Chapter 112: Tang Yin is Missing
This pain relief method was incredibly potent. Tang Yin not only felt no pain but also felt entirely revitalized, as if she could get out of bed and run two kilometers.
The year-long sour bubble in her heart seemed to vanish at this moment, brewing a sweetness like candy. She drifted off to sleep, holding onto beautiful dreams until morning.
However, Xia Shinan was preparing to leave the next day. Watching her pack her belongings, with Tao Yi bringing over her suitcase, ready to head straight to the airport, Tang Yin felt a familiar sense of melancholy. She didn’t know how long Xia Shinan would be gone or if anything unexpected would happen in her absence.
Xia Shinan hadn’t even left, yet Tang Yin was already missing her and starting to feel afraid.
“Sister Shinan, I’ll take your things down first. Talk with CEO Tang for a bit and then come down!” Tao Yi astutely noticed the atmosphere between the two was distinctly different from before and wisely made her exit.
Xia Shinan smiled helplessly. She looked back at Tang Yin, whose lingering gaze she could feel, making her feel a little guilty. She thought for a moment and said, “Listen to the doctor, and be diligent with your rehabilitation exercises, so you can recover quickly. Otherwise, you’ll regret any lingering complications.”
Abandoning a patient probably wasn’t the right thing to do, but she absolutely had to return. So, she patiently gave Tang Yin her instructions.
“No, I’ll definitely be better when you come back,” Tang Yin looked at her. While being cared for by Xia Shinan felt wonderful, she wanted to stand before Xia Shinan healthy and well even more.
“Then… can I have one more painkiller?” The kiss from last night was unforgettable, and she was still holding onto hope for another one.
Xia Shinan curved her lips into a smile, then walked over and handed her the painkiller from the bedside table. “The medicine is here. But you should take them sparingly, they can have side effects.”
Tang Yin was stunned for two seconds, then lowered her head and smiled. “Okay… I understand.”
“I’m leaving then.” Xia Shinan picked up her suitcase. Facing Tang Yin’s reluctance, she offered a smile: “Recover quickly. I’ll try my best to pick you up when you’re discharged.”
Xia Shinan knew how to offer hope, and that last sentence instantly turned Tang Yin’s gloom into sunshine.
“Goodbye.”
Tang Yin couldn’t see Xia Shinan off. Her gaze was fixed on the door until she couldn’t hear any sound, and even then, she continued to stare. Then… a woman in a suit walked in.
Tang Yin blinked, withdrawing her gaze. “Why are you here?”
Ming Jing: ??
“Why am I here? I came to see you! But it’s not Xia Shinan, so some people’s eyes instantly change, tsk tsk tsk.”
Tang Yin smiled helplessly. “Ming Jing, you have a wife. You should understand.”
“You…” This rendered Ming Jing speechless, leaving her no room to retort. “Just focus on your recovery. When you’re better, I’ll pound you to death!”
Tang Yin heard her words and looked out the window at the blooming flowers. “You’re right. I need to get better soon and leave the hospital early. The sooner, the better.”
Landing at Yuncheng Airport, Xia Shinan felt a sense of disorientation. So much had happened in Haicheng that she had even grown accustomed to its weather and food. Returning now, she felt a slight sense of unfamiliarity.
Xia Shinan didn’t have time to go home. She left her suitcase with Tao Yi to take later and immediately went to the company.
Wen Juan looked at her, her head aching slightly. “The upcoming work can’t be postponed any longer. Getting you back was the only option.”
“I know, thank you, Sister Juan.” Originally, she and Shen Zhi were scheduled for a variety show recording, but Shen Zhi’s sudden withdrawal had already complicated things for the production team. It wouldn’t be good if she postponed further.
“Is CEO Tang… okay?” Wen Juan asked curiously. She had asked Tao Yi, but the young girl was tight-lipped, only saying that she had woken up and was recovering, without mentioning anything else.
“She’s fine. Everything will be okay with slow recovery.” Xia Shinan didn’t want to talk too much about Tang Yin with Wen Juan, so she quickly redirected the conversation to filming Duan Xiaofei’s movie.
Wen Juan sighed. “You’re stubborn and have your own ideas, and I can’t control you. Just don’t interfere with the jobs the company books for you.”
Back at home, Xia Shinan lay down on the sofa for a short rest.
It felt like a long time since she had been alone in such quiet solitude. But for some reason, she felt a little unaccustomed to it. The silence brought a sudden sense of emptiness. She was curious about what that person in Haicheng was doing right now.
She found her phone in her bag and opened it. Sure enough, there was a message from Tang Yin, sent a few minutes ago.
“I didn’t have porridge today. The doctor said I need more protein and vitamins to recover quickly.”
The text was accompanied by two pictures. One was of today’s meal—simple, very bland home-cooked food. The other was a selfie of Tang Yin, looking listless and slightly unhappy, likely because the food wasn’t particularly tasty.
Xia Shinan couldn’t help but smile. She thought for a moment and tapped out a reply: “It’s good to listen to the doctor.”
Putting down her phone, Xia Shinan also stood up to order takeout. She needed to eat well too. She ordered from a small local restaurant nearby, equally bland, even somewhat similar to the dishes Tang Yin was eating.
Xia Shinan tasted a few bites and found it tasteless. She surprisingly thought this food wasn’t as good as the food from the Haicheng hospital cafeteria. This is unbelievable.
Thinking of this, Xia Shinan smiled. She knew very well that what she missed wasn’t the food; it was Tang Yin.
The next day, her work intensity immediately ramped up. Xia Shinan was busy from morning till night, either recording the variety show or shooting previously scheduled advertisements and magazine spreads.
One unexpected job followed another. In the blink of an eye, ten days had passed. This made Xia Shinan slightly suspicious. Could she really have gotten so many jobs on her own? Or was it because of Tang Yin…?
Ming Jing, however, dispelled her worries with a single sentence.
“Simply put, your current rate is inexpensive, and you’re a newcomer who’s starting to make a name for yourself. Everyone likes to use artists like you. Your appearance fee isn’t high, and you can still leverage your fanbase to generate extra value. You’re the most cost-effective choice. Cherish this time, because when your value increases, you might not be this busy.”
Xia Shinan smiled. “Then this is great right now.”
Being busy with work while witnessing her growth and value gave her a great sense of accomplishment. Still, she worried about Tang Yin’s recovery.
Although Tang Yin sent daily updates on her physical condition, seeing is believing. Xia Shinan still wanted to go to Haicheng.
“Sister Juan, we agreed. I’ll stop working for a period after this week’s shoot and go to Haicheng,” Xia Shinan called Wen Juan to inform her.
Wen Juan was a little curious. Xia Shinan had been so resistant to Tang Yin before, and now she was heading back as soon as her work finished?
Xia Shinan didn’t explain much, just smiled softly: “I promised to pick her up when she’s discharged.”
After booking a flight to Haicheng for the day after tomorrow, Xia Shinan had just hung up when Ming Jing called.
“Shinan, Tang Yin is missing!”
Xia Shinan was stunned. “What do you mean… missing? Where could an adult go?”
Ming Jing sounded frantic at the hospital. “She saw the latest magazine issue with you and Shen Zhi. She didn’t react at the time. I went to the restroom, and when I came back, she was gone!”
Magazine?
Xia Shinan instantly understood. There was a set of photos in the magazine—wedding photos.
