- After Teasing the Crazy Mermaid, He Actually Deceived Me into Marriage
- Chapter 64 - Reencounter with Ling Xubai
Flawlessly exquisite features, suffused with a thick, bewitching springtime allure. Silver hair, blue eyes glistening with moisture, lips damp with dew radiating an unexpected purity.
Si Tang felt as if struck by lightning.
It was, Fan Yi’s face.
Si Tang jolted awake from the dream, her body still trembling.
A faint, elusive cold fragrance lingered in the air.
Her heart continued to pound violently, and she felt a numbness on her lips. Unconsciously, she reached up to touch them, frowning in confusion.
She got out of bed and headed to the bathroom for a shower, her fingers instinctively brushing over the fish-scale necklace around her neck.
After her bath, she took the medicine prescribed by her doctor, swallowing it with a deeply resigned expression.
How could she, have superimposed Fan Yi’s face onto the mermaid of her imagination in her dream?
Was it because. during the blackout, she had seen Fan Yi’s stunning face under the moonlight, so strikingly similar to the figure in her dream? Had she merged their images together in her fantasy?
The medicine didn’t seem to be working at all.
Burdened with unease, Si Tang returned to bed, forcing herself to fall asleep again.
Basement.
Fan Yi watched Si Tang’s every move, only vaguely aware of the dream that had startled her awake.
He thought with frustration, Had he really left such a deep psychological scar on her. that she would dream of him every night and wake up terrified?
Over the next few days, Si Tang focused on progressing with her new design drafts. The covert surveillance cameras installed in the company had already identified the suspect, capturing substantial evidence over several consecutive days. Si Tang compiled and stored all the evidence in a cloud drive.
The mastermind behind it all would soon be revealed. Given a little more time, the culprit would inevitably rush to produce physical samples of the stolen designs, and everything would become clear.
She needed to resolve this matter before the next product launch.
Before she knew it, the day had arrived for the opening of the newly established museum in the capital. As previously agreed with Fan Yi, Si Tang was to serve as the opening ceremony’s narrator.
The inauguration of the new Capital Museum was even more grand than Si Tang had imagined.
Standing in the side hall’s lounge, she peered through the partially open door at the bustling crowd outside. Journalists, experts, scholars, government officials, and curious visitors packed the main hall to capacity. Camera flashes lit up the room intermittently.
“Nervous?” Fan Yi’s voice came from behind her, carrying his usual gentle amusement.
Si Tang turned and shook her head, a slight smile curling her lips. “It’s just a narration.”
Fan Yi was dressed in an impeccably tailored dark blue suit, accentuating his already striking features. As the donor of this batch of Atlantean artifacts, he was undoubtedly one of the day’s main attractions.
“Three thousand artifacts, all donated to the nation. You’re quite generous,” Si Tang remarked lightly as she adjusted the narrator’s badge on her chest.
Fan Yi smiled but offered no response.
System 8856 had mentioned that, in the original course of events, these artifacts would have been salvaged from the ocean floor anyway. He had merely restored them to their destined path.
Just then, a museum staff member knocked and entered. “Miss Si, the narration will begin in five minutes.”
Si Tang was dressed in a beige professional suit today, her hair meticulously pinned up at the back, with only a few stray strands framing her face, adding a touch of softness. She picked up the laser pointer and tablet she used for presentations and nodded to Fan Yi, “I’ll head over first then.”
The central hall was designed as a massive circular space, its dome made of transparent special glass, allowing soft natural light to filter through. Three thousand Atlantean artifacts were arranged on the central display platform and the surrounding circular display cases, each accompanied by detailed descriptions and holographic projections.
The moment Si Tang stepped onto the presentation platform, the entire hall fell silent. She cleared her throat, her voice clear and composed.
“Good morning, distinguished guests. Welcome to the Imperial City Museum’s Atlantis Special Exhibition. Today, I will guide you through the mysteries of this lost civilization.”
Her narration was smooth and vivid, covering everything from the historical legends of Atlantis to the discovery process of these artifacts and the unique value of each exhibit. The crowd followed her pace and the guidance of her laser pointer, moving slowly through the exhibition hall, occasionally gasping in awe.
“Next, let me unveil our museum’s treasure this crystal artifact known as the ‘Tear of the Sea God.’ It was salvaged from the ocean depths ten years ago. Due to ongoing controversies, it was secretly protected by national authorities for a decade before finally being classified among these treasures from the same period as Atlantis.” Si Tang pointed toward a blue crystal the size of a pearl in the central display case, illuminated by special lighting that made it seem as though blue fluorescence flowed within. “To this day, scientists cannot explain its composition or the principles behind its internal movements, nor do they know which era it truly originates from.”
“Legend has it that it is a tear shed by the Sea God for his beloved, lost to the ocean and later discovered by humanity.”
In the distance, 8856 appeared behind Fan Yi at some point, bewildered and shocked, “Lord Fan Yi, isn’t that?”
Fan Yi was even more puzzled, frowning without speaking, his narrowed eyes fixed on the blue crystal in the display case. If his senses weren’t mistaken, it carried his own aura.
By now, Si Tang had finished her presentation, and the guests were free to explore. Everyone couldn’t help but gather around the blue crystal, as if they, too, could feel the Sea God’s sorrow.
Si Tang gazed at the faint blue glow for a long time, and for some reason, a faint ache stirred in her heart.
Just then, a gentle, unfamiliar voice sounded beside her.
“Miss Si Tang, it’s been a long time.”
Snapping out of her thoughts, Si Tang turned to see a gentle and refined face, somewhat paler and thinner than it had been three years ago.
“Mr. Ling?” Si Tang exclaimed in surprise, then smiled. “I didn’t expect to meet you here!”
“Indeed. I just listened to your presentation it was excellent! I brought my students here today for a study tour.” Ling Xubai smiled warmly, then coughed twice as if struggling for breath. He deftly moved a silk handkerchief away from his lips and smiled apologetically. “The last time we met was three years ago, wasn’t it? How have you been?”
“I’ve been well. And I must thank you if you hadn’t saved me back then, I might not have made it off that island.”
“That’s good to hear, but. I later heard you lost your memory?” Ling Xubai asked instinctively, his eyes scanning her face for a moment.
He had initially been very interested in her experiences on the island, but the day after learning she had been taken in by the Si family, he lost his memory.
Si Tang nodded, her smile fading slightly, as if she too had some unspoken difficulties she couldn’t express.
“Anyway, thank you for saving me. Since fate has brought us together again, after the tour ends, let me treat you to a meal. If you ever need my help in the future, feel free to ask,” Si Tang said with a light smile.
Ling Xubai coughed again, this time more violently than before. He covered his mouth with a handkerchief and waited until the fit subsided before replying, “Back then, it was just a coincidence, a small effort not worth mentioning.”
He had originally intended to decline her invitation to dinner, just as he had three years ago, but his gaze suddenly caught a tall, unfamiliar figure in the distance, and he changed his mind.
“Alright, I happen to be very interested in the content you explained and would like to discuss it further with you.”
Si Tang couldn’t help but smile at his words. “You’re still so fascinated by the civilization of Atlantis.”
“I heard your husband also enjoys collecting such artifacts,” Ling Xubai remarked. “It’s said that aside from the ‘Tears of the Sea God,’ all the other pieces in the collection were donated by your husband.”
Si Tang nodded without denying it.
Just then, Fan Yi strode over from afar with long, confident steps.
Why was it that everywhere he went, someone was pestering his wife?
