After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 36.2
Song Qingyi took the files and casually placed them on the table.
With a calm expression, she asked, “Have you had lunch yet?”
Chu Ling shook her head honestly. “Not yet. I was planning to drop these off for you first and then eat when I got back.”
Song Qingyi nodded. “Mm. Let’s eat together then. Wait for me a moment.”
Chu Ling actually wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, she could just eat at home but Song Qingyi didn’t seem to give her the chance. After speaking, she turned and left without waiting for a response.
She never listens to what others have to say.
Chu Ling opened her mouth slightly, her gaze lingering as she watched Song Qingyi stride briskly out of sight.
She swallowed her words silently.
To be honest, it was almost lunchtime, and with Ye Zhiyin and Qin Xinyan arriving now, Song Qingyi would undoubtedly have to entertain them.
Chu Ling wasn’t particularly keen on sitting at the same table as the female lead and the antagonist. Just imagining the scene made her feel like she’d lose her appetite.
Was this really a situation where they could all sit together? What had she done to deserve this?!
The mere thought of it made Chu Ling tense up.
This is going to be a disaster.
Meanwhile, Song Qingyi had deliberately walked away quickly. Otherwise, she was certain Chu Ling would have refused.
Song Qingyi didn’t want to let the person she’d finally managed to see slip away so easily.
So, she had no choice but to use this method to keep her around a little longer.
By the time Song Qingyi reached the reception room, Ye Zhiyin and Qin Xinyan were already drinking tea.
Ye Zhiyin, who had brewed the tea, had unceremoniously used Song Qingyi’s prized tea leaves, gulping it down like water.
Song Qingyi was mildly exasperated. “You certainly don’t hold back, do you?”
Ye Zhiyin grinned cheekily. “Hey! Only the tea at your place tastes this good.”
As she spoke, she refilled Qin Xinyan’s cup first, then took out a new one and poured tea for Song Qingyi as well, acting as if she were the host here.
Song Qingyi’s tone was cool. “Miss Ye, why don’t you just come work at Song Corporation? You’ve got quite the sense of ownership.”
Ye Zhiyin raised an eyebrow. “Quit teasing me. Are you in a bad mood? Who pissed you off?”
Song Qingyi gave her a long, silent look.
Ye Zhiyin paused mid-motion and pointed at herself. “Me? No way, sis. Did I offend you? I just got here, when could I have possibly upset you? Don’t go throwing accusations around! My back isn’t strong enough to carry such a heavy blame.”
Qin Xinyan shot her a dark glance, which Ye Zhiyin completely missed.
Shocked by Song Qingyi’s sudden remark, Ye Zhiyin set her tea aside and stared at her, waiting for an explanation.
But Song Qingyi merely glanced at her before looking away, saying nothing.
Ye Zhiyin: “…”
Seriously? What kind of words can’t be spoken outright?
Ye Zhiyin wanted to hash it out with Song Qingyi, but the latter had already taken a seat, her expression serious, adopting a businesslike demeanor as she prepared to discuss matters.
“It’s almost lunchtime. Let’s wrap this up quickly, no point wasting time.”
Ye Zhiyin swallowed her words again.
The frustration of being left hanging was unbearable.
Yet neither Qin Xinyan nor Song Qingyi seemed the least bit affected, calmly diving into negotiations over the details.
This collaboration had indeed been initiated by Ye Zhiyin. They had discussed it once before, and today’s meeting was to finalize the specifics.
Since it was a mutually beneficial partnership, Song Qingyi had no reason to refuse.
She just hadn’t expected that the person Ye Zhiyin was so infatuated with would look like this.
Qin Xinran exuded an icy aura from head to toe, as if she were a spirit born of snow and frost.
And yet, Ye Zhiyin actually liked her.
Song Qingyi mentally reviewed what she knew about Qin Xinran.
This woman was indeed ruthless, with plenty of tricks up her sleeve. To seize control of the Qin Corporation from a pack of wolves and tigers and develop it to this extent luck alone couldn’t have done it.
If not for Ye Zhiyin, she and Qin Xinran probably wouldn’t have had any reason to collaborate, as neither of them fell within the other’s usual scope of cooperation.
Perhaps it was a natural clash of temperaments. Song Qingyi felt that Qin Xinran was somewhat similar to her which might also explain why they repelled each other.
But now that they had decided to cooperate for the sake of enormous profits, that slight aversion could be overlooked.
Song Qingyi admired capable people, but as for forming a deep friendship with Qin Xinran… that was unnecessary.
They just didn’t click.
Clearly, Qin Xinran felt the same way.
Song Qingyi saw the same sentiment reflected in her eyes.
“Since we’ve finished discussing business, the next step is just going through the formalities. I won’t take up any more of President Qin’s time.”
Song Qingyi’s words were unmistakably a dismissal.
But Ye Zhiyin exclaimed in surprise, “Huh? It’s already noon, aren’t we even worthy of an invitation to lunch from you? Aren’t we supposed to be friendly partners now?”
Song Qingyi’s eyes flickered slightly, but she said nothing. After all, she really didn’t want to have a meal with these two.
Yet a mischievous glint flashed in Ye Zhiyin’s eyes as she suddenly said, “Oh, I get it. You want to have lunch alone with Miss Chu, don’t you? Fine, fine, President Qin and I really shouldn’t intrude on that.”
Hearing this, Song Qingyi was somewhat taken aback.
Ye Zhiyin didn’t seem like the type to back down so easily, but since she wasn’t insisting, Song Qingyi didn’t press the matter further.
It was already half past twelve, Chu Ling must be hungry.
Before the meeting, Song Qingyi had already instructed the cafeteria kitchen to prepare a meal. By now, it should be ready.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to take Chu Ling out to eat, but that would be too deliberate. She and Chu Ling were far from the stage where they’d go out of their way to have a private meal together, so the cafeteria would have to do.
Still, given the Song Corporation’s deep pockets, even the cafeteria was designed like a high-end restaurant, complete with private dining rooms for hosting business partners.
When Chu Ling followed Song Qingyi to the cafeteria, her eyes were filled with admiration for Song Qingyi’s wealth.
It was her first real glimpse of what it meant to be extravagantly rich.
Chu Ling had initially assumed Song Qingyi would be having lunch with Ye Zhiyin and the others, but to her surprise, the two were nowhere in sight.
After a moment’s hesitation, she asked, “Miss Ye… didn’t stay for lunch?”
Song Qingyi’s steps faltered slightly, her tone low. “Do you want to eat with her?”
Chu Ling shook her head. “No, that’s fine.”
So, they weren’t eating together after all.
