- After the Strategy Failed, the Heroine Turned into a Crematorium
- Chapter 14 - Yu Fanyun
An Omega marked by an Alpha would experience even greater torment without their Alpha’s comfort compared to those who are unmarked.
Of course, correspondingly, if they had their Alpha’s soothing presence, the suffering during their heat would be significantly alleviated.
But Qi Zhi’e wasn’t entirely sure what her situation would be like during her heat, given that she had marked an Alpha.
After all, there were too few cases of Omegas successfully marking Alphas, and each Omega exhibited slightly different symptoms. Qi Zhi’e had no idea what hers might be.
As she pondered this, she didn’t feel the slightest bit of relaxation instead, her nerves grew even more tense, to the point of a faint headache.
Since she had chosen to pull Bian You back the moment she was reborn, she had already stopped caring about which Alpha she ended up with. But that didn’t mean she could now drag Bian You into helping her through her heat.
The reason was simple: Bian You had just declared her intention to pursue her, and she had agreed to let her do so.
If, during this pursuit, she were to hastily engage in such an intimate relationship with Bian You, the nature of the pursuit would change. It would then become much harder to leverage Bian You’s pursuit to her own advantage.
Some might argue that once they were together, Bian You would be even more willing to help her. But Qi Zhi’e harbored deep skepticism about that.
The inherent flaw of most Alphas was that once they obtained something, they no longer cherished it. If Bian You got her too easily, how could she expect her to remain obedient in the future?
Her fingers tapped lightly against the glazed edge of the bathtub as Qi Zhi’e took a slow, deep breath.
At least for now, she would have to rely on herself to endure this heat.
Feeling the relative stability of her glands for the moment, Qi Zhi’e closed her eyes and let her thoughts wander.
She wished she could be like Bian You free from the wretched influence of pheromones.
Without pheromones, there would naturally be no heat to endure.
In this regard, even though many considered Bian You an incomplete Alpha, Qi Zhi’e had envied her for a long time.
The next morning, as Bian You descended the stairs, she was met with an unexpected sight in the hall, a woman she hadn’t anticipated seeing.
The Omega mother of the original host, Yu Fanyun.
Bian You studied the woman before her, who appeared to be in her early thirties, exuding the allure of a mature woman. Her delicate, beautiful face was expressionless, showing no particular emotion even when facing her own “biological daughter.”
“Mom, why are you back?” Bian You asked hesitantly. The original host’s Omega mother rarely returned here so rarely that they barely saw each other a handful of times a year. In her heart, this household held no significance.
Yu Fanyun lifted her gaze to her daughter. The person she remembered as somewhat youthful had now grown into a striking and sophisticated figure. With a face that combined the best features of both her and Bian Lian, she was a dazzling presence wherever she went.
But Yu Fanyun didn’t particularly like that face because it bore not only traces of herself but also the likeness of Bian Lian, whom she despised.
This child was a stain forced upon her by her family, a living testament to her past weakness!
“I heard you were marked by an Omega?” Yu Fanyun spoke calmly, her tone devoid of any discernible emotion, as if she’d made this special trip back just to ask this routine question.
“Yes, that’s right.” Bian You sat down on the sofa beside her, completely unfazed in the face of the original host’s mother.
She didn’t have to worry about Yu Fanyun realizing she wasn’t the original host.
Because Yu Fanyun had never paid much attention to the original host in the first place, she had no idea what kind of person her own daughter had been.
Faced with her daughter’s indifferent attitude, Yu Fanyun didn’t react at all and simply continued, “Was it Qi Zhi’e?”
There had been mentions online that Qi Zhi’e was the one who marked Bian You, but no one had confirmed it outright yet.
“Yes,” Bian You replied.
“She’s not the right match for you,” Yu Fanyun stated bluntly.
Hearing this, Bian You couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh? And you know that for sure? Do you even understand her?”
Yu Fanyun frowned at her dismissive tone. “Others might not know, but you should be well aware of the situation with the Qi family. That second son of theirs is nothing but a petty schemer with no real substance. The Qi Group will eventually be ruined under his leadership.”
With the eldest Qi sibling uninvolved in management and the second son being the way he was, the fate of the Qi Group was already predictable.
“But if the Qi Group were handed over to Qi Zhi’e, I think it would be a completely different story,” Bian You said with a smile.
Yet the corners of Yu Fanyun’s lips curled into a mocking smirk, her gaze at Bian You practically screaming how naive.
“Do you really think the Qi family is as simple as it appears on the surface? Qi Zhi’e has been in the group for three years now, hasn’t she? If they truly intended to hand the company over to her, why is Qi Youqun still the one calling the shots?”
Bian You frowned, wanting to know what she meant by that, but Yu Fanyun refused to elaborate further. Instead, she shifted the topic to Qi Zhi’e herself.
“There’s no denying Qi Zhi’e is capable. But the more capable she is, the less likely the two of you will work out.”
“As the saying goes, two tigers cannot share one mountain. Someone like her would never prioritize family the way a typical Omega would. How do you plan to balance your relationship with her then?”
Both of them had their own careers, and over time, conflicts of interest were inevitable. In Yu Fanyun’s eyes, Qi Zhi’e’s cunning and methods far surpassed Bian You’s so in the long run, the only one who would suffer was Bian You.
Though she wasn’t particularly fond of this child of hers, she was still the one who had given birth to her. When it came to major life decisions like this, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
Hearing Yu Fanyun’s words, Bian You merely chuckled softly. “There’s no need for you to worry about that. These are all hypotheticals that haven’t even happened yet. You expect me to give up on Qi Zhi’e based on assumptions? That’s not happening.”
Bian You’s smile was unguarded. She didn’t know how others loved someone, but when she loved someone, she was willing to give them her utmost trust.
She believed she and Qi Zhi’e could handle these issues just fine.
“You!” Anger flashed across Yu Fanyun’s face, but seeing Bian You’s unbothered expression, she was so infuriated she actually laughed.
“Fine, no need for my concern. Today I was being overly sentimental. From now on, I won’t ask another word about your affairs!”
With that, she stood up and left, not even bothering to stay for breakfast.
Watching her angry retreating figure, Bian You found herself wondering, what attitude had the original host taken with her in the past?
But she quickly snapped out of it, shaking her head with a bitter smile.
What was the point of thinking about that now? The original host was gone, and the past was over.
She got up and headed to the dining room, where the servants had already prepared breakfast. Bian You sat at the massive dining table, the food in front of her occupying only a small corner, making the whole scene feel desolate and cold.
Glancing around, she considered whether she should move out.
Truthfully, Bian You wasn’t particularly fond of overly large houses especially one this big and empty, where a game of hide-and-seek would be impossible to win.
She didn’t understand why the original host had stubbornly stayed here, given that it was quite a distance from the Bian Corporation, making the commute inconvenient.
Once at the office, Bian You asked Assistant Zhou to help her look for properties somewhere with good layout, natural lighting, and a quiet environment as she planned to buy her own place and move out.
Assistant Zhou immediately got to work, and within two days, she mysteriously approached Bian You with a brochure, grinning. “Boss Bian, I’ve got some good news. Want to hear it?”
Bian You: “…Go on.”
Assistant Zhou’s eyes crinkled with delight, as if she could already see her bonus within reach. She eagerly flipped open the brochure and said, “Here, Lakeside Serenity, a high-end residential area. Peaceful environment, top-notch security, and that’s not even the best part.”
“The best part is President Qi lives there!”
