- Chapter 93 - If She Retreats the First Step, She Will Retreat Step by Step from Then On
It was madness perhaps the obsession to survive was too deeply ingrained.
Fan Yi lazily stretched his fingers, the trident transforming back into a military dagger that he twirled in his palm. He lowered his head indifferently, one elbow propped on his knee.
He hadn’t anticipated that momentary oversight back then. Nor did he know that his blood could revive all things.
Revive all things? A fleeting image flashed through Fan Yi’s mind a blurry one, like a cluster of blooming crabapple flowers, exceptionally bright and vivid.
But by the time he tried to recall it, it had already vanished without a trace.
Perhaps it wasn’t that he didn’t know his blood could revive all things, but that he had forgotten.
Fan Yi’s expression was inscrutable. Then he narrowed his eyes and, after a long pause, spoke in a completely emotionless tone.
“So, can I just kill him directly?”
After all, he detested anyone who had any connection to Si Tang.
“Not yet,” 8856 replied, his scalp tingling with fear. “I forgot to mention the God of Fate sends someone to inspect every month, and it’s happening soon.”
“During this time, you absolutely must not act recklessly or use divine power to harm anyone. As for this human, letting him live a little longer won’t hurt. After all, even if we don’t take action, fate will push him toward death. Because that’s how the original outcome was written. With his human strength, there’s no way he can resist the power of fate.”
Fan Yi raised an eyebrow faintly but said nothing more, perhaps tacitly agreeing with 8856’s explanation and suggestion.
Both silently believed that a mere human couldn’t possibly stir up any major trouble.
Fan Yi’s mind was now completely occupied with Si Tang. After casually dismissing 8856, he opened his heavenly eye to locate Si Tang’s company.
However, the office on the screen was empty, silent, and desolate there was no sign of Si Tang anywhere.
Fan Yi instantly frowned and stood up, quickly sensing for Si Tang’s presence.
The images on the screen flashed by like a rapidly scrolling reel before abruptly stopping. The screen now showed an airplane, with Si Tang leaning against the window, fast asleep and looking utterly content.
Fan Yi:
If suddenly appearing on the plane wouldn’t cause widespread panic, he would have already used his divine power to snatch Si Tang back.
He had only given her a little space and taken his eyes off her for a moment, how could she have run away!
With a dark expression, Fan Yi immediately summoned 8856 back and ordered him to find out Si Tang’s destination.
8856 felt as if struck by a bolt from the blue, utterly miserable.
Under Fan Yi’s gloomy gaze, he managed to determine Si Tang’s destination.
London.
When the plane landed at Heathrow Airport, London was shrouded in a gray morning haze.
Si Tang gazed out the window at the blurred outlines outside, her eyes deepening with thought.
She had come to London in person because the British royal family intended to terminate their contract with Xing Nian.
After disembarking, she turned on her phone, and a dozen unread messages immediately popped up on the screen. The top one was from her assistant: “Vice President Si, the royal family’s stance is very firm they want to cancel the contract. Joe Zhou will pick you up at the airport. He’s a key figure in these negotiations.”
Si Tang pressed her lips together and replied, “Okay.”
Si Tang had come in a hurry, partly for business, and partly to avoid a certain fish. She hadn’t even brought any luggage.
Stepping out of the airport, she spotted a tall Asian man from afar. Dressed in a deep gray three-piece suit with a meticulously knotted tie, he had a dignified appearance, was clearly of Chinese descent, stood ramrod straight, and appeared to be around thirty years old.
Si Tang had met him before Joe Zhou, the liaison responsible for the royal family’s jewelry procurement.
“Vice President Si,” the man put down his sign as Si Tang approached and extended his hand, “Long time no see.”
Si Tang shook his hand. “Mr. Zhou, it’s been a while. Thank you for coming to pick me up in person.”
Joe led her toward the parking lot. “Considering the time difference, we haven’t scheduled any formal meetings today. I thought you might need some time to rest and adjust first.”
“That’s very considerate of you,” Si Tang nodded, then abruptly shifted the topic. “However, if it’s convenient, I’d like to understand the specific reasons for the royal family’s dissatisfaction with this design as soon as possible.”
Joe’s footsteps faltered almost imperceptibly. “Of course, that’s exactly what we’ll be discussing next.”
He opened the door of a black Jaguar. “How about this? I have a private club near Wimbledon with a very quiet atmosphere. We can chat while playing a round of golf it’s a bit more informal.”
Si Tang raised an eyebrow. Negotiations on the golf course a classic business tactic. She nodded in agreement. “Sounds good.”
Just as Si Tang was about to get into the car, she suddenly heard a familiar voice behind her, tinged with a hint of gentleness.
“Wife.”
Si Tang turned around as if she’d seen a ghost. Fan Yi was dressed in a casual linen shirt and perfectly draped trousers, his strikingly silver hair and obsidian-like eyes, cold as ice water, giving off an indescribable air of aristocratic laziness.
His excessively refined and striking looks drew frequent glances from those around them.
And all Si Tang could think at that moment was, What is he doing here?
She watched, dumbfounded, as Fan Yi strolled over casually and wrapped his arm around her. The seemingly casual gesture radiated a strong sense of possessiveness.
He offered a polite smile and gave a slight nod to Joe Zhou. “Hello, I’m her husband, Fan Yi. If you don’t mind, I’ll join you?”
She had no idea when he had mastered English so quickly, but his deep, mellow voice flowed effortlessly.
Si Tang’s heart: slightly numb. Dead, but not entirely.
What is he doing here?! It was obvious he had tracked her movements and waited for her at London Airport like a hunter lying in ambush.
Should she be grateful that he hadn’t ruined her business deal and simply dragged her back home?
She also hadn’t forgotten yesterday’s events. Her anger hadn’t subsided in the slightest, and she couldn’t muster a pleasant expression in front of Fan Yi. But given the situation, she couldn’t make a scene in front of her business partner. All she could do was force an awkward smile and play along.
Joe Zhou found it quite strange. What kind of female executive brings her husband along for business negotiations? Perhaps the culture in their homeland had evolved. In the past, it was usually business magnates who brought their wives or female companions as decorative accessories. This compatriot of Si Tang’s was quite impressive marrying no, being married to such a strikingly beautiful “accessory.”
So he nodded enthusiastically. “Of course, Mr. Fan. Your English is excellent.”
Si Tang felt utterly defeated inside. With a dark expression, she let Fan Yi hold her as they followed him into the back seat. Joe Zhou personally drove the car, heading toward the golf club.
Throughout the journey, Si Tang had to manage Joe Zhou’s small talk while staying vigilant against Fan Yi’s wandering hands.
His cool fingertips traced circles at her waist, and he completely disregarded Joe Zhou sitting in the front seat, taking her hand in his. Though his grip seemed gentle, it left no room for escape as he interlaced their fingers and rested them on her lap.
She glanced sideways and saw his soft, harmless expression, gritting her teeth in frustration.
Hah, keep pretending.
No sooner had the thought crossed her mind than he pinched her waist playfully.
