After the Demon Lord Lost His Memory, He Became the Immortal Venerable's Dao Companion - Chapter 6
“You are a scoundrel!”
Qi Yan released the sleeve he was clutching and glared at the rogue in front of him. “Then you can keep dreaming, because I am not able to give birth.”
Shen Yuzong sighed with feigned regret and pulled his embrace tighter. “Then I cannot complete my second task as a husband.”
Qi Yan did not react in time and instinctively asked, “What is this second task?”
“Watching my wife nurse…”
“You are a scoundrel!” Qi Yan cursed in anger, though he felt a bit short of breath, especially with that scorching palm still pressed against his lower abdomen.
Shen Yuzong nodded and, like an obedient student, echoed Qi Yan’s curse. “Yes, Zhuzhu is right. However, Zhuzhu, did you not know that it is impossible to reason with a scoundrel?”
“Do you even know how to write the word ‘scoundrel’?”
He raised his hand and traced the characters stroke by stroke over Qi Yan’s lower abdomen through the red gauze. Qi Yan could not endure this treatment and tried to curl his body inward.
“What is the matter? Zhuzhu, surely you have not forgotten how to write ‘scoundrel’?” Shen Yuzong asked, feigning ignorance, until he was forced to stop when Qi Yan turned around and slapped him.
“Shen Yuzong! You are going too far.” Qi Yan said, crying.
Tears finally rolled down his cheeks, falling to the ground and turning into strings of snow-white pearls.
“I am sorry. I was just too afraid. I was afraid that you would abandon me all over again. Back then, everyone despised me, and I had no family left.” Shen Yuzong lowered his eyes, his expression sorrowful.
Combined with the black mask covering half of his face, he was indeed very convincing. That is, if he had taken his hand off Qi Yan’s waist, it would have been even more persuasive.
Qi Yan had already figured out Shen Yuzong’s routine. Whenever the man went too far, he would immediately play the victim. Yet, Qi Yan always fell for it. Even though he knew Shen Yuzong was acting, he could not help but worry about the rogue.
“…I am not angry anymore.” Qi Yan turned his head and whispered.
Shen Yuzong immediately beamed with joy. “Your husband has been truly worried about you these past few days. I have been so anxious that I could neither eat nor sleep. I stayed by your side day and night, refusing to go anywhere. That is why I was so beside myself when I saw you wake up.”
Cultivators who have reached the Foundation Establishment stage have no need for food or sleep. For a dignified Immortal Venerable to spin such a lie so casually showed just how shameless he could be.
However, Qi Yan still foolishly comforted him. “Am I not awake now? But please do not act like this. I am not yet used to it.”
Shen Yuzong nodded and leaned in, playing the fool. “Like what?”
“I am not talking to you anymore!”
As the Demon Lord, Qi Yan’s temper could not be described as good; it could only be described as exceptionally kind. He was gentle by nature and did not love to kill, leading the Demon Realm to rank him as the most benevolent Demon Lord in history. Yet, even with such a temperament, he could be driven to the point of exploding by Shen Yuzong.
“Zhuzhu, I am going to cook. Why do you not play in the courtyard for a while?” Shen Yuzong stood up and kissed Qi Yan on the forehead.
Qi Yan remained silent.
“Zhuzhu, have you forgotten what your husband said again?” Shen Yuzong leaned against the dressing table, a smile that did not reach his eyes playing on his lips.
Qi Yan was startled by the sudden question and hurriedly nodded.
Only after Shen Yuzong left the room did Qi Yan relax. He lay on the table, looking blankly at his reflection in the mirror.
It was all Shen Yuzong’s fault for prattling on these past two days, leaving him with no energy to think about his own affairs.
He lowered his eyes to look at his right hand, where a faint red pattern still lingered on his forearm. He then touched his stomach, wondering what exactly that scar meant.
“Greetings, Immortal Venerable.” A young man dressed in the blue robes of a disciple knelt on one knee, his expression respectful.
Shen Yuzong sipped his tea without expression. “I no longer belong to the Chaotian Sect. There is no need to come looking for me again.”
This attitude was completely different from how he treated Qi Yan.
Rong Yu stiffened for a moment before rising to ask, puzzled, “Why? Immortal Venerable, you have clearly eradicated the Demon Lord. You are a hero of the righteous path, praised by all the immortal sects.”
Rong Yu was the eldest disciple of Shen Yuzong’s senior brother. His nature was not bad, but his temper was too stubborn. He did not understand why a dignified Immortal Venerable would give up everything to move to the territory of the demon race.
Moreover, Shen Yuzong had hidden all his information, and Rong Yu had only managed to track him down through the connections of a close friend.
“Is the Immortal Venerable hiding because the Demon Realm has ordered a full-scale search for you?”
Rong Yu, the foolish disciple, had gotten his timeline backwards in his anxiety. It was clearly Shen Yuzong who had run away first; how could he blame this on the demonic path?
Shen Yuzong looked out at the vast grassland outside and spoke calmly. “Of course not.”
“Then for what reason? This disciple does not understand.” Rong Yu bowed his head.
Rong Yu truly respected Shen Yuzong, his uncle-master. Not only was he upright, but he was also a rare genius of the Path of Heartlessness in the immortal world.
Perhaps there was a bit of selfishness in Rong Yu as well, as he himself practiced the Path of Heartlessness and had always looked up to Shen Yuzong as his role model.
Furthermore, with fewer and fewer people practicing the Path of Heartlessness, Rong Yu wanted to use his uncle-master’s example to prove that the rumors about the ninety-nine percent failure rate of the Path of Heartlessness were nothing but lies.
Shen Yuzong smiled, looking at the snow-white pearl in his palm. “It is, naturally, because I have shattered my path.”
Shattered his path?
Who shattered their path?
His uncle-master shattered his path.
His uncle-master shattered his path? Rong Yu stared at Shen Yuzong in shock. He had always firmly believed that Shen Yuzong would never break his path; that belief was even stronger than his own conviction.
But now, he was being told that Shen Yuzong had shattered his path?
For a moment, Rong Yu felt as if the whole world were spinning. He asked in disbelief, “Why?”
“There is no particular reason. If you must have one, perhaps it is because my Dao heart was not firm enough,” Shen Yuzong said casually.
Hahaha! Uncle-Master actually said his Dao heart was not firm enough! Then what does that make me?
