After the Nerd Marked the Top Omega - Chapter 7.2
In their final year of high school, the head teacher assigned them adjacent desks, and they became desk-mates.
During one break, the sunlight streamed through the window. Song Shu tilted her head and quietly asked, “Fang Xu, do you want to be with me?”
The sunlight that day was so lovely that it made Fang Xu feel warm all over. Her eyes moved slightly. She showed no excitement or surprise, but was very relaxed, and softly said, “Okay.”
The moment the college entrance exams ended, Song Shu told her family about the relationship, and Fang Xu also took on the responsibility of caring for Song Shu in the relationship.
They did have feelings for each other.
But over these three years, those feelings were slowly eroded.
If Song Shu had asked for reconciliation before, Fang Xu would have agreed.
But for the past two days, she kept thinking about the lounge.
It was also a sunny afternoon, and with red eyes, she heard that person faintly say: You did nothing wrong, why apologize?
She and Song Shu might truly be incompatible.
This relationship should end here.
To continue would only be mutual torment.
Song Shu didn’t know her thoughts, and her expression turned ugly: “Are you saying we’re completely breaking up?”
Fang Xu collected her thoughts and reminded her: “Song Shu, you were the one who broke up with me. You said you had someone else you liked.”
Song Shu: “I was just too angry at the time…”
Fang Xu interrupted her: “It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Words spoken are like water poured out—they can’t be taken back, and the damage done can’t be undone.
Song Shu looked at her: “So you’re serious about breaking up with me?”
Fang Xu nodded: “If possible, please tell your friends about this too.”
With the conversation reaching this point, how could Song Shu not understand her meaning: “Don’t worry, I definitely won’t bother you again in the future!”
Fang Xu raised her hand, intending to stop her.
She didn’t find it bothersome, nor would she truly forget the help Song Shu’s mother had provided.
Just not as a girlfriend anymore.
But Song Shu didn’t give her a chance to explain, as usual. She left immediately after speaking, her anger so intense it was evident even in her rapidly receding silhouette.
Fang Xu stood in place for a while, slowly exhaled, and then turned to leave as well.
At the same time, just five meters away on another path, the assistant rushed over and said, “CEO Pei, the materials you requested.”
The purpose of this visit to Jiangcheng University had little to do with the event itself, but mainly to continue discussing the details of the upcoming collaboration. The school’s status was special, and to show the company’s seriousness, it required Pei Yunci to come personally.
However, since this wasn’t for publicity, there was no need for the grand fanfare of a lecture, and not many people knew she was here.
Pei Yunci is sensitive to pheromones and stepped outside to get some air before the meeting began.
She hadn’t expected to encounter someone unexpected.
Nor did she expect to overhear an unexpected conversation.
Receiving no reply, the assistant only saw Pei Yunci’s gaze fixed in another direction.
Following the line of sight, he only saw two tall trees, already full of leaves, obstructing much of the view.
Confused, the assistant repeated, “CEO Pei?”
Pei Yunci hummed, retracted her gaze, and said, “Just give me the materials.”
She lowered her eyes, examining the newly added meeting documents for the afternoon, an unusual moment of distraction during work.
The other person seems to have just broken up?
She temporarily filed this thought away and followed the assistant into the conference room.
The collaboration involved multiple companies and a wide scope, with each party seeking their own interests. After four hours of meetings, little progress had been made.
Everyone present was feeling exhausted and took a break.
Pei Yunci took a small sip of water, briefly closing her eyes to relax and recover. Thanks to the temporary marking a few days ago, her scent gland was unusually calm compared to normal.
Collaborations are often like this: negotiations truly begin when everyone is exhausted.
As she slowly reviewed the missing points from the meeting, the phone placed next to her started to vibrate.
Pei Yunci opened her eyes and looked at the screen.
[Du Xing’an: Are you there? Are you there?]
[Du Xing’an: Didn’t I say a few days ago I’d help you find a new Alpha? I saw a suitable one today. Do you want to meet them?]
[Du Xing’an: Resume.pdf]
[Du Xing’an: I sent the file to you. You can take a look first. It has their personal info and photo.]
[Du Xing’an: She’s a student at Jiangcheng University, a senior, A-level pheromones, and even did volunteer work at a hospital before. Her conditions are all good, I think she’s quite suitable.]
[Du Xing’an: Honestly, young people have great conditions. There are several others who fit the bill. If you don’t like this one, I’ll set up the next one.]
Pei Yunci’s fingers moved slightly, and she replied with a message.
[Pei Yunci: No need.]
On the other side, Du Xing’an abruptly stood up from her chair.
A passing nurse blinked: “Doctor Du… what’s wrong?”
Du Xing’an forced a smile, which was clearly strained: “Nothing, you go back to work.”
After the nurse left, she began typing messages furiously.
[Du Xing’an: What do you mean ‘no need’? I worked so hard to find this for you!]
[Du Xing’an: I even typed all that out to introduce her to you, and you reply with only two words without even looking?!]
[Du Xing’an: You better give me an explanation, or else I’ll…]
[Du Xing’an: [knife][knife][knife][sinister smile][sinister smile]]
Pei Yunci: “…”
Normally, upon seeing this string of messages, she would simply swipe it away and pretend not to see it.
However, Pei Yunci was in a good mood and didn’t let the other party continue.
[Pei Yunci: I’ve already found someone.]
[Du Xing’an: ?]
[Du Xing’an: Who? Which Alpha? Did you find someone that quickly?]
[Du Xing’an: Can you please finish your thought in one message and send me this Alpha’s name! You’re killing me with suspense!]
[Pei Yunci: Fang Xu.]
When Du Xing’an saw the name, she was stunned for a moment because it was quite unfamiliar.
After a few moments of thought, she remembered who it was.
Her typing speed increased significantly again.
[Du Xing’an: No, she has a girlfriend! Why did you seriously go and steal someone’s lover!]
[Du Xing’an: Does that count as restricting civil liberties, is it illegal? Don’t turn into a jailbird!]
After this message was sent, Pei Yunci’s eyes were quiet for a moment.
I wonder if the other person is looking up the law or consulting a lawyer.
“…”
She wanted to tell the person to be normal. Before she could send the message, a new one popped up.
[Du Xing’an: Forget it, you’re not a fugitive, you should be able to handle it. Treat her well!]
[Pei Yunci: Heh, it’s a pity you didn’t major in comedy in college.]
[Pei Yunci: Don’t overthink it. She broke up with her girlfriend.]
The other side was briefly silent for two seconds.
[Du Xing’an: That’s despicable! You went for her right after the breakup!]
Pei Yunci put her phone down and closed her eyes.
Replying to the person’s first message was a mistake.
By the time the meeting ended, the parties still hadn’t reached a complete consensus.
It was early evening, and the sunset spread out in large swaths, painting the entire sky a beautiful orange-red.
Many students stopped on the road to take photos.
The assistant asked, “CEO Pei, should we return to the company now?”
Pei Yunci: “The online meeting with the international branch?”
Assistant: “Yes, starting at 8 PM.”
Pei Yunci thought for a moment: “I won’t return to the company for now. Please reschedule the online meeting for tomorrow.”
The assistant immediately responded, “Understood, CEO Pei.”
Pei Yunci looked at the students walking in groups ahead and asked, “Contact Fang Xu, the person I asked you to look up a few days ago.”
The assistant was highly professional and reacted quickly: “Should I schedule a meeting for today?”
Pei Yunci: “Never mind. Just give me her contact information. I’ll contact her myself.”
After talking with Song Shu, Fang Xu returned to the main plaza.
Even though she had cried and felt miserable when they first broke up, seeing the other person again still didn’t feel good.
Tang Xingxing saw her, examined her up and down for two seconds, and then asked, “Are you okay?”
Her expression was so serious that Fang Xu’s own mood lightened considerably: “I’m fine.”
Tang Xingxing asked again: “You didn’t get back together, did you?”
Liu Hanxue didn’t know the whole story but could guess the gist and looked over curiously.
Fang Xu gently shook her head, “No.”
Tang Xingxing let out a long sigh of relief: “That’s good. We can still be friends.”
Then, she said earnestly: “It’s not that I absolutely wanted to break you two up, but Song Shu really wasn’t good to you. Even as an outsider, I couldn’t stand it!”
“Also, when you went out last night, you must have gone to see Song Shu, right?”
That’s why she was particularly worried about them reconciling today.
Fang Xu thought of what Song Shu had said before leaving and softly replied: “Yes, I went to see her, but I think the two of us are done now.”
The reason she was able to maintain the relationship before was partly due to her affection, and partly out of gratitude for the help from Song Shu’s mother.
But everyone has dignity.
It was time to end what needed to end.
Tang Xingxing was completely relieved: “That settles it. No time like the present, why don’t we go out for dinner tonight?”
Liu Hanxue: “Sounds good, none of us have classes tonight, right?”
Fang Xu: “No, you two pick the place, my treat.”
This was something they had agreed upon at the hospital.
Tang Xingxing put her arms around both their shoulders, walking between them: “Then it’s settled!”
In the morning, they enjoyed the event for a while and even tried the latest gaming pod. Afterward, they attended their specialized classes.
In the evening, they ate at a hot pot restaurant for two hours.
“I’m so full!” Tang Xingxing exclaimed in satisfaction.
Liu Hanxue also nodded: “This hot pot place is truly a veteran, it’s genuinely delicious.”
There is a street next to Jiangcheng University mostly filled with snack shops. The shops often change, but the long-standing ones are always good.
Fang Xu walked slowly beside them, treating it as a post-meal stroll.
She hadn’t looked at her phone while eating, and only now did she discover a new message.
The moment she clicked it open, Fang Xu’s steps halted.
[Hello, I am Pei Yunci. If you have time recently, can we meet?]
