- Chapter 21 - Divine Diary
“Would you like to go out today?” Fan Yi asked.
Si Tang seemed to come alive at his words, nodding repeatedly.
So, Fan Yi led her through the barrier, deep into the jungle.
Sunlight filtered through the 300-foot-high canopy, shattering into countless specks of light by the time it reached the ground.
“This place is dangerous,” Fan Yi remarked casually.
Snakes, ants, and wild beasts lurked in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity. Si Tang instinctively tightened her grip on Fan Yi’s sleeve.
Yet whenever they drew closer, they would scatter in alarm, as if frightened by something unseen.
“They’re afraid of you,” Si Tang observed.
Fan Yi gave a faint smile but didn’t confirm or deny it. Just then, a beam of golden light suddenly descended from the sky. 8856 was sending a message to Fan Yi.
“Lord Fan Yi, I have urgent news to report!”
Fan Yi, standing beside her, responded with slight impatience. “Speak.”
Si Tang only saw a flowing golden light before her, but the subsequent words seemed encrypted she could hear nothing more. Fan Yi appeared to be listening intently.
After a long pause, he replied coldly, “I understand.”
The golden light seemed agitated by his indifferent response. It circled a few times in place before a trident suddenly flew out from behind Fan Yi, vibrating threateningly twice. The golden light immediately fled in panic.
“Was that light the divine messenger 8856 you mentioned, the one who governs the heavenly order of this world?” Si Tang asked curiously.
Fan Yi nodded, his gaze deep and thoughtful as he looked at her.
“Fan Yi, what’s wrong?” His strange expression made Si Tang uneasy.
What had 8856 said? Why was he looking at her like that?
“Nothing,” he replied calmly. “Let’s go back.”
Si Tang agreed and returned to the cave with him.
He showed no intention of leaving. Si Tang quietly swung on the swing for a while before sitting down to draw.
Nearby, Fan Yi sat on an antique chair, resting with his eyes closed.
In his mind, he recalled what 8856 had told him earlier.
“Lord Fan Yi, today the Goddess of Fate issued a decree. The human by your side is a crucial part of the fate written by the Goddess of Fate for this world. Originally, she was supposed to have been rescued and returned home long ago. The Goddess of Fate says, if you do not release her, she will report this to the Chief God!”
“Three years from now, her fate line will officially begin. If you forcibly keep her here, the world’s order will be disrupted.”
Fan Yi lightly pinched his fingertips, his long eyelashes lifting slightly as his gaze fell upon Si Tang, who was amusing herself.
The girl was biting her pen, her head tilted slightly, looking quite playful. The outline on her drawing paper was none other than his own figure.
The sea and sky merged into one, the sunset dividing the boundary. The god’s fishtail rose and fell with the waves, his stunningly beautiful face gazing indifferently toward the shore, his expression revealing a hint of disdain and contempt.
So this was how she saw him.
A faint smile touched Fan Yi’s lips, his eyes flickering with a mix of affection and helplessness.
This dull world seemed to have gained color.
And what did the order of this world matter to him?
As Fan Yi drifted in thought, he seemed to remember something and took out the password-locked handbook.
His slender, flawless fingertips lightly tapped.
Password… 0003.
Fan Yi tried the number of the world where he was born. The handbook emitted a white light and opened, unfolding in mid-air.
Si Tang noticed the commotion and curiously set down her paintbrush to look over.
“What’s inside?”
She leaned in and saw the first page opened with the words: Diary.
Si Tang: “…”
Why did she find this inexplicably amusing? This fish actually kept a diary such a niche habit.
“Let me see.” Si Tang craned her neck, one hand gripping Fan Yi’s arm, eagerly signaling him to turn the page.
Fan Yi lowered his gaze, his eyes resting on the small hand tightly clutching his arm, a flicker of shadow passing through his pupils.
But Si Tang’s attention was completely captured by the diary Fan Yi had written.
Fan Yi looked up, his fingertips lightly turning the page of the diary before him, showing no displeasure at the prospect of his “privacy” being exposed.
First page of the diary:
“In terms of the modern era of a certain world, this is 20,000 BC. World No. 0003.
From the beginning of my memories, the Father God created me, but I dislike the divine realm above. It’s empty and dull.
It’s said that the Great War of the Gods billions of years ago caused the fall of many deities, leaving the divine realm desolate.
In any case, only the Goddess of Fate, that old deity, enjoys such a cold and lifeless place, impassively writing the fate lines of the three thousand worlds.
The Goddess of Light doesn’t like staying in the upper realm either. I heard she travels through the three thousand worlds, aiding all living beings. Rumor has it that she was the one who personally vanquished the God of Darkness, making her a hero of the divine realm.
Since my birth from chaos, I have often dwelled here.
Thus, I created it Atlantis.
I love the Twin Stars, the Eye of the Sahara, so I modeled the structure of this place after it.
In the human world, the East calls me the ‘Jiao Ren’ (merman), while the West calls me a mermaid. I am the younger brother of the Chief God. And my brother, Fan You, is perhaps the one they call the God of the Universe, Zeus.
As for me, I am known as the Zeus of the Sea, the ruler of the vast oceans.
But it’s annoying the people of Atlantis seem to love writing stories? They’re always fabricating gossip about me. They even gave me a name like ‘Saidon Bo.’ No one knows my real name, but the name they gave my divine artifact is somewhat interesting, so I adopted it.
I have to say, the statues they made of me are really ugly.
Could they please stop worshipping me every day? My ears are growing calluses. Can’t they let me sleep peacefully? Disturbing a god’s slumber!”
Si Tang was halfway through and could barely hold back her laughter.
An image popped into her mind a miniature version of Fan Yi, disdainfully eyeing his earthly statue, annoyed by the constant prayers in his ears, occasionally mischievously manipulating his trident to ride the waves and vent his frustrations.
Fan Yi probably noticed her stifled laughter and casually prepared to turn to the next page.
Second page of the diary:
“350 BC. World No. 0156, Ancient Greece.
The human world is boring too.
Compared to the upper realm, it’s just a matter of boring versus even more boring.
So bored that I traveled to different world planes, only to find that Atlantis no longer exists. I discovered a man named Plato who’s quite talented he actually captured traces of myths from over ten thousand years ago. But, who on earth is spreading the rumor that I married a human wife and had five pairs of twin boys? Absurd!”
At this point, Si Tang still found it amusing.
But as she read further, she began to feel a chill run down her spine.
Third page of the diary:
“Returning to 20,000 BC, World No. 0003, Atlantis.”
I always feel like there’s a gap in my memory something missing from the first dozen or so years after my birth. But I can’t recall anything. My elder brother says I was just in a long slumber. Maybe I should start keeping a diary when I’m bored. I have a feeling I’ve forgotten something important.
I’ve heard that human souls are delicious, and I’m getting a little curious. Out of frustration, I grabbed a random biscuit and stuffed it into my mouth. It tasted awful, so I spat it out. Turns out that “biscuit” was some kind of emperor, which caused a panic. Then the Primordial Deity punished me again. So annoying.
Si Tang: horrified jpg How did he turn out like this?! And now he’s craving humans?!
Diary Page 4:
“Randomly picked World No. 5689 for a trip around 2000+ BCE.
I was just bored and decided to watch a snowstorm for fun, but those fragile biscuits ended up freezing to death. They died, and what’s worse, they all died out completely. Not a single biscuit left to munch on. I hate eating corpses, and their souls weren’t exactly delightful either.
The Primordial Deity said I’m steeped in evil, devoid of compassion, and unworthy of divine virtue. What even is that?
So annoying. I sneezed, and it caused a flood that killed more people. Then I fell asleep and didn’t notice in time got another demerit. Fine, another day without a decent biscuit. Even orcas taste better than this.”
Si Tang:So this is what he was like during those 3,000 years of lost memories. No wonder he once said he was imprisoned and exiled for his overwhelming sins.
Diary Page 5:
“World No. 0036, around 250 million BCE, the Triassic Period exiled by the Primordial Deity.
The geological era is filled with lava everywhere. There are dinosaurs and ichthyosaurs, but the Primordial Deity said these creatures took too much effort to come into existence. To ensure the smooth progression of biological evolution, I’m strictly forbidden from eating them. All I can eat is sulfur. It’s so nauseating.”
Si Tang: numb jpg This Sea God’s life experiences are way too colorful. If he can stomach sulfur, craving humans doesn’t seem all that surprising anymore.
