Yan Zhu suddenly finds herself transported into the world of a novel she once written.
However, she quickly realizes that something is terribly wrong. Not only has the entire plot completely fallen apart, but the female protagonist she created has also undergone a complete reversal in personality.
“Song Wenqing was raised in the sect from childhood. She possessed extraordinary talent, had a gentle and kind disposition, and was beloved by all the disciples.”
But the Song Wenqing Yan Zhu meets is nothing like the one she wrote. She is paranoid, gloomy, and deeply distrustful of everyone.
Song Wenqing grips Yan Zhu’s wrist so tightly that it hurts, forcing her into a corner. She raises Yan Zhu’s chin, making sure her eyes can see no one but herself.
“Are you planning to leave me again?”
When Yan Zhu wrote the novel, she wanted to give her beloved heroine everything.
She gave Song Wenqing unmatched talent, an admirable personality, the love and admiration of everyone around her, and the happiest fate she could imagine.
She wanted Song Wenqing to stand high above the world, untouched by hardship or suffering.
Yet the very first time Yan Zhu meets her, she finds Song Wenqing lying in a muddy swamp, covered in blood, with all of her cultivation destroyed.
Yan Zhu had also wished for Song Wenqing to be loved forever, so she carefully created an almost perfect male lead who was meant to love her more than anyone else.
Instead, she discovers that the male lead wants nothing more than to kill Song Wenqing. Even the male supporting characters, who were originally written to be deeply devoted to her, are now all surrounding the novel’s second female lead.
Yan Zhu eventually discovers the source of everything that has gone wrong.
At that moment, she finally understands the mission she must fulfill.
She must eliminate the outsider and restore everything to its proper course.
That was the fate that should have belonged to Song Wenqing.
Yan Zhu watches as the statue of a goddess collapses.
She lifts the fallen deity back onto her feet, wipes away the dirt covering her, and places her back upon the sacred altar where she belongs.
But the goddess only grasps her wrist tightly and asks,
“Are you leaving me again?”
Song Wenqing is framed by others and loses all of her cultivation. She is falsely accused of being a demonic cultivator, despised by everyone in her sect, and hunted by the righteous cultivators of the cultivation world.
Exhausted and unable to continue, she collapses into a muddy swamp, her entire body stained with blood.
At that moment, she believes she is about to die.
Then she sees a strangely dressed person walking toward her.
The stranger speaks in an equally strange manner, but in the end, she does not kill Song Wenqing. Instead, she kindly takes care of her.
Song Wenqing dares not reveal her true identity.
She is terrified that the other person will abandon her once she learns the truth.
After all, she truly has become a demonic cultivator.
Yet that person always seems so gentle. Always stands by her side, no matter what happens.
“You won’t leave me right?”
But she receives no answer.
A heart demon is born within Song Wenqing.
In the endless darkness, she encounters a sun.
She wants that sun to belong to her forever. Even if its light burns her, she does not care.
She no longer wishes to sit alone upon the lonely pedestal.
She has no interest in the remorse of those people, nor does she care about the things she once treasured.
She says,
“I was always a demon.”
She is willing to remain tainted by the darkness. As long as she can chain the sun to her side.
