- Chapter 5 - How to Humiliate a Straight Man? He is My Male Concubine.
Master Long’s private medicine vault required Long Yin himself to be present to unlock it. Long Yin followed the doctor out, leaving Yue Yuling behind to accompany Yue Mingcang.
Yue Yuling was not worried about Yue Mingcang at all; she was more concerned about Grandma Yue. However, when she stood up to follow Long Yin’s departing figure, the black-clad bodyguards on both sides stepped forward and blocked her path.
The hospital was filled with Long Yin’s people from top to bottom; he called all the shots. No matter how gentle Long Yin’s attitude seemed, her and Yue Mingcang’s fates still rested entirely upon his whims.
Yue Yuling shrank her neck and sat back down on Yue Mingcang’s hospital bed. In a place where everything and everyone was unfamiliar, her brother’s side was ultimately the most reassuring.
However, Yue Mingcang said coldly, “This is all because of the trouble you caused.”
Yue Yuling felt extremely aggrieved. “How did I cause trouble? I just wanted to help!”
“Help?” Yue Mingcang looked up, his tone incredibly severe. “Is this help? You were throwing yourself into a fire pit! Do you not know what kind of person Master Du is? Who gave you the courage to try and make a connection with him?”
Yue Yuling pursed her lips and retorted, “How do you have the nerve to lecture me? Master Du is just a bit old and has a poor character, but at least his identity is clean. What about you? Look at who you are hitting on: Master Long’s little lover!”
At this, she suddenly silenced herself, then leaned into Yue Mingcang’s ear and whispered with a hint of schadenfreude, “If Master Long finds out you are hitting on his little lover, you had better prepare to be tossed into the sea!”
Yue Mingcang replied, “He is not Master Long’s little lover. He is Master Long’s son.”
Yue Yuling countered, “Wow, keep making things up. Master Long is over eighty years old; how could he have such a young son?”
Yue Mingcang remained silent. Although his sister was ditzy most of the time, her suspicion in this regard was actually quite reasonable. Anyone who had seen both Long Yin and Master Long would find it difficult to imagine a father-son relationship between them. It was not just the age gap; the two had absolutely nothing in common in terms of appearance or personality.
Forget Yue Yuling; even he himself still harbored slight doubts. Rather than believing Master Long was still fertile at sixty-six, he preferred to believe that he was actually dead and that Long Yin was not a real person, but a god he had hallucinated. The fact that this high-and-mighty deity had bowed his head three times only added to the ethereal sensation of being unable to touch the ground. He felt light and airy, just like when Long Yin held him in his arms, suspended in mid-air.
Yue Mingcang’s face turned bright red. He grabbed the ice pack he had set aside and pressed it against his face to cool down.
Yue Yuling misunderstood his reaction. Seeing him like this, she thought he was overwhelmed with shame because she had exposed his lie, and she immediately became triumphant.
“Brother, it is okay. I know you did it for the company and everyone else. I understand you!”
Yue Mingcang snapped, “You do not understand anything.”
Yue Yuling’s eyes widened. “How can you be like this? Forget not thanking me, you are even using foul language. Since when did you become like this?”
Yue Mingcang let out a long sigh and gave up arguing with her. The only reason Yue Yuling was currently able to talk nonsense in front of him, alive and well, was purely due to good luck. Had any single link in the chain been slightly off, the fate of these siblings would have slid into an abyss he did not even dare to imagine. Looking at Yue Yuling’s oblivious state, he felt both fortunate and terrified. A couple of complaints were his limit; he could not bring himself to say anything harsher.
Suddenly, the special assistant pushed the door open and announced, “Guests, the old lady is awake.”
“Grandma!” Yue Yuling cried out and rushed out, with Yue Mingcang following close behind.
In a patient room one floor away, Grandma Yue had not only regained consciousness but was also in high spirits. The expensive imported Type-X thrombolytic injection provided by Master Long played a huge role, but it was mostly because they were lucky. Grandma Yue had barely lost consciousness before they tirelessly rushed her to the best hospital for the best treatment.
When Yue Mingcang entered the ward, Grandma Yue was leaning against the headboard chatting with Long Yin.
“Little Yin, where are you from? Are you an adult yet?”
“I have been an adult for two years, Grandma. I am Chinese, but I grew up in Country D. I just recently moved back.”
“Ah, no wonder your accent sounds a bit unique when you speak.”
“What? Do I have an accent? No way, Grandma, I specifically practiced the S-City dialect before coming back.”
Watching the two of them chat from a distance, Yue Mingcang felt it was both heartwarming and eerie. He knew how good Grandma was at small talk. On a typical day, she could sit at the entrance of an alleyway and chat with a high schooler coming home for half the day, prying out their entire family history while the kid just stood there smiling like an idiot. Still, a high schooler was one thing; who would have thought Grandma’s skills would work on Long Yin?
Keep in mind, if Master Long was dead, Long Yin should be the new “Master Long.” “Master Long” holding hands and chatting with his Grandma: was he going crazy? How could he dream of such a thing?
“Grandma!” Yue Yuling did not care about the atmosphere in the room at all. She charged straight in, threw herself at Grandma Yue’s hand, and began wailing, “Grandma, how are you? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”
“Do not worry, Grandma is fine.” Grandma Yue patted Yue Yuling’s hand and looked up at Yue Mingcang. “Mingcang is here too.”
Yue Mingcang nodded slightly, his eyes involuntarily stinging. As soon as Long Yin saw the two of them, or more accurately, saw Yue Mingcang, he immediately pulled back his smile and stepped aside. With a sour expression, he lost all the liveliness he had shown while chatting with Grandma Yue.
Yue Yuling could recklessly throw herself at Grandma Yue, but Yue Mingcang had to walk toward Long Yin and submissively say, “Thank you.”
Long Yin picked up the White Dragon cane leaning against the wall, not giving Yue Mingcang a shred of civility. “As long as you are okay. Stay here with Grandma; I am leaving.”
“Little Yin, walk slowly. Thank you for today,” Grandma Yue said kindly from the bed. “I am relieved that Mingcang can make such a good friend.”
“What? Yue Mingcang is definitely not my friend!”
It was as if a keyword had been triggered; Long Yin’s face changed completely. A villainous boss cannot be friends with a power-fantasy protagonist; there was no such logic!
Hearing Long Yin’s words, Yue Mingcang’s face turned a shade paler. In front of outsiders, he did not care how humble he had to be, but in front of his family elders, he still wanted to maintain a shred of dignity. Unfortunately, while Yue Mingcang wanted dignity, Long Yin had no intention of giving it to him.
Just now, Long Yin had suddenly realized something very important: the fact that Yue Mingcang was a straight man was actually a good thing. In those power-fantasy stories, wouldn’t a world-shaking straight male protagonist feel supreme humiliation if treated as the “Main Character Bottom” by the villain? Just like now, in public and in front of Grandma Yue, it was the perfect time to humiliate Yue Mingcang.
Long Yin’s mind raced, and he quickly made a decision, speaking with a cold and arrogant tone, “Grandma, you are older, so you might not accept this kind of thing, but Yue Mingcang is indeed not my friend. He is my male…”
“You young people think just because Grandma is old, I am an old-fashioned fossil. You underestimate me; I am very open-minded.” Grandma Yue’s gaze darted back and forth between Yue Mingcang and Long Yin, her face practically glowing with open-mindedness.
Long Yin finished, “…male concubine.”
Grandma Yue asked, “?” Maybe she was not that open-minded.
Yue Yuling exclaimed, “!!!”
Yue Mingcang was speechless.
Amidst the shocked, horrified, and bewildered stares of everyone present, Long Yin turned and left with satisfaction, looking like a general who had won a battle. A second before stepping out, he deliberately looked back at Yue Mingcang with a gaze full of provocation, as if saying, “Even if I talk nonsense and ruin your reputation, there is nothing you can do about it.”
A crowd of bodyguards followed Long Yin out with calm expressions, thoughtfully closing the door behind them. After a brief silence, Grandma Yue pointed at Yue Mingcang’s nose, her hand trembling. “You! I do not care who you mess around with outside, but Little Yin is such a good child, and you have corrupted him! You are a disgrace to the family!”
Yue Mingcang explained, near a total breakdown, “Grandma, it is not like that. I did not corrupt him. How would I even have the guts? He and I are not in that kind of relationship. He is Master Long’s son!”
Grandma Yue clutched her heart and fell back onto the bed. “It is one thing to corrupt him, but you are still here talking nonsense! Since when did you become like this?”
Yue Yuling also joined in. “Grandma, you have no idea what things my brother has been doing secretly outside. It is truly terrifying.”
Yue Mingcang felt it was impossible to defend himself. For the first time in his life, he understood what it meant to be unable to explain the truth. Master Long’s death had not been officially announced yet. Aside from himself, absolutely no one would believe that the Great Ship of the Long Family had changed captains, let alone that the new captain was Long Yin.
Under Grandma Yue’s disappointed gaze and Yue Yuling’s dramatic look, Yue Mingcang sighed and said helplessly, “He said it himself; he came back from abroad and his Chinese is not good. What he actually meant was that I am his male friend.”
Grandma Yue huffed twice, barely accepting the explanation. “If his Chinese is not good, you have to teach him well. He is so much younger than you and so handsome; you need to be more tolerant and give in to him more. Do not make him angry, understood?”
Yue Mingcang wondered if he should be tolerant of Long Yin. Was he even worthy? How exactly did things develop to this point? Was he dreaming? No matter how much he was collapsing inside, in front of Grandma Yue, Yue Mingcang could only bite the bullet and say, “Fine, I will definitely teach him well.”
“Prince!”
Before Long Yin could walk out of the hospital entrance, Yue Mingcang caught up. There were no lines of patients in the lobby of the Long Family Private Hospital; all patients came by appointment. However, Long Yin traveled with more than twenty bodyguards, who stood in a grand formation that filled the hall.
Yue Mingcang pushed through the immense pressure, and under countless scrutinizing gazes, arrived before Long Yin.
Long Yin squinted at him and said in an unfriendly tone, “Is there something else?”
Yue Mingcang said sincerely, “Thank you for saving Grandma. I will never forget your kindness for the rest of my life. I will work like a horse or an ox to—”
Long Yin snorted coldly. “There is no need for you to remember such a small thing. What you should remember is that I did not drug the grapes. You had an attack on your own; it has nothing to do with my grapes!” He was just a roleplayer trying his best to finish his job. The grave crime of murdering the Chosen One could not be pinned on his head!
Yue Mingcang replied, “I remember.”
Even with Yue Mingcang’s promise, Long Yin was still a bit uneasy and added another sentence: “I harmed you once, and I helped you once. We are even.”
This time, Yue Mingcang hesitated for a long time before he could say “okay.” How was it that Long Yin had only helped him once? He had clearly helped him again and again. He was a businessman who would not lift a finger without profit, but he was not shameless enough to accept this version of calling it even.
Long Yin did not care whether Yue Mingcang agreed or not. After saying his piece, he turned to leave. Seeing this, Yue Mingcang quickly ran a few steps, bracing against the bodyguards’ instantly vigilant gazes, and blocked Long Yin’s path.
“You still have something?” Long Yin’s eyes widened. The pitch of this sentence was significantly higher, carrying a slight sense of intimidation and warning.
Yue Mingcang said sheepishly, “Your male concubine wants your contact information. Is that okay?”
Long Yin was stunned.
