After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 23.1
“I’m Xu Yinghe, Jiang Muyan’s friend,” Xu Yinghe reintroduced herself. “Jiang Muyan’s had a bit too much to drink. We were going to call her family’s driver, but she wouldn’t let us. She insisted on calling you.”
“Can you come now?” Xu Yinghe asked. “Just take her home.”
There was a long silence on the other end before the reply came: “I’ll ride my bike over, so it might take a while. Send me the address.”
“Alright.”
Xu Yinghe hung up and sent the address as instructed.
“Who was it?” Luo Jiajia asked, supporting Jiang Muyan with a look of shock. “Don’t tell me Jiang Muyan secretly got married behind our backs?!”
Xu Yinghe replied, “Your imagination is running wild.”
“Then who was it? What did they say?” Luo Jiajia pressed.
“If I heard correctly, that voice belongs to the class monitor from Class 2,” Xu Yinghe said, slipping the phone back into Jiang Muyan’s pocket. “Why would Jiang Muyan give her such a weird nickname? And isn’t the Class 2 monitor supposed to present as an alpha? Does Jiang Muyan like alphas?”
“Wait,” Luo Jiajia interrupted, “are you saying that number belongs to Cheng Jianli? She’s coming to pick up Jiang Muyan?”
Xu Yinghe nodded. “Seems like it.”
“Since when is the Class 2 monitor so helpful?!”
“No idea,” Xu Yinghe admitted, equally puzzled. “Well, Jiang Muyan is the type to do whatever she wants. It’s not surprising she’d have random nicknames saved in her phone.”
“Speaking of which, is Cheng Jianli’s medical report really for an alpha?” Xu Yinghe added. “I don’t think anyone’s actually seen it.”
“Not sure. I haven’t seen it either,” Luo Jiajia shrugged. “The Class 2 monitor isn’t exactly close with us.”
Xu Yinghe thought for a moment before saying, “Cover Jiang Muyan with a jacket first. We don’t want her catching a cold.”
As they waited, Luo Jiajia’s birthday party continued.
The private room was lively and warm, with shifting lights from the dazzling overhead fixtures casting layered shadows on everyone.
About half an hour later, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Three polite, concise raps.
Luo Jiajia froze and turned to Xu Yinghe. “Don’t tell me Cheng Jianli actually came?”
Xu Yinghe checked her watch. “Probably her. Forty minutes.”
“I still can’t believe it,” Luo Jiajia muttered as she walked to the door. “There’s no way Cheng Jianli would come to a place like this…”
She gripped the cold handle and pulled the door open forcefully.
The moment the door swung open, Luo Jiajia froze.
Cheng Jianli’s face was indeed standing before her.
Her expression was calm, her features delicate and cool. Her dark eyes seemed to hold a glimmer of light, and she wore a beige school uniform with jeans, her hair cascading over her shoulders, covering her fair neck.
Cheng Jianli spoke softly, “Excuse me, is Jiang Muyan here?”
Luo Jiajia snapped out of her daze. “Y-yes, she is.”
Cheng Jianli glanced inside and spotted someone slumped haphazardly on the sofa, undoubtedly Jiang Muyan.
Cheng Jianli explained, “Someone called me earlier and asked me to pick up Jiang Muyan. That’s why I’m here.”
“It was her who told us to call you,” Luo Jiajia quickly ushered the person inside. “Our birthday party isn’t over yet, so we’ll have to trouble you to take her home.”
When Cheng Jianli entered the private room, she realized how chaotic it was several people were already drunk and sprawled on the sofa, glow sticks and game cards scattered across the floor. Jiang Muyan lay there with flushed cheeks, her eyes half-lidded and dazed as she stared at the ceiling.
How could she have gotten this drunk?
Cheng Jianli truly couldn’t understand it.
After receiving Xu Yinghe’s call, she had first tried contacting Jiang Muyan’s mother. However, Lin Shu’s phone was unreachable. From what Cheng Jianli knew, Lin Shu and Jiang Huai were likely still at the office this late, with their phones turned off.
She then considered reaching out to Uncle Liu, who usually took care of Jiang Muyan, but she didn’t have his contact information. After hesitating for a while, she sighed and decided to pick Jiang Muyan up herself.
Cheng Jianli wasn’t sure why she was doing this notifying Jiang Muyan’s family would have been the better choice.
Xu Yinghe had never wanted to speak face-to-face with a poor student like Cheng Jianli in the first place. She had only made the call out of consideration for Jiang Muyan. But seeing Cheng Jianli standing there motionless, Xu Yinghe still stood up and said, “Jiang Muyan’s phone and bag are here. Take them back with you.”
Cheng Jianli nodded and crouched beside the sofa, gently patting Jiang Muyan’s cheek. “Jiang Muyan, it’s time to go. Get up.”
Dizzy and muddled, Jiang Muyan instinctively murmured with her eyes closed at the sound of Cheng Jianli’s voice, “Wifey, you’re here…”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
A faint blush spread across her fair skin, her long lashes trembling slightly.
How many times had she told her not to call her that?
Jiang Muyan’s voice was so soft that only Cheng Jianli heard it. She decided to quickly get Jiang Muyan out of there before anything else could happen.
Cheng Jianli stood up. “I’ll take her with me now.”
Luo Jiajia helped Cheng Jianli lift Jiang Muyan, but Cheng Jianli wasn’t strong enough, and Jiang Muyan ended up leaning heavily against her shoulder.
A clear, sweet fragrance drifted into the air.
The faint scent of mango made Jiang Muyan’s alcohol-addled mind grow even hazier.
Unable to resist, she nuzzled against Cheng Jianli’s neck. “Wifey, you smell so good. ”
Cheng Jianli immediately covered Jiang Muyan’s mouth with her hand, glancing at Xu Yinghe and Luo Jiajia to make sure they hadn’t heard. Then, calmly, she said, “We’re leaving.”
“Thanks for your help. Be careful on the way back.” Seeing that Jiang Muyan had indeed stopped causing trouble and was now obediently leaning on Cheng Jianli’s shoulder, Luo Jiajia finally relaxed.
Cheng Jianli led Jiang Muyan out of the private room.
Outside, the night breeze was cool, and only a few people lingered on the streets. Jiang Muyan clung to Cheng Jianli like an octopus, forcing Cheng Jianli to struggle to support her.
She was certain she had applied scent-blocking patches and sprayed suppressants before leaving so how could Jiang Muyan still smell her pheromones?
Had she also presented?
Cheng Jianli instinctively glanced at the back of Jiang Muyan’s neck.
After presenting, alphas and omegas would become extremely sensitive to pheromones and develop thin scent glands. But Jiang Muyan’s neck was completely clean there was nothing there.
Cheng Jianli was even more confused now. If Jiang Muyan hadn’t presented, how could she always detect her pheromones? Was it really just because they were too close?
While deep in thought, Jiang Muyan, who had been leaning on her shoulder, suddenly nuzzled closer and happily called out, “Wifey, hehehe, wifey…”
Cheng Jianli felt uncomfortable from the nuzzling, her neck itching, but still managed to remind her, “Don’t call me that.”
“Why not…” Jiang Muyan immediately looked up with a pout upon hearing the refusal, but when her eyes met Cheng Jianli’s face, they clouded over with confusion and bewilderment.
Frowning, Cheng Jianli stared at her as Jiang Muyan vigorously rubbed her eyes, remained dazed for a moment, then suddenly flopped back onto her shoulder, mumbling, “Wifey, you look so good in your school uniform, hehe…”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
“Jiang Muyan, I came here by bicycle,” Cheng Jianli said.
“You’re going to ride me back on your bike?” Jiang Muyan’s eyelids were heavy, but she still earnestly advised, “Wifey, no drunk driving.”
The corner of Cheng Jianli’s mouth twitched. “Since when is a bicycle considered drunk driving?”
Jiang Muyan replied, “A bicycle is still a vehicle. Safety first on the road!”
“I didn’t drink,” Cheng Jianli said.
“But I did!” Jiang Muyan whined. “If I’m drunk, it still counts as drunk driving!”
Cheng Jianli was certain Jiang Muyan was thoroughly wasted. Riding a bicycle with a drunk person was obviously out of the question, so she had no choice but to hail a cab.
“Stand still first. I’m calling a taxi,” Cheng Jianli instructed.
Jiang Muyan obediently said, “Okay,” and stood beside her.
Taxis were plentiful in the area, and soon enough, they managed to flag one down. Cheng Jianli gave the driver the address and let Jiang Muyan lean back to rest.
When they arrived at the villa, as expected, Jiang Huai and Lin Shu hadn’t returned yet. Only Uncle Liu was home. Seeing Cheng Jianli dragging a drunken Jiang Muyan inside, he hurried over. “What happened to the young miss?”
“She drank too much at a classmate’s birthday party,” Cheng Jianli explained.
Uncle Liu helped steady Jiang Muyan. “Come inside first, Teacher Cheng. You should come in too.”
Cheng Jianli nodded, and together they hauled Jiang Muyan into the villa. As she was being supported, Jiang Muyan drunkenly looked at Uncle Liu and asked in confusion, “Who are you? Where’s my wifey?”
Uncle Liu: “…”
“Young miss, you’re drunk. Let’s get you to bed,” Uncle Liu said, dismissing her rambling.
Hearing the term “young miss,” Jiang Muyan blinked hard, struggling to think before suddenly exclaiming, “Oh! I remember now, you’re Uncle Liu!”
“Glad you still recognize me,” Uncle Liu said with a wry smile.
“Then… where’s my wifey?”
Jiang Muyan swayed as she turned her head and suddenly spotted Cheng Jianli standing to her right.
She immediately pounced on her like an animal. “Wifey!”
Cheng Jianli nearly had her neck snapped from the impact. “…”
“The young miss is drunk and isn’t making sense. Please don’t take it to heart, Teacher Cheng,” Uncle Liu quickly said as he peeled Jiang Muyan off her.
“It’s fine,” Cheng Jianli murmured, turning her face away. “Does she… often act like this?”
Uncle Liu asked, “Do you mean if the young miss often gets drunk?”
Cheng Jianli nodded. “Yes.”
Uncle Liu chuckled. “She usually doesn’t like drinking.”
“Then when she’s drunk, does she call other people like this too?” Cheng Jianli asked.
Uncle Liu thought for a moment. “I wouldn’t know about that.”
Jiang Muyan was helped back to her room and placed on the bed. Uncle Liu said, “I’ll go call the housekeeper to give the young miss a bath first. Teacher Cheng, you’ve worked hard today, let me drive you home.”
“It’s fine,” Cheng Jianli replied. “I can go back by myself.”
With that, she turned to leave.
But just as Cheng Jianli was about to walk away, Jiang Muyan suddenly reached out and grabbed the hem of her school uniform. In a dazed voice, she mumbled, “Wifey… can we not sleep in separate rooms tonight?”
Cheng Jianli: “…?”
Uncle Liu froze for a second, assuming his young mistress was still talking nonsense, and quickly explained, “Young Miss, this is Teacher Cheng.”
“T-Teacher Cheng?” The title seemed vaguely familiar to Jiang Muyan. She rubbed her eyes, her vision still blurry as she tried to focus.
Cheng Jianli’s face was cool and composed, but her lips held a faint trace of red so tempting that Jiang Muyan felt the urge to gently bite them. She stared for a long moment before suddenly lowering her head shyly. “Wifey, why are you staring at me like that… geez…”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
Who had been staring at whom this whole time?!
Uncle Liu couldn’t help but chuckle. “The young miss must really be drunk. I’ll have the housekeeper prepare some sobering soup and bring it over later.”
