- Chapter 59 - Too Much of a Gamble
After saying those words one by one, she indeed saw He Moheng’s originally refined and handsome brows and eyes turn gloomy, his dark pupils tinged with a furious crimson.
“Si Tang, you very good, you’re just great!”
In such a high-class setting, surrounded by watchful eyes, he ultimately refrained from rushing forward to argue with her. Shooting Si Tang a hateful glare, he pulled Si Xi away and left.
As they walked away, Si Xi seemed to be both whining and soothing his temper.
Fan Yi’s gaze followed He Moheng until he was far away, his fingers unconsciously brushing over the ruby badge on his chest.
Then, quietly savoring the scene of Si Tang calling him “husband,” he felt as if he were floating on air.
As for the raw stones on the iPad, he really had no interest in looking at them, there were plenty at home just for smashing and playing with.
Over there, He Moheng, suppressing his anger, prepared to take a seat with Si Xi. The moment they sat down, a sharp pain shot through their buttocks, causing He Moheng to immediately spring up from his seat. His expression twisted, and he became unusually irritable. Noticing the strange looks from those around him, he managed to hold back from shouting rudely.
Si Xi, however, was far less composed. She practically screamed as she jumped up, pointing at the nearest attendant and yelling, “Ah! You, what’s going on here, huh? How could there be nails on the seats? Do you have a death wish or something?!”
The people around exchanged glances and whispered among themselves.
“Is that the Second Miss of the Si family? How could she be so ill-mannered? Look at her screaming and jumping it’s simply outrageous, like a shrew.”
“Wasn’t it said that the Second Miss of the Si family is as delicate and pitiable as a begonia? She’s nothing like a lady!”
“So embarrassing. But she said there were nails? In such a high-end venue, could the organizers make such a basic mistake?”
Several attendants immediately came to handle the situation and called for the person in charge.
“Second Miss Si, you mentioned there were nails? May, I take a look first?” the person in charge said politely.
Si Xi felt as if her buttocks had been pricked by a needle, certain it was either a nail or a steel pin. Disregarding propriety, she reached back to feel around but only touched the smooth fabric. A female attendant nearby spoke softly, “Second Miss Si, there’s. nothing unusual behind you.” The attendant swallowed the words “the fabric on your buttocks is completely intact.”
“How is that possible? All of you, just wait for my complaint!” Si Xi was in a terrible mood. Not only had she failed to suppress and mock Si Tang earlier, but now her buttocks had been mysteriously pricked.
Yet, after feeling around a few times herself and having someone hold up a mirror for her to check, she found nothing unusual. The pain, however, felt severe enough to be from a steel nail. She even bent over to search for a needle but found nothing.
But her buttocks still hurt!
Was it some kind of ghostly occurrence?!
Her expression twisted momentarily, and the attendants, though seemingly respectful, hid disdain in their eyes.
It seemed as if they thought she was deliberately causing trouble, being utterly rude! How dare these attendants look at her like that.
“You” Si Xi was about to continue making a scene when He Moheng, who had been silent beside her, suddenly spoke coldly and sternly.
“Enough!”
He Moheng felt that Si Xi was being utterly unreasonable in this setting. Couldn’t she see that everyone around was laughing at her? Even he, standing beside her, couldn’t avoid being ridiculed. And because of this incident, the auction had been delayed by fifteen minutes, and many business magnates present were growing impatient and dissatisfied!
Si Xi was stopped by He Moheng, and a sliver of reason returned to her. She could only suppress her overwhelming anger, smoothing her skirt elegantly before sitting back down.
Her gaze swept past Si Tang in the other direction, and even now, she could still hear the surrounding praises for her.
It was infuriating!
But it didn’t matter. Once the auction began, she would have Moheng-gege bid on a birthday gift for her the finale lot, that raw stone!
Moreover, she had obtained insider information beforehand. A senior expert in the gemstone gambling world, who was on good terms with He Moheng, had told them that Lot No. 8 at this auction, once cut open, would be worth at least tens of millions, guaranteed.
The outcome of this auction was destined to make her, Si Xi, the center of attention and the ultimate winner!
The auction officially began, and the first few raw stones were sold for decent prices. When Lot No. 8 was brought on stage, Si Xi immediately raised her paddle.
“One million!” she called out loudly, casting a provocative glance at Si Tang.
Si Tang showed no reaction, focusing intently on the close-up of the raw stone on the large screen. The stone’s appearance was indeed excellent smooth surface, good translucency a typical example of high-quality Burmese jadeite. However, the element of gambling involved exceeded Si Tang’s expectations.
Fan Yi had initially intended to raise his paddle and outbid her to teach Si Xi a lesson, but 8856 transmitted a voice message into his ear.
“It’s useless. No matter what she bids on today, it will skyrocket in value. This is the invisible power of fate and luck in the trajectory of destiny.”
Fan Yi’s gaze turned cold.
He glanced at the composed Si Tang, then at that detestable human. Finally, a flicker of thought crossed his eyes.
Meanwhile, the bidding for Lot No. 8, which Si Xi was competing for, quickly soared to three million and was eventually won by Si Xi for 3.5 million. She triumphantly demanded that the stone be cut on the spot. The staff secured the raw stone on a professional cutting machine.
As the whirring sound of the cutter filled the air, the stone was split in two, revealing a crystal-clear, translucent jadeite inside. The venue erupted in gasps of amazement.
“Ice species!” And it’s fully green!” an expert exclaimed in astonishment.
Si Xi smiled smugly. “Moheng-gege, we’ve struck it big! This piece is worth at least twenty million!”
He Moheng also smiled, nodding graciously to the crowd. Si Xi deliberately turned toward Si Tang’s direction. “Some people just lack the vision and courage.”
Si Tang remained unfazed. After all, Fan Yi’s home was filled with raw stones waiting to be cut.
But Si Xi was as annoying as a fly. Si Tang frowned slightly, a reaction that Fan Yi immediately noticed.
“Later, bid for Lot 17,” Fan Yi suddenly leaned in and whispered into Si Tang’s ear.
Si Tang was taken aback and instinctively glanced at Fan Yi.
He gave her a confident look in return.
When Lot No. 17 was displayed, the venue erupted in murmurs and disdain. The raw stone had a rough, irregular shape, looking particularly shabby among the array of glossy, well-presented stones.
Si Tang’s expression turned thoughtful as she glanced at Fan Yi again, as if asking, “Are you sure?”
The gamble here wasn’t just significant it was enormous.
Fan Yi simply chuckled. “Bid on it. It will surprise you.”
His calm and gentle tone carried an air of absolute control. For some reason, Si Tang was suddenly reminded of the time at Jin Garden when this Mr. Fan Yi had casually pointed out a stone that ended up yielding an imperial green, glass-type jadeite.
The starting bid was only two hundred thousand, and no one made an offer. Si Tang slowly raised her paddle. “Two hundred thousand.”
The auctioneer breathed a sigh of relief, “Two hundred thousand going once. two hundred thousand going twice.”
“Two hundred and fifty thousand!” Si Xi suddenly shouted, clearly intending to cause trouble.
Without even furrowing her brow, Si Tang responded, “Three hundred thousand.”
“Three hundred and fifty thousand!”
“Four hundred thousand.”
When the price reached six hundred thousand, Si Xi finally gave up but couldn’t resist mocking, “Spending six hundred thousand on a worthless stone my sister, as the manager of Xing Nian, truly has a unique vision!”
A wave of laughter rippled through the venue.
