Chapter 57: Meeting, Meeting
In the film studio.
As soon as Shen Yu finished a scene, Yu Yan quickly put a thick down jacket on her.
The scenes being shot were not set in winter, so the actors just had to endure the cold.
Yu Yan handed Shen Yu a cup of hot water to warm her hands. “Boss, how much more shooting tonight?”
“Almost done, two more scenes,” Shen Yu said. “If you’re not feeling well, you should head back first.”
Yu Yan shook her head. “I’m not unwell. I was just asking.”
Shen Yu gave her a long look, then simply said, “Give me your phone.”
Yu Yan quickly handed it over. With people still around, she vaguely said, “…There were messages, but I didn’t check them.”
Shen Yu took the phone and looked at Wen Xi’s daily updates, the corner of her mouth involuntarily turning up.
S: “Be good.”
At this moment, Shen Yu didn’t know that the person she called ‘be good’ was sitting on her hotel sofa, frantically catching up on image editing.
The bouquet was placed right next to her laptop, vibrant and beautiful.
She had her informants; Yu Yan and Ke Han both knew she had arrived, so Wen Xi knew exactly when Shen Yu would be back.
As soon as Shen Yu got on the hotel elevator, Ke Han and Yu Yan found excuses to go their separate ways.
Shen Yu looked at their unusual reactions, a guess forming in her heart, though she wasn’t sure.
Someone was so busy, she had to remind her to get off work and eat, and her messages had been increasingly delayed lately.
Thinking this, Shen Yu took out the room card and swiped the sensor switch.
The room was dark, but a faint, subtle fragrance suddenly filled the air.
Shen Yu stood still for two seconds, then let out a soft laugh.
In the quiet environment, her heart sounded too loud.
She closed the door, and the room instantly became dim.
It seemed to happen in an instant: a bouquet with a damp and cold, crisp fragrance fell into her arms. The sound of the wrapping paper was clearly loud, yet for some reason, the other person’s voice was even clearer.
“Guess who I am?”
The person suddenly jumped onto her back. Afraid she would fall, Shen Yu carefully placed the flowers on the console in the entryway, relying on memory. Only then were her hands free to support Wen Xi’s legs. She said helplessly, “Be careful.”
Wen Xi wrapped her hands around Shen Yu’s neck. “You still haven’t said it. Who am I?”
Shen Yu leaned her head against Wen Xi’s hand, a sense of longing in the gesture. She whispered, “You are my baby, my darling… my Xixi.”
Shen Yu’s voice at this moment was like a feather, brushing past Wen Xi’s ear.
Wen Xi felt a little embarrassed.
She lowered her head and laughed a few times. “You’re so sweet. I’ll say you guessed right.”
With that, she lightly patted Shen Yu’s back, signaling Shen Yu to put her down.
Shen Yu pretended not to understand Wen Xi’s intention and walked around the dark room with Wen Xi on her back.
Wen Xi quietly exclaimed, “Put me down! The lights aren’t on, be careful.”
Shen Yu laughed softly. Her eyesight was excellent. She could see the path clearly just by the moonlight filtering through the window.
She placed Wen Xi on the bed, then turned around, placed her hands on either side of Wen Xi, knelt between Wen Xi’s legs, and leaned slightly over her. Her gaze brushed Wen Xi’s face, finally settling on her lips.
In the darkness, Shen Yu’s aggressive gaze was well-hidden.
Wen Xi felt the familiar sense of pressure. She pressed her fingertips against Shen Yu’s shoulder. “What are you doing?”
“Baby,” Shen Yu’s voice was low and deep. “…I miss you so much.”
The next second, a gentle and longing kiss landed on Wen Xi’s lips. The kiss was filled with restraint and an inexpressible depth of love.
Someone was secretly bringing her a surprise.
Wen Xi was her surprise.
When they finally broke apart, Wen Xi was completely weak, and only Shen Yu holding her prevented her from collapsing.
Wen Xi pushed Shen Yu’s hand. “Take it out.”
While they were kissing, Shen Yu’s hand had slipped under her clothes.
Shen Yu laughed, kissed Wen Xi again, then finally got up and turned on the lights.
She also picked up the flowers from the entryway.
“Why did you suddenly come here?” Once the lights were on, the two, who hadn’t seen each other for a long time, couldn’t help but cling to each other again. “Isn’t work busy?”
Shen Yu held Wen Xi’s hand, leading her to sit on the sofa next to her.
Wen Xi watched Shen Yu take out her phone and take a picture of the flowers she had given her.
It perfectly fit the internet phrase: The phone gets the first look.
“It is busy,” Wen Xi rested her head on Shen Yu’s shoulder. “But I was afraid someone would miss me and not say anything, so I moved my filming work up. The rest is just image editing, which I can do from home.”
“Is it me who missed you, or you who missed me?” Shen Yu asked, turning her head to place another kiss on Wen Xi’s forehead.
“Who knows,” Wen Xi said. “I don’t know, but someone just said they missed me a lot.”
“It was me who missed you,” Shen Yu’s eyes held a doting look. “I missed you so much I couldn’t sleep well. Thank you for making the effort to come see me, Baby.”
After they indulged in sweet talk for a while, Shen Yu ordered a few vases via delivery, hoping the flowers Wen Xi gave her would last a few more days.
The flowers had a very cool and crisp scent, but after smelling it for a long time, the fragrance became soft, lingering around her nose, much like Wen Xi.
“Oh, right,” Wen Xi said as if it were an afterthought. “There’s a card on the flowers.”
Shen Yu’s breathing subtly deepened. She lowered her eyes and gave a helpless smile.
It was known within the industry that Shen Yu had a peculiar habit: bouquets sent to her should not contain greeting cards. Even among fans, they knew this, and whenever someone asked, the popular fan accounts would only explain that Shen Yu’s studio requested it, but no one knew the reason.
Fans would probably complain about this strange habit, wondering why someone would dislike a card in a bouquet—it was so unromantic.
Wen Xi, naturally, knew this. And she knew the reason all too well.
It was because of that card years ago that contained the breakup notice, which left too deep an impression.
Opening the card full of joy, only to find a breakup notice.
“Open it and take a look,” Wen Xi shook Shen Yu’s hand. “Go on, look.”
Shen Yu looked at Wen Xi beside her, thinking, She is so good at acting spoiled.
Shen Yu raised her hand and stroked the top of Wen Xi’s head. All the thousands of words in her heart condensed into one good feeling.
Shen Yu carefully picked up the card and opened it.
Just a few short lines, but Shen Yu read it over and over again.
“I want to hear you say it in person,” Shen Yu suddenly said.
“Say what?”
“Say, ‘I love you’.”
Sometimes Wen Xi felt that Shen Yu needed to be coaxed, too. No matter how powerful or globally adored she was outside, once she was in front of Wen Xi, all her defenses seemed to crumble, leaving only a passionate heart laid bare before Wen Xi, holding nothing back.
In front of Wen Xi, Shen Yu could be vulnerable, admitting her hardships and exhaustion.
“I love you,” Wen Xi smiled, looking up and kissing Shen Yu. “Shen Yu, I love you.”
“How long can you stay?” Shen Yu asked, sending a small red envelope to Yu Yan right after.
“About two weeks,” Wen Xi replied.
By this time, Wen Xi and Shen Yu had finished tidying up and were lying in bed.
“You can stay that long?” Shen Yu was happy, but then she remembered something. “So, that’s why you were so busy before.”
“I wasn’t busy,” Wen Xi shook her head, burrowing into Shen Yu’s chest, inhaling Shen Yu’s scent. “It wasn’t that busy.”
Wen Xi was able to eat on time. Compared to her previous life of working day and night, it was really not busy at all.
Shen Yu hugged Wen Xi tightly. “Will you be bored during the day? Do you want to come visit the set?”
“No,” Wen Xi refused quickly. “Too many people.”
“Then I’ll leave Yu Yan with you,” Shen Yu compromised slightly. “If you get bored, let her take you out for a walk.”
“Okay,” Wen Xi was now facing Shen Yu sideways. They were close, and the winter quilt was especially warm. “Just like you said before, you go filming, and I’ll work in the hotel and wait for you to come back.”
Wen Xi thought she saw Shen Yu’s pupils tremble slightly, then her eyes curved into a slight smile. “You still remember.”
“Every word you said,” Wen Xi met Shen Yu’s gaze. “I remember.”
“Your memory is that good?” Shen Yu’s hand stroked Wen Xi’s waist.
“…Not really,” Wen Xi paused. “Only the old memories are clear.”
When her memory was bad, she could forget what happened yesterday, but at the same time, the old memories became clearer in her mind.
“Mhm,” Shen Yu felt the smooth, delicate touch beneath her hand. “In these past few weeks, has she appeared?”
“Who?” Wen Xi, who had been holding Shen Yu’s arm, momentarily lost her grip because Shen Yu’s touch tickled her too much. When Shen Yu asked this, she lost her strength. “Who appeared?”
Shen Yu held Wen Xi close in her arms, kissing Wen Xi’s ear. “Perhaps… the other me?”
Wen Xi’s breathing hitched.
Shen Yu didn’t speak again, only continued to soothe Wen Xi, her gentle kisses falling on Wen Xi constantly.
When the kisses reached her neck, Wen Xi instinctively shrank away. She didn’t lift her head, her voice carrying a light laugh. “How did you know?”
