After the Demon Lord Lost His Memory, He Became the Immortal Venerable's Dao Companion - Chapter 5
“Where are you touching, my wife?”
It took a while longer before Shen Yuzong finally pulled away.
He had already suppressed the urges from a moment ago with his spiritual power.
It was still too early to talk about that, and Shen Yuzong was not an impatient man. Everything had to be taken one step at a time; it would be a disaster if he scared Qi Yan away.
Watching Qi Yan’s ink-black hair swaying gently in the breeze, Shen Yuzong suddenly remembered something. He walked to the dressing table beside the bed and beckoned to Qi Yan.
“Zhuzhu, come here.”
Qi Yan clutched his clothes, hesitating for a moment, but eventually walked over slowly.
Shen Yuzong pressed Qi Yan down into the seat and leaned in close to him. “How is it? Do you like them?”
As he spoke, a neat row of hairpins appeared on the dressing table.
Qi Yan was speechless. Even if he had ten heads, he would not be able to wear all of these.
However, Shen Yuzong looked delighted. He picked up the hairpins one by one from the box and held them up to compare them against Qi Yan.
These hairpins had been sourced from the most famous jewelry shops in various regions, yet placed in front of Qi Yan, they all seemed to lose their luster.
It was true, after all: the person was more beautiful than the flowers.
Shen Yuzong reached out to pick up the hair on both sides of Qi Yan’s face, braided them, wound them around his palm, and secured them with a hairpin.
“So beautiful,” Shen Yuzong exclaimed sincerely.
Seeing that someone was about to lean in again, Qi Yan turned his head and suddenly brought up another matter.
“Why exactly did I lose my memory?”
Shen Yuzong remained his usual flippant self. He pondered the question for a brief moment. “Because Zhuzhu saw that other people’s wives had given birth to children for their husbands, but you had not. You grew anxious, felt you had failed your husband, and jumped off a cliff.”
What on earth? Even if he was lying, he did not have to make it so obvious!
Qi Yan said with some annoyance, “Setting aside the question of whether I can even give birth, how could I possibly do something like that?”
“That is right, I never expected Zhuzhu to love me so much,” Shen Yuzong said, completely unfazed. Regardless of what Qi Yan said, he stuck to his version of the story.
“Zhuzhu, stand up for a moment.” Shen Yuzong spoke suddenly. His voice resonated right by Qi Yan’s ear, making it go numb. Qi Yan secretly reached up to rub it.
He stood up obediently, thinking Shen Yuzong wanted to discuss something serious, but instead, the man sat down in the spot where he had just been sitting.
“What is this? What kind of husband makes his wife stand while he…” Before Qi Yan could finish his complaint, a familiar arm wrapped around his waist, pulling him in and encircling half of his body with his forearm.
With an irresistible force, he was pulled down onto Shen Yuzong’s lap.
“Hmm? What was Zhuzhu saying just now?” Shen Yuzong’s hands passed behind Qi Yan’s back and rested on his lower abdomen.
“I… Ah! What are you doing! Shen Yuzong!”
No sooner had Qi Yan sat firmly on Shen Yuzong’s lap than he saw Shen Yuzong lift and drop his leg, shaking him as if bouncing a child to lift him higher. Shen Yuzong said in a hoarse voice, “Didn’t you say your husband does not dote on you? How could I let my wife suffer, right?”
Qi Yan glared at Shen Yuzong with lingering fear and braced his hands against him, trying to stand up.
But his hand was quickly caught by Shen Yuzong. Leaning in close, he curled his lips into a smile. “Where are you touching, my wife?”
Qi Yan froze. He suddenly realized what Shen Yuzong meant and tried to pull his hand back as if it were a hot potato.
Unfortunately, it was one step too late. He was held firmly in place, and could only feel his heart sink as he faced the situation…
“Shen Yuzong! You are simply…” Qi Yan was so angry he could not even manage a sharp insult.
A peony hairpin Shen Yuzong had chosen was stuck in his hair, with a pearl chain hanging below. The pearls were hollow, containing tiny metal bells inside, which would emit a jingling sound whenever he turned his head.
“I am simply what? I am simply shameless and lewd, are I not, Zhuzhu?” Shen Yuzong lifted his leg and repeated the same trick.
Qi Yan frantically grabbed Shen Yuzong’s sleeve with his other free hand and said in a tight, pitiful voice, “You do not need to shake me.”
“Why? Is Zhuzhu loathing me again?” Shen Yuzong repeated his previous move, burying his face in the crook of Qi Yan’s snow-white neck like a large dog.
“I… Ah… Shen Yuzong!”
Shen Yuzong chuckled and supported Qi Yan’s chin, turning him around. Qi Yan was clearly no longer in his right mind; his gray-blue eyes were glazed over with a misty layer.
He lowered his head to look at his own sleeve, which had been wrinkled by the other man’s grip. Shen Yuzong sighed softly, as if helpless. “Why are you so delicate?”
He raised his hand and pressed it against Qi Yan’s lower abdomen through the high-quality gauze garment. “Zhuzhu, you were the one shouting about bearing me a child back then; is this all it takes to make you unable to handle it?”
