After The Forced Marriage, I Ended Up With The Top Celebrity - Chapter 6
Inside the hospital.
The sharp smell of disinfectant stung Qiao Jinyan’s sensitive breath. The soft white walls looked glaringly bright in the dim hallway.
Maybe it was psychological, but Qiao Jinyan felt the corridor was much colder than outside.
She tugged at her clothes.
A small spark lit up; Qiao Jinyan skillfully took out a cigarette and put it in her mouth, taking a deep drag.
Molly was surprised and reminded her, “Yan Yan, this is a hospital.”
Only then did Qiao Jinyan realize what she had done. She hurriedly put out the cigarette butt on the iron chair in the hallway.
To maintain her good image as a female star, she had quit smoking for many years. Only when under extreme stress would she sneak one or two cigarettes in her bedroom. Otherwise, she rarely touched them.
Today, somehow, she unconsciously smoked.
Molly patted her shoulder comfortingly, “Don’t worry, Luo Nianshu won’t be hurt.”
Worried about Luo Nianshu?
“I’m not worried about her.” Qiao Jinyan’s expression stiffened as she replied, “Why should I be worried about her? She’s just a woman who makes a living by helping others run away from marriage with such despicable methods, and I’m a big star the one whose fiancé she stole. One is in heaven, the other underground. I wouldn’t care about such a person.”
Yet, even she didn’t know whether she said that to Molly or to herself.
The moment she held the unresponsive Luo Nianshu, she shivered all over.
How ridiculous. For Luo Nianshu? For this third party who stole her fiancé, she actually shivered.
Qiao Jinyan, fearless of heaven and earth, could do such a ridiculous thing.
“The patient’s family member?” The doctor pushed open the door and came out.
“It’s me.” Qiao Jinyan stood up sharply and answered without thinking.
Molly: “…” Weren’t you saying you don’t care? Weren’t you saying one’s in heaven and one’s underground?
“The patient is fine. Just rest and recuperate for a few days.”
Molly saw Qiao Jinyan’s tense shoulders relax, as if a heavy mountain had been lifted off. Then, Qiao Jinyan pushed open the ward door and went inside.
Luo Nianshu had regained consciousness, lying in bed covering her mouth as she yawned. Seeing Qiao Jinyan come in, she winked at her “Good evening, goddess.”
She smiled, as if nothing terrifying had happened just now.
Seeing her carefree attitude, Qiao Jinyan felt a complicated emotion she couldn’t describe.
“You idiot,” she said softly, forcing a smile.
Maybe because it was too cold, Qiao Jinyan couldn’t help but sniffle, her eyes reddening.
Even at this moment, she could still smile. This woman was truly an idiot.
“I’m the one who saved you, so please don’t scold me right now.” Luo Nianshu stretched lazily. “Or I’ll regret saving you.”
Qiao Jinyan didn’t retort but sat beside the bed with a sulky face.
“I said, goddess, can you waive my thirty million debt for tonight’s trouble?”
“Getting splashed with a bucket of paint and asking to offset thirty million? Then I must be losing money on this deal, I might as well just keep the bucket myself.”
She wants to leave her?
This thought inexplicably made Qiao Jinyan hold her breath.
“Don’t, don’t! If photos of you covered in paint get taken by the paparazzi, your reputation this lifetime will be ruined, right?”
Qiao Jinyan snorted and softened her expression slightly: “Good, you know now.”
Suddenly she reached out to wipe Luo Nianshu’s nose tip. Luo Nianshu instinctively pulled back: “What are you doing?”
Qiao Jinyan paused and looked up at her: “Paint.”
Luo Nianshu looked down and noticed a bit of paint left on her nose tip.
“Hehe, then I’ll trouble you.” Luo Nianshu no longer resisted, bringing her face closer to Qiao Jinyan.
Qiao Jinyan gently wiped off the paint on her nose tip with her finger.
Luo Nianshu yawned again. “Goddess, you should go first. Today was really exhausting. I need to rest.”
“Surely you’ll spare me tonight.” Luo Nianshu winked. “There’s no pot noodles here.”
“Hmm, you sleep. I’ll leave in a while.” Qiao Jinyan’s voice was calm.
“You being here makes me unable to sleep…”
“Are you going to sleep or not?” came a cold voice.
Luo Nianshu: “…” How can this person flip her mood faster than flipping a book?
Reluctantly adjusting the pillow, Luo Nianshu curled up on the soft bed and closed her eyes.
She thought having Qiao Jinyan nearby would be very stressful, but this woman’s presence actually made her feel at ease. She must have been too tired and fainted.
Luo Nianshu quietly dismissed the thought and fell into a deep sleep.
Qiao Jinyan looked at Luo Nianshu sleeping and leaning on her leg, a look of disdain on her face as she used a tissue to wipe away the drool at the corner of Luo Nianshu’s mouth.
“Mm…” Luo Nianshu murmured something in her sleep.
“Goddess… don’t…”
Luo Nianshu frowned in her dream.
She frowned? Was she having a nightmare?
Qiao Jinyan’s brows furrowed too.
She even called her name was she her nightmare?
Thinking of this, Qiao Jinyan felt a surge of anger. Luo Nianshu was clearly her nightmare, so why was she the nightmare for Luo Nianshu?
If anyone should have nightmares, it should be her first.
Qiao Jinyan angrily pushed Luo Nianshu away from her leg, but Luo Nianshu, restless in her sleep, tangled herself around her like an octopus again.
“Don’t…” the murmuring came again.
Does she not want her to leave?
Qiao Jinyan raised an eyebrow and didn’t pull away.
Luo Nianshu slept like a baby, half curled up, and Qiao Jinyan threaded her fingers through Luo Nianshu’s soft hair, gently stroking.
The knocking sound came. Molly peeked her head in from outside. Qiao Jinyan quickly withdrew her hand and sat upright by the bed.
Molly gave Qiao Jinyan a look, and she immediately understood, getting up and following her out.
“Did you find out?”
In the hallway, Qiao Jinyan asked.
“Yes. The man in black claimed to be one of your anti-fans. He has been lurking near the set these days, waiting for the right time to attack you.”
Qiao Jinyan frowned, “Do you think it’s that simple?”
Molly shook her head. “I think it’s suspicious. The security near the set is very strict; an anti-fan wouldn’t get in so easily. You should be extra careful. I’ll have someone investigate.”
“Let me know immediately when you find out.” Qiao Jinyan sneered, “I’ll personally deal with the mastermind.”
After Molly left, Qiao Jinyan sat on the iron chair in the hallway and opened the news on Weibo. Sure enough, the anti-fan attack had already spread wildly online, causing a mess.
Netizens’ comments:
Netizen A: Is the director’s security staff incompetent? How could they let an anti-fan in?
Netizen B: Feel sorry for the sister. Hope she’s not hurt.
Netizen C: Luckily her assistant blocked it. So loyal! The studio should give her a bonus!
Netizen D: I’m not usually into conspiracy theories, but I think this has something to do with Qiao Jinyan’s ex-boyfriend Wang Xu.
Netizen F: Interesting, today I didn’t see Netizen E commenting.
Could it be as the netizens guessed, that Wang Xu was behind this?
Qiao Jinyan’s face darkened. She opened her Weibo and posted:
Thank you all for your concern. Thanks to my assistant, I wasn’t hurt. I’m very angry about this anti-fan incident and will investigate it thoroughly.
The next morning, Luo Nianshu woke up to see Qiao Jinyan’s enlarged face right in front of her.
Startled, Luo Nianshu backed up and sat upright, then patted her chest: “Please, big star, don’t scare me so early in the morning.”
Qiao Jinyan snorted, crossed her arms, and sat up straight, kicking several shopping bags on the floor: “Molly bought you some new clothes. Change into them when you have time. You probably didn’t bring much since you left in a hurry.”
That bucket of paint was specially formulated and hard to wash off. The clothes Luo Nianshu was wearing were basically ruined.
This woman could be so considerate sometimes?
Luo Nianshu bent down to open the bags and glanced inside, then suddenly lifted her skirt to reveal black underwear.
Qiao Jinyan instantly turned pale and angrily turned away: “What are you doing?!”
Luo Nianshu was stunned by the scolding, looking confused: “Taking off my clothes? How else am I supposed to change into the clothes you bought me?”
“Can’t you wait until I leave?” This shameless person.
“Women have nothing to be ashamed of.” Luo Nianshu ignored her and quickly stripped, then put on a T-shirt.
The rustling of fabric came from behind. Qiao Jinyan felt her head swell. How could there be such a shameless person?
“You didn’t buy me new underwear to change into.”
Qiao Jinyan: “…”
“I don’t know your size.”
Luo Nianshu: “Nonsense. You’ve hugged me; can’t you tell roughly?”
Qiao Jinyan: “…”
Luo Nianshu: “Forget it, I have a small chest. Wearing or not, it’s the same. Let it be.”
Qiao Jinyan: “…”
Luo Nianshu: “Why aren’t you responding?”
Qiao Jinyan: “…”
At this moment, Qiao Jinyan’s face and neck were flushed red with heat. She regretted delivering the clothes herself. She should have let Molly do it.
“All right, I’m done changing.” Luo Nianshu shrugged.
Qiao Jinyan finally turned around.
The loose clothing hung on Luo Nianshu’s slender frame, the chest area especially baggy.
Qiao Jinyan looked down at her own curvy figure, then at Luo Nianshu, and mercilessly said, “Flat as a bean sprout.”
Luo Nianshu: “…” That was too direct.
“By the way, when can I be discharged?” Luo Nianshu was already tired of the hospital, though she’d only stayed one night.
“You can be discharged now.”
Luo Nianshu was delighted and got up to leave.
“Wait.” Qiao Jinyan called after her, pulling out a long list from her bag. She wrote a few words on it before handing it over. “This is a list. You have time tomorrow to buy everything on it.”
Luo Nianshu was shocked. “Goddess, I’m a patient. I just got discharged today.”
“That’s why you have a day off today.”
“After all, I fainted because of you, right?”
Qiao Jinyan took out the medical report from the doctor and showed it: “The doctor said your fainting was just low blood sugar yesterday, nothing to do with the paint bucket.”
Luo Nianshu: “…” This woman was so cold-hearted.
Luo Nianshu grabbed the list and crumpled it roughly into her pocket, then quickly walked out, not wanting to be alone with Qiao Jinyan any longer.
Because Luo Nianshu had long legs, her steps were big and quick. Soon, she was outside the hospital at the mall.
She looked back once: Qiao Jinyan hadn’t followed.
Good that she didn’t. Luo Nianshu rolled her eyes in her heart: Nothing good will come from being with that old fox.
She stood at the mall entrance, took out the list from her pocket, and read aloud, word by word:
Milk.
Sunglasses.
Sunscreen.
And also…
Luo Nianshu was stunned.
Medical alcohol.
Glucose.
She was confused about those words.
Were these for her?
Her gaze continued downward, and she saw Qiao Jinyan’s handwritten note:
A cup underwear.
With a “boom,” Luo Nianshu’s mind exploded like a volcano, turning her entire face bright red.
Damn it! That old fox had really figured out her “size”!
