After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 40.2
Chu Ling and Qiu Shuang’s eyes lit up, and the children squealed with excitement as they ran over.
“Ahhh! A whole roasted lamb! It smells so good!”
The three of them gathered around the whole roasted lamb, sitting on small stools in a row, their mouths nearly watering as they stared at the sizzling, oil-dripping lamb that hadn’t yet been brushed with various seasonings.
Chu Ling and Qiu Shuang, seeing this, couldn’t maintain their composure any longer. They blended seamlessly into the group of children at a glance, it looked like five kids sitting together.
Song Qingyi and the other three didn’t join the crowd. Instead, they sat on chairs to the side, sampling the local specialty drinks.
The drinks were indeed unique, but Song Qingyi took one sip and didn’t touch hers again.
Qin Xinhua didn’t even try hers.
Only Ye Zhiyin and Fang Manwen found them tasty.
Once the lamb was fully roasted, everyone dug in while enjoying the specialty liquor generously provided by Meiduo.
Though the liquor had a hint of alcohol, it was very mild more like a beverage than actual liquor.
Still, no matter how mild, it was still alcohol, so the kids could only watch longingly and drink milk instead freshly squeezed by them earlier. Meiduo had specially processed it so the children could enjoy the fruits of their labor.
The crackling of the bonfire echoed intermittently, and the cool night breeze was perfectly offset by the warmth of the flames.
Everyone chatted and laughed around the fire, while not far away, Meiduo played lively music.
All the staff joined in, dancing around the bonfire.
As guests, the group was pulled into the crowd by Meiduo.
Smiles adorned everyone’s faces as they moved to the music, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere.
Chu Ling didn’t know how to dance, but that didn’t stop her from swaying randomly though it looked more like she was just learning to control her limbs.
Glancing at Song Qingyi beside her, even her casual movements exuded effortless grace.
Chu Ling’s gaze was drawn to her, so much so that she nearly forgot to move her feet.
Perhaps it was the bonfire’s heat, but her ears felt scorching hot…
She rubbed them, trying to ignore the unusual pounding of her heart.
Even as the gathering came to an end, the festive atmosphere lingered.
The grassland trip had passed far too quickly, Chu Ling mused unconsciously.
“If you liked it, we can come back another time,” Song Qingyi suddenly said.
Chu Ling froze, instantly recalling the love-themed hotel room. Her wistful expression immediately turned serious.
“Whether we come back or not is another matter first, let’s go back and settle the hotel issue!”
Song Qingyi: “…”
Sometimes, she really wanted to seal Chu Ling’s mouth shut.
Rushing back to the hotel in a hurry, Chu Ling went straight to the front desk to inquire about changing rooms.
The receptionist wasn’t the same one from the night before, and she asked for a reason. Without thinking, Chu Ling blurted out that the bed seemed broken.
The receptionist’s expression instantly turned peculiar, her eyes flickering between the two of them.
Only then did Chu Ling realize that her excuse was far from clever, it was downright suggestive.
Under the receptionist’s odd gaze, Chu Ling stiffened, almost wanting to turn and flee.
What kind of terrible excuse was that? Had she really come up with it?
Her mind blank, she tried to recall why she’d even said that.
Oh… right. The image of the bed suddenly shaking last night had flashed through her mind. When the receptionist asked, her brain had scrambled for a reason, and “the bed’s broken” had slipped out.
To make things worse, as they were changing rooms, Ye Zhiyin suddenly appeared. Spotting them, she walked over with a puzzled look.
“What are you two doing here? Is something wrong with the room?”
Chu Ling stiffened, unsure how to respond.
Song Qingyi glanced at her before answering leisurely, “Mm, there was a bit of an issue with the bed.”
This was the excuse Chu Ling came up with, not what she had said.
Chu Ling was already contemplating whether she should find a hole to crawl into.
Because she could feel Ye Zhiyin’s meaningful gaze.
“Oh, so that’s how it is. No big deal, changing rooms is fine too.”
Chu Ling’s pupils trembled violently, why did it sound like the implication was, “Let’s switch to another identical one!”
That absolutely wouldn’t do!
Chu Ling’s mind raced, but she couldn’t come up with a good reason. Fortunately, the front desk informed them that only standard rooms and suites were available now.
Chu Ling suddenly breathed a sigh of relief and was about to say a standard room would be fine, but Song Qingyi spoke first and chose the suite.
Chu Ling paused, then nodded in understanding.
She had been thinking based on her own spending habits and had forgotten that Song Qingyi… was different from her.
At least the outcome was good, they successfully changed rooms. The only catch was the strange smile Ye Zhiyin gave them.
Chu Ling knew she had misunderstood. She stole a glance at Song Qingyi’s expression but couldn’t decipher anything.
Song Qingyi didn’t seem the least bit anxious. Wasn’t she afraid Ye Zhiyin would misunderstand?
Chu Ling had originally planned to explain, but since Song Qingyi didn’t say anything, she swallowed her words.
Song Qingyi had her own rhythm. Maybe she planned to explain to Ye Zhiyin privately later? And besides…
Earlier, Chu Ling had considered trying to alter Song Qingyi’s storyline. If a misunderstanding arose between them, wouldn’t that be the perfect opportunity to change the plot?
Though she did feel a little guilty toward Ye Zhiyin.
Chu Ling hesitated for a moment but quickly convinced herself.
Well, the heart has its biases!
Even though her relationship with the female lead was decent, Chu Ling still leaned more toward Song Qingyi in her heart.
Thinking this way, she kept her words to herself, but she couldn’t shake the guilt toward Ye Zhiyin.
As a result, when the group headed to the ski resort the next day, Song Qingyi quickly noticed something was off, Chu Ling’s attitude toward Ye Zhiyin seemed different.
Specifically, she kept glancing at Ye Zhiyin from time to time, her eyes filled with something akin to guilt.
Why?
What was she feeling guilty about?
Song Qingyi narrowed her eyes slightly, trying to recall when the two had interacted in a way she didn’t know about.
But after racking her brain, she still couldn’t think of any hidden exchanges between them.
They had basically been together all day… Well, except for when Chu Ling disappeared briefly to use the restroom.
Yet even after careful consideration, Song Qingyi still found nothing unusual.
Thus, the situation became: Chu Ling kept sneaking guilty glances at Ye Zhiyin.
Song Qingyi kept glancing at Chu Ling, then at Ye Zhiyin, her gaze dark and inscrutable.
The silent battle of glances among the three was noticed by Qiu Shuang, but after looking back and forth a few times without understanding what was happening, she chose to observe quietly.
However, the group soon had more pressing matters to focus on.
The ski resort was located on a snowy mountain, so they had to take a cable car up.
Perhaps because of this mountain, the city was noticeably colder than others. Especially at the foot of the mountain, Chu Ling truly felt the bite of winter.
Fortunately, everyone had dressed in thick windbreakers, bundled up tightly. The cold was effectively kept at bay, and apart from her exposed face, Chu Ling didn’t feel too chilly.
Looking down from the cable car, all she could see was a blanket of white mist today, the mountain was shrouded in heavy fog.
The mountains were shrouded in white mist, making it hard to see the scenery below. The higher they went, the thicker the fog became.
“What heavy fog.”
“And it’s so cold!”
“Ah! I can see snow down below, the trees are completely covered.”
“The mountains are high, so snowfall is normal here. Otherwise, why would we come skiing?”
“Yeah, that’s true. It’s just a bit cold.”
The kids chattered away as the cable car moved steadily upward, soon coming to a stop.
“We’re here. Everyone, watch your step.”
The guide, specially hired by Ye Zhiyin, spoke up. Though they weren’t climbing a snow-capped peak, having a guide made things much easier.
The group stepped out of the cable car and followed the guide further in.
Only after landing did Chu Ling realize the entire mountain was blanketed in snow, a vast expanse of white as far as the eye could see. Every step they took crunched underfoot.
The sound of snow crunching was oddly pleasant. Chu Ling walked carefully, listening intently, a faint smile lingering on her lips.
Song Qingyi stayed close by, silently watching her, ready to catch her if she slipped.
Sure enough, Chu Ling lost her footing when she stepped on a patch of hardened snow, wobbling unsteadily.
Song Qingyi steadied her just in time. “Be careful.”
Her voice was muffled, likely because her face was covered.
Chu Ling quickly regained her balance and wanted to say thank you, but under Song Qingyi’s gaze, she swallowed the words.
Alright, being too polite didn’t seem right either.
So instead, she thanked Song Qingyi in her heart, pretending the other girl could hear it.
After arriving at the visitor center, everyone changed into their gear as instructed. Then, like toddlers learning to walk, they were carefully led to the beginner’s ski slope.
When asked if they could ski, Qiu Shuang and Song Qingyi both said they could. So Ye Zhiyin arranged for three instructors, one for herself and Qin Xinran, and two for the kids.
As for Chu Ling and Fang Manwen, they had their own teachers.
Chu Ling didn’t overthink it and focused seriously on learning from Song Qingyi.
At first, things went smoothly. Though nervous, Chu Ling managed to slide a short distance.
Then…
Somehow, Qiu Shuang came barreling toward them at breakneck speed, shouting for them to move aside.
Chu Ling’s pupils shrank, she had no time to react before she tumbled, stars bursting before her eyes.
When she came to, she realized Song Qingyi had tackled her, and they’d both fallen to the side.
But why was Song Qingyi so close?
Wait… something soft was pressed against her lips, what was that?
!!!
How had she ended up kissing Song Qingyi?!
