- Chapter 36 - I’ve Already Been Abandoned by Yan Run
Meng Qieyi had only let her in out of the consideration for their years of friendship. Now, she snapped,
“You have any idea how much trouble you’ve caused me?”
Lang Feng’s voice was icy. “I’m not denying I gave you the drug—but you were the one who accepted it. This was your doing. Why blame me? If you’d kept yourself under control, none of this would have happened.”
Meng Qieyi was left speechless, her eyes widening in shock.
Lang Feng suddenly reached out and clasped her hand, smiling faintly. “We’re still friends… right?”
Meng Qieyi yanked her hand away and shook her head. “Not anymore. I want nothing more to do with you. I’m leaving the country tomorrow. Take care of yourself.”
The moment Lang Feng heard she was going abroad, panic flared in her eyes.
“You can’t—why are you leaving? The Meng family’s businesses are all here in A City. What could possibly be keeping you overseas?”
Meng Qieyi’s tone was frosty. “Whether I go or not—what does it have to do with you?”
“Of course it has to do with me!” Lang Feng burst out.
Meng Qieyi froze. Lang Feng was always composed, her smiles a constant mask—rarely did she ever lose her temper like this.
Lang Feng’s voice softened with sincerity. “Qieyi, no matter what happened, my advice to you was meant to help. I’ve truly helped you in the past, haven’t I? My feelings toward you have been genuine. Can’t we still be friends? I promise, I’ll never suggest anything this low again.”
Meng Qieyi still refused to answer, moving to force her out.
“Why are you kicking me out?!” Lang Feng shouted, refusing to budge.
Breathing hard, Meng Qieyi snapped, “What the hell is wrong with you?! What exactly was the point of all this?” She had once thought Lang Feng’s boldness and carefree nature were refreshing—now she seemed utterly deranged. Especially now.
“Fine, I’ll tell you,” Lang Feng said helplessly. “I know Yan Run—and I have a grudge against her.”
“So you used me as a shield?” Meng Qieyi’s voice turned glacial. “You’ve done nothing but push me into the abyss. Some ‘friend’ you are.”
“You’ve always wanted to have Yu Wenxi, haven’t you? That so-called pure beauty?” Lang Feng sneered. “She goes around seducing every Alpha she meets. You’re that obsessed with her? If she loses her innocence, becomes your wife, and drags Yan Run’s reputation through the mud at the same time—it’s killing two birds with one stone. Why not?”
Smack!
Meng Qieyi’s palm cracked across her face. “Shut your mouth. You don’t get to talk about Wenxi!”
“Oh, so you don’t appreciate my kindness? You’d rather pine after Yu Wenxi, who doesn’t even like you? What right do you have to like her?” Lang Feng’s eyes suddenly burned crimson. “I was abandoned by Yan Run, and I’ll be damned if I let my friends abandon me too!”
Meng Qieyi frowned, unable to make sense of what she meant.
Lang Feng gritted her teeth. “I’ll make sure Yan Run pays.”

Once Meng Qieyi left, another Alpha joined the cast—a male doctor named Xu Tangran.
The moment he arrived, Han Shu and Wang Yunfan’s eyes were glued to him.
The way Wang Yunfan was looking made Gao Ge visibly displeased.
Xu Zhaozhao felt a bitter pang in his chest. Once upon a time, he and Yu Chen had been just as in love.
Even with the newcomer, the atmosphere in the group remained tense.
The only exception was Ji Zhiyé and Wei Qin, who seemed more harmonious than ever. Ji Zhiyé picked out dishes for Wei Qin, and Wei Qin—unlike before—ate without protest, almost casually.
But the couple that netizens “shipped” the most—Yan Run and Yu Wenxi—had grown conspicuously cold.
They were rarely in the same frame, and they barely spoke.
【Wait, are they fighting?】
【Feels like a cold war.】
【Ugh, what happened? Is my ship sinking?】
【Did Ergou make Wenxi mad again?】
【Looks like it—just look at how she’s trying to please her. Definitely her fault!】
【Er Gou really is a dog… but watching her try to coax her wife is hilarious.】
Yan Run didn’t know how to coax an Omega, but Wenxi wouldn’t give her the time of day. Anxious, she kept trying to make conversation.
She’d even messaged her before on WeChat—
I’m not exactly dying to divorce you, you know.
We can do it your way.
Hehe.
Yu Wenxi had simply replied with a [Hehe] emoji.
Yan Run: “…”
I was wrong. Can you at least talk to me more?
Yan Run had sent over a dozen messages, but Wenxi never replied. Even face-to-face, Yan Run repeated herself again and again, only to receive polite, distant answers.
It drove her nearly insane.
She prided herself on her composure, but something about Wenxi’s coldness made her inexplicably restless.
At dinner, Yan Run made a point of filling Wenxi’s plate.
Wenxi ate without complaint—but also without saying a word.
Watching her, Yan Run felt an unexpected ache in her chest.
Back in their bedroom, she’d apologized, telling her, Whatever you say, I’ll listen. We don’t have to rush the divorce. Let’s just talk things through.
Wenxi had arched a brow coolly. “Didn’t you say you wanted a divorce?”
Yan Run smiled ingratiatingly. “I’m not in a hurry.”
“I am,” Wenxi replied coldly. “Didn’t you say you’d do what I wanted?”
“But…”
“You mean my grandmother? I have my own arrangements for her.” Wenxi declared.
“Isn’t getting a divorce right after the show ends a bit too abrupt?” Yan Run said.
“Weren’t you the one who couldn’t wait to leave? I’m granting your wish, and you’re still not happy? Yan Run, what exactly do you want?”
Yan Run lifted her gaze, pitiful and pleading. “Can’t we wait a year before we discuss it again?”
“There’s nothing to discuss.” Yu Wenxi muttered.
“Ending the marriage as soon as the show wraps up… it wouldn’t look good for either of us.” Yan Run commented.
Yu Wenxi’s words had been said in anger; she knew full well it wouldn’t reflect well on them, so she eventually gave a cold, indifferent nod.
Still, the silent treatment continued. Usually, it was Yan Run trying to initiate conversation while Yu Wenxi responded with nothing more than flat, perfunctory replies.
Yan Run grew increasingly anxious—pouring her water, peeling tangerines for her—yet never managing to coax even the faintest smile from her goddess.
Thinking about it now, Yan Run felt like slapping herself.
Xu Tangran spoke up. “In a few days, there’s going to be a racing event at my place. I was hoping to invite you both to come and have some fun.”
Yan Run brightened. “Racing? I’ve never tried it before, but it sounds fun.”
Yu Wenxi’s expression faltered.
Others at the table looked mildly surprised. For the second young miss of such a wealthy family to have never raced was unexpected.
Xu Tangran asked, “Second Miss, you’ve really never been racing before?”
Yan Run froze. She’d lost three months of memories, so of course she hadn’t.
Yu Wenxi gave a faint smile. “She’s timid most of the time. Thanks for taking her.”
Hearing Yu Wenxi step in for her, Yan Run felt a strange warmth in her chest. She couldn’t help but gaze at her like a schoolgirl with a crush. Yu Wenxi, noticing her stare, returned it with a cold look.
Xu Tangran’s ears flushed red. He muttered something polite and reached for the braised pork. But after a few bites, his expression changed; he quickly spat it out, rinsed his mouth with water, his face turning redder still.
Xu Zhaozhao, puzzled, took a piece himself—only to cough from the sudden burn. “No wonder no one touched it. The sauce is made with chili oil.”
In a sour mood, Gao Ge pouted. “That’s not all. The rest of the dishes aren’t great either.” He quickly shut his mouth and glanced stealthily toward the chefs—Wei Qin and Ji Zhiye.
Seeing Xu Tangran’s reaction rattled Yan Run as well. Just earlier, Yu Wenxi had given her a serving of shredded pork in Beijing sauce—so salty it nearly choked her. She suspected Yu Wenxi hadn’t taken more than a bite herself and had deliberately given it to her.
Wei Qin held her tongue until they were in the kitchen washing dishes, then finally snapped.
“What’s that supposed to mean? This is the first time I’ve cooked for them, and they’re saying things like that?”
Ji Zhiye laughed sheepishly beside her. “It’s my first time too. Isn’t it normal if the food isn’t great?”
“So you also think it’s not good, huh? That braised pork?” Wei Qin challenged.
“Of course not!” Ji Zhiye retorted. “I ate several pieces just now.”
Though in truth, she’d washed it down with so much water she felt full to bursting.
Wei Qin smirked in satisfaction. “That’s more like it.”
Then Ji Zhiye suddenly slid an arm around her waist, murmuring softly in her ear, “What about that time I cooked for you? How was that?”
Wei Qin’s ears flushed red. “How would I know?” she snapped.
Ji Zhiye blinked. She could’ve sworn Wei Qin had told her she was amazing before—so why claim not to remember now? Omega moods really were impossible to read.
On the balcony, Yu Wenxi walked ahead with Yan Run trailing closely behind. Yu Wenxi was starting to get annoyed with her shadow and clicked her tongue. “I want to be alone.”
“Then… how about I keep you company for a chat?” Yan Run ventured carefully.
Yu Wenxi: “There’s nothing to talk about.”
Yan Run: “There is, though.”
Yu Wenxi : “What is it you want to say?”
Yan Run: “Let’s go inside and talk.”
Yu Wenxi shook her head. “Say it here.”
But Yan Run took her hand, her voice soft and syrupy. “Wifey~”
【Ahhh! First time I’ve heard Second Dog call her ‘wifey’!】
【Wait, what are they going inside for—making a baby?】
【I think it’s just something they want to say in private.】
【Why so secretive? Why can’t we hear it?】
【I want some sweet moments! Feed me sugar!】
【Didn’t they say Second Dog can’t have kids? I doubt it’s about a baby—they’re probably just putting on a show.】
【That infertility rumor is fake, right?】
【It’s been going around forever. I think Second Dog just looks kidney-deficient—probably can’t have kids.】
【I can’t even imagine how good their baby would look… No, with that much money, Second Dog would find a way.】
【Forget it, I’m going to watch Ji Zhiye and the movie queen instead. I’m more into bickering couples who are obviously going to end up together!】
Yu Wenxi arched a brow. The way Yan Run had just called her “wifey” was soft and coaxing, almost like before, when she used to act all sweet toward her. For a moment, her heart stirred.
So she let herself be led into the bedroom.
Yan Run carefully guided Yu Wenxi to sit on the sofa, then crouched down in front of her. With wide, pleading eyes, she tried to look as pitiful as possible. “I really do think I was wrong. Can’t you stop being mad and talk to me properly?”
Yu Wenxi said nothing.
Yan Run clasped her hands tightly, her gaze sincere—almost like the old days. Yu Wenxi’s lips curled in a cold smile.
She tilted Yan Run’s chin up.
“Are you sure?” Yu Wenxi asked, one brow arched.
Yan Run blinked in confusion. “Huh?”
“Then do as I say,” Yu Wenxi told her.
After a moment’s hesitation, Yan Run nodded firmly.
“Take off your clothes.” Yu Wenxi declared.
