- Chapter 8 - Unspoken Rules
Zhang Weiyin kissed Qiao Jinyan’s hair and reached out to pull the strap of her dress on her shoulder.
Qiao Jinyan tilted her head away, without even any strength to resist.
She stared hard at a water stain on the wall, watching it gradually spread and turn a corner of the wall gray.
Her heart had died into a piece of gray.
The damp, disgusting kisses stuck to her face. The juices in Qiao Jinyan’s stomach churned violently.
Don’t think about it.
Don’t feel it.
She told herself.
“So many years, and you finally ended up in my hands,” Zhang Weiyin grabbed her hair tightly, pulling her head back to face her.
“Qiao the big star’s hair is really smooth. I had hair like this when I was young. Maybe I should cut your hair and make a wig,” Zhang Weiyin laughed as she pulled at Qiao Jinyan’s hair again.
A few strands were yanked out.
Qiao Jinyan felt pain and made muffled sounds.
This pervert, Qiao Jinyan cursed silently.
“That’s more like it. Don’t be like a dead person, silent all the time,” Zhang Weiyin sneered. Qiao Jinyan’s perfection made her want to destroy her. She was once a young and beautiful woman, but now she was old and faded.
When she first saw Qiao Jinyan, she felt both jealousy and admiration. She swore one day she would make Qiao Jinyan her possession and then slowly torture and destroy her.
Bang The door of the private room suddenly burst open. Luo Nianshu stumbled in.
Zhang Weiyin was stunned but quickly pushed Qiao Jinyan aside. She realized she had forgotten to lock the door.
“Director Zhang, bad news! The actors are fighting at the dinner table! It’s chaos! You need to come see!” Luo Nianshu urged.
“What?” Zhang Weiyin stood up, hesitating whether to follow.
She had finally gotten Qiao Jinyan today. Who knew just when she was about to succeed, someone else would ruin everything.
“Really! There’s blood! Reporters might come soon! Hurry!” Luo Nianshu pushed her.
Zhang Weiyin hesitated but decided to check it out. Not trusting completely, she squinted at Luo Nianshu: “You come with me.”
“Okay,” Luo Nianshu agreed, but her eyes shifted to Qiao Jinyan lying on the sofa with her clothes disheveled.
Zhang Weiyin noticed and stepped between Luo Nianshu and Qiao Jinyan: “Jinyan drank too much and is sleeping here. I’ll arrange for her later. You come with me now.”
Luo Nianshu nodded.
Zhang Weiyin carefully closed the private room door, then hurried downstairs with Luo Nianshu.
The dinner table was already in chaos tables smashed, chairs thrown, people fighting, shattered dishes and glass shards scattered.
Seeing Luo Nianshu was truthful, Zhang Weiyin felt relieved and squeezed into the crowd to mediate.
Luo Nianshu stood quietly in a corner, unnoticed, then quietly slipped into the hallway and quickly ran upstairs.
“Qiao Jinyan!”
The private room door was pushed open again. Qiao Jinyan couldn’t move and was unsure who came in. When she saw Luo Nianshu, she relaxed.
She swore she had never been happier to see Luo Nianshu than now.
“Save me… Luo Nianshu…” she said weakly.
Luo Nianshu was quick and skillful, fastening her dress straps, putting Qiao Jinyan’s hands on her shoulders, and carrying her out.
“Bag… bag…” Qiao Jinyan weakly called but couldn’t say more.
Luo Nianshu scolded impatiently, “What’s more important than your dignity at a time like this?”
“Bag… bag…” Qiao Jinyan insisted.
There was evidence in the bag.
Annoyed, Luo Nianshu turned around, grabbed the small black bag, weighed it a few times, adjusted Qiao Jinyan’s position on her back, and hurried out of the restaurant.
The streetlights outside were dim with almost no one around. Luo Nianshu carried Qiao Jinyan and ran toward the hospital.
Qiao Jinyan, sensing her plan, tried to remind her, “Don’t… go to the hospital…”
Luo Nianshu understood immediately. Going to the hospital without notice might attract paparazzi, offending Zhang Weiyin and damaging Qiao Jinyan’s reputation. So she changed direction toward a hotel where they stayed.
Qiao Jinyan’s whole body was burning hot like a heated iron. She was soaked in sweat, her head weakly hanging on Luo Nianshu’s neck.
Luo Nianshu was sweating too, but not from exhaustion she was burning because of Qiao Jinyan’s heat.
She had long helped others escape forced marriages and was used to running around. Carrying Qiao Jinyan, light as a feather, was no trouble at all.
“What kind of poison did that bastard old woman feed you?” Luo Nianshu angrily cursed, feeling a surge of fury seeing such a proud and dignified star reduced like this.
“You know…” Qiao Jinyan’s voice trailed off as the drug began to take effect.
She started rubbing her body against Luo Nianshu.
“Nianshu… save me… I feel… so… bad…” she whimpered.
Luo Nianshu stiffened, instantly realizing what Zhang Weiyin had done. Her hatred toward Zhang Weiyin deepened.
How dare she touch Qiao Jinyan!
Qiao Jinyan kissed Luo Nianshu’s hair and leaned back, almost falling off Luo Nianshu’s back.
Luo Nianshu gritted her teeth and lifted her higher, teasing, “Qiao Jinyan, you don’t like women, right? Don’t be so desperate.”
But Qiao Jinyan’s mind was foggy, and teasing didn’t work. She grabbed Luo Nianshu’s arm tightly and began crying.
“Nianshu, I can’t hold it… help me…” she pleaded.
Luo Nianshu put Qiao Jinyan down gently, but she weakly slid to the grass and tried to touch herself.
Luo Nianshu’s eyes flickered, grabbing her hand firmly. She wouldn’t let her do that.
She was Qiao Jinyan, a goddess to hundreds of millions. Luo Nianshu would never let her ruin herself.
“Nianshu…” Qiao Jinyan looked at her painfully, with some hatred in her eyes, “…it’s for you… you owe me…”
Luo Nianshu didn’t understand what she meant and had no time to think about it.
She cupped Qiao Jinyan’s face and forced her to look into her eyes.
“Hey,” Luo Nianshu said softly, “Qiao Jinyan, you are Qiao Jinyan, the hottest female star now. You can do this, right?”
Qiao Jinyan opened her hazy eyes and looked at her.
“You can do it, right?” Luo Nianshu became serious and urgent.
Qiao Jinyan weakly nodded, unclear if she understood.
Luo Nianshu lifted her back up.
This time, Qiao Jinyan was much more obedient.
After a few steps, Qiao Jinyan, unable to bear the pain, bit Luo Nianshu’s shoulder.
Luo Nianshu screamed in pain, looked back at her and smiled bitterly, “Fine, just let you bite.”
After an unknown amount of time, the two finally returned to the hotel.
Luo Nianshu dragged the limp Qiao Jinyan to the bathroom, forced her mouth open, and pressed the back of a toothbrush into her tongue.
“Gag” Qiao Jinyan choked.
“Be obedient. I’ll get some cool water. You try to spit the drug out,” Luo Nianshu stroked her head and then let go.
Without Luo Nianshu’s support, Qiao Jinyan immediately collapsed by the sink.
“I’m… hot… so hot…”
Luo Nianshu was anxious and quickly turned the water temperature down, starting to fill the bathtub.
Qiao Jinyan collapsed to the floor again. Luo Nianshu bent down, helping her spit out the drug with the toothbrush.
After several rounds, Qiao Jinyan finally vomited.
“Better?” Luo Nianshu asked.
Qiao Jinyan weakly nodded.
Luo Nianshu washed her face, rinsed her mouth with water, then carried her into the bathtub.
The bathtub water was icy cold. Luo Nianshu shivered, but Qiao Jinyan had no reaction. The cold water relieved her burning body.
Qiao Jinyan’s lips moved slightly, murmuring something.
Luo Nianshu leaned closer to listen.
“For you… Luo Nianshu…”
“…it’s for you… Luo Nianshu…”
Luo Nianshu was confused and tried to stand but Qiao Jinyan grabbed her arm tightly and wouldn’t let go.
Normally Qiao Jinyan should be weak, but her grip was strong like a crab’s claw.
“I’ll get a towel. You behave,” Luo Nianshu tried to brush her hand off but failed.
She squatted down, letting Qiao Jinyan close her eyes and lean on her.
She touched Qiao Jinyan’s forehead and sighed in relief — her temperature had finally dropped.
Qiao Jinyan’s face dripped water drops, her expression calm without any pride. Her soaked clothes puffed out, revealing a large patch of skin at the collar.
Finally able to breathe, Luo Nianshu glanced at Qiao Jinyan’s collar and her eyes darkened instantly.
She swallowed hard, irritably scratching her head and turning away from the tempting sight.
The next morning, Qiao Jinyan woke up dazed and saw Luo Nianshu sleeping by the bathtub.
She rubbed her throbbing head, memories from last night slowly returning.
Luo Nianshu was awakened by her movement, splashing water as she sat up.
The bath water had nearly warmed.
Qiao Jinyan was now fully awake, her eyes clear again.
“Bag?” she asked.
“Bag, bag, always caring about material things,” Luo Nianshu answered irritably, “It’s on the bed outside.”
Qiao Jinyan seemed relieved and tried to stand by supporting herself on the bathtub, but her legs gave out and she slipped back in.
Luo Nianshu sighed and picked her up, supporting the soaking wet Qiao Jinyan out.
She asked, “How do you plan to deal with that bastard Zhang Weiyin?”
Qiao Jinyan shook her head: “She’s not someone you or I can afford to provoke.”
“So just let her bully you?” Luo Nianshu didn’t believe Qiao Jinyan could suppress her anger.
But this time Qiao Jinyan was calm: “Just tell Molly everything. We don’t need to handle the rest.”
“Alright, but I believe evil will be punished,” Luo Nianshu shrugged.
Qiao Jinyan was silent. She gently wiped her wet hair with a towel and suddenly sneezed loudly.
Luo Nianshu was startled, thinking the cold bath might get her sick.
Sure enough, Qiao Jinyan glared at her with almond eyes and kicked her toe: “Medicine.”
“Yes, yes,” Luo Nianshu hurried to pour hot water and handed her some cold medicine.
Qiao Jinyan swallowed the pills and handed her the empty cup.
Though anyone who had been through this would look miserable, Qiao Jinyan still acted gracefully, as if nothing had happened.
“I’m tired, going to sleep,” Qiao Jinyan said and slipped into the quilt, her wet body quickly soaking the bedding. She picked up her black bag and placed it beside her.
Luo Nianshu touched her nose: “Then I’ll leave.”
“Stay here and guard the door. Thirty million,” Qiao Jinyan ordered.
Guard the door?
Am I a guard dog?
Luo Nianshu was angry, about to leave, but heard Qiao Jinyan call again.
“Thirty million.”
Luo Nianshu: “…”
She dared not say another word, turning her back and sitting angrily on the bed.
