- Chapter 66 - In the Next Life, He Would Definitely Lock Her Away
Three days later, Si Tang organized the design drafts and sent them to He Chenzhou.
“President He, the mole behind the plagiarism incident we discussed earlier has been uncovered. Now we’re just waiting for the mastermind to be revealed. These design drafts were all personally designed by me recently. Please take a look.”
It wasn’t until evening that He Chenzhou replied to the email and also added her as a contact.
He Chenzhou sent a message: “Are you free tomorrow? I’ll be waiting for you at the He Corporation.”
Si Tang was having dinner at the villa when she heard her phone vibrate on the table. She glanced down as the screen lit up automatically, showing He Chenzhou’s email reply.
Naturally, Si Tang picked up her phone and opened the reply: “Then let’s meet at 9 AM tomorrow. Don’t be late.”
After replying, she subconsciously tapped on his profile picture and changed his contact name. His profile picture was completely black without any other elements, as enigmatic as the man himself.
Curious, she clicked on his Moments. Well, he had never posted anything.
A powerful, excellent, yet somewhat boring man, Si Tang thought.
As she was lost in thought, she suddenly heard a harsh sound from across the table, like the screech of a blade scraping against glass.
She turned off her phone and placed it back on the table, looking up to see Fan Yi, who had unknowingly set down his knife and fork, his gaze fixed intently on her face.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, frowning slightly in confusion. “What was that sound just now?”
Fan Yi didn’t answer her question.
“Are you very busy?” Fan Yi’s gaze fell on the phone she had just turned off. He lowered his eyelashes, his voice soft and devoid of any accusatory tone.
Only 8856 saw that Lord Fan Yi had been secretly watching Si Tang while cutting the fish on his porcelain plate with a knife and fork.
Just as Si Tang was replying to the message, he clenched his fingers and forcefully sliced the plate into fragments. The evidence of his crime was now hidden beneath the tablecloth, concealed by his divine power.
“No, it’s just an important message,” Si Tang said.
A strange, indescribable feeling welled up inside her.
Before she could grasp that elusive emotion, Fan Yi suddenly stood up.
He was so tall that the light from behind him cast an unusually oppressive shadow, giving him a deep, intimidating aura that didn’t match his usual demeanor.
Fan Yi clearly saw the strange curiosity in her eyes, along with a hint of alarm.
He struggled to hold back, resisting the urge to demand frantically, “What kind of important message has you so engrossed? Is it because you care about the man who sent it?”
That would be too jealous, too insane. Si Tang would surely be repulsed.
He couldn’t help but lower his head, his soft hair falling forward, obscuring the emotions in his eyes.
Why are humans social creatures? he wondered.
He just wanted to be with Si Tang in a place where no one could find them, so her attention wouldn’t be drawn to anyone or anything else.
She should only be looking at him.
Dark, obsessive emotions surged, spiraling out of control.
For a moment, he even felt that everything he was doing was nothing but a joke. Was it necessary?
Was it really necessary?
Why not just bind her to him and spend their lives together on a remote island where no one could find them? Wouldn’t that be enough?
“Lord Fan Yi.” Seeing his expression grow increasingly unsettling, 8856 immediately called out to him through a telepathic message in his ear.
Fan Yi seemed to snap out of it abruptly. He looked up at Si Tang, who was staring at him strangely, and closed his eyes as if restraining himself.
Very well. It was all just to make her a little happier. Just to make her smile at him more. To make her like him.
In the next life, he would definitely lock her away.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt this was the right course of action. His heart seemed to find a certain balance, and the missing sense of security and constant anxiety seemed to be filled.
He sat back down again.
“It’s nothing, I just accidentally broke a plate. You were too focused, so you didn’t notice. Is there something important?”
He resumed his disguise as a gentle and obedient gentleman, every move refined and appropriate, his questions tactful and measured.
But Si Tang felt, she couldn’t quite put her finger on what was off.
“Are you in a bad mood?” she asked after a moment’s thought. “Actually, He Chenzhou, the CEO of He Corporation, asked me to go to He Corporation tomorrow morning. I’ve rushed out a new batch of designs for the blueprint collaboration with Xing Nian, and I need to discuss them with him.”
The company was so big did he really have to handle it personally? Fan Yi was extremely displeased.
But he had to phrase these concerns differently.
Sitting upright, he feigned surprise and confusion. “Isn’t this usually handled by their design department?”
Si Tang nodded. “That’s how it should be, but he really appreciates my designs. He wants to personally finalize the initial draft.”
Fan Yi really wanted to just kill him outright.
For now, he could only rage helplessly in his heart.
He Chenzhou, that eyesore.
On the surface, he could only smile and express understanding. “That means he really recognizes your talent.”
Hearing this, Si Tang smiled. “Yes, he’s quite a capable person. I’m glad to have his recognition.”
Seeing her smile made Fan Yi even more uncomfortable.
He could hardly sit still, afraid that if he continued talking to Si Tang, he might lose control and flip the table.
He needed to cool off.
“I’m done eating,” Fan Yi stood up, forcing a polite smile. “I’ll head upstairs first.”
He quickly disappeared from Si Tang’s sight.
Si Tang blinked and turned her gaze to Xiao Liu, who was eating voraciously. “Did something happen to your brother today? Is he in a bad mood?”
8856 swallowed the chicken leg in his mouth, feeling a belated sense of dread.
If Lord Fan Yi couldn’t calm down, wouldn’t that be the end?
He immediately put down his chopsticks. “Well, he might be facing a minor setback in his career. Ah, Sister Si Tang, I’m done eating too. I’ll head upstairs now!”
Xiao Liu hurried off in the same direction Fan Yi had gone.
Si Tang stared curiously in the direction the two had left, shook her head, cleared the table, and tossed the dishes into the dishwasher.
Of course, Fan Yi didn’t lose his mind.
He had convinced himself thoroughly.
Brainwashing himself to make his wife happy.
The next morning, as expected, Si Tang finished breakfast and prepared to leave for He Corporation to meet He Chenzhou.
Fan Yi restrained himself from asking to go with her.
After all, the books said that if a man had no career and clung to a woman all day, he would be looked down upon and considered annoying.
Fan Yi wanted to follow her but was afraid Si Tang would find him irritating.
His mood remained gloomy until he saw her off.
“Goodbye, Fan Yi, Xiao Liu. See you tonight,” Si Tang bid them farewell before leaving.
Si Tang was gone.
After she left, Si Tang still believed that Fan Yi and Xiao Liu would also head to their own company for work shortly after.
Little did she know that on the days she was working at her company, Fan Yi would lock himself in the basement, doing who knows what.
Anyway, both Trident and 8856 were going to be kicked out.
However, based on 8856’s understanding of this crazy fish, it could be guessed, that it was definitely monitoring Si Tang’s every move.
