After Transmigrating into a Ridiculous Alpha, I Saved My Aloof Omega Wife - Chapter 12
Seeing Cheng Jianli didn’t respond, Jiang Muyan continued, “What if I score higher than Gu Xi in the monthly exam?”
“You’re not in the same school, so there’s no comparison,” Cheng Jianli replied. “Besides, your mother hired me specifically to improve your grades. If you don’t do better, the money would be wasted.”
Realizing she wasn’t getting anywhere with her question, Jiang Muyan gave up and turned away, muttering gloomily, “But I don’t know how.”
Cheng Jianli said, “Because your foundation is too weak.”
Jiang Muyan grew anxious. “Then what should I do? Is there still hope for me?”
“There’s still a year left before the college entrance exam. If you’re willing to study, there’s hope,” Cheng Jianli replied. “But before that, I think you should focus on preparing for the monthly exam first.”
“The questions in the monthly exam are all basic. I’ll outline the key topics for you these next few days, and you need to understand every question,” Cheng Jianli said, pulling books from her bag. “Chemistry and biology aren’t difficult, so we’ll start with those. Understood?”
“Mhm,” Jiang Muyan nodded eagerly, then suddenly smiled shyly. “Teacher Cheng, this is the first time I’ve heard you say so much.”
Cheng Jianli: “…You have a really strange way of focusing, you know that?”
An hour later, Cheng Jianli had finished covering the main points for chemistry and biology. Jiang Muyan’s head was spinning from all the information. “Let’s stop here for now,” Cheng Jianli said. “If you have any questions, ask me at school on Monday.”
“You’re leaving already?”
“Yes,” Cheng Jianli glanced out the window at the pitch-black sky. “It’s late.”
“Then I’ll walk you home,” Jiang Muyan quickly stood up. “I don’t feel comfortable letting you go back alone.”
Cheng Jianli didn’t refuse. As she packed her bag, she noticed the scent-blocking patch still stuck to the back of Jiang Muyan’s neck and fell silent.
“Why are you still wearing that?” Cheng Jianli asked.
“Huh?” Jiang Muyan scratched her head before realizing what she meant. “Oh, you mean this bandage? It smells really nice, so I kept it on.”
Cheng Jianli: “…Aren’t you worried someone might see it?”
As soon as she asked, she felt it was unnecessary, she remembered Jiang Muyan was the type of student who skipped physiology class.
Sure enough, Jiang Muyan replied, “It’s just a bandage, it shouldn’t be a big deal… Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone you gave it to me. I told my dad I just stuck it on for fun.”
Cheng Jianli: “Mm.”
“But why hasn’t your wound healed yet? It’s been days,” Jiang Muyan asked worriedly. “Can you not see the back of your neck? Let me check for you. We even have a doctor at home.”
Her tone was so sincere it was impossible to suspect any ulterior motives.
An undifferentiated person wanting to inspect an omega’s neck, no matter how you looked at it, it was inappropriate.
When Cheng Jianli didn’t respond, Jiang Muyan pressed on, “Teacher Cheng, let me take a look?”
Cheng Jianli’s ears flushed bright red, her beautiful eyes hidden behind her lashes as she reflexively covered the back of her neck. “…No.”
Jiang Muyan thought she saw Cheng Jianli blush—or maybe not. After a pause, she said, “Then make sure to take care of your wound these next few days. Don’t eat anything too spicy.”
“Mm.” Cheng Jianli stepped out of the room first.
The two went downstairs. Jiang Huai and Lin Shu were still at the company and hadn’t returned, leaving only Uncle Liu waiting in the living room. Seeing Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli come down, he stood up and asked, “Miss, shall I take Teacher Cheng home?”
Jiang Muyan nodded.
Cheng Jianli said, “Thank you for the trouble.”
Uncle Liu smiled warmly, “No trouble at all. The car’s outside, I’ll go bring it around first.”
With that, Uncle Liu went out. Jiang Muyan and Cheng Jianli walked to the villa entrance to wait for him. Rows of streetlights cast soft, yellowish glows around them.
Cheng Jianli stood silently under the lamplight. Jiang Muyan gazed at her cool, beautiful profile and, wanting to strike up a conversation, called out, “Teacher Cheng.”
Cheng Jianli turned slightly, “Hmm?”
Jiang Muyan looked at her. Under the warm streetlight, Cheng Jianli’s usually aloof face seemed softer somehow.
After a long pause, Jiang Muyan scratched her head sheepishly, “Teacher Cheng, you’re really pretty.”
Cheng Jianli: “…”
She silently turned her head back. Jiang Muyan’s vocabulary seemed limited to just “pretty” and “beautiful” when describing her, yet every time she said it with such sincerity that it never felt like flattery.
Seeing Cheng Jianli remain silent, Jiang Muyan thought she might have said something wrong and was about to explain when Cheng Jianli suddenly spoke, “Actually, very few people say that to my face.”
“Huh?” Jiang Muyan looked puzzled, “Are they blind?”
A faint smile flickered across Cheng Jianli’s face, so brief it was almost imperceptible, “No, it’s because I don’t have many friends.”
Jiang Muyan happily said, “Oh,” but then immediately thought of something and added sourly, “Isn’t Gu Xi your friend?”
Cheng Jianli thought for a moment before turning to her, “Now that you mention it, I think she did call me pretty once.”
Jiang Muyan’s jealousy flared. Mumbling, she asked, “Did that make you happy?”
Cheng Jianli: “?”
“Just okay,” Cheng Jianli replied.
Jiang Muyan’s face fell instantly. Cheng Jianli noticed, “Why do you always compare yourself to her?”
Jiang Muyan pouted, “Because you helped her with the test papers today.”
So, she was still holding onto that…
Unsure how to respond, Cheng Jianli simply said, “If you’re worried, she’ll outperform you, you could try doing more basic practice questions.”
Jiang Muyan: “Even if I do, I still won’t get them. I’m terrible at studying.”
Cheng Jianli: “You’re just not putting in the effort.”
Jiang Muyan: “But… but I really can’t learn it.”
Cheng Jianli: “What about the problems I explained to you today? Did you understand any of them?”
Jiang Muyan thought for a moment, “Some of them.”
“See?” Cheng Jianli said, “The monthly exams are simple. You just need to grasp the basics to pass.”
As they talked, Uncle Liu drove up in the limited-edition new car. Jiang Muyan let Cheng Jianli get in first before following her into the back seat.
There was a tinted glass partition between the driver’s seat and the back. Jiang Muyan didn’t ask Uncle Liu to lower it. After Cheng Jianli gave her address, she said to Jiang Muyan, “You really didn’t need to see me home.”
“I was worried,” Jiang Muyan replied. “After what happened today, what if someone tries to cause trouble for you?”
She was referring to the incident in the alley.
Cheng Jianli recalled Jiang Muyan’s actions earlier how she had grabbed that alpha by the collar, looking genuinely furious.
Cheng Jianli didn’t quite understand this feeling of being protected, but still responded politely, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, we’re all from Class 2!” Jiang Muyan said proudly. “Besides, I have something to ask you.”
Cheng Jianli: “What is it?”
Jiang Muyan suddenly blushed, looking extremely conflicted.
Cheng Jianli: “?”
Jiang Muyan lowered the soundproof glass partition between the driver’s seat and the backseat, then pointed at her neck and said shyly, “I know it’s embarrassing to keep asking for things, but… the scent on this band-aid is fading. Could you give me another one?”
Cheng Jianli, who didn’t detect any embarrassment from her at all: “…”
Just how much did she love sticking on omega scent-blocking patches?
