After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 41.1
Chu Ling’s eyes widened slowly, her mind going completely blank in that instant. She couldn’t comprehend why such a coincidence had occurred.
How could something so coincidental happen?!
Help, someone help me!!
And this scene was way too much like something out of an idol drama. If she saw it on TV, she’d only feel secondhand embarrassment… Wait, no now she was the one experiencing this embarrassment firsthand!
Her thoughts were a tangled mess. When she first realized what had happened, her brain had completely short-circuited.
And now, perhaps due to sheer shock, her mental CPU had overheated, sending her mind spiraling into chaotic overdrive.
By this point, it had devolved into pure fright.
Clearly, Song Qingyi hadn’t expected such a coincidence either. When she chose to tackle Chu Ling to the ground, she hadn’t given it much thought.
The situation had been urgent, and she hadn’t had a better solution at the time, so her only option was to push Chu Ling down to avoid disaster.
Who could’ve predicted such an absurd coincidence?
The sensation against her lips was as soft as ever, though slightly dry probably from dehydration.
The thought flashed through Song Qingyi’s mind for a split second, and she instinctively wanted to moisten them for her. Fortunately, reason quickly reasserted itself.
Then, when her vision refocused, she met Chu Ling’s wide, disbelieving eyes.
The disbelief was unmistakable.
Song Qingyi paused briefly before calmly getting up and extending a hand toward Chu Ling. “You okay?”
Chu Ling was still frozen. It took her a while to snap out of it, only to realize that Song Qingyi was acting completely unbothered, as if their accidental kiss had never happened.
Her cheeks flushed slightly, and under the other’s gaze, she instinctively reached out to take the offered hand.
Once they were both back on their feet, Chu Ling carefully took a deep breath and glanced at Song Qingyi.
She didn’t seem to care about the earlier accident at all.
That thought surfaced in Chu Ling’s mind.
Well, it was just an accident. Making a big deal out of it would be overreacting.
Even though that was the logical conclusion, Chu Ling felt an inexplicable tightness in her chest.
She didn’t want to dwell on it, so she tried her best to push the accidental kiss out of her mind.
“I’m fine, thanks,” she said, not daring to look at Song Qingyi’s reaction. Instead, she turned toward Qiu Shuang’s direction, her eyes burning with tiny flames of indignation as she carefully and resentfully, glided over.
Qiu Shuang had lost control and slid all the way to the bottom, knocking over several people along the way.
Thankfully, the beginner’s slope was full of inexperienced skiers, and the incline wasn’t steep, so no one got hurt.
But Chu Ling was still determined to give her a piece of her mind after all, Qiu Shuang was the one who had caused this whole mess!
By the time she shakily made her way over, Qiu Shuang was sprawled on the ground, laughing her head off.
Chu Ling poked her with a ski pole.
Still grinning, Qiu Shuang asked without a shred of remorse, “What’s up?”
Chu Ling was speechless. “What’s up?! You little brat, didn’t you say you knew how to ski?! You almost crashed into me earlier!”
Qiu Shuang burst into laughter again. “I saw everything! Big Sis Song tackled you pfft, you should be thanking me, you little brat!”
Chu Ling crouched down and flicked her forehead. “So this is what you call ‘knowing how to ski’?”
Just at that moment, Fang Manwen arrived shakily and, upon hearing Chu Ling’s words, sighed with a hint of sarcasm, “When she says she can ski, she means she took two lessons as a kid but has forgotten everything now.”
Qiu Shuang rubbed her forehead, not the least bit embarrassed. “But I really can ski! It’s just been too long since I last did it. I’m just getting back into the groove!”
Fang Manwen crossed her arms. “Judging by your performance, it doesn’t seem like you’re finding your groove very smoothly?”
Qiu Shuang seemed to recall her recent experience and couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “I think it’s going pretty well, hahaha!”
Chu Ling: “…”
She was almost at her wit’s end but couldn’t outright say that because of Qiu Shuang’s “groove-finding” antics, she and Song Qingyi had accidentally kissed!
How could she even bring that up? Chu Ling felt utterly mortified, there was no way she could say it out loud.
And she was certain that if she did, these two would never let her live it down. So it was better left unsaid.
Part of the reason she had come to confront Qiu Shuang was to escape the overwhelming awkwardness of staying in that spot any longer.
After such an unexpected incident, she simply couldn’t remain as composed as Song Qingyi and had no choice but to flee temporarily.
Though she was verbally chastising Qiu Shuang, Chu Ling’s peripheral vision unconsciously sought out Song Qingyi’s figure.
Then she noticed that Song Qingyi hadn’t followed them down but had instead turned and skied toward Ye Zhiyin and Qin Xinfang.
Chu Ling paused, withdrawing her gaze, unwilling to look any longer.
She felt a pang of disappointment, though it was hardly surprising.
This was just the natural progression of the plot, why should she care?
Distractedly lost in thought, Chu Ling didn’t immediately notice Qiu Shuang calling her name.
It wasn’t until she was poked that she snapped back to reality, blinking blankly at Qiu Shuang, who was now standing. “What’s up?”
Qiu Shuang gave her a once-over. “I should be asking you that. I called you twice, and you didn’t respond. What were you thinking about so deeply?”
Chu Ling shook her head. “Nothing, really. Just zoned out for a second. More importantly, are you okay?”
Qiu Shuang waved a hand dismissively. “Of course I’m fine. This is just the beginner’s slope, it’s not that steep, and the speed isn’t anything crazy. I just forgot how to brake.”
Chu Ling: “…And you still claim you can ski?”
Qiu Shuang grinned. “I really can! Don’t believe me? Just wait, I’ll show you a thing or two later!”
With that, Qiu Shuang pushed off with her ski poles but didn’t move.
After a brief pause, she added, “Oh right, we’re still at the bottom. Wait here, I’ll go back up and show you what I’ve got! Stinky Beibei, take some pictures of me!”
Chu Ling: “…?”
“Me? Take pictures? Sure, but are you sure? I don’t ski, so I can only manage the most basic shots.”
Qiu Shuang: “Fair enough. Then just stay here and get a front shot! Later, stand in the middle and grab a side angle!”
Chu Ling, now thoroughly assigned her role: “…Fine.”
It seemed her stint as the resort photographer wasn’t over yet.
But thanks to this, Chu Ling didn’t have the mental space to dwell on other things.
Climbing back up with skis on was tricky, so the three of them had to take them off and carry them, nearly getting knocked over by other skiers along the way.
Finally retrieving the camera, Chu Ling decided against putting her skis back on she wasn’t confident she could ski down without falling and potentially damaging the equipment.
She opted to walk down instead. Just as she was about to head down, Song Qingyi approached.
“Not skiing anymore?”
Chu Ling paused for a moment, then shook her head. “Later. Shuangshuang asked me to take a photo for her.”
As she spoke, Chu Ling thought for two seconds and glanced at the children. “Actually, I’ll go ask Hongmian and the others if they want photos too, since I have the camera with me now.”
Just as Chu Ling was about to leave, Song Qingyi grabbed her arm. Turning around, Chu Ling asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
Song Qingyi pressed her lips together and remained silent for a while before speaking slowly. “You fell earlier. You should check yourself first to see if you’re hurt anywhere.”
Chu Ling let out a short “ah,” then shook her head after a moment. “I don’t think so. I don’t feel any pain.”
Song Qingyi hummed in acknowledgment. “That’s good. But I think I hurt my hand. Could you help me apply some medicine?”
Chu Ling immediately tensed up. “You hurt your hand? Where? Let me see! Why didn’t you say anything earlier?”
Song Qingyi calmly extended her hand, turning her wrist to reveal a shocking abrasion. The wound was large, with beads of blood still seeping out, and it looked quite serious.
Chu Ling gasped. “How did you get such a big scrape?!”
Then, recalling the earlier scene, she hesitated, wanting to ask but swallowing her words.
Asking would make it seem like… she was always paying attention to Song Qingyi.
The thought made Chu Ling too embarrassed to voice her question.
Now, photos were the last thing on her mind. Chu Ling glanced around and spotted Fang Manwen. She quickly told Song Qingyi to wait and hurried over.
She called out to Fang Manwen and handed her the camera.
Chu Ling didn’t even realize how urgent her tone sounded.
“Miss Fang, could you take care of the photos for now? Song Qingyi scraped her hand, and I need to help her treat it.”
Fang Manwen raised an eyebrow in surprise. “She scraped her hand? I thought she knew how to ski. Did she fall?”
Chu Ling coughed awkwardly. “Well! Shuangshuang lost control earlier and almost crashed into me. Song Qingyi pushed me out of the way she must’ve gotten hurt then.”
Fang Manwen’s gaze shifted to the figure standing quietly in the distance, flickering between the two of them before nodding. “I see. Alright, go take care of her. Let me know if it’s serious.”
Chu Ling waved her off. “It’s fine, you all go ahead. It doesn’t look too bad.”
Despite her words, Fang Manwen could clearly see the tension on Chu Ling’s face.
Meanwhile, Song Qingyi stood there calmly, composed as ever, as if she wasn’t the one injured.
Fang Manwen’s brow lifted slightly.
Song Qingyi noticed but didn’t react, meeting her gaze with indifference.
Fang Manwen let out a quiet laugh, took the camera, and walked away.
Once she’d settled the matter, Chu Ling turned back and saw Song Qingyi obediently waiting where she’d left her.
Though Song Qingyi still looked as aloof as ever, Chu Ling couldn’t help but feel she seemed pitiful probably the effect of the injury which only softened her heart further.
Ah, her hands are so pretty. How could she not say anything about such a big scrape? If it’s not treated in time and leaves a scar…
That would be heartbreaking!
Nervously, Chu Ling took Song Qingyi’s arm and led her to the visitor center.
After explaining the situation, a staff member guided them to a lounge and retrieved the first-aid kit.
The first aid kit was stocked with some common medications, fairly comprehensive alcohol, gauze, and other supplies were all there.
However, Song Qingyi’s abrasion didn’t look easy to handle. There was dirt around the wound, along with melted snow.
Just looking at it made Chu Ling’s heart clench.
But if it wasn’t cleaned properly, bacteria could easily invade, making things worse later.
So she said carefully, “Bear with it, this might hurt a little.”
Song Qingyi responded with a soft “Mm.”
If Chu Ling had looked up at that moment, she would have noticed that Song Qingyi’s expression was indifferent her attention wasn’t on the wound but rather fixed on Chu Ling herself.
Seeing Chu Ling tense up over such a minor injury filled Song Qingyi with satisfaction.
Originally, she hadn’t even noticed the wound on her hand, still lost in thoughts about that accidental kiss earlier.
Though it was just an accident, Song Qingyi couldn’t help feeling a little happy about it.
It really shouldn’t have happened such accidents often carried risks, and it would’ve been better if it hadn’t occurred.
But as the beneficiary, Song Qingyi couldn’t hide the excitement in her heart.
Just then, Chu Ling went to find Qiu Shuang, and Song Qingyi slowly exhaled, trying to adjust her unusual state of mind.
But when she raised her hand, she noticed beads of blood seeping from her wrist.
It must have been scraped when she tackled Chu Ling earlier.
The thought flashed through her mind, but she didn’t pay it much attention, figuring she could just ask Ye Zhiyin if she had any emergency supplies to deal with it.
When Ye Zhiyin heard her request, she was exasperated. “I’m not trying to lecture you, Qingyi, but go to Chu Ling! You got hurt protecting her this is the perfect opportunity.
Play it up a little, let her tend to your wound, and deepen your connection. What’s wrong with you? Did you hit your head when you fell?”
Song Qingyi replied slowly, “If she sees it, she’ll feel guilty. It’s just a small wound, I can handle it myself.”
Ye Zhiyin fell silent for a moment before her sharp peripheral vision caught someone’s gaze. When she turned, she saw Chu Ling quickly look away.
“I get what you’re thinking, but just try it. Trust me, go to Chu Ling.”
Her expression was meaningful.
Song Qingyi hadn’t planned to go, she thought she could manage the wound herself.
Besides, if Chu Ling found out, she’d definitely feel guilty.
Song Qingyi didn’t want that.
But Ye Zhiyin’s tone was so certain that Song Qingyi wavered.
The thought of Chu Ling worrying over her made her heart skip a beat.
She was still hesitating when she noticed Chu Ling pick up her camera, likely intending to take photos for everyone.
