- Chapter 3 - One Person's Chaotic Battle
He Is Scaming Me! My Grapes Are…
Long Yin used to play the role of a “passerby top” in restricted web novels. He only ever interacted with the protagonist tops or bottoms, so he truly did not understand “straight men” very well.
When it came to things he did not understand, Long Yin was always a humble student.
Long Yin: [Xiao Bai, Xiao Bai, is Yue Mingcang acting normal?]
Xiao Bai: [The main system has not reported any errors, woof! Everything is normal, woof! Rest assured, Great Host, woof!]
Long Yin nodded thoughtfully.
Alright, since Yue Mingcang was “normal,” the problem must lie with himself. It was inappropriate to judge a straight man by the standards of a protagonist bottom.
While Long Yin was communicating with the system in his mind, the special assistant had already walked up to Yue Mingcang and made a gesture to see him out.
“Please, Mr. Yue.”
The assistant’s tone was not great. He clearly had no favorable impression of this crude, foul-minded young man.
Yue Mingcang, who had remained as steady as a mountain regardless of his circumstances in the past, felt a rare sense of embarrassment at this moment.
He looked longingly at the back of the executive chair where Long Yin sat, having spun $180^circ$ away. His heart was full of regret.
If he had just eaten those grapes normally, he might still be able to chat with Long Yin right now.
Unfortunately, he had messed up such a great opportunity.
Not only that, even though Long Yin had mercifully let him go, he could not leave because his goal had not been achieved yet.
After Dragon Port was abandoned by White Dragon Shipping, all the orders they had fought so hard for went down the drain. Bank loans would not go through, warehouse leases could not be renewed, and the company was on the brink of bankruptcy. To seek a glimmer of hope, his younger sister, Yue Yuling, had accompanied a business partner onto the “Pure White,” only to go missing afterward.
Upon hearing the news, he did everything possible to disguise himself as a supply staff member and snuck onto the ship at the last minute. However, the “Pure White” was simply too large. If he relied only on himself, it would be impossible to find Yue Yuling in a short time.
The only person on the entire ship who could find her immediately was Lord Dragon; well, now it was Long Yin.
But why should Long Yin help him?
Lord Dragon and he had clashed several times; they had both old and new grudges, as well as conflicting interests. There was plenty of room to maneuver. But what about Long Yin?
This was his first time meeting Long Yin, and he had made a terrible impression. He had no leverage to control Long Yin, nor any benefits to entice him.
Unless a miracle happened, it was impossible for Long Yin to help.
Before today, miracles had never appeared in his life. There were only instances of helpless loss, one after another.
His father, his mother, and his sister; the few things he possessed were disappearing from his life one by one. It was as if God were pushing him toward a dead end, forcing him to give up everything for a desperate gamble.
But he did not want to do that. What he wanted was never a “sink or swim” desperation, but the safety of his family.
Only today, he encountered his one and only miracle:
Long Yin’s grapes were fed by mouth.
How could he get this pure, white, and untainted Young Master to keep him here? And what would it take for him to be granted a second miracle?
Seeing that Yue Mingcang was not moving, the assistant immediately signaled the bodyguards on both sides.
Without waiting for the bodyguards to approach, Yue Mingcang raised his hand to wipe his face and began walking toward the exit.
His strides were long, showing no intention of stalling for time, as if he had compromised and given up.
No one noticed that his jaw was moving slightly; he was chewing something.
It was not grapes; the grapes were long gone. Nor was it something he had snuck in from outside; he had been frisked upon entering, and every pocket had been emptied.
He took it from this room.
There were two fruit plates on the table: one piled with untouched grapes, and the other scattered with half-eaten melon seeds and peanuts.
Under the cover of his “voracious and uncouth” image, Yue Mingcang had secretly grabbed two peanuts from the other plate. He had kept them hidden in his palm until now.
He had a severe peanut allergy. Two were enough to send him to the hospital.
Within just a few steps, Yue Mingcang began to feel a wave of heat and shortness of breath.
The door was right in front of him, but Yue Mingcang knew very well he would not be walking out of it.
A second before collapsing forward, fearing the noise would be too quiet to catch Long Yin’s attention, he spun around at the last moment and squeezed out a raspy cry with his remaining strength:
“Young Master!”
Just this once, give him one more miracle.
He was willing to pay any price for it.
Coincidentally, at the moment Yue Mingcang called out, Long Yin happened to spin his chair back $180^circ$.
The reason he spun back was because he realized he had made a huge mistake.
Anger aside, he should not have kicked Yue Mingcang out.
Although the “Humiliation Points” had increased during their interaction, it was only by a tiny bit.
At this rate, he would have to meet Yue Mingcang eighty-nine more times to complete his role-playing mission.
You did not need a brain to know that the original plot would not provide that many meeting opportunities between the protagonist and the villain.
The moment their eyes met, Long Yin was thinking about how to get Yue Mingcang to stay a bit longer so he could “bully” him more.
Before he could come up with a plan, he saw Yue Mingcang clutching his throat with one hand, his face contorted in pain as he collapsed.
“What is happening?”
Long Yin bounded out of his chair and rushed toward him.
“What is wrong with you? Why did you suddenly go like this?”
“Where is the doctor? Call a doctor!”
“He is scamming me! My grapes just came out of the freezer, and nothing was added to them!”
For a moment, the room was in total chaos. Voices filled the air, but in reality, all the talking was done by Long Yin, and he was the only one panicking.
The bodyguards and assistants only regretted that they had not been fast enough to throw Yue Mingcang out so he could die outside.
They were all “inherited” by Long Yin from Lord Dragon. They had seen too many storms; while Yue Mingcang’s tactic was unusual, it was not anything new to them.
“I beg you!”
Yue Mingcang could not finish his sentence. He was on the verge of losing consciousness, unable to control the muscles needed to speak. But from Long Yin’s anxious voice, he knew he had won his gamble.
Amidst his relief, Yue Mingcang even had the heart to think of something else.
Everyone present was from the Long family. Even if the Young Master had not added anything to the grapes, so what?
The ship belonged to the Longs; the sea was the Longs’ hunting ground. Here, Long Yin was the law.
Yue Mingcang could not think much longer. Intense fatigue washed over him. Just as he was about to close his eyes and pass out, a sharp, stinging slap landed on his face.
“Don’t you dare sleep! Talk to me! What on earth is wrong with you!”
Long Yin had put almost all his strength into that slap, causing half of Yue Mingcang’s face to swell.
He was completely frantic, ignoring everything else.
For a role-player, causing the protagonist’s disability or injury outside of the original plot was the most serious violation. In extreme cases, one could even be erased by the World Consciousness!
The pain restored a sliver of Yue Mingcang’s will. He opened his eyes dizzily and met Long Yin’s golden eyes, which were burning with anxiety.
Long Yin roared at the top of his lungs, “What is wrong with you? What kind of condition is this! Where is your medicine? Do you have medicine on you?”
“Sister, my sister, she is… she is on the ship!”
After finishing his last sentence in fragments, Yue Mingcang lost consciousness completely.
Yue Yuling knew she was in deep trouble this time.
Although she had guessed tonight would not just be about accompanying someone for drinks, she had not expected these bastards’ bottom line to be so low.
She tightly gripped a mini fruit knife she had managed to swipe in the confusion, coldly calculating how to take someone down with her.
She would pretend to comply, then strike when they least expected it; taking one down would be a fair trade, and taking two would be a profit!
Just as Yue Yuling was about to make her move, the door to the private room was kicked open violently. A group of fully armed bodyguards in black rushed in, controlling the scene in the blink of an eye.
The old bastards attempting the assault were pinned to the ground with their arms twisted behind them. The girls screamed and retreated to the corners, grabbing scattered fabrics to cover themselves.
Yue Yuling was stunned.
What was going on? Were the police conducting raids in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?
“Who is Yue Yuling?”
Someone shouted.
Yue Yuling snapped out of it and immediately lowered her head, playing dead.
Unfortunately, she was too slow, and her guilty movements, combined with everyone else’s eyes darting toward her, sold her out instantly.
A second later, Yue Yuling was pulled up.
The person asked sternly, “You are Yue Yuling?”
Yue Yuling shrank her neck and nodded weakly.
“Something happened to your brother. Come with us immediately!”
“What brother? My brother? Which brother?”
Already confused, Yue Yuling was now completely bewildered.
When she was out, she called everyone “Brother.” For a moment, she could not figure out which one they meant.
Were these people here to save her, or were they trying to lure her into an even more dangerous trap?
Dazed, Yue Yuling followed the bodyguards out of the room and onto a private elevator. Because there were so many bodyguards and they were positioned poorly, she could not see which floor they pressed. She could only judge based on the floor display.
The higher the floor, the more prominent the guests. When it passed the 18th floor, Yue Yuling basically ruled out the possibility of being set up. When it passed the 20th floor, she reached up to tidy her messy hair. When it passed the 25th floor, Yue Yuling went numb.
Finally, the elevator stopped at the 28th floor, which was the highest residential level.
There was only one suite on this floor. To be precise, the entire floor was a single suite; it was the exclusive domain of the ship’s owner, Lord Dragon.
Yue Yuling walked forward with the bodyguards, her heart pounding. Every step felt like walking on eggshells.
As the view opened up, the first thing that caught her eye was the young, handsome, and breathtaking Long Yin.
“My god!”
Yue Yuling could not help but whisper.
Rich people really know how to enjoy life; they can even force-marry a guy of this caliber! If only she were that rich!
Midway through her wild thoughts, she caught sight of Yue Mingcang out of the corner of her eye, surrounded by a large group of doctors and nurses.
Yue Yuling’s eyes widened: “Brother?”
Long Yin said anxiously, “You are finally here. What is wrong with your brother? Why did he pass out after eating grapes? He said you had medicine before he lost consciousness. Where is it?”
Yue Yuling looked confused.
What illness? What medicine?
What was going on? Why was her brother on the ship?
There were so many questions that she did not even know where to start.
People who knew Yue Yuling often said she was too blunt, lacked social cues, and did not know how to speak.
However, at this moment, standing in the owner’s suite on the 28th floor of the “Pure White” surrounded by armed bodyguards, the extreme environment suddenly activated her survival instincts.
If she said she did not know, she would die. If she said there was no medicine, she would also die.
Yue Yuling steadied herself and replied, “This is an old ailment of my brother’s. It flares up from time to time. I usually carry the medicine with me.”
Long Yin’s eyes lit up: “Give it to me, quick!”
Yue Yuling said, “But I left in such a hurry today that I left it at home.”
Long Yin was speechless.
