan’s face lit up with joy, “Hot pot sounds great! It’s so comforting to have hot pot on a rainy day!”
As Jiang Muyan placed the takeout order, Cheng Jianli still went to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water. She handed it to Uncle Liu, “Uncle Liu, you must be tired today. Rest on the sofa for a while. My place only has one bedroom, so I can’t offer you a place to sleep.”
Uncle Liu waved it off, “No problem, I’m fine. It’s just that you two only had dumplings. The chairman would definitely worry that I didn’t take good care of you and the young miss.”
Cheng Jianli gave a gentle smile, “It’s alright. Jiang Muyan still owes me three test papers. While we wait for the food, she can finish those first.”
Jiang Muyan, who was in the middle of ordering: “???”
She had almost forgotten, she still had three whole test papers to do tonight!
