- After the Straight Male Incubus Became a Heartthrob
- Chapter 2 - "As If I Would Ever Be Desperate Enough to Kiss You"
Liang Wenle truly never expected to be pestered by such an idiot. No matter where he went, this fool followed him. Just as he was about to enter the private booth, Liang Wenle spun around and shoved Ye Lin back with great force.
“How long are you going to keep following me? I have already told you that I have zero interest in people like you!”
“Do not worry, I do not like men. However, I really need to stay near you, so please just let me follow you for a little while.”
Ye Lin desperately wanted money. He owed a massive debt of one million yuan and knew he had to cling tightly to this high-quality man in front of him to pay it off. Frowning, Liang Wenle poked Ye Lin’s chest irritably.
“Believe it or not, if you keep this up, I will break your legs!”
Ye Lin shook his head and replied, “No, you will not. I know you do not hit people easily.”
Having left the restroom, he finally remembered that in the original novel, Liang Wenle was the only son of the Liang family. He had grown up pampered like a prince, surrounded by love and wealth. Though he had a bad temper, he was a lovable idiot who was easily coaxed, eventually becoming a willing lackey for the protagonist. However, Ye Lin did not recall the original text mentioning Liang Wenle liking Shen Shao. He wondered if this was a newly added setting.
Liang Wenle let out a dry laugh. “Then come over here and see if I do not give you two slaps.”
Ye Lin obediently walked over and even patted Liang Wenle’s shoulder, offering some well-meaning advice. “Let me tell you, liking someone who hates you never ends well. I suggest you stop liking a foul-mouthed bastard like Shen Shao and go find a kind-hearted girl instead.”
Liang Wenle had been about to swing at him, but hearing this stopped him. He thought about how everyone had coddled him since childhood and that only Shen Shao dared to defy him.
“What do you know? I have chased him for over ten years. Nothing has ever made me feel this frustrated, so I must win him over!”
Ye Lin rolled his eyes helplessly, cursing Liang Wenle in his mind for being foolish. If he did not like women and insisted on liking a jerk like Shen Shao, he really needed some traditional medicine to clear his head. But for the sake of money, he had to say what the other wanted to hear.
“Actually, Shen Shao is just stubborn. He likes you but does not realize it yet, which is why he keeps rejecting you. You need to find a way to force him to admit his feelings.”
Liang Wenle loved being validated. Instantly mollified, he asked hurriedly, “I think he likes me too! Do you have a way to force him to admit it?”
Ye Lin, of course, had no plan, but he could make one up on the spot. “Let us talk inside the booth. It is hard to speak out here in the hallway.”
His anger mostly gone, Liang Wenle led him into the private room. The booth was enormous and filled with beautiful women and handsome men. Someone was singing, and the air was thick with various perfumes. Several rich heirs, all friends of Liang Wenle, sat on the sofas dressed in expensive attire.
Ye Lin scanned the room and noticed only one truly handsome man sitting in the southeast corner. The man had sharp features, a high brow bone, deep-set eyes, and a well-defined facial structure. He was a classic heartthrob. His looks were so striking that they made his grey athletic jacket look like high-end luxury straight off a runway.
To be Liang Wenle’s friend, he must be rich, and since he is handsome, he is definitely a high-quality male, Ye Lin thought as his eyes met the man’s.
The man opened a bottle of alcohol with one hand and looked at Liang Wenle. “Wenle, why did you bring him here?”
Liang Wenle sat down and patted the empty spot next to him, signaling Ye Lin to sit. “I ran into him outside. Everyone was getting bored drinking anyway, so I brought him in for some entertainment.”
The man scoffed and took a few swigs of his drink. Ye Lin looked at him and whispered to Liang Wenle, “Who is he?”
Liang Wenle gave him a strange look and took a sip of his drink. “Gu Jiazhi. Are you pretending not to know him?”
Gu Jiazhi had only been mentioned once in the original novel. He was from the Gu family and was wealthy, but he was likely just a minor character.
Ye Lin stopped looking at him and observed the others. The rest were average-looking and were laughing while holding partners in their arms. Only Gu Jiazhi and Liang Wenle were sitting alone, seemingly above such games.
Liang Wenle lowered his voice and urged, “What was that plan you mentioned? If it works, I will give you money. You look pathetic and broke.”
Ye Lin could not stand being called broke and retorted unhappily, “I will not be poor forever. There is an old saying that fortunes change, and I will be rich eventually.”
Amused by his confidence, Liang Wenle clutched his stomach and laughed. Gu Jiazhi also looked over, asking provocatively, “How are you going to get rich? Are you going to go to the Ye family for money?”
Having had some alcohol, Ye Lin’s voice grew louder. “A real man relies on himself! I will not ask the Ye family for a cent. I will earn it myself!”
At this, everyone doubled over with laughter, their voices drowning out the music. They all knew Ye Lin’s background. His biological mother was a bar hostess who tried to extort the Ye family after giving birth to him, but she was blocked by Mrs. Ye. Having no choice, she abandoned him and moved abroad. Ye Lin was raised by his grandmother, and after she passed away, he tried to approach the Ye family, but they ignored him. Moreover, Ye Lin had no skills and was drowning in debt.
Hating their laughter, Ye Lin slammed his bottle onto the table and cursed, “How short-sighted! Who can say for sure what the future holds?”
A wealthy young man sitting across from Ye Lin dismissed the person in his lap and handed Ye Lin an ice cream. “Alright, we will not laugh. Have some ice cream to cool down.”
Ye Lin saw that the ice cream was sprinkled with gold leaf, so he took it and had a few licks. His tongue was bright red against the white cream. Gu Jiazhi noticed this, and his glass stopped mid-air. Seeing this, the wealthy young man smiled with satisfaction.
“Do you want to come to my place later?”
Ye Lin only wanted to spend time on high-quality men and could not be bothered with this person. “No.”
Remembering the main task, Liang Wenle shoved Ye Lin’s arm and yelled, “Hurry up and tell me the plan!”
Ye Lin felt a bit hot. He set the bottle down and unbuttoned his collar, revealing a delicate collarbone. “It is simple. You act ambiguous with someone else and make sure Shen Shao finds out. Once he gets jealous and angry, he will confess to you.”
Liang Wenle was skeptical. “Will that really work?”
Ye Lin liked the taste of the alcohol and took a few more sips. “You will only know if you try.”
Used to giving orders, Liang Wenle pointed at Gu Jiazhi. “Then you act ambiguous with me.”
Gu Jiazhi raised his hands in surrender and gave a dry laugh. “Have mercy, Wenle! Our friendship is pure. Besides, everyone knows I like girls, so Shen Shao will not believe it.”
Liang Wenle glanced at him with disdain. “No taste. Liking men is the only normal thing.”
Finding a kindred spirit, Ye Lin immediately spoke up for Gu Jiazhi. “That is where you are wrong. Gu Jiazhi and I are the normal ones. Liking girls is only natural!”
Liang Wenle was so angry he wanted to hit him, but looking at Ye Lin’s face, the hit turned into a gentle poke. “I hate it when people contradict me. Do you not know you should be sucking up to me more than anyone here?”
Ye Lin’s skin was excellent. To the touch, it was as smooth as chocolate and as soft as a cloud. Liang Wenle could not help but pinch both of Ye Lin’s cheeks, remarking sincerely, “Wow, your face is actually quite fun to pinch. It is very soft and smooth.”
Watching this, Gu Jiazhi slowly sipped his wine and enjoyed the scene. Ye Lin’s cheeks were pinched red. He brushed the hands away irritably. “Stop it, it hurts!”
Liang Wenle was about to lose his temper, but he noticed Ye Lin’s face was flushed from the alcohol. Instead of yelling back, Liang Wenle just gave a soft hum to show his displeasure.
“Anyway, back to the point. Who am I supposed to be ambiguous with?”
Gu Jiazhi slightly raised his glass toward Ye Lin. “Why not him? He is right here, and he will act for money.”
Ye Lin replied firmly, “I am not acting ambiguous with a man. I am straight.”
The wealthy young man laughed. “With a face like yours, you were born to be loved by men. Being straight is a waste.”
Gu Jiazhi agreed, unable to stop himself from stealing a few more glances at Ye Lin. At first glance, Ye Lin looked pure and youthful, but there was an underlying touch of charm. His innocent, oblivious gaze was particularly alluring. He had above-average looks but top-tier vibes.
Ye Lin checked his face in his phone. It looked the same as before he transmigrated, just with better skin. Maybe it is because I am too pale, he thought. Men look best with a tan.
Ye Lin looked at the man across from him. “Do not misunderstand. I am not some pretty boy. There is no way I would like men.”
Liang Wenle grabbed Ye Lin’s chin, forcing him to turn around. “What do you mean by that look? Everyone keeps saying you attract men, but I do not see it.”
He stopped mid-sentence upon noticing Ye Lin’s lips, which were glistening from the alcohol as he protested. Something felt wrong. Although Ye Lin was not a genius, he had a pure quality that radiated charm.
Liang Wenle pondered for a moment, then suddenly snatched Ye Lin’s phone. “You do not have Shen Shao’s contact information in here, do you?”
It happened too fast. Ye Lin reacted a second late and lunged to grab it back. Liang Wenle dodged him while checking the contact list. Being drunk, Ye Lin felt the world spinning. In a moment of lunging, he tumbled directly into Liang Wenle’s lap.
The wealthy young man seized the opportunity to tease him. “Look at you, throwing yourself into his arms. Did you not just say you were straight?”
Ye Lin cursed angrily, “I am dizzy! That was an accident!”
Liang Wenle felt a sudden heat in his arms and a faint scent. His face flushed. He did not push him away, but he shouted anyway, “Get off!”
Ye Lin simply wrapped his arms around Liang Wenle’s waist. “I will not let go unless you give my phone back.”
Liang Wenle had never been held so closely. His heart fluttered. He hurriedly tried to hold Ye Lin still. “Stop moving!”
Unable to get his phone, Ye Lin insisted on squirming while shouting, “I will move if I want to!”
Liang Wenle was only eighteen and lacked experience. Being hassled like this made him feel something strange. He quickly returned the phone, feigning composure. “Fine! You do not have his number anyway. Stay far away from him in the future!”
Having retrieved his phone, Ye Lin sat up, grumbling about how high-strung Liang Wenle was. No one was angry; instead, they laughed along, treating him like a kitten throwing a tantrum.
Liang Wenle realized Ye Lin was indeed a troublesome factor. He absolutely could not let this idiot get near Shen Shao. He had just lost his own composure because of Ye Lin, so what about Shen Shao? Liang Wenle poked Ye Lin’s cheek again and commanded, “You are going to act ambiguous with me for Shen Shao to see. Do you hear me?”
Ye Lin slapped his hand away. “I am not doing that with a guy.”
Liang Wenle gave him a look of disdain. He knew exactly what a person like Ye Lin needed. “I will give you five million. Will you do it then?”
Five million! Ye Lin sobered up instantly. Seeing Liang Wenle spend five million like it was five dollars made him envious. He agreed immediately. “Fine. However, the most we do is hold hands. I really have no interest in men.”
Liang Wenle rolled his eyes. “As if I would ever be desperate enough to kiss you. You are so ugly!”
Relieved and confident that Liang Wenle would never be interested in him, Ye Lin happily sealed the deal.
After a while, everyone was thoroughly drunk. The noise in the booth quieted down as people slumped over. Ye Lin fell asleep against Liang Wenle. Liang Wenle was completely wasted, mumbling to himself about how he would bully Shen Shao ruthlessly once he won him over.
The only sober person, Gu Jiazhi, walked over to them. “Let us head back, Wenle.”
Liang Wenle stood up wobbily and gestured for a waiter to help him to the parking lot. Seeing him leave, Gu Jiazhi helped Ye Lin up. Ye Lin struggled to open his eyes. Seeing Gu Jiazhi’s face, he chuckled.
“Hey, Gu, you are the only normal one here today. Let us be friends!”
Gu Jiazhi leaned in close, observing the drunk man. Something stirred in his mind. “How about you come to my place to rest tonight?”
Ye Lin leaned in voluntarily, draping an arm over Gu Jiazhi’s shoulder and murmuring, “Okay.”
Gu Jiazhi picked him up and walked toward the door. Along the way, Ye Lin was restless, opening his eyes occasionally to talk.
“Why are you friends with these weirdos who like guys?”
“So liking men makes someone a weirdo?” Gu Jiazhi kept his voice soft. With his friends gone, he did not need to pretend anymore.
“Of course. Only you and I are normal. Since you are helping me today, I will not forget you once I strike it rich,” Ye Lin promised earnestly.
If he were even slightly sober, he would have seen the desire in Gu Jiazhi’s eyes and would not have been able to say such a thing.
“Then repay me tonight,” Gu Jiazhi replied.
