After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 27.1
Cheng Jianli lifted her face and silently looked at her: “…”
Jiang Muyan was startled, then awkwardly chuckled, “Oh, Teacher Cheng, you’re awake… haha…”
“Yes,” Cheng Jianli replied, “Waiting for you to come out and correct your mistakes.”
Jiang Muyan had just finished showering, her fair face slightly flushed, her clear eyes like a tranquil pool, her dark hair casually draped over her shoulders, emitting a faint fragrance.
She said sheepishly, “Sorry, did I take too long in the shower?”
“It’s fine. Come take a look at these problems,” Cheng Jianli spread out the math test paper. “Some of these mistakes shouldn’t have happened.”
Jiang Muyan obediently sat beside Cheng Jianli, who carefully explained each step to her. After finishing one problem, she would have Jiang Muyan explain it back to her this way, it would stick better.
Fortunately, though Jiang Muyan could be playful, she was quite bright and quick to grasp things, so Cheng Jianli didn’t have to spend too much time on her.
After going through all the mistakes on the test, Cheng Jianli closed the book and said, “Copy the wrong problems into your error notebook and review them before bed. I’m going to shower now.”
Jiang Muyan nodded earnestly, “Go ahead, Teacher Cheng. Be careful not to slip in the bathroom.”
Once Cheng Jianli entered the bathroom, Jiang Muyan turned on the warm orange bedside lamp and began organizing her mistakes under its soft glow. Her room was light blue, with expensive hardwood floors covered by a pristine white carpet. Beside the double bed was a large floor-to-ceiling window, through which she could see the starry night sky.
Jiang Muyan focused intently on the problems, determined not to embarrass her wife.
Cheng Jianli showered much faster than Jiang Muyan and emerged in no time. Before stepping out, she touched the scent-blocking patch on the back of her neck to make sure it was secure, then walked over to Jiang Muyan and asked softly, “Finished yet?”
“Just one more problem!” Jiang Muyan scribbled furiously while glancing up. “You’re done already?”
“Yes,” Cheng Jianli sat beside her, pulling an English book from her bag to review vocabulary. “Keep writing, I won’t disturb you.”
Cheng Jianli was wearing Jiang Muyan’s loungewear, the belt loosely tied around her waist. From Jiang Muyan’s angle, she could see the slender curve of Cheng Jianli’s waist, delicate as bamboo.
Jiang Muyan’s pen involuntarily stilled.
Her wife’s waist is so slim! Jiang Muyan thought. Back in the infirmary, she had once squeezed Cheng Jianli’s arm and noticed how soft and fair her skin was.
Jiang Muyan stared blankly at Cheng Jianli, who soon felt the weight of her gaze, one minute, three minutes, five. Finally, Cheng Jianli couldn’t take it anymore and turned to ask, “What are you looking at now?”
“Huh?” Jiang Muyan snapped out of it, embarrassed. “Teacher Cheng, what’s your waist measurement?”
“Waist measurement?” Cheng Jianli frowned slightly. “I don’t know.”
“You seem really thin,” Jiang Muyan said.
As she leaned in closer, just a dozen centimeters away, a faint fruity fragrance enveloped her like flowers with a soft, delicate sweetness, or mangoes with their refreshing, intoxicating aroma.
Very special, yet very familiar.
Cheng Jianli said, “Not really. Maybe it’s because I don’t enjoy eating much, so I appear thinner.”
Jiang Muyan said seriously, “Teacher Cheng, you mustn’t diet just to maintain your figure. You should eat more.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll eat properly,” Cheng Jianli replied. “Now hurry up and finish your homework.”
“But you smell so nice, I can’t focus on my work at all.” With that, Jiang Muyan clung to Cheng Jianli’s side. Cheng Jianli was already used to her erratic train of thought and frowned as Jiang Muyan picked up one of her hands.
Every time Jiang Muyan touched her, it was always with the utmost respect, devoid of any ulterior motives. Cheng Jianli trusted her completely.
“What are you doing?” Cheng Jianli asked.
“What kind of body wash do you use? Is it the one on the bathroom counter?” Jiang Muyan lowered her head to sniff Cheng Jianli’s hand, then her own, and pouted. “Why doesn’t mine smell the same as yours?”
Cheng Jianli: “…Is that really important?”
Jiang Muyan: “If you don’t tell me, I feel like I won’t be able to finish the last problem.”
Cheng Jianli sighed. “I use the one on the bathroom counter. Does it smell too strong? Should I go take another shower?”
“No, not at all,” Jiang Muyan quickly shook her head. “It smells really, really good like it’s mixed with mango.”
Cheng Jianli knew Jiang Muyan had caught the scent of her pheromones again.
She wasn’t sure why. Even though she wore pheromone blockers and used suppressants, Jiang Muyan always managed to detect her scent.
Was it because undifferentiated individuals were especially sensitive to pheromones?
Before Cheng Jianli could dwell on it further, Jiang Muyan picked up her other hand and sniffed it too. Cheng Jianli waited silently for a few minutes before finally pulling her hand back. “Alright, that’s enough. Go finish your homework.”
Jiang Muyan let out a disappointed “Oh” before turning back to her desk.
By the time they finished that night’s tasks, it was nearly midnight. Jiang Muyan packed up her things and walked Cheng Jianli to the guest room.
Located on the third floor, the guest room was spacious and bright. Uncle Liu had even decorated it with fresh flowers flown in from abroad, arranged in an elegant vase on the desk, filling the room with a warm, natural fragrance.
Standing at the doorway, Jiang Muyan eyed the room worriedly. “Teacher Cheng, is this bedroom too small for you? Will you be comfortable here?”
Cheng Jianli glanced at the room, which was larger than her own home, and said, “I’m not a giant. Of course I’ll fit.”
“If it’s really not enough, you can stay in my room,” Jiang Muyan offered. “Mine has floor-to-ceiling windows you can see the endless night sky.”
Hearing this, Cheng Jianli couldn’t help but smile faintly. “Do you want to sleep with me?”
Jiang Muyan froze, then immediately blushed. “Is that okay?”
Cheng Jianli cut off her hopes. “No, I’m used to sleeping alone.”
Undeterred by the rejection, Jiang Muyan scratched her head. “Then how about I stay here, and you take my room instead?”
Cheng Jianli lowered her gaze, her heart softening once again at Jiang Muyan’s sincerity. “No need. This room is perfect. Thank you.”
Jiang Muyan lingered at the doorway for a while longer before finally leaving.
A few days later, at Hongchuan Seventh High School.
When Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli walked into Class 2 together, they overheard a few classmates whispering: “Did you hear? There’s this super arrogant transfer student in Class 4.”
“Yeah, but what does Class 4 have to do with our Class 2? The monthly exams are coming up, and I haven’t even finished reviewing science subjects,” another student replied. “Besides, that guy isn’t even good-looking. Not interesting.”
Hearing “Class 4,” Jiang Muyan’s brow furrowed slightly.
She vaguely recalled something, the system had told her a few days ago that the male lead would transfer to Class 4 after returning from his trip. Could this person be him?
Noticing Jiang Muyan slowing her pace, Cheng Jianli asked, “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Muyan quickly caught up. “Nothing. Teacher Cheng, did you know someone transferred to Class 4?”
Cheng Jianli replied, “I don’t pay attention to other classes.”
Jiang Muyan paused, remembering that when they first met in the equipment room, Cheng Jianli hadn’t known who she was either.
As expected, her wife was the type who just wanted to focus on studying.
“I need to get test papers from the chemistry office. Use this time to memorize 10 words,” Cheng Jianli assigned Jiang Muyan a task.
Jiang Muyan said, “I’ll go with you.”
“No need. I’ll be right back,” Cheng Jianli replied.
Jiang Muyan nodded and started memorizing words diligently.
After Cheng Jianli left the classroom, it was currently the long break between classes, the hallway was filled with playful, noisy students, except for the quieter staircase area.
As Cheng Jianli reached the fourth floor and was about to turn the corner, a voice suddenly called out, “Well, if it isn’t Cheng Jianli?”
Turning around, Cheng Jianli saw a familiar yet repulsive face. She froze, realizing she wasn’t mistaken.
It was Zhang Siyuan. What was he doing here?
Standing at just 1.75 meters with unremarkable looks, Zhang Siyuan always gave off an insincere vibe when he smiled. But he was smooth-talking and sociable on his very first day in Class 4, he’d already befriended the boys there.
Slapping a male classmate’s shoulder, he said, “See? This is my cousin.”
Zhang Siyuan was Cheng Jianli’s cousin. When she had wanted to attend Hongchuan No. 7 High School, her father, uncle, and cousin had all strongly opposed it, they’d wanted her to start working in a factory immediately to earn money for Zhang Siyuan’s future house.
Cheng Jianli didn’t know how Zhang Siyuan had ended up here, nor did she care. She turned to leave, but being ignored instantly darkened Zhang Siyuan’s mood. He rushed downstairs to block her path, sneering, “Not coming home even once a year? Impressive. If I hadn’t transferred here, I wouldn’t have known you’d become the study committee member in Class 2.”
Clearly, he’d already gathered information about her.
Calmly, Cheng Jianli asked, “Why are you here?”
“If you can study here, why can’t I? Besides, your dad adores his nephew, he couldn’t wait for me to enroll,” Zhang Siyuan leaned against the stair railing, looking smug. “Cost him 90,000 yuan. Must really sting, huh?”
Cheng Jianli’s face remained expressionless, and she didn’t say a word. Seeing that his provocation had no effect, Zhang Siyuan flushed with anger and shouted, “Stop acting all high and mighty! Cheng Jianli, don’t think I don’t know about your dirty little secrets. Just because you’re good at studying, you think you’re so great? Let me tell you, even if your dad won’t let you go to school, he can’t stop me, he always preferred sons anyway!”
Cheng Jianli replied coldly, “If you’re so eager to be someone’s son, why don’t you go call him ‘Dad’ yourself?”
“You!” Zhang Siyuan choked on his words.
Jiang Muyan had been sitting at her desk memorizing vocabulary when Tang Yu suddenly burst into Class 2’s doorway, calling out, “Young Mistress, trouble’s brewing!”
Jiang Muyan looked up, puzzled, and walked over. “What’s going on?”
“Your desk mate seems to be cornered at the fourth-floor stairwell. You might want to check it out,” Tang Yu said. Ever since he’d accepted several thousand yuan from Jiang Muyan, he’d become more alert than a radar. “It’s someone from Class 4, same class as that guy who used the differentiation serum last time. Let me tell you, some people in Class 4 are total trash. Aren’t you worried your desk mate might get bullied?”
