- Chapter 20 - Heartwarming Moments
“What? One kiss and you are not jealous anymore?”
Han Yan lay prone on the bed, boredly picking up a small square from the crate to fiddle with in his hand. Soon, a sturdy body draped itself over him. Without even turning around, he reached back and pushed the encroaching head a little further away.
“Stop it. I have to work tomorrow. How many times have I been late this week?”
Adams caught his wrist and pecked the palm of his hand. “I will make it all up to you.”
Oh? Being the big boss is amazing, isn’t it?
Tsk, it actually is quite amazing.
He let out a snort and withdrew his hand. The “big dog” immediately leaned in to kiss his cheek.
“Not tonight,” Adams whispered. “Are you hungry? What do you want to eat? I will make you a late-night snack.”
Han Yan turned his head and scratched Adams’ chin, just like he was playing with a puppy. “Really not tonight?”
“You are too tired.” Adams cupped Han Yan’s face, looking closely at the faint dark circles under his eyes, his heart instantly filled with self-reproach.
In truth, this could not be entirely blamed on Adams. Many times, when things were about to end, Han Yan would recklessly provoke him without end. One moment it was “Puppy, you are no good,” and the next it was “Puppy, if you cannot do it, let me do it myself.” What man could endure hearing such things in bed? Consequently, Adams had to put in the physical effort to satisfy him thoroughly, only stopping when Han Yan’s eyelids were practically glued shut.
Han Yan patted Adams’ face twice and arched an eyebrow. “Do you feel bad for me?”
“Yes.” Adams pulled him into his embrace, resting his chin lightly against the top of Han Yan’s head.
Han Yan noticed that Adams had been getting increasingly clingy lately. Every day after work, the man followed him around like a little shadow, constantly leaning in for kisses and hugs. However, Han Yan did not exactly hate the feeling; he actually quite enjoyed it.
“Stop being so mushy. It is so hot out; don’t you feel the heat?” Han Yan feigned disgust, nudging Adams’ stomach with his elbow.
“If you feel hot, I can turn the air conditioning lower.” Adams did not let go; instead, he held on even tighter.
Tsk, such a clingy thing.
“Alright, go make me a plate of fried noodles. Remember to put in plenty of ham and add two fried eggs.”
Adams kissed the top of his head and responded with a “Fine.”
“Yan, are you coming to the BBQ tonight?” Chris casually lifted the hem of his shirt to wipe his face, revealing a single solid abdominal muscle.
Han Yan could not help but burst out laughing at the sight. “Chris, your diet has been quite good lately, hasn’t it? Was that mirror selfie you posted on Instagram really you?”
“I swear to Jesus, that was one hundred percent me!” Chris expressed his dissatisfaction at Han Yan’s suspicion. He pinched his belly and said with tragic indignation, “You cannot blame me. Who told this farm to have such damn good food? It is almost as good as our family’s Christmas dinner!”
“This is a workplace injury! A workplace injury!”
Han Yan nodded perfunctorily, his mind drifting to Adams’ well-defined chocolate abs. He especially loved touching them from a dominant position. Every time, Adams would lower his voice and let out a strained, muffled groan; it was quite sexy.
Adams stayed at the farm all day; how come his physique never went out of shape? Tsk, just an excuse for laziness.
“Hey! What is with that look of complete disbelief? I see you have filled out a bit lately too. You have some nerve talking about me!” Chris grumbled loudly.
Han Yan curled his lips and snorted. “I have gained a bit of weight, but I am not like a certain someone whose abs have merged into one solid block.”
“I do not believe you!” Chris shouted, reaching out to flip up the hem of Han Yan’s shirt. Han Yan laughed and cursed, nimbly sidestepping to make him miss.
“See? You really are feeling guilty!” Chris thought he had caught Han Yan in a lie and kept blabbering, his eyes saying we are both in the same boat, so how can you talk about me?
Han Yan was speechless and shot him a glance. “I am just afraid you will feel inferior if you see them.”
“Keep pretending. Say no more, I understand everything.” Chris was stubborn, firmly believing Han Yan was just scared. His smug little look made Han Yan want to punch him.
Are you joking? If I can endure this, my name is not Han Yan!
Annoyed, Han Yan placed his fingers on the hem of his shirt, ready to lift it and prove himself. But just as he revealed a small section of his lean waist, the hem was forcefully pulled back down by a large hand.
“What are you doing?”
A low voice sounded from behind. He turned his head and ran right into a pair of emerald eyes. They were dark, and the brows were knitted together, forming a deep furrow.
“Adams? Why are you here?” Han Yan arched his eyebrows in surprise. Adams pursed his lips into a tight, straight line.
“Oh, Yan, is this that certain someone?” Chris remembered Adams—this was the “delicious dish” Han Yan had mentioned! His eyes sparkled as they darted between the two, and he suddenly let out a lewd laugh. “Yan, keep it up. I will not disturb your good business. By the way, remember to come to the BBQ tonight!”
With that, he slipped away as fast as he could, leaving Han Yan and Adams standing there staring at each other. Adams remained silent for a moment before catching Han Yan’s wrist.
“I made lunch. Let us go back and eat.”
At the dining table, Han Yan chewed his food while nonchalantly observing Adams’ cold, rigid face. His jealousy is quite intense. Annoying.
Han Yan felt that even if he were gay, he was still a man at his core. Lifting a shirt to show a same-sex friend his abs was no big deal; it was not as if they were doing anything. Besides, do gay people just stop going to public baths or hot springs? Of course, he only used private hot springs himself, but that was purely because he was not used to soaking with others.
He swallowed his food and asked casually, “Adams, does vinegar taste that good?”
Note: “Eating vinegar” is a Chinese idiom for being jealous.
Adams was startled for a second and gripped his chopsticks tighter. “I just… I do not want others to see your body.”
Han Yan could actually understand his reasoning. Since the man currently liked him and thought they were dating, it was normal for him to be possessive. Ultimately, it was his own doing.
He let out a long sigh, put down his chopsticks, stretched out his arm, and pinched Adams’ chin. “Stop being jealous, okay? You are so jealous you cannot even eat lunch properly. You are just eating plain white rice; aren’t you afraid of choking?”
Adams had spent the whole time staring at his bowl of white rice, not touching the side dishes once. His sulking look made Han Yan feel helpless. This man truly could not hide his thoughts at all.
Adams hesitated for a long time before speaking. “Can you kiss me once?”
“What? One kiss and you are not jealous anymore?”
“Yes.”
Oh? You are quite good at pushing your luck.
Han Yan’s eyebrows arched. He rose from his seat, braced his upper body, leaned over, and kissed Adams on the brow. “Better now?”
Adams pursed his lips and nodded. The knitted brow was instantly smoothed over by the kiss, and his dull eyes regained their spark, like a puppy that had finally been given a bone. Han Yan pinched his chin and shook it, affectionately rubbing his nose against Adams’.
“Such a good boy.”
Han Yan asked Adams if he wanted to come to the BBQ that night. The latter asked uncertainty, “Can I go?”
“Sure, why not? We will just say you are a staff member who looks after the sheep pens. Just do not be a fool and tell everyone that this farm belongs to you.” Han Yan gave him a reminder.
“Yes, I know.”
When Han Yan and Adams reached the dormitory entrance, they saw several familiar figures busy in the yard. “Yan, you are here!” Julie waved at them.
Chris, who was tinkering with the grill nearby, heard the noise and looked up. He immediately spotted the tall man standing next to Han Yan, who was giving him an unfriendly look. Chris could not help but shiver. He rubbed his neck and gave Han Yan an inquiring look.
Han Yan winked at him and pulled Adams’ arm to introduce him. “This is my current roommate, Adams. He happened to be free today, so I dragged him along.”
“Hello, Adams, I am Julie. I remember you; you came to find Yan before the holiday. Oh, and this is Chris, he is in charge of the grilling today. The others haven’t arrived yet.”
Julie gave a friendly smile. Chris had no choice but to step forward. Under that predatory gaze, he stiffly offered a greeting. God, what is Han Yan’s taste? His ‘dish’ is handsome, sure, but he is way too terrifying. Does he like chewing on tough meat?
As night fell, the others arrived one after another. Many were acquaintances of Han Yan and came over to chat; he responded to each with a smile. Even those he was not familiar with quickly became comfortable after a short exchange. If Han Yan wanted to, he could fit in with anyone.
Adams’ gaze followed Han Yan the entire time, his eyes gradually filling with admiration. During gaps in the conversation, Han Yan’s peripheral vision caught those sparkling eyes, and he curled his lips in a good mood. He did not neglect Adams either, introducing him to everyone.
Taking the chance while going to the restroom, he whispered into Adams’ ear playfully, “You are the big boss, and these are all your employees. It is not bad for a boss to know more about his staff.”
Adams nodded, gazing into Han Yan’s smiling eyes, and caught the hand hanging at his side. “I want to know more about you too.”
The smile on Han Yan’s face faltered for a second. He pulled his hand away inconspicuously and turned on the faucet to wash his face. “What is there to know about me? I am not as good as you think.”
“You are very good.” Adams hugged Han Yan from behind, burying his head in the crook of his neck.
Han Yan lifted his eyelids to look at the two of them hugging intimately in the mirror. The tall body almost completely enveloped him, holding him firmly. He lowered his eyes to hide his emotions, and when he looked up again, he wore his usual flirtatious smile.
He turned his head to kiss Adams’ earlobe, patted the hand around his waist, and laughed softly. “Alright, it won’t be good if someone walks in and sees us.”
“It is fine. Let them see.”
Great. This guy really wants to take a megaphone and let everyone know we are close.
Han Yan pinched his chin and kissed the corner of his lips. Water droplets that hadn’t been wiped away slid down his cheek to his chin, where Adams gently caught them and licked them away with his tongue. His chin felt a bit itchy from the licking, and a light laugh escaped his throat.
“Be good. I am hungry. Let us go out and eat BBQ first. Can we hug more when we get back, puppy?”
