After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 36.1
Even after sitting down in Song Qingyi’s office, Chu Ling remained dazed, unable to snap out of it.
Her mind was still replaying everything that had just happened as she absentmindedly followed the secretary into Song Qingyi’s office.
After ushering her in, the secretary stepped out briefly, returning shortly with a cup of tea.
“Miss Chu, please enjoy your tea. President Song should be here in about fifteen minutes. Please wait a moment.”
The secretary’s words pulled Chu Ling back to reality. She quickly nodded and said, “Thank you. I understand. You can go ahead with your work, no need to worry about me.”
The secretary nodded and left, closing the door behind her. But before the door shut completely, she stole a discreet glance at Chu Ling.
Thank goodness this young lady was kind and didn’t hold it against her.
Earlier, when the secretary realized her mistake, her heart had truly skipped a beat.
After all, it was rare for the boss to personally request someone to be taken care of. This young lady must have significant connections.
The secretary knew that people of such stature often had their own temperaments, and the oversight had been entirely her fault. If this young lady had chosen to make an issue out of it, even if she kept her job, she’d likely face some form of punishment.
But to her surprise, the young lady was very easygoing and showed no intention of making things difficult.
The secretary couldn’t help but sigh in relief. Bringing the tea herself was both a gesture of goodwill and gratitude.
Besides, she wouldn’t have trusted anyone else with this task, what if some clueless person offended the guest again?
She didn’t even want to imagine how disastrous that could be.
However, Chu Ling truly hadn’t given it much thought. She was still reeling from the fact that she now had the female lead’s contact saved in her phone.
This development was something she hadn’t anticipated at all.
According to the original plot, she was supposed to ask for the female lead’s WeChat, only to be publicly rejected.
Humiliated by the rejection, the original character harbored resentment. While it wouldn’t have escalated to the point of drugging under normal circumstances, the plot was merciless.
Later, a series of events between them caused the original character’s feelings toward the female lead to twist, leading her to commit a string of irrational mistakes and ultimately meet a tragic end.
But now, she hadn’t followed the script, she hadn’t asked to add the female lead as a contact.
She’d avoided taking the initiative, only to be caught off guard by the female lead’s unexpected move.
How had she ended up being the one whose contact was requested instead?
Was this right?
Was this even logical?!
Was the plot, correcting itself? But wasn’t this correction veering way off course?!
Lost in her spiraling thoughts, Chu Ling didn’t even notice the passage of time.
Meanwhile, Song Qingyi had just wrapped up her meeting.
As soon as the meeting adjourned, she stepped out to find her secretary waiting outside, as if she’d been there for a while.
The secretary exhaled in relief and quickly approached to report, “President Song, President Qin and Miss Ye have arrived and are waiting for you in the reception room.”
Song Qingyi nodded, her expression calm, though she seemed somewhat disinterested.
The secretary didn’t dwell on it and added, “Also, the young lady you mentioned before the meeting has arrived. I’ve already taken her to your office to wait.”
Song Qingyi paused mid-step, her eyes suddenly lighting up. Her initial intention to head to the reception room instantly changed.
“Go inform Miss Ye that I’ll join her shortly.”
The secretary was slightly taken aback, it seemed the boss was planning to return to her office first.
So once again, she mentally elevated Miss Chu’s status a notch higher, while feeling relieved that the other party hadn’t taken offense.
Yet, curiosity uncontrollably bubbled up.
They had always known that President Song was close to Miss Ye rumored to be longtime friends, with Miss Ye visiting frequently so they were used to it.
This was the first time someone had actually taken precedence over Miss Ye.
So Miss Chu was the one with the highest priority.
This was no small matter!
The secretary, with her keen nose for gossip, immediately sensed something.
But she was too timid to reveal even a hint, merely nodding and saying, “Understood, I’ll go inform her right away.”
Song Qingyi nodded, her thoughts already completely elsewhere.
It had been four days and eleven hours since she last saw Chu Ling.
Song Qingyi quietly reflected.
Fang Manwen had said they needed to put some distance between them, and she had complied but every minute and second was agony.
Enduring until today was already her limit.
Technically, she could have left work early in the afternoon to see her, but she couldn’t wait a single moment longer, she just wanted to see Chu Ling immediately.
Then Song Qingyi suddenly remembered there was a document she had taken back to her room earlier.
And so, she had a reason to meet.
Using the excuse that the document was important, she had asked Chu Ling to bring it over.
And now, Chu Ling was in her office.
Just the thought of her being in her territory made Song Qingyi’s heart warm slightly.
Even though she had secretly peeked at her at night, it still wasn’t enough.
Quickening her steps, Song Qingyi hurried back to her office at top speed.
Pushing the door open, she saw Chu Ling.
But before she could even feel happy, she noticed that Chu Ling seemed lost in thought, her face full of conflict so much so that she hadn’t even noticed someone entering.
Song Qingyi had never seen her so distracted before. She softened her footsteps as she approached, but Chu Ling still didn’t react.
Looking closer, Chu Ling was staring blankly at her lit phone screen.
Song Qingyi’s gaze shifted downward, landing on a familiar profile picture and name. Her happy expression stiffened slightly.
Why did Chu Ling have Ye Zhiyin as a contact? When had they added each other? Was this dazed look because she had seen Ye Zhiyin?
Or was it because she had noticed someone by Ye Zhiyin’s side, and that was why she looked like this?
Song Qingyi abruptly clenched her fist, not daring to think further.
She kept telling herself that the two of them shouldn’t have any connection, if they did, it could only be because of her.
But ever since she noticed Chu Ling’s unusual attitude toward Ye Zhiyin last time, Song Qingyi wasn’t so sure anymore.
Perhaps Chu Ling had met Ye Zhiyin without her knowing.
That kind of reaction, no one would believe she didn’t know Ye Zhiyin.
But she had to rein in her wild thoughts. She had already angered Chu Ling once before, and it had only been a few days. If Chu Ling got mad at her again.
Song Qingyi didn’t want to gamble, so she forcibly suppressed the discomfort in her heart.
“Chu Ling.”
She deliberately raised her voice, snapping the oblivious Chu Ling back to reality.
Chu Ling was indeed startled by the sudden sound. Seeing Song Qingyi suddenly beside her, her eyes widened in shock. “When did you get here? How did I not notice at all?!”
Song Qingyi’s expression was indescribable, somewhere between anger, restraint, dissatisfaction, and suppressed emotions.
It was utterly complicated.
Chu Ling was taken aback for a moment. “Wh-what’s wrong?”
Song Qingyi shook her head slowly. “Nothing.”
Chu Ling scratched her cheek. “Alright, well, here are the documents you asked for. I brought them for you.”
