Chapter 52.1: Clingy Couple
The two embraced at the bedroom door, utterly inseparable.
Shen Yu tucked Wen Xi’s hair behind her ear and pinched Wen Xi’s cheek. “Go wash up. I’ll make you hangover soup.”
“Then I want it a little sweet!” Wen Xi insisted.
Shen Yu agreed.
During this time, Shen Yu had stocked the kitchen and refrigerator with quite a few items.
She took out some ginger, preparing to boil honey ginger water.
In less than ten minutes, just as Shen Yu poured the hangover soup into a bowl, a pair of arms reached around her waist from behind.
The person carried a fresh scent and rested her head on Shen Yu’s shoulder.
“Chef Shen is so good at cooking,” Wen Xi praised.
“Stop messing around,” Shen Yu gripped Wen Xi’s hand. When she turned around, she couldn’t help but frown: “It’s getting cold. Don’t wear so little.”
Wen Xi paused, looked down at her pajamas for the day—they were long-sleeved, but very thin and also form-fitting.
The top had a low collar, making her clearly defined collarbones particularly noticeable.
But before Wen Xi could say anything, Shen Yu had already walked past her into the bedroom and draped a jacket over Wen Xi’s shoulders.
Only then was Shen Yu satisfied. She filled the bowl with hangover soup and handed it to Wen Xi. “Drink it.”
Wen Xi: “…”
Wen Xi drank the hangover soup with a gloomy look.
Shen Yu smiled and ruffled Wen Xi’s hair. “Go brush your teeth. Rest when you’re done. I haven’t showered yet.”
Wen Xi raised an eyebrow. “Why not together?”
Shen Yu asked, “Together what?”
“…Together in the bathroom,” Wen Xi leaned close to Shen Yu and whispered in her ear, looking up, “Don’t worry, I’ll just brush my teeth honestly. I won’t look around.”
Shen Yu couldn’t help but grip Wen Xi’s waist. “It’s very late. Go brush your teeth quickly.”
Wen Xi, rejected yet again, inwardly cried buckets of blood.
While brushing her teeth, she stared glumly at her reflection in the mirror. Did she really have no charm left?
Wen Xi finished brushing her teeth and applied several skincare products to her face.
When Shen Yu came out of the bathroom, she saw Wen Xi lying on the bed, curled up in a ball, with her back to her.
Shen Yu called out, “Baby.”
Wen Xi slowly wiggled to the other side, making room for Shen Yu.
Shen Yu: “…”
She smiled helplessly, turned off the bedroom light, and switched on the small bedside lamp.
She then got into bed and effortlessly pulled Wen Xi into her arms, turning her around so they were facing each other.
Seeing Wen Xi’s gloominess, Shen Yu put aside her teasing thoughts and lowered her head to kiss Wen Xi’s lips. “Nothing is prepared yet. Don’t rush.”
Wen Xi responded with a kiss and then said, still in a slightly bad mood, “What needs to be prepared?”
After saying this, Wen Xi rapid-fired a few terms.
Wen Xi looked up at Shen Yu. Her eyes were still bright in the dim light.
“I don’t need any of that. I only want you. Having you is enough.”
Shen Yu’s hand on Wen Xi’s waist suddenly tightened.
Wen Xi was still in a daze. She grabbed Shen Yu’s hand and shoved it directly inside her pajamas.
Shen Yu could feel Wen Xi’s delicate skin, but moving up—
Shen Yu’s voice was husky. “Baby.”
“What’s wrong?” Wen Xi leaned a little closer to Shen Yu.
Shen Yu seemed to take a deep breath. Her voice was the kind Wen Xi liked. “I want to kiss you.”
Wen Xi couldn’t help but smile slightly. “Why is there a preview for a kiss?”
Wen Xi was still smiling when, the next second, a strong, urgent kiss aggressively swept over, taking Wen Xi’s breath away. For a moment, Wen Xi felt she was drowning in the ocean named Shen Yu.
After a long time, Shen Yu finally pulled back a bit. Both of their breathing was heavy. “Baby, why didn’t you change your breath?”
Wen Xi’s eyes seemed unfocused. “You… you didn’t give me a chance.”
Shen Yu pressed her forehead against Wen Xi’s. “Then I’ll try to give you a chance next time.”
With that, Shen Yu lifted the corner of Wen Xi’s top and lowered her head to kiss her neck, slowly moving down. When she reached Wen Xi’s collarbone, she felt Wen Xi shiver all over.
“So sensitive,” Shen Yu chuckled.
Wen Xi’s ears were intensely red. She raised her hand, wanting to pull off Shen Yu’s clothes too, but after trying several times, her hand lacked the strength.
Shen Yu held Wen Xi’s hand and said, “I’ll do it.”
The next moment, warm lips were pressed against Wen Xi again. Something between the two of them had changed.
Wen Xi could only focus on the sensation Shen Yu gave her, trembling slightly. She felt as if every patch of skin Shen Yu touched was on fire.
An unknown amount of time passed. Wen Xi’s consciousness floated on the water surface again, drifting continuously.
She rose and fell with the fluctuation of the water current.
Wen Xi constantly bit down on her fingers, and the occasional sounds that escaped her were like the soft meows of a kitten.
A thin layer of sweat formed on her skin.
Wen Xi took a moment to recover, sat up, and placed the pillow behind her. She tugged at Shen Yu, urging her to come closer.
At this moment, Wen Xi was completely unaware of how she looked—her eyes slightly red, and her lips a beautiful, tempting shade.
Shen Yu seemed utterly bewitched, kneeling and moving forward a few steps.
Wen Xi whispered, “I want a kiss.”
Kissing is the most common way for couples to express affection.
As their breaths intertwined, the other person’s scent enveloped her.
Noses were slightly turned away, kissing reached zero distance.
But at that moment, a wire snapped tight in Shen Yu’s mind.
She gently held Wen Xi’s right fingertips, slightly startled. “What’s wrong?”
Wen Xi licked her lip. “I… I want you to feel good too.”
Wen Xi looked at Shen Yu and sighed silently.
Shen Yu said, “Rest your hand well. I’ll take care of you.”
Wen Xi looked up at Shen Yu. Shen Yu took her hand, and a gentle kiss landed on the injury in her palm.
Wen Xi flinched slightly.
She heard Shen Yu say, “Are you tired? If not…”
The next morning, when Shen Yu woke up, Wen Xi was still fast asleep, so she picked up her phone and sent a message to Pu Tao asking for leave.
Things had gotten quite late last night. After it ended, Shen Yu had held Wen Xi and taken a shower.
Shen Yu was only awake now because of her long-established biological clock.
Shen Yu held her phone, thought for a few seconds, then tossed the phone back onto the nightstand, and cuddled Wen Xi for a second sleep.
Wen Xi was half-asleep and mumbled a few words. She hugged Shen Yu’s waist, rested her head on Shen Yu’s arm, moved a little, and found a comfortable position.
Shen Yu chuckled, leaning close to Wen Xi and closing her eyes.
When Wen Xi opened her eyes, she was still in Shen Yu’s arms. She felt completely comfortable now, though the memory of last night still made her blush a little, so she buried her head back into Shen Yu’s embrace.
Shen Yu leaned close to Wen Xi and said, “It’s eleven o’clock. Shall we go out to eat?”
Wen Xi’s eyes widened immediately. She retreated slightly from Shen Yu’s arms. “That late?”
After Wen Xi sat up, Shen Yu didn’t stay lying down either. She pulled Wen Xi’s loose pajamas higher. “Is work urgent?”
“Ah… not really,” Wen Xi said remorsefully. “It’s just too late.”
“I asked your assistant for leave,” Shen Yu said. “If work isn’t urgent, don’t push yourself too hard.”
“If you say so,” Wen Xi smiled slightly. “It’s a good thing I’m the boss, or my perfect attendance bonus would be long gone.”
Shen Yu, with her deep pockets, declared: “I’ll make up for the perfect attendance bonus.”
After the two got up, Shen Yu drove Wen Xi to an outside restaurant for lunch, and after lunch, she drove Wen Xi back to her studio.
Shen Yu said, “I’ll pick you up after work this afternoon.”
Wen Xi: “Okay.”
Shen Yu was on break during this period and didn’t have an assistant arranged with her. Since there were many people around, Shen Yu didn’t get out of the car, but they were still photographed.
Not long after Wen Xi settled at her desk, Pu Tao knocked on the office door.
Wen Xi opened her computer and plugged in her USB drive. “What’s up?”
“Nothing, I just came to check on my boss!” Pu Tao said. “It was Ms. Shen Yu who sent me the message this morning!”
“Oh, I was still asleep. She saw I was too tired and didn’t wake me,” Wen Xi took out her drawing tablet, opened the previous file, and started editing the image. “The last few days have been really tiring, but the pay is also high.”
“Your Weibo followers have increased quite a bit,” Pu Tao said. “They’ve gone up by about 300,000!”
“Oh, the production team said they’d calculate and send over the live stream tipping revenue split in a few days,” Pu Tao mentioned.
Wen Xi frowned. “Tipping? What tipping?”
Pu Tao said, “You didn’t read the contract carefully again.”
Saying that, she went out and found the contract they signed a few days ago.
Pu Tao pointed out the clause to Wen Xi. “It’s written here. Because you have some reputation, they probably added this clause specifically for you. The tips can be directed to you, and the money also goes to you.”
“What do I need tips for,” Wen Xi said, getting a headache. “Can this be refunded?”
She generally didn’t read contracts; the studio also had legal staff.
Tipping, to others, was a way to make money, but Wen Xi personally felt that she didn’t need tips. This was someone else’s main event, and the photographer shouldn’t have anything to do with it.
She wasn’t like a celebrity; she had no reason to accept this tipping money.
She couldn’t give her fans anything in return, besides discounts on photography services, so she shouldn’t take this tipping money.
But she couldn’t blame anyone since she didn’t read the contract.
Pu Tao hummed. “Probably not. The contract is already signed.”
Wen Xi then said, “Then see if you can get an itemized list of the tips from the production team. I’ll refund them individually.”
Pu Tao nodded and said okay.
Before Pu Tao left, Wen Xi stopped her. “Help me coordinate to see if we can move up the civilian photography work scheduled for the next few weeks.”
Wen Xi’s work was usually split about fifty-fifty between civilian and commercial collaborations. Civilian work could mostly be rescheduled earlier, but some celebrity and film crew schedules were already set and hard to move up. Wen Xi figured she could just travel back and forth then.
“Got it, Boss. Going on a business trip again?” Pu Tao asked.
Wen Xi thought about the start date for Shen Yu’s new drama and smiled on the surface: “Something like that.”
Clingy is clingy, Wen Xi felt Shen Yu quite enjoyed her being clingy to her.
“Oh, the magazine is about to go on sale!” Pu Tao leaned her head in the office door. “Boss, can you help me get an autographed copy from Ms. Shen Yu?”
“Didn’t you two add each other as friends? Go ask her yourself,” Wen Xi looked up at her.
